Do you recommend red dead redemption 2? I'm hesitating because I already know the ending and I don't know if that would screw up the experience, thanks

it's worth it on sale
No, it's a shitty movie with awful gameplay and horrid writing. Just buy a real western instead.
Once Upon a Time in the West 4k bd is like $20 on amazon.
that better be some type of steel case special edition $20 is brazy bro
I knew the ending too and I still loved the experience. I don't think the best parts of RDR2 can be "spoiled"
I recommend it.
No it's a shit movie game. Play 1 instead.
Or just play GTA V, which is actually fun and not some boring wild west GTA with no cars.
RDR has more satisfying shooting and sandbox mechanics
RDR1 is clunky as frick and there's nothing to do in it's tiny, empty open world that you can cross in like 2 minutes.
I was talking about 2, though I like 1 as well
>be the governments b***h for 10 hours
Woo fun
There’s a reason 4 got single player expansions and 5 didn’t
The story was trash in 5
>There’s a reason 4 got single player expansions and 5 didn’t
Because of GTA Online, V had expansions planned, it's just they cancelled them when they realized they could just release cars for GTA Online and make far more money.
Yeah, to the point that the CEO b***hed about and called out all the people who play GTAO but don't buy shark cards, think he said they were leeches.
>he says this when literally all of RDR1 is about being the government's b***h
Should jannies just straight up ban RDR2 threads?
It's like there's some schizophrenic spamming them several times a day.
I didn’t enjoy it until 30 Hours in. Then I accepted what it was and got really into it.
Why would you ask for the recommendation of Ganker?
This place is full of racially ambiguous americans and third worlders who's opinions always come from Youtubers due to being too low IQ to form an opinion themselves.
>This place is full of racially ambiguous americans and third worlders
So a wider selection of personal experiences and viewpoints that help form a wider opinion? Sounds good.
>a wider selection
This is the same as the worship of diversity, what's the point when all you are adding is low IQ subhumans?
>edp
bro claimed to fap to milfs all day when in actual fact it was the complete opposite he always busted to in secret
Society can't help but stand between an honest Black man just trying to have his cupcake
remember when black people tried defending edp because the people that caught him turned out to be racist
why would you ask Ganker if you want a serious answer? everyone here hates RDR2 just because it isn't racist enough
>everyone
including you?
it's not even fun you shouldn't buy it
Some people get filtered by the movement, me? It's exactly the direction I wanted them to go in after V and its sloppy control
>I'm hesitating because I already know the ending
So did every single person on the planet, you dummy.
Spoiler Alert, you DIE at the end of RDR games. That why DEAD REDEMPTION is in the TITLE
No one gives a shit about the story and everyone knew how it would end anyway. The open world is mindblowing and lots of fun but like every open world rockstar game you have to do a bunch of boring story bullshit before they let you loose
Barely
I waited to buy it until last year when it was on sale for $30. Yes, it's pretty cool. But it railroads you into really gay dialogue 50% of the time. It tries really hard to be a serious movie story. You have to hold X to follow an npc to let the dialogue play out so much. You can never just play a mission like in the older GTA games, you HAVE to sit through 5 minutes of chit chat every time. And yes, you fail if you "leave the mission area" or do anything contradicting what the game wants you to do.
But it IS pretty entertaining when you're not playing a mission and free to run around messing with shit. So maybe for like $20 it's worth it. Better yet, get it for free ninety nine.
Forgot to add that I stopped after 10 hours and never went back.
Did you play the original?
I knew the ending and it didn't ruin the story for me at all. If you played RDR1 it was obvious what would happen.
The story is slow-paced but incredible and worth experiencing the whole thing even if you know whats coming. The writing/characters/performances put literally everything else to shame at least in the AAA market.
The open world is also the most detailed and beautiful of any game out there and an unparalleled technical achievement.
Anon everyone knew the ending before the game was released. It’s a prequel to 1
It's barely even a game. The game's gorgeous for sure but it's simply not fun to play. It controls like shit and everything takes 10x longer than it should.
Story's not anything to write home about if you've ever read a book.
yes
everyone knew what the ending was going to be when the game came out. its not going to screw up the experience because its about falling in love with arthur morgan
the first half of the story is engaging and fun , 4th chapter is ok , 5th is the worst one and 6th could have been better.
Dicking around in the overworld is nice and exploring it is rewarding. You can squeeze 100h out of this game with mods
>engaging
Cancer detected.
The entirety of the game is "go to spot on minimal, push A". If you're a pathetic Netflix normie you might like it. But it has no gameplay. It's truly a moviegame and I couldn't even finish it because nothing filters me faster than non-interactive sections where you're forced to sit there like an idiot holding down one button on the controller and watch your Netflix characters slowly riding horses talking with Netflix dialogue. It's hopeless. Normie slop go feed at the trough tool
Absolutely, given you can accept Story is not the centrepiece of the experience. I know it seems that way but it really isn't. It's mostly there to advance the plot and thus allow changes happen in the game world. The missions themselves are limited in terms of player agency (though far not as bad as some say) and linear by design, not to mention the occasional idiot-proofing (e.g. forced weapon selection) from Rockstar. Don't get me wrong, it's a remarkable and somewhat grandiose story that's surely worth experiencing at least once. It just comes with way too many anchors attached and the peak is not as high nor long-lasting as it should be to balance those occasions where the story falls flat.
Just do one story mission every one or two in-game week and you'll be fine. The essence of RDR2 is the meticulous exploration of every nook and cranny out there. Organize trips for yourself with the goal to do X and Y (pick up and/or complete this side quest, hunt that animal, figure out how the next challenge can be completed etc.) on top of that and you'll have a great time. Just be prepared to be distracted by random events on the regular.
