True, I'd trust him over mod wolf and anything jagex/runescape ever if anything
And then Jagex implemented trade limit anyway.
Runescape was great for teaching kids about scams so they maybe don't fall for shit later in life
i havent been scammed since

How? I guess it scammed me out of spending time outside but kid me had great fun playing
I am indifferent to the gay shit in osrs. However, I love the mindbreaking and shitter shattering it does to guys like him. Man made hating on items nobody uses in Runescape his whole identity

As someone who plays both, RS3 definitely is. OS has the occasional thing, but nowhere near the same. I don't know if it's a british thing either, that they have to score brownie LGBT points to not get fined or some insanity. It's probably just a marketing thing, hit diversity quota, "we're not justa game for straight white males between the ages of 25 and 40, who couldn't afford Wow".
Holy frick if those numbers are what I think they are then it really does go to show that the average dumbfrick shouldn't be allowed to use statistics.
It is sad you are the only person in the replies who asked this question instead of just accepting the statistics at face value like all the other morons
is that weighted per capita or is it just saying there are way more zoomers than boomers on the internet?
Literally moronic takes. Don't go fricking "DUDUDUFRRURURU DA PEOPLE DON'T UDDER STAND THE STATERTSTICS SD msf dkf sd" if you don't even understand this shit yourself. Your kind of idiocy is far more annoying than someone just using a statistic wrong.
The statistic still holds in the way they are implying it.
If you take a Random Gen Z, and and Random Boomer. The Gen Z will have been caught up on an online scam at more 3x the rate as the boomer.
Take 100 random Gen Z, Take 100 random Boomers, you would expect 16 Gen Z to be scammed online, and only 5 Boomers to have been scammed online.
Is that all you understood from my post, moron? Frick you, you turd worlder imbecile

There's nothing to understand in your post. You just restated the google search that the other anon posted.
But I suppose a thirdie like you has a lot of trouble getting their point across effectively.
Zoomers are extremely gullible about anything streamers and other online personalities push, they are parasocialized as frick.
Some financial scams some zoomers fall to is paying money for "finance courses" of tiktokers that practically just "teach" them to commit frauds in effort to get rich quick with loan money.
My homie, let me tell you about this $6,400 stimulus relief for weed fund bill that just passed. I know, I know- I thought it was fake too, so I called this number (check the link below) and I couldn't believe it. It was real. Two weeks later, $6,400 was deposited into my account. No strings attached. Also remember to download Last War: Survival.
Have you ever worked with them? They are dumb as frick. They can't even do basic computer tasks without someone showing them. Back then, people just used google to solve those issues.
I had to bail out a girl for falling for a "platonic sugar momma" scam while she was in college. She got ripped off for around $7000 when she gave them access to her bank account.
Its two sides of the same coin. Both are phishing scams, its just who the scammer impersonates changes: >Baby boomers: usually a government entity or close relative >Zoomers: usually an eceleb or big corporation like amazon
Tiktok is full of AI generated mr.beast videos, because they work.
Only thing I can think of is maybe when they're trying to frick a prostitute and the prostitute asks for a deposit before meeting up only to end up never meeting up. usually the prostitute will ask for cashapp or some shit
>omg guiz sub to my onlyfans and you'll see nudes >there's no nudes
Zoomer boys probably fall for it a lot considering every single one of them has female classmates and/or classmates' mothers turning into onlyfans prostitutes as soon as possible nowadays.
this makes sense though. as technology becomes more automated and exact, people don't need to know about those things. I agree it's moronic but if in the future people just use AI glasses to do what we do now why would they ever learn how to open a zip.
Just because someone has the tools to unzip, doesn't mean they know how to do it
3 months ago
Anonymous
It does it automatically nowadays you naive dipshit, your system will straight up ask you the moment it's downloaded. Stop believing everything you read online.

nta I'm using windows 11 and downloaded a bunch of doujin yesterday and it didn't automatically ask if I wanted to unzip them

can confirm (i have a moronic friend) it does not recognize the zip format by default and my friend told me, and I QUOTE, "that program turned all my icons into books, it's a virus"
Always thought shit like this was an exaggeration until I started teaching first year engineering students.
I had to explain shit like how to download and open a file.
From watching my zoomer nephew get scammed out of $300, they basically are way too quick to think they finally made it. Like they believe they will be rich with no effort because it's due to them so when it seems like it finally happened, they jump in feet first. It was really funny when it happened because he bragged about it and was about getting $1000 a week for the rest of his life, said shit like "I won't ever have to work like my dad said" and then he got scammed and was trying to get a lawyer to sue Facebook for the thousand dollars a week figure because it happened on Facebook.
Holy frick if those numbers are what I think they are then it really does go to show that the average dumbfrick shouldn't be allowed to use statistics.
True. Kids spend more time online than boomers. Gen Z is 0% likely to engage in phone scams, but a boomer will send their SS check to a long lost cousin who ran out of gas.
Some of the scams are pretty robust nowadays. The recruiting scams I've seen are pretty nuts. There are companies now that will have a legitimate looking website, professional emails, manage to get ads highly promoted on linkedin, indeed, etc., and string you along through 8+ hours worth of job interviews before revealing that there is a $10,000+ "training fee" that you need to pay before you start the "job". It's basically about emotional manipulation, not actual trickery. They batter you with several rounds of interviews and unprompted phone calls and intentional bureaucracy random delays or moving dates around so you feel like you "earned" it.
There are a lot of red flags usually >First followup is a phone call instead of an email >Will call your phone dozens of times in a row instead of leaving a voicemail >Indian person on the phone >emails containing the word "kindly" or "sir" >Very generic or very eccentric names >none of the employees have linkedin or anything like that >asking you to send X person an email instead of replying to the current email >asking you to send a resume when you already sent a resume during your application
It's enough that I was always able to filter out these jackasses before spending 20 minutes of my time, but I see how somebody who was just a bit naive could fall for this
Honestly the process of finding a job needs to be reworked, there should be an official government site that is regulated that you send your information through, applying for jobs on indeed is sketchy as frick, they expect for you to send basically all your information including your SSN for onboarding paperwork, and even huge companies use third party onboarding sites to facilitate the process, definitely needs to be more regulated.
No, they get phished IRL instead.
Nobody scams you for the equivalent of like .50 cents now a days, they are now attempting to ruin your life.
You can see this in viruses too. Modern viruses hide and try to scrape as much data from you as possible, where old ones would troll you and rip your PC to shreds. The former is way more dangerous long term.
Everything is global now and everyone is using the internet. 20 years ago somebody in india couldn't make a full time job out of scamming you online, it just wasn't viable. Now it is.
Its an unfortunate side effect of the world becoming more connected.
The one time I got ""scammed"" on roblox was when I bought a t shirt that said badass on it with red text Bd and fingerless gloves. On the back of the shirt, there was a "kick me" sign. Wasn't really a scam, but I thought it would be worth mentioning
I genuinely believe without hyperbole that RuneScape immunized me from shit that people who gave their life savings to Bernie Madoff or went all-in on Enron shares suffered, let alone every motherfricking senior citizen who ever gave their social security and bank routing numbers to a random pajeet who called them
I was never into Runescape but Diablo 2 taught me plenty of lessons about scamming. Which as a good citizen I of course immediately used against other people.
i got lured once and one time literally gave someone my password, not like i lost anything important i was a low lvl f2p but i didn't learn anything with these experiences, you learn with maturing, is more a function of your brain maturing than it is getting experiences
I remember a coin doubling scam with crypto 1-2 years back which was just a dude telling people to give him coins to double and people just handed them over.
Word around the office is the credit card companies were threatening to pull out due to people stealing credit cards then RWTing to basically launder the money.
Ye, I lost a level 30 something account and learned to be wary of all kinds of sussy behavior. And the pain of dying in wildy with good gear on an unoptimised character may even have taught me to be more thrifty and careful in general too.
This
I got scammed back when the game was purely 2d (even before RS2) and sent in an email about it
They basically told me to deal with it and not trust people, "if it's too good to be true, it probably is"
It's a hard lesson to learn at 9ish years old but it was a good lesson
Nowadays if you get scammed, you get all your shit back and the scammer gets banned - the lesson is not learned
One mean scam I experienced was some party drop (I forget what it exactly was called) where I got a particularly valuable item and some guy came up to me and said he accidentally put it in there and if he could have it back. He had his friend with him and said he just wanted to show it off to the friend but messed up. I said "yeah" then world swapped because I didn't want to give it up. It took me several years to realize what they were doing.
It still kind of makes me angry to this day because that was preying on people's kindness, instead of their greed, like free armor trimming.
Runescape instilled a healthy sense of skepticism in me which has served me well in life, but I can't help but feel it has also made me a more cynical person overall.
Too true. It taught me about supply and demand as well.
I wasted so many hours in runescape, it had some soul but it was honestly a shit game. I'm glad I walked away with some valuable lessons at least.
Would it be cruel if you were to do one of these "scams" but then actually did it? Like, imagine if you pulled the "gimme ur password and I'll buy [special currency]" and then actually did it?
I kinda had that happen to me back then. Some random kid got attached to me for some reason and he straight up gave me his password and asked me to help him do monkey madness because he was scared and didn't want to do it himself. Best part? I actually did login and do it for him without stealing a single gp, mostly because I really liked monkey madness and felt like replaying it. I made sure to also tell him to not trust strangers like this and dont tell anyone his password. And I was a kid back then too, but I was always kind of a moralgay. Come to think of it the kid hit the jackpot because I was probably the only kid out of ten thousand who wouldn't steal his shit.
I still remember his name and wonder if I stunted his growth somewhat by making him too trustful of strangers. I wonder how you're doing, Stealbullet3.
>that time someone in Falador said if I gave them my login info they’d buy me membership >obviously stole my account and emptied my bank >complain about this in front of my mom who then thinks hackers will use my Runescape password to somehow access my dad’s bank account and find our house and murder us and beats my ass
>complain about this in front of my mom who then thinks hackers will use my Runescape password to somehow access my dad’s bank account and find our house and murder us and beats my ass

>be me >10 or some shit >can't buy borderlands dlc, my grandma won't buy it for me >playing dead island, some guy talking about how he owns it. I had modded guns that some random gave me >convince this guy that I can mod his game too, but I need his account to do it. >immediately change his password, and email. Max out his credit card on everything else I wanted, then spent the rest on non-refundable MLG gamer pics just to frick with him until it hit the limit >realize how easy scamming is, start advertising my modding services to anybody and everybody I can on dead island, howing it off with the guns somebody else gave me >eventually one guy says something like 'wait you're that scammer aren't you?' and I immediately shit myself, set my console offline, freak out any time I see a cop and never scammed again.
Didn't go on the internet for like 2 years because I was so worried this guy was going to get me somehow. MLG better thank me because I probably spent like $10000 on those shitty gamerpics
My friend called me one evening asking for my password because he wanted to see my account and he was my friend so I gave it to him, but five minutes later I couldn't log in because the password changed and he totally had no idea how that happened, seriously.
I don't know what it was about that game that turned people into utter scum. I'm not innocent either. I feel bad looking back at it. Those were real people man...
Wouldn't it be really funny if you trained an AI to mimic someone's voice because they put tons of clips of their voice on social media then you had that AI impersonate them to their loved ones without their knowledge hahaha
>got scamtraded a noted iron 2h instead of rune one and lost nearly 60k back in the day
I still remember it, one of the most traumatizing experience in me younger years
Now a days yes. Back in the day you'd spend months beating up cows to do it, because everybody was a dumb ass kid who spent more time talking to people than actually doing content.
>nowaday its flipped and people playing the game actually play the game instead of standing around talking >this leads people to claim the game is a shadow of itself and that the GE ruined everything
Not that anon but way back on the original RuneScap that osrs is based off of, it was approximately 10,000,000 go for a set of adamant armor. You can understand how hard it was to get real armor back then, dragon was close to a billion. The rwt prices back then were 5 dollars per million gp.

Runescape classic wasn't in the 90s and no, that shit didn't cost 10 million dipshit. You could buy most of the set from stores, it was ~7k for platelegs and ~17k for a platebody, basically the same it is nowadays from stores still.

Stop lying idiot. Maybe for eight million you could get some addy but it’s much easier nowadays because they want sub money. Know your place sit down listen and learn something

I know this is just lazy shitposting, but for anyone who actually cares, the Champion's guild shop that sold it came out in February of 2001, about a month after the game itself did.

I only played classic a bit and I remember gold being about the same value as rs2.
At the very least I remember that one supposed money making technique of buying 2xCoal (200gp each) and 1xIron (100gp) and smithing bars then selling them as certs for 500 gp each (though I never understood why this would make money...)
This is roughly the same as today where iron is still ~100gp though coal is 330gp apparently
in RS2 (06/07) 1.5k would be green dhide my boy. Cow might be 150-200gp. No way is someone sending 1.5k per cow hide for the amount of xp or alch value opportunity.
What? An addy plate is 9.4k right now, cowhides are going for 146 each. Thats 3 inventories JUST for the platebody.
Regardless the numbers don't matter anyways, people weren't being efficient with their time back in the day. They were too busy trying to break into the vault in varrok bank or talking to their friends about what happened at soccer practice yesterday.
I was a moron who thought the fastest way to get the armor was to make it myself.
So I became a master miner.
I distinctly remember in my earliest days I would constantly die and lose most of my shit, and whenever I did I would mine an inventory of tin/copper/iron and make new shit on the spot
>spend months getting first set of addy >get a rune sword as well, fricking crazy how much lobby fishing and certing I had to do >finally gunna try DS >no fricking strong enough, couldn't out heal per 3 hits, die >FUUUUUUUUUUUCK
>round 2 mother fricker >I got better/faster at fishing, so the rebuild wasn't too insane like a month >got fricking rune legs/helm + addy pl8 this time >forgot the fricking shield >die in 2 hits
>round 3 >same shit >had the shield this time >bothered with swordfish as well >eye did it!
Yea, it was rough that first few tries. Most people didn't really have stats above 50-60. Played maybe 2-3 hours a day if I even managed to at all. The scamming and crazy shit didn't start until RS2 for me, and hell I still did really shit money makers like alching yew/magic longs by cutting the wood myself and making my own nats, HOURS of work for a measly 500~gp 'profit' per bow (bought strings, cut & fletched the logs, bought ess, crafted nats).
Should I pay for OSRS membership again? I let it run out so I could glitch the game and get my special snowflake blue circle under my character. I unsubscribed a month or two before Forestry I think.
This. You go to clan wars with membership, go into tutorial, log out, wait for membership to end, and when you log back in you'll have been teleported out of clan wars with the blue circle stuck on you. It can't be unequipped normally, you have to get it forcibly removed by the Chaos Elemental or a similar mechanic.
Odd. I guess its up to you if you wanna keep it or not. I assume its not fixed because they don't know about it, so if anything the longer you bankstand around showing it off the higher the chance is it gets fixed.
I'd just have my fun with it and move on, personally.

Of course I'm keeping it, it's a pain in the ass to set up. It's existed for at least the better part of a year, it's not a secret or anything, it made the rounds already. I bet they don't know how to fix it without making some big unnecessary change or alteration to clan wars stuff.

Its probably just not enough of a priority right now. Didn't they recently get bought out again?
>give guy my account >later feel like playing again >recover account using support >account now has a few more levels and some free items >guy pms me "dude you fricking scammed me'
it might even have been a guy on Ganker I gave the account to
My younger brother got a 3 day ban back in the day because he was selling fake accounts.
He would write down some real player names and tell noobs they could have a level 50 for 50k or something. Then when they logged to "log in to" the new account he would world hop and do it again.
I remember the first time ever I got scammed in runescape he told me he was gonna give me some thousands of gold I just had to follow him across some wall and enable pk good times
A lot of people do Iron Man to basically block themselves from the GE and trading entirely, but that's only appropriate if you really appreciate the grinding autism and the work it takes to even get an amulet of glory. It's worth it, they're still constantly adding shit both for end game and the mid/early game. They're actually developing the sailing skill right now, no bullshit. There's stuff to do, people to talk to, but the bots are fricking horrendous and Jagex is incapable of stopping them. The economy is pretty fricked from botting and the early game is a little screwed up because you can kind of just skip a lot of it with how cheap some shit is now, but it's kind of stable. It's still runescape.
Is osrs worth getting into today or not worth it with everyone having 10,000 hours?
The ultimate "do you wanna cheat or not" choice is rushing Waterfall Quest
You can literally do it within five minutes of creating a character and then you'll instantly be level 30, having skipped the entire Bronze, Iron, Steel, Black and Mithril equipment tiers and now strong enough to fight... 25% of the things in the game?
Waterfall Quest
Fight Arena
Witch's House
Tree Gnome Village
Holy Grail
Among others
If you know what to do early on you can get most of your skills to 30-40 solely through questing at the start. That's what I did on my ironman, did like 40-50 quests right at the start and skipped the annoying early grind for lots of skills.
they need to make some kind of autism man mode where, to unlock higher levels and methods, you first have to grind out prior shittier exp making methods. like even if you have 99 firemaking, you can't burn oak logs unless you've spent at least an hour burning normal logs
Play it and see if you're okay with the early and mid game, and then when you get to bossing and raids you'll see if you care about it and if you don't it's safe to drop.
I'd say it's still 100% worth it. I picked up OSRS again and the community is so nice. I got random people just giving me free shit when I said I was a returning player, it's like the opposite of what I remember from back when I was a kid. Probably because most players nowadays are 30+ year old boomers like me.
That's one key weird detail about OSRS that's pretty nice. It's a lot of late millenials/zillenials/early zoomers, they make up most of the OSRS playerbase. After bots, anyways.
>mfw never fell for the scams >mfw wore void armor with dbow >mfw I was that annoying shit who popped you after you won a duel and stole everything >mfw got full dharok and a whip one day
The amount of seething hatred I got via PMs was legendary.
>Spent like 10 years playing >Tried every money making method, resource runs, raids, GE trading, the works >Never made much money >Decide to just fricking gamble in the duel arena one day >Make 300M boxing
Everything felt like a waste after that.
I had a runescape gf once when I was 10 and she was 13. We called each other and she was from New York and then my dad beat the shit out of me because he thought I gave our number to a pedophile but she sounded really cute bros...
People were playing to socialize, not maximize.
This change can be seen across gaming as a whole, most modern online games don't even have a chat functionality built in.
Having lived through that era I have a strange feeling that Quake ruined everything
Because you had to be the sweatiest most autistic tryhard possible to get anywhere in Quake, a motherfricker who was 5% better at the game than you would curb-stomp you 100-2
I personally would say SC2. "Esports" as a concept existed before that of course, but that was when it felt like the whole scene exploded in popularity. Then things like LoL and DOTA got big and it was over, nobody could just play online games for fun anymore.

Runescape players back then: just got home from school, gonna call michael on skype and we can kill some green dragons!!! holy crap, 200k, we're friggin rich!!!!
It was built like a point and click adventure game with combat added in. Had a very sometimes goofy "British children's story book" feel to it. I especially like how the player character was always presented as just some random guy stumbling his way into crazy shit and using it to his advantage.
The player character is also such a fricking character. You get so many opportunities to make smarmy remarks at people and when something is utter bullshit he calls NPCs out on it. It's great.

I really wish there was an OSRS that just stayed at 2007. I get that it needs new content for people to nolife but I just don't see the point. Looking at vids of OSRS today is not nostalgic at all.
That's what OSRS was. It lasted for a while until people got really bored of it, then they added some slight shit like Goblin Invasion while they tripped over themselves trying to figure out how to work with the janky ass code for a real update.
this, and it was way more accessible. I miss northeastern varrock being populated on every f2p world, and edgeville being the same on p2p, it made finding a fight easy. You didn't have all these archaic meta bullshit to account for and could have fun fights for moderate risk. Nowadays it's literally just a contest of who has the better scripts to switch weapons/armor/cast spells/change prayers, because jagex refuses to update the menus, otherwise the streamers will get upset if they have to play differently, even though they forced their homosexual meta on everyone and never actually played in real 2004-2007
Not viable. RS classic did this and eventually had to shut down due to lack of interest, there have been hundreds of private servers over the years with similar fates.
The truth is if you don't add new content the flame will eventually burn so low you can't justify paying for servers anymore.
Runescape is also not a game that works well with a super low player count. Once the numbers get too low some quests and mini games become straight up unplayable. You basically become an even more restricted iron man.
The world peaked in 2011. We had windows 7, halo 1-3 and reach, world of warcraft and runescape before they sold out, CoD was actually fun, skyrim and minecraft fever was insane, before the woke idiots and politics were everywhere... FRICK TAKE ME BACK
>saw someone saying this as a kid >knew it was a scam >kept following him around GE spamming SCAM SCAM DONT TRADE WITH HIM >he eventually hops worlds >a great feeling of success washes over me
Never played runescape but I remember guessing the password (1111) for room AAA in Diablo 2 and stealing a bunch of stuff dropped on the ground from two dudes muling. >who are you? >a thief lol. Bye!
Me and an IRL friend used to make games named "priv" with the password "priv" until one day a couple of dudes joined the server because they were doing the exact same thing for their private games. We shifted to phrase name/password combinations after that like >game name: HowGoesDah >password: laddah
Lately it's been more like 50 average.
But enjoy osrs where you're taxed 10mil in 2 weeks or forced to wageslave just to play content that hasn't even been accurate since 2014, where 80% of the "community" is just bots with randomly generated usernames. Lmao
Vscape mods constantly cry about osrs and jagex being gay meanwhile their server and friends list are filled with trannies and pedophiles.
All in all very hypocritical and moronic plus they let all of their friends openly break the rules in game multilog/bot and cheat
I shit you not, as a kid I made the moronic decision to give my Dragon armor set to someone, not sure why I did that? Maybe it was Rune armor instead, either way he just sat down and teleported away in front of me. I never saw him again, and I remember crying.
Honestly some of my best memories of this game came from going through the wild west of shitty moparscape tier servers that would usually crash and burn within a few months.
I remember the absolute fiasco of when 2006scape got shut down after only doing a public castle wars server test for a day, so everyone hopped over to Davidscape and proceeded to burn it to the ground.
im going to spam the frick out of Gankerscape with new characters and a proxy if you don't knock this shit off, you're such an annoying homosexual, please have a nice day
Runescape was a creation of Tavistock and various think-tanks to create a simulacrum that would capture and ultimately waste the best years of mens lives
men who could potentially upset the status quo
It was containment
We grew up in an era of stranger danger. These idiots all grew up in an era of myshit and homosexualbook which encouraged directly using personally identifiable information as part of the service, making it semi-public (which the company wouldn't use/sell right?). Unless you knew the other idiot you were talking to IRL, you didn't leak sensitive information.
I was "taught" about scamming as a teen by being harassed by a scam lawyer who later went to jail.
It taught me a bit about how to handle legal issues, so it was a good lesson.
Its fine now a days because you can teleport everywhere and use a guide, but back in the day it was horrible.
Underground pass/regicide was similar. They are piss easy today, but as a kid I was stuck in the underground pass for 3 days.
You may be thinking, who cares? Just fake points in a make believe world, but... it costs 60 bucks a year to play, hours of time to gain power, and there are dozens of sites offering coins to use in runescape... for a fee, timmy received and spent 140 real dollars for virtual swords and armor, making him more powerful in the game, all of it's gone now.
Blowpipe is just a new weapon, infernal cape is harder fight caves since fight caves have been powecrept pretty hard. One of the waves is you fighting 3 jads at once.
Even still you can do fight caves and jad with all 2007 or older gear. I did it with full guthans/karils and a bunch of brews, it was pretty easy.
Got scammed in Ragnarok Online when I was a kid and I never recovered from the trust issues I developed from that.
So no I don't trust him. Especially today with all of the pahjeets online.
Runescape players back then: just got home from school, gonna call michael on skype and we can kill some green dragons!!! holy crap, 200k, we're friggin rich!!!!
What are some skills (besides combat) I could easily afk through out the day?
AFKing red woods seems alright, everything else seems like you need to click at least every minute or so.
Mining has shooting stars, it takes a little effort to get going but when you do it's 7 minutes per click
Fishing Karambwans is always good
They added bonfires a while back. It's bad xp vs normal firemaking but extremely afk
Making cannon balls for Smithing
Herbibore for Hunter and Herblore
Making glass items for crafting
Plank make/enchantment for Magic
Blood/Soul runecrafting.
That's fair.
At the end of the day I just like spending time with my friends and raids are a good way to do that. I'm shit at the game and so are all my buddies but the banter is good so it's all okay.
I don't remember much about my time playing Runescape.. I remember seeing people constantly say shit like "Look, Jagex is blocking your password in chat, try it out! *****" and people would actually fall for it and post their passwords in the chat.
I also have fond memories of some bank where you could go to the basement, and if you had high enough magic skill you could levitate items from the vault behind bars to into your hands. I remember standing there watching people do it and being so jelly
Yes. There's a new mechanic where the longer you stay there's more of a chance of Monsters tag teaming you out of nowhere but yes players can't jump you anymore.
I wonder how badly that affected the player count and income from membership
Pkers were the majority back then
Players only pvm when they lose in the wildy to regear.
The based mods joined the falador riots and risked their accounts (or jobs for actual jmods, no jmod's left that isn't part of globohomo), both during wilderness removal and when they mandated pride parades.
Unlike now you have gay redditor pvmscaper
Post proof of you killing corrupt gauntlet and I might care about your opinion. Use ground makers and make the last 4 digets of my post
who think it's some kind of great achievement to play against npcs than uniting multiple clans in massive alliances to go multiway combat where a few dscim hits would kill you even without snares.
Remind me Anons, trying to get money for a bond as a f2p is like, the worst waste of time in existence yeah? I remember trying for fun and the f2p actually being fairly cool, just not really ever getting enough moolah for one of those I think. Been some years though.
Pretty much. Bite the bullet and spend real cash for your first bond or two, and use that time to build up the account until you can make enough gp to self-sustain.
>before the grand exchange was in the game and before buying as bank notes from store >find out about member forums >people buy bulk regular logs for 100g/ea >lumbridge general store full of botted logs for 1g/ea >recruit noobs to bring logs for me for 30g/ea >make several mil in a week
I see no reason not to trust him
True, I'd trust him over mod wolf and anything jagex/runescape ever if anything
Playing runescape is one of if not the biggest scam you could fall for
>Playing runescape is one of if not the biggest scam you could fall for
How? I guess it scammed me out of spending time outside but kid me had great fun playing
dont bother, that guy replies to every single runescape thread and spams it with images of 'runescape is pozzed lgbt woke' etc
I am indifferent to the gay shit in osrs. However, I love the mindbreaking and shitter shattering it does to guys like him. Man made hating on items nobody uses in Runescape his whole identity
t.
Pmods means nothing and do it for free
>Pmods means
Holy ESL
Here are your Jmods in hrtscape hrtscaper
As someone who plays both, RS3 definitely is. OS has the occasional thing, but nowhere near the same. I don't know if it's a british thing either, that they have to score brownie LGBT points to not get fined or some insanity. It's probably just a marketing thing, hit diversity quota, "we're not justa game for straight white males between the ages of 25 and 40, who couldn't afford Wow".
Old school runescape is not real old school
The quests now aren't like the ones you used to know in groomscape.
What does that have to do with the guy I replied to saying I got scammed by playing RS? I loved playing it as a kid, it's one of my fondest memories
Modern RS is a scam
Playing it as a kid 25 years ago wasn't a scam unlike now
Unironically that was my exact thinking way back as a kid when I gave some dude my adamant shit for free.
Of course he has full rune that means he beat dragon slayer. How could I not trust him?
>he's wearing full rune
>therefore, he has no use for adamant
>he has no reason to scam me!
>says you can trust him
>asks if you can trust him
are you moronic?
Runescape was great for teaching kids about scams so they maybe don't fall for shit later in life
True. Look what happened without it.
Holy frick if those numbers are what I think they are then it really does go to show that the average dumbfrick shouldn't be allowed to use statistics.
Gen Z is just lost cause
is that weighted per capita or is it just saying there are way more zoomers than boomers on the internet?
It is sad you are the only person in the replies who asked this question instead of just accepting the statistics at face value like all the other morons
Take 100 random Gen Z, Take 100 random Boomers, you would expect 16 Gen Z to be scammed online, and only 5 Boomers to have been scammed online.
t. moron who doesn't understand stats
Is that all you understood from my post, moron? Frick you, you turd worlder imbecile
There's nothing to understand in your post. You just restated the google search that the other anon posted.
But I suppose a thirdie like you has a lot of trouble getting their point across effectively.
I don't know, everyone falling for an Apple gift card scam is 60+.
What scams are targeting zoomers? MLM?
>What scams are targeting zoomers? MLM?
"content creators"
>What scams are targeting zoomers?
Crypto scams mostly and giving out personal information via discord baiting
Zoomers are extremely gullible about anything streamers and other online personalities push, they are parasocialized as frick.
Some financial scams some zoomers fall to is paying money for "finance courses" of tiktokers that practically just "teach" them to commit frauds in effort to get rich quick with loan money.
zoomers mainly fall victim to random shitcoins pushed by dudebro grifters that flex a rented lambo in a few videos
Both are phishing scams, its just who the scammer impersonates changes:
>Baby boomers: usually a government entity or close relative
>Zoomers: usually an eceleb or big corporation like amazon
Tiktok is full of AI generated mr.beast videos, because they work.
>AI generated mr.beast videos
What a time to be alive
Only thing I can think of is maybe when they're trying to frick a prostitute and the prostitute asks for a deposit before meeting up only to end up never meeting up. usually the prostitute will ask for cashapp or some shit
>omg guiz sub to my onlyfans and you'll see nudes
>there's no nudes
Zoomer boys probably fall for it a lot considering every single one of them has female classmates and/or classmates' mothers turning into onlyfans prostitutes as soon as possible nowadays.
The frick. Boomers fall for the dumbest scams all the time. How is another generation worse? How doomed are we?
You guys have to remember this is the generation who can't open a zip file.
this makes sense though. as technology becomes more automated and exact, people don't need to know about those things. I agree it's moronic but if in the future people just use AI glasses to do what we do now why would they ever learn how to open a zip.
Fake. All modern operating systems include some form of basic unzipping functionality. You're are a dumb baiting Black person.
(P.S.: I had to evade someone else's ban just to retype this shit, verbatim, and post this. Hahaha jannies you can't beat me lmao,)
Just because someone has the tools to unzip, doesn't mean they know how to do it
It does it automatically nowadays you naive dipshit, your system will straight up ask you the moment it's downloaded.
(referring to winrar)
Always thought shit like this was an exaggeration until I started teaching first year engineering students.
I had to explain shit like how to download and open a file.
Closed garden devices were a mistake.
Boomers fall for nigerian email scams while zoomers fall for shit like the Ganker mobile ad spots
How are they so bad?
From watching my zoomer nephew get scammed out of $300, they basically are way too quick to think they finally made it. Like they believe they will be rich with no effort because it's due to them so when it seems like it finally happened, they jump in feet first. It was really funny when it happened because he bragged about it and was about getting $1000 a week for the rest of his life, said shit like "I won't ever have to work like my dad said" and then he got scammed and was trying to get a lawyer to sue Facebook for the thousand dollars a week figure because it happened on Facebook.
>Ganker boomers are now posting about having nephews
End it.
You're pretty stupid huh.
An entire generation of CWC
Its more like a second generation of baby boomers. The way gen z acts is almost verbatim of how baby boomers behave, its wild.
True. Kids spend more time online than boomers. Gen Z is 0% likely to engage in phone scams, but a boomer will send their SS check to a long lost cousin who ran out of gas.
Zoomies don't know shit besides Twitter and Tiktok
I think it varies, my 8 year old niece (not native English) was already using a username in roblox that expressed a severe hatred for scammers.
Damn. I forsure am gonna make my kids play some online MMO and then I create a secret account where I scam them, so they learn a valuable lesson.
yeah and there's 100x more of them online
this is Black person tier "overall murders by race" not adjusting for per-capita
There were 1000x more millennials/gen X online back in the day too. Yet we don't fall for scams, because runescape taught us better.
I mean don't Zoomers just spend more time online than Boomers?
shit, maybe i should scam low-iq Black personzoomers as my day job
no, only jeets, chinks, and slavs should do that
Some of the scams are pretty robust nowadays.
There are a lot of red flags usually
>First followup is a phone call instead of an email
>Will call your phone dozens of times in a row instead of leaving a voicemail
>Indian person on the phone
>emails containing the word "kindly" or "sir"
>Very generic or very eccentric names
>none of the employees have linkedin or anything like that
>asking you to send X person an email instead of replying to the current email
>asking you to send a resume when you already sent a resume during your application
It's enough that I was always able to filter out these jackasses before spending 20 minutes of my time, but I see how somebody who was just a bit naive could fall for this
Honestly the process of finding a job needs to be reworked, there should be an official government site that is regulated that you send your information through, applying for jobs on indeed is sketchy as frick, they expect for you to send basically all your information including your SSN for onboarding paperwork, and even huge companies use third party onboarding sites to facilitate the process, definitely needs to be more regulated.
how can you be more gullible than the generation who keep the entire indian phone scammer industry running
as a zoomer scammed on runescape this was very true
do zoomers get scammed on roblox and fortnite nowadays?
No, they get phished IRL instead.
Nobody scams you for the equivalent of like .50 cents now a days, they are now attempting to ruin your life.
You can see this in viruses too. Modern viruses hide and try to scrape as much data from you as possible, where old ones would troll you and rip your PC to shreds. The former is way more dangerous long term.
When did it all go wrong?
Everything is global now and everyone is using the internet. 20 years ago somebody in india couldn't make a full time job out of scamming you online, it just wasn't viable. Now it is.
Its an unfortunate side effect of the world becoming more connected.
Thirdies got online en masse.
They're scum people. There's a reason their nations are shitholes and it's not because of (non)magic dirt.
it happens a lot in roblox games that (for some reason) allow item trading
Spoke with a zoomer that plays Roblox:
Yes, scams happen a frickton in Roblox.
Fortnite doesn't have cosmetic trading, but in the OG save the world mode, there were constant weapon trade scams.
Which as a good citizen I of course immediately used against other people.
i havent been scammed since
i got lured once and one time literally gave someone my password, not like i lost anything important i was a low lvl f2p but i didn't learn anything with these experiences, you learn with maturing, is more a function of your brain maturing than it is getting experiences
Yep. My friend who has never played runescape fell for an NFT scam.
I remember a coin doubling scam with crypto 1-2 years back which was just a dude telling people to give him coins to double and people just handed them over.
I'm legit thankful for the guys that took me for a sucker back then. Snapped me out of my naivety in a way that didn't have IRL consequences.
And then Jagex implemented trade limit anyway.
Word around the office is the credit card companies were threatening to pull out due to people stealing credit cards then RWTing to basically launder the money.
i read the scholastic book fair guide for runescape so i knew to look out for scams as well as lots of outdated and questionable tips for the game
I got scammed of my whole account
haven't fell into any scams ever since
That's pretty much the entirety of the internet for the digital native generations
It still kind of makes me angry to this day because that was preying on people's kindness, instead of their greed, like free armor trimming.
>playing
>meet moron skiller from netherlands
>he falls for the "click this link for big giveaway" shit
>laugh
Runescape instilled a healthy sense of skepticism in me which has served me well in life, but I can't help but feel it has also made me a more cynical person overall.
Too true. It taught me about supply and demand as well.
I wasted so many hours in runescape, it had some soul but it was honestly a shit game. I'm glad I walked away with some valuable lessons at least.
Runescape taught me to type fast and enjoy socializing with effectively anonymous strangers that I'll never speak to again.
Totally agree.
my nephew just got scam all his shits on roblox the other days
I wonder how you're doing, Stealbullet3.
>that time someone in Falador said if I gave them my login info they’d buy me membership
>obviously stole my account and emptied my bank
>complain about this in front of my mom who then thinks hackers will use my Runescape password to somehow access my dad’s bank account and find our house and murder us and beats my ass
>complain about this in front of my mom who then thinks hackers will use my Runescape password to somehow access my dad’s bank account and find our house and murder us and beats my ass
kek
>be me
>10 or some shit
>can't buy borderlands dlc, my grandma won't buy it for me
>playing dead island, some guy talking about how he owns it. I had modded guns that some random gave me
>convince this guy that I can mod his game too, but I need his account to do it.
>immediately change his password, and email. Max out his credit card on everything else I wanted, then spent the rest on non-refundable MLG gamer pics just to frick with him until it hit the limit
>realize how easy scamming is, start advertising my modding services to anybody and everybody I can on dead island, howing it off with the guns somebody else gave me
>eventually one guy says something like 'wait you're that scammer aren't you?' and I immediately shit myself, set my console offline, freak out any time I see a cop and never scammed again.
Didn't go on the internet for like 2 years because I was so worried this guy was going to get me somehow. MLG better thank me because I probably spent like $10000 on those shitty gamerpics
Why did you use the same account details for runescape as your dad's bank account?
My friend called me one evening asking for my password because he wanted to see my account and he was my friend so I gave it to him, but five minutes later I couldn't log in because the password changed and he totally had no idea how that happened, seriously.
I don't know what it was about that game that turned people into utter scum. I'm not innocent either. I feel bad looking back at it. Those were real people man...
Probably low information about the game leading to people thinking the most efficient way to make progress was to simply take advantage of others.
Wouldn't it be really funny if you trained an AI to mimic someone's voice because they put tons of clips of their voice on social media then you had that AI impersonate them to their loved ones without their knowledge hahaha
Why not? Worst case I lose some armor I can just get again.
why are they so nice
Those are all bots.
Nice.
>got scamtraded a noted iron 2h instead of rune one and lost nearly 60k back in the day
I still remember it, one of the most traumatizing experience in me younger years
When I was younger, I thought the trimming meant he was actually trimming the armor, like one does with split ends on hair.
he provides people with a valuable service
no, I'm not talking about trimming
It takes literally 2 minutes to earn a set of adamant
Now a days yes. Back in the day you'd spend months beating up cows to do it, because everybody was a dumb ass kid who spent more time talking to people than actually doing content.
>nowaday its flipped and people playing the game actually play the game instead of standing around talking
>this leads people to claim the game is a shadow of itself and that the GE ruined everything
I just checked and three inventories of cowhides would pay for full addy
Not that anon but way back on the original RuneScap that osrs is based off of, it was approximately 10,000,000 go for a set of adamant armor. You can understand how hard it was to get real armor back then, dragon was close to a billion. The rwt prices back then were 5 dollars per million gp.
what the frick, seriously? 10mil?
maybe in runescape classic from the 90s or something but around 2007 no
Zoomers wouldn’t know that.
What the hell did you think anon meant by "original runescape" you numbnut
>RuneScap that osrs is based off
that would be runescape, which is based off rsc retart
Are you assuming that the current GE value of a cow hide even remotely close to what they went for in 2005?
Yes he is. Cow hides were around 1500 gp per hide. So that is a lot more than three inventories of cow hide for addy armor!
in RS2 (06/07) 1.5k would be green dhide my boy.
A boxed addy set is 18,954 and a soft leather is 209 coins
>They were too busy trying to break into the vault in varrok bank or talking to their friends about what happened at soccer practice yesterday.
SOUL
I was a moron who thought the fastest way to get the armor was to make it myself.
So I became a master miner.
i also played like this kek
I distinctly remember in my earliest days I would constantly die and lose most of my shit, and whenever I did I would mine an inventory of tin/copper/iron and make new shit on the spot
>spend months getting first set of addy
>get a rune sword as well, fricking crazy how much lobby fishing and certing I had to do
>finally gunna try DS
>no fricking strong enough, couldn't out heal per 3 hits, die
>FUUUUUUUUUUUCK
>round 2 mother fricker
>I got better/faster at fishing, so the rebuild wasn't too insane like a month
>got fricking rune legs/helm + addy pl8 this time
>forgot the fricking shield
>die in 2 hits
>round 3
>same shit
>had the shield this time
>bothered with swordfish as well
>eye did it!
Remember 2006scape? The private server a frick ton of people on Ganker played on the eve of OSRS being polled and launched?
I 'member Gankerscape.
Close, but it wasn't Gankerscape. Similar time, though.
I used to wildly lure back when professional luring didn’t exist yet. I regret pking them and feel shame.
Yea i saw another guy trade him and he got trimmed and he’s doing a drop party l8r
Should I pay for OSRS membership again? I let it run out so I could glitch the game and get my special snowflake blue circle under my character. I unsubscribed a month or two before Forestry I think.
>special snowflake blue circle under my character
wut
Seems like one of those graphical glitches they fix after like a week. Have you checked recently to see if you still have it?
Yep, logged on right now with it working.
Didn't they recently get bought out again?
>give guy my account
>later feel like playing again
>recover account using support
>account now has a few more levels and some free items
>guy pms me "dude you fricking scammed me'
it might even have been a guy on Ganker I gave the account to
you son of basterd gib acct back i will tell your hore mother
My younger brother got a 3 day ban back in the day because he was selling fake accounts.
He would write down some real player names and tell noobs they could have a level 50 for 50k or something. Then when they logged to "log in to" the new account he would world hop and do it again.
>Have 88 smithing
>These guys have no idea
>Unequip adamantite armor
>Trade it to them
>Immediately equip another set
He pk'ed millions.
BANK YOUR ITEMS!
I remember the first time ever I got scammed in runescape he told me he was gonna give me some thousands of gold I just had to follow him across some wall and enable pk good times
>His armour is untrimmed
This guy reeks of bullshit
He says I can trust him, I have no reason to not trust him, in the contrary I have reason to trust him, he says I can
Is osrs worth getting into today or not worth it with everyone having 10,000 hours?
It's worth it. The early-to-mid game is the best part.
25% of the things in the game?
soulless
the proper way to play OSRS is completing all the F2P quests first before doing any members content
That's just the tip of the iceberg.
No it's not worth it
I was waiting for you to start spamming your posts.
Post hiscores.
Try the f2p content and see if it vibes with you. Make sure you do some quests and don't just run around killing goblins and cows.
you're like 15 years too late to be playing runescape
You're going to get that one autist posting every image of the jmods being lgbtqbtwbbq++ homosexuals but yes, the game is fine
>the game is fine
Go online and post a screenshot of the enormous amout of gays
Post proof of you killing corrupt gauntlet and I might care about your opinion. Use ground makers and make the last 4 digets of my post
After bots, anyways.
>mfw never fell for the scams
>mfw wore void armor with dbow
>mfw I was that annoying shit who popped you after you won a duel and stole everything
>mfw got full dharok and a whip one day
The amount of seething hatred I got via PMs was legendary.
>Spent like 10 years playing
>Tried every money making method, resource runs, raids, GE trading, the works
>Never made much money
>Decide to just fricking gamble in the duel arena one day
>Make 300M boxing
Everything felt like a waste after that.
I had a runescape gf once when I was 10 and she was 13. We called each other and she was from New York and then my dad beat the shit out of me because he thought I gave our number to a pedophile but she sounded really cute bros...
>why haven't you trimmed your own armor?
>lets see you trim your rune first
how i feel when i pull up to the ge with d med helm, granite body, rune platelegs and d longsword
>no d skirt
You fricked up
What made old Runescape so soulful?
Bad art and clueless devs, but made with the intention of just having a virtual world to explore online
Half the team wasn't furries yet.
Back then it was pkscape full of nationalists
Both jmods and pmods are there promoting normale male activities.
Pvpscape having international wars and whatnot recreating history in runescape feefees of antiracists be damned. Jagex mods and player mods, spot them if you can. Very different to the "mods" the nurunescape of both nu-osrs/nu-rs3 have.
Events hosted by the devs and the devs playing the game with the players
Here's one bundled with kino music
Uncomparable to the runescape staff you have now. Most if not all based mods both player or actual jagex staff either left or were booted out. Here's your pmod playing irontroonmode pridescape, a mode exclusively added for non-runescape players to feel special.
every thread
took you a while this time, you're slipping
and you know, choke on a shotgun and all that
back to >>>/vg/ pettanko
weren't you also outed there for being an actual grooming pedo
is there anything safe from globohomosexual agenda these days
That is a pmod not a dev or employee. They do it for free
The youtube video literally was from a gold crown.
Meanwhile this image is your jmod now.
>Pmods means nothing and do it for free
From the chain of replies, this
is jagex mod wolf. Completely different from all the jmods in the 2005 event, one of the earlier linked videos named.
America - vs - Europe [First Runescape World War Ever]
I wonder why they stopped polling events, bit of a mystery really.
>do a fun little event
>decades later some fat loser on the internet tries to spin it that you're some "based" ben shapiro republican
Your fantasy doesn't even make sense because its random region pairing like portuguese and nordics.
>region pairing like portuguese and nordics
>doesn't even make sense
Newhomosexual it's part of clan lore kino.
You wouldn't know since you're a post-EoC irontroon
efficiencyscaping while erping on discord
It was built like a point and click adventure game with combat added in. Had a very sometimes goofy "British children's story book" feel to it. I especially like how the player character was always presented as just some random guy stumbling his way into crazy shit and using it to his advantage.
The player character is also such a fricking character. You get so many opportunities to make smarmy remarks at people and when something is utter bullshit he calls NPCs out on it. It's great.
>watching someone play through all the old quests
>at one point there's an option to have the player rant about how so many quests involve getting someone drunk
Kino
>when something is utter bullshit he calls NPCs out on it
I fricking loved the part in Song of the Elves when the PC tells the elf king to stop being such a pathetic sadsack.
This was always my favourite part of the game. Pure whimsy and fun, goofiness and light sass.
So glad I played in the ~2004 pre317 era.
I respect your struggle fellow oldhead. Zoomies will never know what it was like to experience culture that wasn't graffiti'd by the stooges of the regime. They'll never consume culture free from extraneous ideological product placement.
Risk vs reward.
Death had meaning and carried weight
It is a microcosm of real life
You can get scammed, get robbed, get killed for your wealth
Very much a ying yang situation
I really wish there was an OSRS that just stayed at 2007. I get that it needs new content for people to nolife but I just don't see the point. Looking at vids of OSRS today is not nostalgic at all.
That's what OSRS was. It lasted for a while until people got really bored of it, then they added some slight shit like Goblin Invasion while they tripped over themselves trying to figure out how to work with the janky ass code for a real update.
you do until you complete most of the quests, get to mid-game and realize how barren 2007 was
The real endgame in 2007 was pking
which a % of a % actually did
this, and it was way more accessible.
I really wish the world just stayed at 2007.
The world peaked in 2011. We had windows 7, halo 1-3 and reach, world of warcraft and runescape before they sold out, CoD was actually fun, skyrim and minecraft fever was insane, before the woke idiots and politics were everywhere... FRICK TAKE ME BACK
Why would I care about addy gear?
I like to log on and dab on noobs with my 2003 Halloween scythe
Money doubling for free! You can trust me with your gp!
wow thanks!! he really did it. you can trust this guy
Greatest Ally
>saw someone saying this as a kid
>knew it was a scam
>kept following him around GE spamming SCAM SCAM DONT TRADE WITH HIM
>he eventually hops worlds
>a great feeling of success washes over me
yea
didnt play runescape but played uo and eve, same learning experience
Never played runescape but I remember guessing the password (1111) for room AAA in Diablo 2 and stealing a bunch of stuff dropped on the ground from two dudes muling.
>who are you?
>a thief lol. Bye!
Me and an IRL friend used to make games named "priv" with the password "priv" until one day a couple of dudes joined the server because they were doing the exact same thing for their private games. We shifted to phrase name/password combinations after that like
>game name: HowGoesDah
>password: laddah
Only gays would play this gay ass game over EQ99 anyways
Play Vscape. It's OSRS, but without the Gay Sexchange and the other homosexual shit. Just like 2007 bros.
Can I host my own server instead?
You'll find that, just like them, you'll have to hand-code all the quests in.
WARNING do not install or play Vidyascape
it has a major furry pedophile and troon infestation and all of the mods are corrupt
you have been warned.
I'm already not playing it because I don't enjoy a runescape server with only 30 people on it.
Lately it's been more like 50 average.
But enjoy osrs where you're taxed 10mil in 2 weeks or forced to wageslave just to play content that hasn't even been accurate since 2014, where 80% of the "community" is just bots with randomly generated usernames. Lmao
>mods are corrupt
so what'd you do, your favorite exploit got nerfed, or you got caught macroing and couldn't explain it to them. Willing to bet the latter
But are they on the level of jagex mods
or are they beaten easily by jmods
oh that redhead
Vscape mods constantly cry about osrs and jagex being gay meanwhile their server and friends list are filled with trannies and pedophiles.
All in all very hypocritical and moronic plus they let all of their friends openly break the rules in game multilog/bot and cheat
The easiest way to tell vscape is shit is the fact they're so desperate to shill it.
Same can be said about nuscape though
I shit you not, as a kid I made the moronic decision to give my Dragon armor set to someone, not sure why I did that? Maybe it was Rune armor instead, either way he just sat down and teleported away in front of me. I never saw him again, and I remember crying.
Back in 2006 or 2007 irl friends and me thought Zamarok set was rune set trimmed with dragon metal
Early in life, flipping Rune scimmys and abyssal whips outside the Varrock banks taught me:
1) How not to get scammed
2) How an economy works
3) How to type quickly
4) Basics of stock trading (buy low, sell high)
zoomers can never understand
i've been playing the game for years
i imagine a 2007 server has absolutely nothing to offer me
did they remove the incredibly gay Gankerified quest conversations?
ye
Honestly some of my best memories of this game came from going through the wild west of shitty moparscape tier servers that would usually crash and burn within a few months.
I remember the absolute fiasco of when 2006scape got shut down after only doing a public castle wars server test for a day, so everyone hopped over to Davidscape and proceeded to burn it to the ground.
K
mmmmm
Will you trust him?
>Did you know that Jagex won't let you type your password? ***** See! Try it!
Worst I ever got scammed was $700 I put into RenQ which was a rugpull.
im going to spam the frick out of Gankerscape with new characters and a proxy if you don't knock this shit off, you're such an annoying homosexual, please have a nice day
Runescape was a creation of Tavistock and various think-tanks to create a simulacrum that would capture and ultimately waste the best years of mens lives
men who could potentially upset the status quo
It was containment
What is it with kids these days and getting scammed?
When I was a kid, I was taught all about scamming and phishing. Does no one know the basics of online security nowadays?
We grew up in an era of stranger danger. These idiots all grew up in an era of myshit and homosexualbook which encouraged directly using personally identifiable information as part of the service, making it semi-public (which the company wouldn't use/sell right?). Unless you knew the other idiot you were talking to IRL, you didn't leak sensitive information.
The irony is that stranger danger is a bigger problem now than it was then.
Online grooming is genuinely an epidemic. Especially from trans groups and political extremists interestingly enough.
I was "taught" about scamming as a teen by being harassed by a scam lawyer who later went to jail.
It taught me a bit about how to handle legal issues, so it was a good lesson.
>leGankerwizard
Jesus christ stop harrassing the fricking developers you creeps, leave them alone.
I mean, he said that I can trust him
My friend in primary school once lured me into the lumbridge swamp cave with an uncovered candle
I learnt an important lesson that day
yes
RUN AWAY
Stop neglecting your slayer level
Play Vscape.
>you can duplicate runes
>just put them on the ground and type alt+f4
the modern scam is baiting players to download a specific raid plugin that steals login info under the pretense of it being needed to learn the raid
Modern scam is having you believe that it will be a medieval simulator
One small favour is a good quest and one of the funniest ones
Its fine now a days because you can teleport everywhere and use a guide, but back in the day it was horrible.
Underground pass/regicide was similar. They are piss easy today, but as a kid I was stuck in the underground pass for 3 days.
You may be thinking, who cares? Just fake points in a make believe world, but... it costs 60 bucks a year to play, hours of time to gain power, and there are dozens of sites offering coins to use in runescape... for a fee, timmy received and spent 140 real dollars for virtual swords and armor, making him more powerful in the game, all of it's gone now.
Indians really saw this guy and made him their entire personality
>tfw never got the fire cape
just end my life famalam
Things like blow pipe make it trivial. Inferno cape is the real challenge.
I have no idea what either of those are, I only ever played Runescape 2.
Runescape players now: (pic rel)
>Skype
have a nice day zoomie
What are some skills (besides combat) I could easily afk through out the day?
AFKing red woods seems alright, everything else seems like you need to click at least every minute or so.
Mining has shooting stars, it takes a little effort to get going but when you do it's 7 minutes per click
Fishing Karambwans is always good
They added bonfires a while back. It's bad xp vs normal firemaking but extremely afk
Making cannon balls for Smithing
Herbibore for Hunter and Herblore
Making glass items for crafting
Plank make/enchantment for Magic
Blood/Soul runecrafting.
Me? I played Tibia not Runescape.
Who was in the wrong here?
POTAL POTAL
guards
guards
guards
guards
guards
GUARDS
Raids don't interest me.
Too many autistic rules you need to memorize for every single encounter.
Thats most of the new bosses, they take you down for fricking up like once
Love getting deleted in one tick by Vardorvis because I failed to perform two clicks on opposite sides of my screen within the same 300ms
Not a bad way to grow up tbh
Are there any good offline server emulators for runescape yet? I want something around the 2005 or 2006 era, anything that still has the original hud.
my 8 y old me would
as an 31 y old no.
Remember that time when Jagex removed free trade and wildy thinking it was a good idea?
They removed the wildy in RS3 again, it's opt in now
So you can just walk around there without getting attacked unless you enable it?
Yes. There's a new mechanic where the longer you stay there's more of a chance of Monsters tag teaming you out of nowhere but yes players can't jump you anymore.
they should've IP banned asian continent instead
I wonder how badly that affected the player count and income from membership
Pkers were the majority back then
Players only pvm when they lose in the wildy to regear.
The based mods joined the falador riots and risked their accounts (or jobs for actual jmods, no jmod's left that isn't part of globohomo), both during wilderness removal and when they mandated pride parades.
Unlike now you have gay redditor pvmscaper
who think it's some kind of great achievement to play against npcs than uniting multiple clans in massive alliances to go multiway combat where a few dscim hits would kill you even without snares.
They were forced to because of RMTing kid's parents pissing off credit card companies
I guess for american its runescape
meanwhile for thirdworlders its RO
but what do EU played in the 00's?
He's wearing full rune so yeah sure
Remind me Anons, trying to get money for a bond as a f2p is like, the worst waste of time in existence yeah? I remember trying for fun and the f2p actually being fairly cool, just not really ever getting enough moolah for one of those I think. Been some years though.
Yes. The best f2p money makers are like 300k gp/hr at the most so you'll be doing that shit for 30 straight hours if you want to get a bond.
Pretty much. Bite the bullet and spend real cash for your first bond or two, and use that time to build up the account until you can make enough gp to self-sustain.
There's something wonderfully pathetic about seeing the same posts in every thread.
Play Vscape. You can call each other homosexuals while mods don't give a shit.
Not trans sorry.
>before the grand exchange was in the game and before buying as bank notes from store
>find out about member forums
>people buy bulk regular logs for 100g/ea
>lumbridge general store full of botted logs for 1g/ea
>recruit noobs to bring logs for me for 30g/ea
>make several mil in a week
I'll forever die on the hill that adding the GE had a net negative impact on the game.
I miss my childhood
But I also don’t
