On paper, 25 years doesn't seem like it would be as much time to age as it is. Like, that's only a third of your lifespan if you do the bare minimum to take care of yourself, and maybe more like a fourth if you have good genetics and do take great care of yourself. I still remember 1999 like it was maybe 10 years ago. But that said, looking at celebrities and popular people from around that time when they were in their 20s and 30s to now when they're in their 40s and 50s, it's scary how old a lot of them look. I'm in my mid 30s now, and it terrifies me just how drastically a couple decades can change the world around you and how much it can wear you out.
>does nothing by creating one of the most user friendly online game store in the past two decades >wins because his service is simply better than his competitors
A lot of fricking nothing, for sure.
I honestly don't even know why people b***h about Steam. It's always either utterly vague bullshit, minor inconsequential shit or, as in this case, a simple lol, as if that's any sort of an argument.
Steam and Valve are far from perfect, but know that the iteration of the digital platform monopoly could have been much, much worse. We could have had Epic instead of Steam. Shut the frick up, and be grateful.

One of my issues with Steam is you can no longer opt out of updating a game. You also cannot roll back an update.
This single aspect is completely inexcusable and you cannot defend it.

Certain games have legacy versions, like Underrail.
Dev issue.

Steam used to have a launch without updating button. Now it doesn't.

If the community and the devs want different versions of the game, that's on them.
Not on Steam.

steam wins for a lot of reasons that we take for granted. I wanted to switch my country on battlenet and here's how it went >want to change country, think it's like steam where it's a simple drop down menu where i select my country >can't do that have to send the support a utility bill that has my adresse and name (sent one in my father's name since my bills are in my landlord's name) >send them the bill >takes 5 days to reply and have the gull to say this "I just wanted to say thanks a lot for being patient :)" >say that the bill isn't in my name and i have to send another one or my ID to prove i'm my father's son >send a heavily blurred ID that has my father's name >takes a week to reply and finally change the country >end the email with "So, thank you for your patience. (◠‿◠)"
i changed my country in steam and it literally took 3 seconds and the few times i talked to the support they replied in a 5 hours max, usually lower. It took almost 2 weeks for bnet to reply
Right now he doesn't but back then Gabe and Valve took a massive risk when creating Steam. They didn't want to because the chances for even a moderate success were low as frick but were sort of forced into it and got lucky. Steam blew up and became the money printing app it is today.
I never got the meme that valve doesn't do anything, in the same amount of time Timmy took to add a shopping cart they added remote play together, developed proton, added curators, made a vr headset and a handheld console. If you're just going by games developed in house, then fine they've made one but that's still one more game than epic have made in the last 4 years.
All the Steam hate is misplaced. You can buy just about any game for $1-10 if you wait long enough. You can put it on your PC and play it offline and there are community resources for every game on the application. Steam isn't nickel and diming you like the entire industry. They aren't being oppressive at all. Gabe understands that in order to win, he just has to be fair and that's what he's doing.
Gabe Newell is a scammer and belongs in federal prison for fraud.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
That is absolutely not true.
Gaben was the only one who did something while the rest did frick all. It took EA 7 fricking years before introducing Origin, Ubisoft 5 years, Timmy over a decade and Microsoft with its games for windows live took only 3 years, but went full moron. They did frick all. Even now, valve is the only one that allows devs to publish their games on steam while the rest remains closed off ecosystems. Even Timmy stopped caring about his shop and instead goes after other corporations. Just like a dog.
why has he aged 50 years since 1999 instead of 25
fat
>AAAAAAAA

>rode my bike today for the first time in years
>got tired pretty quickly
it's over
Hey, even the Mona Lisa is falling apart.
frick me I need to rewatch this masterpiece for the umpteenth time
it gets easier every day.... but you gotta do it every day, that 's the hard part
You'll stop getting so tired in less than a week of doing it every day. It seriously barely takes any time.
>don't do something for a long time
>not immediately good at it when you start doing it again
>WTF?
Anon are you moronic?
Maybe you have gone senile.

Yeah, I said that just to give you some ground out of courtesy, I legitimately don't think there's anything wrong with Steam, so I'm all ears bud.

You can still force steam to rollback updates
Well if you think you can do better why haven't you?
okay EGshill
The worst thing they did was becoming dependent on chrome bullshit. Other than that it's good. Compare refunding things anywhere else.
