Does anyone else feel like Mr X ruins the comfy horror atmosphere of RE2?
The police department has a nice atmosphere, but while you're trying to relax and enjoy it, this fricker appears and will NOT leave you alone for a fricking second.

If you don't shit your pants when you hear thudding footsteps and then suddenly he halts and then you hear those footsteps getting closer, you're not playing the game correctly.
Maybe modern indie analog horror might be more your speed
most of his pattern seems to trend to the west wing/library except for the scripted events. i think initially its overwhelming but is definitely needed especially in multiple playthroughs to add to the difficulty/tension.
>comfy horror atmosphere
KYS double Black person. I wish the word "comfy" was filtered on Ganker because subhumans here have no idea what it means.
Yes. Mr X in original RE2
>appears only in the B-scenario, because by your second playthrough you're actually familiar with the police station map and know how to play the game. He is a secret, added challenge
>appears in scripted scenarios, in narrow hallways, so that running away is almost impossible unless you're a speedrun troony who knows the exact pixel to move to, and shooting him with big guns like the shotgun and/or magnum is encouraged
Mr x in RE2 Demake
>spawns in out of nowhere when you're barely acquainted with the layout of the map
>the game spawns like three of them around the map and literally teleports them around to make sure they constantly frick with you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVO_95DfSrw
>shooting them does literally nothing but waste fricking ammo
Welp i knew remake had cheap difficulty design with the cutted stomp animation against crawling zombies but this is lame thank god i didnt encounter that shit
It's a bug and they fixed it. But you can see how the game works at 1:16 in the video i posted; There are several invisible, intangible Mr X's roaming and teleporting around the map, and only the one closest to the player is active at a given time. You can see them disappear and reappear as they get closer to the player character, until they're both on top of Claire and the game's spaghetti code shits itself and spawns them both in at the same time.
i knew they teleported but not that they were using multiples... i think cinematically its the coolest enemy in the game and RE2 is really only difficult on the hardest setting anyway so he doesnt break the game imo
>Implying you need to be a speed running troony to juke Mr. X in the original release
It is incredibly easy to get around everything with the worst case being a glancing blow
No it spice up
threadly reminder that unkillable stalker enemies are the worst, cheapest, sloppiest, dogshittiest, fakest form of horror/difficulty ever
In alien isolation? Yes you have enough weaponry to kill a xenomorph
in everything
dead space, alien isolation, re2r, re7, re8
exception for walking sim shit though
>they cant enter the safe rooms in nu-RE
its so fricking dumb lol
And that's a good thing.
Dead space was fine you can cripple it andnmake more sense that big resistant homie
All of those games are great. Do you homosexuals even enjoy this hobby? What games?
Funni streamer moment
Don't get it twisted
It's not a fricking game
>comfy
>horror
full moron
It should be very difficult to do, but you should be able to kill him early game somehow. He doesn't need to be invincible to come back later as a boss. Would have been cool if you kill him you get a large break but when he comes back later he is mutated and harder or something. Also been better if he wandered the police station untethered but they would have probably needed to make the map larger for that to work without being frustrating. They could have done a lot to make him more enjoyable and scary.
No he's great. One of the best pursuer enemies ever made next to the Alien. He shakes things up a lot the first time he appears, and on repeat playthroughs you begin thinking about doing things differently in advance to account for him showing up later. For example when you have to move bookcases around in the library, even crawling zombies are a threat because their yells will alert X. Clearing the library entirely takes some resources, but then you're much safer when spending like a minute pushing the cases around.
That library stuff almost gave me a heart attack on my first run
I think I used 3 flashbangs to have time to move that fricking shelf
I didn't mind him in the first run with leon but the second he really is a pest & the whole game devolved to kiting him around since he kept teleporting to my location which became boring.
Nah, I loved it. The first portion of the game's meant to be the time to take in the comfy atmosphere, and then the Police Station revisit is meant to pressure you.
>will NOT leave you alone for a fricking second.
Have you tried not running and shooting everywhere
>comfy horror atmosphere
this has got to be bait
Comfy and horror aren't mutually exclusive
>comfy horror
(You)
That's what I like about him in the Remake, but it's bullshit that he's both chasing after Leon and Claire considering in the original he only appears in the B scenario, and we already know that the Canon scenario in the Original RE2 is Claire A Leon B
>comfy
>horror
have a nice day have a nice day have a nice day have a nice day
I felt he was ruining the game too, hes incessant. Then i realised you just have to mak eless noise, and he has a much harder time tracking you. Dont slam doors, move slowly on louder surfaces, dont fire your gun unless you have to. There are still set points he will teleport to you though.
You know that Uncharted webm of him being pushed down a corridor? That's what it feels like to have Mr X chasing you
Horror is supposed to put you on edge, make you nervous, scared.... by the point tyrant shows up you're already used to most of the tricks the police station has to throw at you. Without him, the game would be 2 hours shorter and the already police station segment would be a kid's walk in the park
And it's not even difficult to dodge the guy, come on
>He got it given to him
I played re2 remake after playing 7. I was having fun just until this massive homosexual appeared. The problem is that even after wasting half your ammo to kill it, he is back at you 5 fricking minutes later, cmon man, leave me alone. If you didn't killed and just run, those 5 minutes were 3 instead. Alt+f4. Uninstall.
He's not scary he's just giving me stress
