Not anymore. The trailer for 4 was completely unrecognizable.
More like kingdom farts
Jej
They should have just let Sora marry Kairi or whatever and ended his story with 3. Stop dragging it out and if you must continue the series get a new protagonist.
I only like the gameplay of 1 and 2. Haven't played the final version of 3 yet
No Final Fantasy characters no buy.
I'm not a pedo, but Sora is so frickable
2 is the only KH game that matters. Everything else is nippon vidya writers concentrating their autism
Kingdom Hearts 3 was just Kingdom Hearts Drop Dream Distance 2. So, no.
Only if the next game is about Kairi, otherwise no.
literally impossible
selphie panties
removed, just like Kairi's
>nopan
God, I’m so fricking hard right now.
If I could do that when I was 12, you can do it now
Stun tidus as much as possible. He's aggressive so it's easy to get him. Same thing with wakka. Pay attention for the ball and hit it back to stun him. Focus on getting selphie out first. Then tidus. Then lastly wakka. Practice how to Parry each character with their single fights.
I do. Its fun. Hasn't stopped being fun.
I want to play Dream Drop Distance but I can't be fricked to bother with the dream eater side shit. I put over 150 hours into the 3DS version of the game back when I was in middle school but the PC version? It feels so cheap to use, like all of the tomogachi elements are just gone. Which is funny because I waste a shit ton of time with the Chao garden everything time I replay Sonic Adventure 2
A little bit but only because of Sora. I use to only care about Sora, Riku, and Kairi but the other two became either bland or is a damsel in distress. Sora is the only reason I give a tiny pixel of care and that's only because I grew up with him as a gamer. like crash or sly cooper. Everything that was worth caring about has gone to shit because of Tetsuya being an autistic sperg and wanting to force Final Fantasy Versus into kingdom hearts. I kinda hope 4 bombs so the series can die and everyone's head canon is that it ended at KH2.
I liked the combat in the first game.
Second game had better combat, but it also had a lot of systems that lead to rapidly mashing since very few enemies tries to resist once juggled or hit stunned. Also making all the harder bosses juggle centric was a fricking awful idea, since it just makes Once More + Second Chance mandatory if you don't plan on doing a no hit on replay.
I’ve read that webcomic but I don’t remember that page at all. Is it even an actual page?
KH3 unironically killed all hype I had
>go to world
>controls ripped from the player for tutorial
>talk to disney character about nothing
>leave world
>repeat 5 fricking times
I tapped out, frick this game.
Not after they took 14 years to go from KH2 to 3. The series is not worth bothering with.
yes, 4 will be great. i'm not that invested in the story anymore as i consider Dream Drop and 3 to have shat all over it and the mobile game shit doesn't help but i'm still interested to see what Nomura comes up with next. mostly into it for the gameplay and i'm glad we're back to console releases. 3 wasn't as good as 2FM but the ReMind dlc fights were some of the most fun i've had playing a videogame in a long time so i hope we get more of that in 4 while the rest of the combat is hopefully more refined
3 felt half assed
I've played every game. Not going to stop. The least fun game was 358/2, and the rest are fine. You need to get over the story though, to really enjoy them.
>358/2
what were they thinking?
I'll never get over how frustrating The Ruler of the Sky was.
Ruler of the sky is pretty bad, but just stocking ~30 fire(not fira) and try to get your magic as high as possible trivializes it.
>What we're they thinking
They weren't ,fricking Nomura, if that game had a fricking mp and limit system it would have been the third best game in terms of combat
No I'm not talking about limit breaks, I'm talking about real limits, not the shit you can only do when you're half dead, not having special attacks makes a lot of fights fricking slogs, had they implemented the command system in that game it would have been godlike
Limit breaks were great and weren't just free invincibility. Limits were waaay too good in kh2. I just wish there was a variety of them(per character) rather than just the basic one and its upgrade.
After playing KH2 I was curious about what had happened in the world while Sora was in the memory pod. I couldn't have been the only one.
Turns out it was fricking nothing. I'm kinda surprised at how ineffective Org XIII ends up being before Sora wakes up.
The biggest disappointment for me was that Roxas was revealed to be some sleepy autistic baby in a teenager's body instead of the driven and angry character he is in KH2, even in the flashbacks from when he was in Orgy13.
Hell, you could've tied something, anything in that game to Birth By Sleep. But, no.
Roxas is basically only that character for like 3 days, but it apparently defined him enough that that's what he is in KH3 as well.
Completely ignoring his character arc. When Roxas got what he wanted, to be complete without vanishing completely, at the end of KH2 he was happy.
No, he wasn't. Bad writing made him "happy" and that was retconned anyway.
Why would the entire game have roxas acting like his kh2 self? Wouldn't make sense. I do wish they would have remade the game instead of just the cutscenes though.
When I was younger I didn't bother playing com even though I had a gba for some reason and was confused as frick when I played KH2. Guess I got the full Sora experience.
And that's how we learned KH doesn't do "spin-offs". Except coded I guess. That's pretty irrelevant.
Coded will help explain how Sora got into smash eventually.
Same here. I think KH2 is better without having played CoM. You get that sense of confusion that both Roxas and Sora feel at the beginning of the game.
Did Sora ever get his memories of CoM back? Pretty sure he only met Namine in the final world as a soul star or whatever so I'm guessing no.
Considering he doesn't recognise Marluxia or Larxene in 3, no.
>Sora forgot everything that happened in CoM.
And nothing of value was lost.
Up until KH3 I cared about it unconditionally, even when its main output was handheld shite. Now that the story that I got invested in as a kid is pretty much wrapped up and it's moved onto a new arc I will only care if it actually looks good, and I think it remains to be seen if IV looks good or not.
The original story concluded with KH2 then they stat padding it with BBS.
The big problem with BBS's story is that all 3 playable characters are as dumb as rocks.
No
Yes.
Her onlyfans is pretty good.
>still
I've never played a Kingdom Hearts game and never will.
Never did.
No I stopped caring as soon as I saw the ending of DDD
>3's plot was shit
>Melody was complete filler
Nah i'll pass
>Melody was complete filler
Can't be filler if its god plot important elements.
What's important? The fact that the whole game doesn't matter because at the end the Fairy Godmother comes in and says "ok kairi who cares lol btw i know where sora is"
The ending is plot important so yes its not filler.
And will you tell me that an ending that isn't even particularly related to the plot of that one game couldn't just be put into the next game's prologue?
I don't even know why I'm answering to you, people like you would buy anything.
And I don't know why I bother arguing with people that think 3 isn't the second best game in the series.
Did i say it was a bad game? No.
Did i say the plot was shit? Yeah, because it was.
But sure, put words i didn't say inside my mouth
>Did i say it was a bad game?
Literally 99% of Ganker says KH3 is a bad game.
I still think 2 is a better game and even 1 has SOUL, 3 feels souless but it's overall a better game than 1 (except for the plot)
>even 1 has SOUL
I've said it many times on this board in other threads, 1 is one of the weakest games in the series.
1 has very few redeeming qualities.
Alright you can say that, it still has a better plot than 3 even if it's pretty basic
Eh I liked 3's plot.
1's plot was way too straightforward.
No twists, nothing unexpected.
And what's bad about that? A solid plot doesn't need new twists every single second, i would say that some of the choices in 3 ruin the plot
Melody was such a piece of shit game, I never beat it. It was so incredibly boring that I absolutely couldn’t stand to play it anymore. The music in KH is phenomenal, but it doesn’t translate well to a rythem game at all. Most of the songs are too slow and the games mechanics are clunky and not challenging enough to be engaging in anyway. I never even bothered watching the cutscenes online.
>I never even bothered watching the cutscenes online.
You literally lost nothing that the next game isn't gonna say in like 2 sentences in the intro
always
It's being used as a gateway to revive versus so, kind of.
Pretty much the only reason why I'm even interested in IV. II killed any interest I had in the series when it came out.
>II killed any interest I had in the series when it came out
How do you hate the best entry in the series?
>And what's bad about that?
It doesn't stand above literally any other jrpg.
Dude i mean, if you need twists at every angle to keep your brain awake i'm not gonna judge but a plot can be pretty straightforward and still be a solid plot.
KH1 has a solid plot with some solid characters arc
>but a plot can be pretty straightforward and still be a solid plot
I'm not arguing against that. I'm saying that as a straightforward story its just like every other jrpg story out there.
I mean while the game wasn't created to have an incredible plot but it was still nice, just a nice arc about friends and never giving up and blah blah things that after 20 years every game/anime uses i know i know, but 3's plot is just bad, too many things happening with really bad explanations behind them, too many characters in one game so most of them don't even get used properly, 2 was probably the perfect mix of a solid plot with still some twists.
While i much prefer Noctis' design that's not the problem, what i'm really scared off is that Yozora is just going to be another Edge!Cloud or Lightning seems Nomure likes only 2 type of characters: absolute edgelords that can literally kill you with their edge or fricking stupid boys that are too good and pure for everyone
>too many characters in one game
You know played Suikoden series.
*never played
That's the english rating system.
The actual game was developed for people 14+. You can tell this because of the kanji the game uses.
I didn't, did i miss out some great game?
I really like the idea of that Versus/FF15 ended up being, THE IDEA, i still think today that Ardyn is one of the best villains of the series... IF YOU IGNORE EPISODE ARDYN WHICH HAS A FRICKING SHIT ENDING THAT RUINS HIS ENTIRE CHARACTER ARC
The Suikoden series is great yes but my point is each game has over 100 characters.
Damn i'll try to play them in the future
The first three games are the best.
I've heard 4 and 5 are not that good.
Yeah i'll add it to my list of games to play right there with the Disgaea series
>2 killed my interest
Man you fizzled out around the same time as me. Honestly no KH game has captured the magic 1 had for me. I've played every one, but it's always the same. My beef with 2 was I was a supreme KH teenage autist that followed every bit of kh news. I was thinking roxas was gonna be a new character, I'd roll deep with a cast of new characters and permanently retire one of the two morons donald and goofy. Tragically my hopes were dashed in the first couple hours. I played the entire game hoping he would come back and join my party. Won't lie I'm a lil interested in using the apartment as a hub in shibuya. I fricking love cozy hubs you can return to after a long day of fighting. Main reasons I liked KH with Traverse Town and Evil Within 2 with his office hub.
Kek. This is pretty much the reason why I lost interest. I did learn a valuable lesson to not let myself overhype games or movies pre-release and be let down when it finally releases because of KH2. I tried giving it another chance in 2017 or so (along with KH1 and COM) and it just didn't click with me. KH1 still held up for me besides the Tarzan level, which I HATED on that playthrough.
KH1 was my favorite entry.
Whenever people argue about the quality of 3, I'm not sure how many people are aware of the gameplay updates (which don't fix the entire game but are very substantial).
Well this person probably knows.
I'm aware but i'm not even talking about the gameplay
Fair.
Even so, it seems to me that a lot of people who are into FF but not into KH don't even know that Yozora is a thing, even though he should be in their radar.
I really don't know how to feel about Yozora, i know he's pretty much supposed to be the original Noctis but i don't really like his character design (can't talk about his personality since we've known him for like 5 minutes)
I like his design but that's too subjective.
I'm on the boat that's optimistic since Nomura was screwed over, and while KH3's story sucks, I don't blame Verum Rex for taking away the focus on quality.
The updates basically turn Sora back into 2FM Sora (with the good shit from 3 such as air blocking and the precise-timing damage boost blocks in Critical Mode) with additional snappy combo options and the form changes on Oathkeeper and Oblivion being like drive forms. The paid portion of the DLC gives you toggles to turn off the crappy mechanics and/or customize your difficulty, in return for higher scores when you beat the bosses. The first half of the DLC sucks, but the second half is 14 superbosses designed to be fought using the fixed Sora, and they are great.
ReMind Sora is way faster than 2FM Sora.
Yeah. He's great.
That is understandable too. There's no guarantee that Nomura's original vision for Versus/Noctis was going to be better than what came out. Also he does like hot girls.
We still have 1 direct quote from vs13 Noctis. Can you imagine the one we got actually saying something like this?
I actually really like Noctis in FF15, he might have an edgy design but he feels like a real character, yeah i know people give him shit for that part of the game where he cries alot BUT THE FRICKER LITERALLY LOST HIS FATHER, HIS CITY, SOME OF HIS FRIENDS AND HIS LOVER, IGNIS ALSO LOST HIS SIGHT BECAUSE OF HIS PLAN, LEAVE HIM ALONE
Yes
No though. That said Versus 13 was going to show what Nomura actually thought of good vs. evil conflicts as they play out in battle similar to current events so it's likely Noctis would have even harsher dialogue.
I think Nomura did the wrong thing going all-in putting all of his complaints about modern society in Final Fantasy. He was going to make Versus 13 entirely about IRL-esque political whatsits and now all of Square has to reap the cost of turning his beliefs into a corporate product. Maybe the other anons are right and Nomura wanted to beat Matsuno after seeing Tactics and 12. But like him, he lost his team, he lost his mind, if he were any smarter he would go the way of his senseis who did the exactly same thing with Xeno and join Monolith or even start his own. But no he still chooses to work at Square and even Disney has to deal with Versus baggage.
Looking back on it now the other question is why was Nomura so hell-bent on turning his personal beliefs into a game?
>this means based on Versus leaks he truly is an edgy motherfricker
I actually like that Nomura gets to reuse his ideas for Versus 13 in Kingdom Hearts. I dont know how anyone could be mad.
I've heard there are gameplay updates, but I have no idea what they actually are. There was no way I was going to give SE more money to fix what they should have gotten right the first time. They had their chance when they sold me the 13th game in a series. Sell me a bad game, shame on you. Sell me a bad game and then I buy a fix for it? Shame on me.
TBQH the opinion of anyone who didn't wait for the complete version to come out before playing KH3 is worthless.
This.
The same thing happened when KH2 released. People said it was shit and Final Mix made it the best game in the series.
You guys still talking about the gameplay right?
No we're talking about the anal donkey sex.
Holy shit AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME? THAT'S FRICKING HOT
You have to beat the game to get many of the updates though, and there was no way of knowing that the gameplay would even be updated to that degree until it was.
>You have to beat the game to get many of the updates though
Not for crit mode and pro codes.
which werent there at launch and nomura said there wasn't gonna be a FM for it so nobody had any reason to wait for anything
KH3 was shit at launch and is still shit on crit and the updates were shit
>nomura said there wasn't gonna be a FM for it
He said that for literally every game that got Final Mix.
No he didn't
Sounds like your salty you got bamboozled into buying the beta, even though literally every single KH game has had an updated definitive version come out later.
>literally every single KH game has had an updated definitive version come out later
I mean not him but Days and Coded didn't get that.
The 1.5+2.5 retellings > original janky ass games.
>original janky ass games
Re:Coded is literally the 3rd best KH game after 3 and 2.
Coded was released episodically on mobile phones. Re:Coded is the updated definitive version.
A bunch didn't and nomura stated kh3 wouldn't have an updated version like a FM
>A bunch didn't
KH:FM
Re:COM
KH2:FM
Re:Coded (and the story)
358/2 Days story
BBS:FM
DDDHD
χ Back Cover
all came out before 3. That only leaves 0.2 (which was supposed to be the intro to 3) and V-Cast, but c'mon.
To be fair to that anon, Nomura claimed that BBS wasn't guaranteed to get FM version:
>Are you going to release the international version in Japan as you have with KH and KHII?
>Nomura: Well, if I say “we don’t plan on it yet”, people will take that as “no”, so I can’t really say anything. Since the voice acting is done so well it wouldn’t be so bad releasing a Final Mix... but people only got so excited about KHII FM+ because it was sold with Re:COM. We’re not going to put that much into it a second time (laugh).
Also Days movie is not an upgrade, it's a downgrade. Frick KH3 for leaving us out of Days remake and BBS with servers for multiplayer.
Yeah, but I'm talking about the combo abilities and Oathkeeper/Oblivion if you're considering form changes.
morons actually fricking think rectum cux will be versus are the most delusional fricking people in existence
versus was a roadtrip about Prince noctis going across lucis and making his way to niflheim to get the crystal back with his 3 bros ignis his attendant and strategist, gladiolus his kings shield and older brother figure, and prompto his best friend
ffxv is a roadtrip about Prince noctis going across lucis and making his way to niflheim to get the crystal back with his 3 bros ignis his attendant and strategist, gladiolus his kings shield and older brother figure, and prompto his best friend
verum rex is not a roadtrip, yozora is not a prince, there is no crystal energy source in verum rex, there is no lucis, there is no niflheim, yozora only has two companions one named aegis and one named magia. It takes place in actual Shibuya which was then retconned to a place called Quadratum.
verum rex copying cinematography of some versus trailers doesn't make it versus when its far removed from the actual context of what versus is about
Even kingsglaive is more Versus than verum rex
>"I don't look like this"
>remind secret video being a 1:1 remake of the versus trailer
>somnus played in KH3 secret vid
Cope.
Try actually reading dumbass
verum rex copying cinematography of some versus trailers doesn't make it versus when its far removed from the actual context of what versus is about and that isnt even somnus it was just a nod to it put in by shimomura who not even nomura requested and was surprised to hear it
Even kingsglaive is more Versus than verum rex and recreates versus cg, is literally directed by the director of the versus cg and has actual somnus and a plethora of original shimomura music too
>try reading
>ESL and sentences with no periods or commas
I'm losing braincells trying to make sense of your rambling.
>yozora in a car in a 1:1 shot of the OG versus trailer doesn't make it versus
Cope.
Not anymore. I was 14 when the first game launched in NA and played all of the games except for the phone games. Some were especially bad, like 358/2 Days, but I loved the series.
3 was so bad for me that it effectively killed the series. It took too long to come out, the Disney worlds were all just exact, shot-by-shot retellings whenever they could manage it (though the Big Hero 6 world was nice.) Combat flow was terrible, constantly being interrupted by form changes and team attacks and rides. The pacing was atrocious, with almost nothing happening in the first 80% of the game and then them trying to have every emotional payoff all at once at the end. They show Xion getting reunited with Roxas and Axel something like 10 minutes before showing Terra getting reunited with Aqua and Ventus. And the phone game Chi being absolutely integral to the plot despite it not really appearing in any game prior to 3 and itself. The phone game that America was something like a year behind Japan, as well?
The combat felt bad. The worlds felt bland for the most part. The story was boring and rushed. It was the first mainline Kingdom Hearts I didn't enjoy, and one of the few KH titles in general I didn't like playing. I've gone back and replayed KH a few times, and KH2 a couple. I gave my copy of KH3 to a friend since I knew I'd never play it again.
I think I could have handled a game of disappointing combat and worlds, maybe. But the story suddenly revolving around Chi just made me lose all interest in the games from now on. I haven't even seen the KH4 trailer. Literal decades of games and build-up led to such a disappointment and a bait and switch that I'm just done with the series.
Read up on the updates. The current KH team actually figured out how to make the combat good. However, you have to beat the game to unlock most of the updates, and you have to buy the DLC to have fun with them.
I'm this guy
I'm glad to hear combat's more fun. But it came too late, and from what it sounds like too closely tied to DLC.
I wanted to like that game, but I realized early I needed to put short transformations on, and in the second half I just stopped using the team attacks and rides because even though they made you invincible and did tons of damage, I was tired of only getting to fight for 10 seconds at a time.
That does sound fun. The KH2 drive forms were great, and it's good to see they keep what works. But the fix to that came out over a year after the game released, and I wasn't going to pay $30 for a bunch of fights on a game I didn't have fun playing in the first place. If they fixed it, great. But 13 months is a LONG time to wait for a fix, and I got rid of my copy well before the update or DLC came out. 3 just killed any excitement I had for the series I'd loved for over 25 years.
Totally understandable, and the DLC is overpriced (except, surprisingly, on the Epic store where the base game + DLC is on sale for like 36 bucks) even if it is where the good shit is. There are hundreds of other games that are better value. But if you were wondering why some people are optimistic about the combat for the next game, that's why.
Who's your favorite?
I'll keep it in mind. Not for picking up the DLC I don't think, since I doubt I'll be playing any other games in the series at this point, but I like to at least know what's going on.
I've always like the combat and story of KH. I'm that kind of person that played on Proud mode and had fun, but never went for Critical mode or Level 1 runs, that kind of stuff. So the double whammy of the combat being bad and the story taking such a bad turn and rushing to try and tie up all the loose ends did enough damage.
But if SE is figuring out better combat, I hope they'll keep at it and incorporate it into some other games. I don't mind active battles in Final Fantasy, but I've started FFXV 3 different times trying to get through it and I can't tell if it's the world map/level design, combat, or story, but I just cannot get interested in that game either. Polishing up real time combat for future games couldn't hurt, though.
KH3 combat is not bad. Don't listen to the haters.
I beat the game within a month of release. Combat wasn't very fun. Constantly getting prompts to use rides, perform team attacks, or form switch every 10 seconds killed any flow. Half the combat time was spent invincible on a ride, watching a team attack animation, or watching your keyblade transform (even if you put those to short.) It's been 3 and a half years and I can barely remember any of the fights at this point.
It's been mentioned there were updates to the combat, so I'm not talking about current KH3 combat. I haven't played it since the month it launched, so I don't have any experience with any fixes. I'm just saying that launch combat was bad, and part of the reason I've lost interest in the series. Even if it got fixed, they were fine shipping that combat and leaving it like that for 13 months.
>Constantly getting prompts to use rides, perform team attacks, or form switch every 10 seconds killed any flow
Are you autistic? You never had to use any of those.
you do on the hardest difficulty in the hardest fights, however not using them is just handicapping yourself.
>you do on the hardest difficulty in the hardest fights
No you don't. That's why ReMind gave you the ability to completely turn off attractions.
I've heard that abusing little mermaid summon duration is the best way to beat yozora, not that I've played re:mind because KH3 was so shit that I wasn't going to play it twice.
I DO play KH3 and Little Mermaid summon is not very good vs Yozora.
For what it's worth, FF XVI has both the combat director of DMC5 and staff from the KH team iirc, so you can keep an eye out for that.
I never played 15 myself but I did read that some people preferred that Noctis was pulled from Nomura and turned into something other than a stoic edgelord (and therefore don't care for Yozora), even if they weren't satisfied with how the game turned out, especially with the DLC cancellations.
Honestly i don't think Nomura can make good main characters, he pretty much likes only 2 type of personalities and that's it
He was never a stoic edgelord though? He was alone for the first two trailers, you can hardly gauge his personality while he's killing a couple of grunts.
Kingdom Hearts ended at 2.
Yeah in a perfect world it did
I liked KH1 and thought KH2 wasn't half bad. Never played COM or BBS but I didn't even care enough to buy 3 even during its launch.
not really
Isn't KH a game for like 12 year olds and under?
Technically no. Its for like 14 and older.
Nomura straight up said that if KH were aimed at kids, he would have made the story simpler.
Everyone 10+
I need someone to say "damn".
Lemme guess, you think people play KH for the Disney characters right?
I finished all except kh2 and recoded.
My favorite in order bbs kh3 com 358/2 kh1 ddd mom khux
Every time I'm reminded of Kingdom Hearts, I'm temporarily returned to a state of shock and horror that Disney; the most careful and greedy media corporation in recent history, somehow entrusted their entire legacy to the most schizophrenic japanese man possibly to ever grace the video game industry. What a world.
I care about KH1 and 2. The only two good games in the series.
It will always remain my favorite series of all time and I care about the characters an embarassing amount.
I love this series for all its flaws and hope we get more oddball world picks.
I knew we should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque...
I shouldn't but I know somewhere deep down in my heart that I do.
I swear I'm not hype for KH4, even though I /played/ all of union χ.
Stopped caring after the first one. Tried KH2, shit was gimmicky with all the flying combat and overdrive shit or whatever it was called. KH2 basically spawned the shitty combat systems I despise in modern Final Fantasy games.
I stopped caring between 3D and 3. And yet I still have a portion of my brain dedicated to KH trivia. That's how much the series fricked me up.
The only truly great one was KH1, nothing since has come close to that sense of wonder and adventure.
The triple combo of BBS, DDD and KH3 made sure no will give a shit about Kingdom Hearts ever again.
BBS was bad but DDD and KH3 were great games.
ddd was better than bbs but kh3 was still worse than 2, 1, and re:com. like power-gap worse.
>kh3 was still worse than 2, 1, and re:com
I disagree but whatever.
KH3 is the second best game in the series.
DDD was bad but BBS and KH3 were great games.
>Disney has become a real shitty company in recent years
>in recent years
I only care about sora
https://files.catbox.moe/oalegw.png
No kh3 bombed and remind bombed and MoM bombed
Source?
KH3 had weak additional sales because its sales fell off a cliff after its launch quarter ended
Remind bombed critically, fan wise and commercially
KH3 barely even sold 1.7m in the 3+ years since it released which is abysmal
MoM had extremely low sales in every sales chart too.
Days has the unique honor of having the most playable characters though, albeit quantity over quality. I found Lexaeus useful because of how hard he hits.
Yes
It better be better than 3
If Nomura wasn't a coward this could be possible
Yeh
>KH3 is permanent Epic exclusive
>Still can't be bothered to pirate it.
>4 will be out by the time I get a PS5.
Guess I'm not playing it.
I find it hilarious when morons claim “HURRRR KH IS FILLED WITH PLOT HOLES AND RETCONS” when in actuality, there are only a few and it’s the most minor plot holes that can be easily overlooked. The series only has one major plot hole but that can be overlooked as well.
>In KH2 Donald was shocked to see Yen Sid Tower saying “Master Yen Sid lives here?!” but both Donald and Goofy were actually in Yen Sid’s tower the entire time they were in BBS. Nomura actually commented on this plot hole himself and jokingly said “Yen Sid redecorated”
>In the same scene, Goofy said “his majesty” banished Pete but in BBS it was actually Queen Minnie who did
>Nomura said Nobodies do not age but Ienzo/Zexion proves that is wrong
>In KH2, Riku said that when him and Roxas fought, he lost but the second time they fought, he won. Riku and Roxas only fought once
>Mickey’s shoes are different from KH1 ending to 0.2 ending(this can be overlooked because Nomura was not allowed to change Mickey’s appearance in KH1)
>Aqua being surprised and crying upon hearing Sora’s name as the savior in BBS secret ending no longer makes sense because Mickey told Aqua about Sora in 0.2
>In Dream Drop Distance, Mickey telling Xehanort that his actions in BBS ruined the lives of his 3 missing friends but Mickey has never actually met Terra before
And the only major plot hole in the series:
>Xemnas can’t wield the Keyblade even though he is the Nobody of TWO Keyblade wielders. One being an actual Keyblade Master
That’s it. That’s all the plot holes in KH. All minor except the Xemnas one. As batshit insane as this story is, Nomura does a hell of a job keeping it consistent.
Yeah never said it's full of plot holes, but i said that the plot is shit
>HURRRR KH IS FILLED WITH PLOT HOLES AND RETCONS
Pretty much anyone who's said this, or that the plot doesn't make sense, simply hasn't beaten all the games. The fact that so many b***hed about time travel in 3 should tell you all you need to know.
>The fact that so many b***hed about time travel in 3 should tell you all you need to know.
people didn't b***h about it because it's a plot hole. People b***hed about it because it's bad writing and demonstrates that your series has zero permanent consequences. Remember all those character deaths that made you feel something? Well guess what they're back now because frick you.
And let's not forget that when one person actually dies it's pretty much a roulette of in which afterlife they are gonna end up
And it was still set up and started in DDD, not 3. The point is that b***hing about it in 3, even though DDD said exactly what was going to happen, shows those people didn't play DDD.
Or conversely they did play DDD and thought it was moronic there too.
3 is more of a sequel to DDD than it is to 2. I don't like DDD. 3 at least took out the more frustrating parts of that game.
>Aqua being surprised and crying upon hearing Sora’s name as the savior in BBS secret ending no longer makes sense because Mickey told Aqua about Sora in 0.2
She was remembering him, not learning about him for the first time.
Those events happen almost instantly. Time flows at a snails pace in the realm of Darkness. Between Aqua losing contact with Mickey in 0.2 and getting trapped again and Ansem the Wise showing up in the realm of darkness a second, only a year passed in real time and probably felt like 5 minutes in the realm of darkness
>That’s all the plot holes/retcons in KH.
*ahem*
>specifically says that Nobodies are "copies" of the bodies of people who have died and are separated from their hearts
>"yeah no look since Ventus was inside Sora's heart when he became a Heartless the Nobody was actually made from Ventus' appearance because shut up don't ask"
I don't think you really deserve a response, but Nobodies are copies of bodies and mind. And heart really just means ambiguous soul/essence in this series. If you want to get into fricking Kingdom Hearts semantics of all things, loosen your hardcore definitions or you're gonna have a bad time.
>Ventus is part of Sora
>This is reflected in Vanitas and Roxas
And why would the Nobody ever be created by an "extra heart" instead of the actual body and mind of a person?
>Sora becomes a Heartless, his body becomes his Nobody Roxas.
>It's explicitly established that Nobodies don't actually have emotions because the don't have a heart. They can act like they have emotions based off of the memories they had when they did have a heart.
>Unlike other Nobodies, Roxas has no memory of his life from before and experiences genuine emotions, like he has a heart.
>Roxas and Ventus look exactly the same and it's established that Ventus's heart was inside Sora before the events of the first game.
>What happened to Ventus's heart when Sora became a Heartless? Perhaps Roxas and Ventus are somehow related?
Nope! Roxas and Ventus are 2 completely separate people with no relation to each other.
Isn't Roxas's appearance as it is because Sora had Ventus's heart?
So, what happened to Ventus's heart when Sora became a Heartless? It didn't return to Ventus.
Wizards.
More like a plot point that was just kinda retconned and then glossed over.
i hate how they didn't let us have a scene of roxas and ventus trying to figure out this moment
>the heart is stored in the balls
Didnt Roxas get it hence you know...looking like Ventus and weilding 2 Keyblades? Asking honestly I dont remember
Its not talked about but it really feels like The Organization were rewritten a bunch until 358/2 finally nailed them down and DDD finished the job.
This is mostly my speculation going off of the content we had before release but at first it seemed like they were being built up to be much more inhuman than they ended up being really playing into that phantasmal non-thing aspect as scientists and watchers of the going on in the world.
358 really standardized them making it seem like all their independently productive members got wiped in CO and that they were just fricking around for a year waiting on the Roxas/Xion plan.
Also Roxas seems to have changed the most from the shift. People seem to forget that the KH2 intro Roxas was meant to be a fake personality for the real Roxas.
That Roxas which we only catch glimpses of in the secret endings and KH2/FM is presented as an established part of the Organization leading Nobodies and even having his own Version of them in the Samurai which he even controls in KH2 proper before his fight.
He is also a lot more aggressive in nature looking at his brief moments after he gets his memory back.
And like you pointed out the Ventus stuff and the TWO keyblades stuff was fricked around with so much.
Overall I love days's story its in the top 3 easy and I wouldn't change it but its fascinating to think about how differently the organization was portrayed before we had a full game about them.
The Organization and Nobodies in general where absolutely rewritten a bunch of times, that's why i kinda prefer Ansem, Seeker of Darkness as a villain, he was very straightforward and simple to understand, we knew that he was some kind of Human turned Eldritch Being and that he wanted to destroy everything, not one of the most complex villain but it worked
>Overall I love days's story
Why it was just muh xion shit
>KH3 renders her dying ‘for real’ pointless
kek
KH3 renders a lot of character arcs pointless
>KH3 renders a lot of character arcs pointless
It’s not fair
>Xion is an anomaly that shouldn't stay alive
>Actuallu she should
>Roxas realizes that he will forever live in Sora's heart
>Nuh uh Roxas is he's own person
>Naminè will get to stay with Roxas because Sora and Kairi will always stay together
>Nope Roxas wants to frick Xion lol you can have Riku
>Aqua this time will get to save her friends
>No frick off it's Sora Time moron
>Kairi this time will not be a burden
>GET XEHANORTED b***h
>Nope Roxas wants to frick Xion
Wouldn't that be incest?
yeah it kinda would but Nomura doesn't really care
She is a artificial body with a personality based upon the memories of your other half's GF that obtained self existence via living as her own person. So if fricking an android based upon your fantasies of the ideal GF is incest then yes. If not then its kosher.
Xion is a Replica of Sora. Roxas is Sora's Nobody. They share memories and come from the same source (have the same father). One was just born naturally and the other was grown in a lab. It's incest.
>Roxas sees Xion as KH1 Kairi but with some different details because the memories he has are not perfect
>Nah nevermind everyone sees her like that lol
>>Nuh uh Roxas is he's own person
Personally I'm fine with this one because he always showed to much emotion and his own personality to just be a part of sora and him just being okay with just becoming a fragment of sora always felt kind of forced.
Roxas was Ventus before Nomura decided to resurrect Roxas seperate from Ventus.
>Oh wow Axel/Lea will actually learn how to use a Keyblade
>"It's this supposed to be a Keyblade? Or is it some sort of joke?"
It's like fanfic were running the writing room:
>Roxas/Xion - they're not gone, now they get to be happily ever after with Axel as part of a throuple
>Riku/Naminè - just like any CoM-era fanfic which would also have Sora/Kairi
>Kairi killed - Now Sora can shack up with Riku!
The Xion shit didn't really take over till 60% of the way through the game. Honestly I think its because the lions share of the cutscenes are about her but the non voiced stuff isn't for a long time.
Before that she is certainly a main characters but she is more of a companion to Roxas in his journey of learning how to be people with Axel as the more mature advice giver helping them grasp these concepts. She basically fulfills the role of a companion which Axel can't on account of being a mentor figure.
Think of a kids show where you have the main character who has a question, their friend who is also along for the ride and is slightly more responsible but still clueless and then the "adult" played by a live actor, that's their dynamic.
Then as that part of the story wraps up we do enter the Xion portion where her story takes over the plot but not entirely because as she gets all the cutscenes Roxas gets some much needed screen time with other Org members and we get to see their dynamic more.
Ultimately it is Roxas's story of becoming a person more so than the Xion puppet wankery. She exists to be the inciting incident that drives Roxas from the org and needs a bunch of set up because the needed to explain her but it all fall back to Roxas at the end.
Reminder that Nomura was going to keep her and Roxas dead but the fanbase complained so much that he backed down on it.
>bowing down to the fanbase
Also explains why that Naminé b***h was brought back too.
>This is mostly my speculation going off of the content we had before release but at first it seemed like they were being built up to be much more inhuman than they ended up being really playing into that phantasmal non-thing aspect as scientists and watchers of the going on in the world.
This makes complete and utter sense once you see the movie Dark City. Where Dark City (secret movie city) gets its name.
The new big bads are more like this original plan too.
>And the only major plot hole in the series:
can’t wield the Keyblade even though he is the Nobody of TWO Keyblade wielders. One being an actual Keyblade Master
Apparently he could have but chose not to for some unrevealed reason according to an interview. His keyblade did suspiciously have a Gazing Eye from the Master of Masters maybe he knew?
Xemnas seems to know more than even MX. Dude had a decade to ponder shit and do more research.
>>In KH2, Riku said that when him and Roxas fought, he lost but the second time they fought, he won. Riku and Roxas only fought once
You could argue their brief interlude against the Neoshadows made it count as 'two fights', and Roxas definitely didn't win the first round. He won the second but then Riku Ansem'd up.
Are you ready for the finale of Xehanort’s game next month?
Can't believe two guys are animating the whole thing.
Is pic related an example? it look's interesting.
Yes, it's an example. It's Lobotomy Corporation, a roguelite management sim. The gameplay can be frustrating but the story is good.
I’ll play 4 because I actually like the approach they are taking. Game will prob be decent, but I’m not exactly hyped. I don’t think I can be hyped for Disney shit anymore. I fricking loathe Disney these days.
Nomura is based though and I’ll play for my boy Sora.
Have Squeenix learned their lesson and they're not going to release a crapton of tie-in gaiden games? I might look at 4 then.
3 was very underwhelming for all the hype that it got. There were several reveals/twists which seemed lame and out of place.
Nah they are still realising 2/3 KH games before 4 counting Melody of Memories of course
>Have Squeenix learned their lesson and they're not going to release a crapton of tie-in gaiden games?
Dark Road
Melody of Memory
Missing-Link
KH is weird. I recognize that the plot is garbage yet I steel feel compelled to follow it just to see what wacky shit nomura pulls out. DDD completely fricked the story so there wasn't much KH3 could do to salvage it. But if they're basically leaving behind most of the old characters aside from the main 3 and starting somewhat fresh then it could be decent i guess.
My main concerns
>shitty Disney worlds like KH3 with trash stories and level design
>random cutscenes being pre-rendered for seemingly no real reason.
>fricking star wars shit
>animations will be kinda janky like KH3 (at least the base game stuff)
>copy+paste keyblade formchanges
>formchanges will be treated like special moves again rather than as proper alternate weapons
No, Every game after 2 was ass (358s story was fine though). 3 was complete fricking dogshit, im done
Not after 3. It was the single worst game I've ever played. That's not an exaggeration. Nomura is a massive fricking homosexual and I'll never touch anything he directs again.
Hell yeah I do. I'm looking forward to KH4, especially since it has the NEO TWEWY combat director onboard.
no 3 killed my interest
>Nobodies are created by the bodies of people without heart
>She's fricking blonde
Naminé is an anomaly.
And? Sora is dirty blonde and Roxas is pure blonde.
>dirty blonde
Yeah we're already saying how Sora and Roxas are another stupid plot hole
Yes, it's my favorite game series
Havent cared about the "story" since BBS but I still enjoy them for the gameplay and characters, so yes.
I was desperate to see what happens with Namine, Days trio, BBS trio, and to defeat Xehanort once and for all. I don't really care about the next objectives like saving the people from the phone games, finding out about MoM's keikaku, or reading the unused script ideas from Final Fantasy 15. I was obsessed with the franchise but now I'm just a casual fan only mildly interested in what comes next, I still haven't played Melody of Memory.
Melody of Memory is fun if you like Theatrythm. Its basically a sequel to that with only 20 mins of new story.
not even the series itself cares about kingdom hearts anymore
hell no, i waited forever for KH3 and that shit sucked
Honest talk if we didn't have the multiyear drought of non phone stuff in-between DDD and 3 how much better of/ worse off do you think the series would be.
The story could have been destressed a bit with maybe saving at least one of the missing people rescued or some other chore like that. But how would another game be possible? We milked the timeline as much as we could with Recoded, DDD, Fragmentary Passage. Any more adventures happening before the start of KH3 would be kind of silly, they're supposed to take off for urgent errands right after DDD ends.
Its simple you make Dark Road its own game and stick it around 2015 or so.
That way the audience can get an understanding of why Xehanort acted how he did and build up to the Real Org more.
>implying that Nomura had in mind Xehanort's backstory before 3 or even before Dark Road itself
Nomura generally has vague concepts in place two or three games ahead that get solidified down the closer a game gets to release.
We very much could of gotten a Dark Road after DDD, it likely would not be anything like ours but it still could have existed.
I feel like most people who shit on 3 haven't played the DLC, the data fights were amazing.
>3 is good because dlc
that's just pathetic
Not as pathetic as Final Mix versions
I like how people that defend 3 always talk about the updates and DLC and always ignore the plot related stuff
but Ganker told me gameplay>story
Some games have been bad gameplay and good story.
Good mindset but if i had to play a KH game just for the gameplay then i'd play another game in general
Aren't Tokyo Team gameplay designers working on 16? As I recall Forspoken is primarily a Type-0 team joint with a few KH2FM artists and programmers who stayed after 15.
it's true to an extent but if a game has a significant story focus and that story sucks it really sours the whole experience
Steam release when? Hasn't it been over a year now?
You have beaten him with all the pro codes on and on crit right?
Of course man, and I used a PS1 DDR mat while blindfolded once. He stole my moogle coin and he revived, so I gave up on that effort.
no because im not giving those fricking jap israelites another penny
i just started to play it
>BRO DO YOU REMEMBER THIS THING FROM 18 YEARS AGO XD!
no i don't Hades, i fricking don't and this game is cringe now
They fricked up by taking too long to release 3. Most KH 1/2 players are in their 30s now.
yeah Xion was pointless
did Roxas need more reason to leave the Org?
Barely. If KH4 comes out when I think it is, I will be nearing 40, so I would care even less by then, if at all.
The games are still fun to play so yeah.
Yes and no. To me, KH will always be what happened between me and that boy at Ceder Lane. I sort of used him to drop out. As a sort of excuse. It feels awful and sits in me. He was a kind, friendly guy with a KH guide who wanted to be friends with someone else who shared his interests. A Genuinly good man who I would give anything to know today. He, like, tapped me with a the guide and I used it as an excuse, acted like he was being aggressive. I had an older sister who was moronic, and my parents used her as an excuse to goad money out of the distinct. So i followed suit and tried to take advantage. I sacrificed a potential lifelong friend for short term gratification. That's how I relate to Sora's never-ending quest to track down his friends. They mean the world to him. I'll stick with Sora until we literally cannot transcend dimensions to make things right anymore.
Nope
Never played KH3
For me KH ended after 2 tbqh
you guys are the worst tbqh
After waiting what seemed like my entire life for 3, i kind of felt offended when 4 got announced so quickly. It's a really strange feel but it's really off putting.
Nomura didnt want to repeat the long ass wait time. He was going to do a Verum Rex game first but chose KH4 instead because he wanted people to know what happened to Sora asap
I would have preferred a verum rex game
i just want yozora/nameless starr stuff in kh4
don't put a stopgap numbered game between the dlc cliffhanger and verum rex
yeah but verum rex could be Nomura's chance at finally getting closure on Versus XIII
yeah, but yozora is now a disney owned character so he has to be linked to kh anyway
After the shit storm that was KH3, no. Should have ended at 2 with Sora and anything after can be either filler or universe building, leaving Sora to do as he pleases, but not be significant to said filler/universe.
i wish i were a cute boy
Yes the worlds in KH3 were great. The pirates world felt like a different game and while sanfransokyo was just a single map it was what I always wanted the world that never was to be. Just running around a city at night up skyscrapers doing crazy shit. Also the toy story world was full of detail and love really enjoyed that world. Can't wait to see what KH4 looks and plays like. Don't really give a frick about the story at this point but the gameplay and music is always a treat.
>steam fricking never
>he didn't just pirate them day one and thank timmy
Of course kids consider Disney to be lame, globohomosexual won.
I grew up watching all the classics that came 20-30 years before me, these fricks are growing up watching what the israelites tells them to watch instead of the classics that everyone watched before them.
Also the game sucks and Nomura is hack.
KH3 was the best selling game in the series sure most of that was probably because of hype but the series won't be dying anytime soon.
I have seen a bit of a revival thanks to millennial womenchildren twitch streamers who try the series to get a boost in viewership thanks to fans ravenous for new content and by the end of the first game break down crying and go hard into playing the entire series becoming fans by the end.
I kinda insane how many newbie streamers jumped on the bandwagon because of kh3/4 hype.
I make a habit of look for new players to the series to see their first time reactions to certain moments and its wild who some of these people have like 15-100 views average on their other stuff and then get boosted by playing KH if I had some prominent social media platform I would coin the KH Buff or something.
Its also funny how it is almost a reverse of the old KH curse where any YouTube channel that tried to LP the games would burn out and die unless it was like the first on on their channel.
Yeah same call me a homosexual for watching streamers but I find enjoyment out of blind playthroughs especially games like outer wilds where you can never experience it for the first time ever again yourself.
to be h, the end of kh1 is an amazing hook for the rest of the series, or at least until the end of 2
the cliffhanger and new call to adventure is executed masterfully
Literally who cares about it anymore?
KH4 will flop hard and Nomura will taste what it means to give the middle finger to all his fans.
Good morning Barry.
Since when was Barry hyped for Versus?
Do you even know the words you're using, tourist?
We all know you false flag constantly, Barry.
Meds
I wish you would take them.
Based. That gay betrayed his core fan base for the dumb Disney loving casuals, he deserves all the heat he can get.
>mfw Nomura puts even more Versus/VR bait in KH4
Oh, frick off, you hack. 13 years of concept trailers and counting.
Frick Nomura, he thinks he can milk this shitty series until he dies when there is no point in continuing a train wreck called "Kingdom Hearts story" any further. His only contribution to actual gaming was 15 years ago when he asked KH devs to go and make a new IP and we got TWEWY, the rest of his career is writing bad fan fiction for FF7 and Disney properties.
Care enough to keep track of new games being released and the occasional thread, not enough to go out of my way to play every single one or even keep track of the ball of yarn that is this franchise's story and lore.
It's always on my radar even if I don't play every game because I do still quite like its characters. Its plot is nonsensical at worst and just annoyingly convoluted at best (the worst stuff is mostly centered around DDD, you should never introduce time travel and have it be that fundamental to the story), along with Nomura's seeming inability to just let things be. Nobody can just stay down. I can only HOPE Xehanort is gonna be near-totally absent from 4 but frick I am not even sure of that. The only character who seems to not get the screentime they need is Kairi.
I havent bothered playing KH3 yet so I guess not.
I do want to play KH4 if its set in the modern world tho. Or at least if theres no Disney shit to completely put me off.
bbs, 3d, and 3 were a never ending escalation of bad and unnecessary developments with 3 in particular being a gigantic disappointment even theough they slightly patched it up later. It's hard to care about anything coming after them. The series ends at 2 though I also respect what days attempted even though I don't think it was very good
>Want to read some KH smut
>It's all either gay shit or self insert crap written for women
>Art department isn't much better with little actual porn but has been getting better over the years
Guess I could try getting some commissions done but frickers are always in high demand.
Uh, what the hell were you expecting? KH smut has been dominated by girls for 20 years.
Shit has been getting better in a few places over the years and you would think KH would too but I guess I just have stupid dreams.
>no story of Sora and Kairi having their first time, causing Roxas and Namine to also metaphysically loose their virginities to each other
>there is more to seek, so go seek it
KINO
Yeah. While KH3 felt like a rush job, it's still fun to run around the Disney worlds. Gameplay is a bit unbalanced, magic is too powerful, not sure if Critikal, lvl 1 run or whatever is better, Proud is my limit, haven't played the DLC, heard it was underwhelming except for the Yozora fight. The story just went pants on moronic near the end though. Not that it's complex or anything, just some characters "death" just felt awkward, like why insert a cutscene in the middle of a fight? Can't the org members vanish together, why does knocking down one guy, the whole world pauses just so the org member can deliver his/her final speech. That shit was so fricking moronic.
Here is the objective truth
Gameplay
>2fm>re:coded>1fm>BBSfm>COM>dogshit>days>DDD
Plot
>1fm>2fm>CoM riku side>dogshit>everything else
Kingdom Hearts went off the rails after 2. Story and character design were red flags, but also the fact that most people who played 1&2 had already graduated middle-school/college and were no longer the angsty demographic anymore.
