    no

    *rapes you*

yes I save scum all the games I run on an emulator I am sorry but the days of sitting on my ass playing some shitty game to die over and over again until I memorize how every pixel shifts are over, dealing with "difficulty" is over, now it's the pure experience of constant iteration of my elite gaming skills

Then why do you "play" those games? To consume the "content"? At that point, why not watch a movie instead?

what's the difference between beating the game in a few second increments and beating it in minute increments? oh there's none

why not read a synopsis or let your friend tell you about the movie, rather than watch it?
        because it's more fun.

every game saves/quicksaves before anything important, zoomers wouldnt understand this thread.

if the game gives you the option to save and reload whenever you want, then it's not cheating to utilize that function
you may as well claim that the game is over when you see the game over screen and starting the game again is cheating. it's moronic
actual save scumming involves copying files in the directories or using 3rd party programs to save/restore beyond what the game intended, which is cheating

      >when you see the game over screen and starting the game again
      You didn't beat the game

I try not to, unless it gets frustrating

save "scumming" can lead to you getting stuck at an unwinnable situation, it balances itself

      >He overrides the same save instead of making a new one ever time

If you load the older save you're losing progress, so it's like not save scumming in the first place, it's still balanced

Yes, especially in retro and stealth games. I do what I want and anyone who doesn't like it can kiss my ass.

Yes because I'm going to rig any gambling RNG to not have to waste time grinding to gamble more.
Especially if there is content locked behind that RNG.

I dont know why quicksaving is even a thing in pc games and why nerds throw a fit when it's not there

  15. 11 months ago

I wouldnt call it save scumming but amid evil has like no checkpoints and gives you 15 minute levels that it expects you to clear in 5. so id save every few minutes in the event some bullshit threw me off a cliff. good game otherwise

    Stealth games and RPGs: YES
    Any other genre: NO

  17. 11 months ago

Depends on the game. Crpgs basically require save scumming.

  18. 11 months ago

if the game is cheating then yeah

  19. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

Yes, even for games that try to not allow me to

If a Roguelike really doesn't want me to save and load at my leisure, then it shouldn't make the relevant files so easy to copy and paste

    Always.

If the game is based around RNG, then yes. RNG requires no skill. RNG is a bullshit mechanic that devs use when they have no clue how to make a proper system so instead they throw RNG at it and just give you the finger

The skill involved with RNG is not being a b***h when it doesn't roll your way.

        That's not skill moron.

If game allows you to savescum, it's shit 98%.

  23. 11 months ago

    All the time.
I should probably cut back on it though, since I tend to stop caring about making good decisions and I get frustrated after savescumming excessively to try to get past a difficult fight when I really should have just given up and walked away.

  24. 11 months ago

no I only use save states if I'm away from a save point and want to quit right there or as a backup at a save point

  25. 11 months ago

no but i dont give a shit if someone else does. i dont get that frustrated at games but good god i know some people do

  26. 11 months ago

Only in bethesda games. Though must of the time i'm just spamming F5 because i'm afraid of the game crashing at any second. It's not like it's cheating because it's the only way to save the game.

If I get absolutely buttfricked by a boss that forces me to go back to a much earlier state of the game multiple times (3-4) Yes, I will scum

  29. 11 months ago

    depends on the game

i love Legend of Grimrock 2, is one of my favorite games ever, but that game has so many fricking ambushes im convinced the intended way to play it is by savescumming

same with nearly all classic FPS for similar reasons, fricking monster closets
