This series is some of the most interesting and unique games I have ever played, without mods, and the mods are great too. I actually really like gamma, not sure why someone would be upset over it.

STALKER is fallout for adults, when you just make it an exosuit meme game then it's just regular fallout. The ending of SoC is not a massive battle, it's a slow and deliberate series of hallways in pitch black darkness where you fight individual squads of monolith and coincidentally its by far the best ending. >it's 2 minute long eating animations.

Plus I played too much anomaly/coc. Wild clan war shit inside stalker is so engaging. If a mod focused on 2spoopy scenarios like bunkers and the sewer areas I'd consider playing Stalker again.
The story is best told leagues better in both Roadside Picnic and the Stalker film, so I prefer those to the game.

It's a common mistake, people jump in and just expect straightforwad fps when the whole picture is slightly bigger. Also people became spoiled by newer shooters when you don't really need to do anything except just point the sights at enemy, no matter if it is 10m, 100m or 1km
The problem is that when enemies use the same perfect headshot weaponry as well, they will delete you just as easy as you delete them, with SoC Pripyat being the most egregious example. CS and CoP tried to solve this by adding weapon spread and other mechanics, but in turn made every weapon except Vintorez hit like a wet noodle. Mods figured it out much better, but i'm not a fan of "one shot — one kill" approach either, as it turns the game from a peashooter slog to F5-F9 slog.
