They CAN, but it really depends on the god. Like it'd be weird if Asmodeus betrayed an extremely loyal follower when he could just make or adjusts contracts as needed, but Lloth is the goddess of a race of serial backstabbers, Shar is the goddess of lies and gaslighting, and Vlaakith isn't even a real god at all and just using her devoted to fuel her godhood. So it makes total sense why this happens to their followers, but I guess I do agree that the repeated story beats do get old.
Lolth is a c**t and Shar's whole deal is exactly that.
They needed more variety though, Karlach is a good addition in that regard, despite what seem to be her horribly shitty endings (in line with the series, really).

I'm going with fear and disarm, seems to be working alright. Hold person + Lae'zel already nukes most people even +2 levels above. So it's not a big deal in general.
Tripping Strike is the best one hands down. Extra damage and knocking them prone to make it easier to hit them and deal even more damage with your follow up swings is too good. The knock back one is also decent but you can just use thunder arrows instead. 90% of the time I just spam the trip manuver.
True, but those creatures often seem immune to trip, maybe I'm just unlucky but the Bullet did not give a single frick wehn i tried tripping it repeatedly. I took trip, disarm, riposte and trip is seeing the least use.
The Bullette is too big to trip, yeah. You can trip the flesh golem though and Balthazar (who will still cast spells without his staff)

Anything that fricks with the enemy's action economy is good, like fear or disarm as mentioned above. Tripping feels kind of weak in this game since unlike previous editions it doesn't provoke opportunity attacks. Riposte also gets better once your AC gets higher and enemies miss you more often, there's some magic items that do shit like inflicting damage when enemies miss you as well so you can really stack up reactive damage.
Attacks on prone creatures have advantage, so you can quickly gangbang someone to death. It's no Hold Person but it's still mint if you're running double melee mains
She's a brainwashed childsoldier like all githyanki, once you break her from that she becomes tolerable (though understandable if you don't have the patient for it and just kill or remove her)

A 5th level druid could have someone drink the strongest poison imaginable, stomp the tadpole to death, and then grow the dead person a new body. The big limiter would be the 1000gp of rare ingredients required for the ritual. But upon the death of the person they'd have 10 days to get it done. So it'd work as a last minute measure, and you could always set up a heist to get the materials. Clerical magic is preferable because you don't get kicked back to character creation, but as a spite measure against a ticking clock it works. Druid may take an alignment hit, though.
i doubt this will work because withers the literal god of death revives you and the companions with the tadpole very much still firmly stuck in your noggin

I'm happy for what they are since they are directly tied to the events of act one, it would be different if they were just like the rest of the party and they show up to just tag along.
While it'd be nice if more party of our members joining wasn't so frontloaded and unnatural feeling, I feel you'd run into the problems you do with Minthara. Joining the gang late and not immediately like everyone else means there is guaranteed to be less reactivity from them when it comes to early events and interparty interactions, especially these characters that are easy to miss like Minthara who is probably dying in most games. In some ways I feel like all the companions should have been introduced on the Nautaloid just to make sure they get the same amount of time devoted to their lines since they would be possible recruits from the start.

Design wise, I do like her and her race because they remind me of the Yuuzhan Vong. Personality wise, she kind of sucks so far. No video game character gets away with treating me like I'm the NPC.
I just got to act 3 with a sliver of xp needed until level 10. It wouldn't have killed the devs to add more, especially seeing how little leveling matters in 5e. I find it more fun than Divinity though. Divinity sucks.
It will be an annoyance for you, bee, unlike, say, Cyberpunk or WotR, there are no incremental patches in the gog distro. You'll have to redownload the whole 120+ gb when you'd want to update.

She said before that that their race doesn't get pregnant, but their goddess tells some selected people to lay eggs in a certain place and in a certain number, that's why she said that.
I'm thinking about going Zariel Tiefling Warlock 5 with pactbound weapon, then Paladin Oathbreaker 7. I'll get 3 attacks per action point, Counterspell, Mage Armor and Shield of Faith.
The only downside is I'll only get 2 Feats (Probably Ability Points and Great Weapon, so I can have 4 attacks per round), but I can't figure out how to get Charisma to 22.
Also levels 5-10 will be a chore.

If I use the Gold Rapier from the pirate lady, I'll get 4 attacks per round. Man I wish the max level was 13 so I could get the extra bonus action from Thief. Then Dual wield Jaheira's Scimitar for like 5 attacks per round with one offhand attack or Cunning Dash if needed.
Make sure you craft the Hagbane poison before the fight and use it on her, otherwise you won't get it.

I played DA:O when I was way younger which is a apparently a very similar type of game despite not being turn-based, but I remember it being way the frick harder than this. I'd like to play BG1 and 2 but I always felt like I would suck at it because DA:O was so difficult to me. Is DA:O actually way harder than this or was i just a moronic kid?
I was pretty young playing DA:O too but i remember that the difficulties above normal were brutal. Could be misremembering or it could have been an early patch though.

you get some passives that adds quite a lot of dmg at lvl 3 or 4 iirc
if you're alone and you're not spotted you can keep doing the shoot and hide cycle forever until everything is dead, they'll just stand in place making angry sounds if they can't find a target
in proper fights i like bloodlust elixir and then going after ranged targets that stay out of my party's aoe effects
misty step, teleport arrows and such to position yourself in darkness, on ledges etc are very good

Not to mention I barely seem to get any of the supposed benefits. Don't get my actions refilled when shooting from outside of combat for a "double turn" and no one is ever "surprised" despite eating an arrow out of the blue.
im assassin, with sharpshooter passive
you do get your action refilled upon entering combat, but you won't always have highest initiative. try ungrouping your party and going ahead alone, very often you can get a lot of work done that way
also if you can do a big cc spell from either a scroll or equipped item it will never break because noone can hit you to break your concentration since you're basically always hidden
just the one thing you won't be doing is being a hasted fighter/barb swinging 6 times for 40 dmg per turn. thats not your job

She has the best character arc in the game, followed closely by Shart. In Larian games the c**tiest, most obnoxious character early on ALWAYS gets the best character development, because you see what made them that way and watch them change.

nope, characters are pretty limited in the start of the game but by act 3 you get all sorts of crazy shit so it might just improve over time
One thing I do like about this game is how they just designed the characters straight up instead of scanning them off of real people like so many big budget AAA games are apt to do these days.
Warlocks in D&D aren't just making deals with demons. You can make deals with lawful good outsiders, particularly powerful wizards, that bleeding rock over there, or any other notable figures capable of standing in.

yeah sounds about right, it's Larian
in a year or two they'll put out Baldur's Gate 3: Definitive Edition and it will fix most of the issues. the upside is I'm pretty sure if you bought the launch versions, they give you the definitive ones for free. at least that's how they did it for the Divinity OS games.
In terms of looks, no, but as a companion, she's based as frick. I like her no bullshit and surly attitude. Plus, I've always liked the Gith lore since Planescape. Once you earn her respect, she's good fun and I enjoyed going along with her bully routine with Zorru or whatever his name was then praising her.

No. Green units are allied, but not under your control. You can control 4 base with maybe some summons depending on choices made or spells cast.
There is a mod to increase party size to 16 if you REALLY want to but.. eh?

They CAN, but it really depends on the god. Like it'd be weird if Asmodeus betrayed an extremely loyal follower when he could just make or adjusts contracts as needed, but Lloth is the goddess of a race of serial backstabbers, Shar is the goddess of lies and gaslighting, and Vlaakith isn't even a real god at all and just using her devoted to fuel her godhood. So it makes total sense why this happens to their followers, but I guess I do agree that the repeated story beats do get old.

This happened to me as well. I think Minthara is bugged. Do you also get the 'We need to talk in private' chat option that always just leads to 'actually, nevermind'? She also keeps bringing up old news to me, asking how we're going to defeat the general when he's been dead for days ingame.
It's a little annoying because I thought I'd knock out the evil run first and I'll have to do it again if she IS bugged.

What are some good maneuvers?
I know squat about d&d and when i perused the list they all seemed pretty good, ended up picking the 3 more out of a gut feeling that knowledge of the game.
I'm going with fear and disarm, seems to be working alright. Hold person + Lae'zel already nukes most people even +2 levels above. So it's not a big deal in general.
Tripping Strike is the best one hands down. Extra damage and knocking them prone to make it easier to hit them and deal even more damage with your follow up swings is too good. The knock back one is also decent but you can just use thunder arrows instead. 90% of the time I just spam the trip manuver.
I prefer disarm and then stealing their weapon, completely neuters a lot of enemies.
It's good but there are some creatures that don't have weapons to disarm so the trip is clutch.
I take Trip, Disarm and Knockback. The rest are meh
True, but those creatures often seem immune to trip, maybe I'm just unlucky but the Bullet did not give a single frick wehn i tried tripping it repeatedly. I took trip, disarm, riposte and trip is seeing the least use.
The Bullette is too big to trip, yeah. You can trip the flesh golem though and Balthazar (who will still cast spells without his staff)

Anything that fricks with the enemy's action economy is good, like fear or disarm as mentioned above. Riposte also gets better once your AC gets higher and enemies miss you more often, there's some magic items that do shit like inflicting damage when enemies miss you as well so you can really stack up reactive damage.
Attacks on prone creatures have advantage, so you can quickly gangbang someone to death. It's no Hold Person but it's still mint if you're running double melee mains

I kept reloading after doing these quests because they all give you fricking powers and explicitly make the worm stronger.

So it'd work as a last minute measure, and you could always set up a heist to get the materials. Clerical magic is preferable because you don't get kicked back to character creation, but as a spite measure against a ticking clock it works. Druid may take an alignment hit, though.

I'm happy for what they are since they are directly tied to the events of act one, it would be different if they were just like the rest of the party and they show up to just tag along.
While it'd be nice if more party of our members joining wasn't so frontloaded and unnatural feeling, I feel you'd run into the problems you do with Minthara. Joining the gang late and not immediately like everyone else means there is guaranteed to be less reactivity from them when it comes to early events and interparty interactions, especially these characters that are easy to miss like Minthara who is probably dying in most games. In some ways I feel like all the companions should have been introduced on the Nautaloid just to make sure they get the same amount of time devoted to their lines since they would be possible recruits from the start.

you get some passives that adds quite a lot of dmg at lvl 3 or 4 iirc
if you're alone and you're not spotted you can keep doing the shoot and hide cycle forever until everything is dead, they'll just stand in place making angry sounds if they can't find a target
in proper fights i like bloodlust elixir and then going after ranged targets that stay out of my party's aoe effects
misty step, teleport arrows and such to position yourself in darkness, on ledges etc are very good

im assassin, with sharpshooter passive
you do get your action refilled upon entering combat, but you won't always have highest initiative. try ungrouping your party and going ahead alone, very often you can get a lot of work done that way
also if you can do a big cc spell from either a scroll or equipped item it will never break because noone can hit you to break your concentration since you're basically always hidden
just the one thing you won't be doing is being a hasted fighter/barb swinging 6 times for 40 dmg per turn. thats not your job

nope, characters are pretty limited in the start of the game but by act 3 you get all sorts of crazy shit so it might just improve over time

She grows on ya. Prolly not as LI but as character and due to being a Fighter, meaning she will make mince meat out of any boss encounter like it's nothing thanks to Haste+Action Surge shenanigans and BM just being very very good.
Paladin is probably better for boss murdering, even without action surge. A Haste wouldn't hurt though, and neither will GWM.

I have the feeling something about the companion wants to frick system is completely broken, it triggers nearly instantly. Im right at the start of the game. The story and characters make it clear its a "buttholes thrown together in a dire situation", everyone seem to mistrust or hate each other. But suddenly everyone wants to frick me after a few hours and like 2 times talking with me. WTF. This shit is broken.
it's not broken, most of the "romances" side plots for the characters were written by porn-addicted coomheads. the only one who's not like that is Shadowheart.

in a year or two they'll put out Baldur's Gate 3: Definitive Edition and it will fix most of the issues. the upside is I'm pretty sure if you bought the launch versions, they give you the definitive ones for free. at least that's how they did it for the Divinity OS games.

In terms of looks, no, but as a companion, she's based as frick. I like her no bullshit and surly attitude. Plus, I've always liked the Gith lore since Planescape. Once you earn her respect, she's good fun and I enjoyed going along with her bully routine with Zorru or whatever his name was then praising her.
I didn't a first but when you get her approval she starts coming on to you and her dominating approach to coming on to you is pretty fricking hot. especially when she says how she is turned on by you and that she is ready to take what is hers. When you agree to sate her, you end up eating her out.

No. Green units are allied, but not under your control. You can control 4 base with maybe some summons depending on choices made or spells cast.
There is a mod to increase party size to 16 if you REALLY want to but.. eh?
