    del closes everything

it's great for what it is, but i miss the kind of scenarios railroad tycoon had. bridges are super cheap, rivers are a non-issue, there's no sprawling-pocketing dilemma.

I don't think it's a bad game, but it's heavily held back by their insistence on being save game compatible with the original Transport Tycoon.

Never come across a problem outside of using old buggy NewGRFs
    >game sets saving to network as default if you don’t uncheck that game crashes you lose your save
If you don't want network save then why even bother with the steam version?

My main gripe with OpenTTD is the lack of competitors. It's just you and the big landscape. No challenge but your own company finances

      then spawn in competitors, moron

How? Looked through the options and found none for that. The original TT had it

Locomotion/OpenLoco is a much better game. The only thing holding it back is that it still still lacks some of QoL features of OpenTTD.

Pathfinding is absolute shite. And building the segments one by one like in RCT2 is ridiculous. No cargodist. In short, you are delusional.

OpenLoco will eventually fix all these problems.

I can't engage with OpenTTD, or Tranport Fever 2, or pretty much any Western game because I started with A-Train where train departure and arrival times matter, and I simply can't accept the idea of a passenger train leaving the station one day, and arriving at the next station two days later, because the time in the game is something abstract with no connection to the speed of the trains.

Also people will just get on a first train and go wherever you drop them off. Though I think cargodist for passangers is on by default now. Also I get timeliness for express trains, but a power plant probably shouldn't care how long the coal was on the wagon and pay you more for the same throuput if the trains are going faster. Openttd economy is in general pretty poor and imo something holding back the game.

What's the best version of A-Train for PC in English?

PC Classic and All Aboard Tourism. Ignore the rest.

You can also adjust the timescale of the game to make it so trains can actually make it between towns within the day.

I just want a game where travel times are realistic AND you can speed up the simulation such that you can do meaningful things. Is that so hard?

do you like steam trains? you might like Railroad Tycoon 3. Very comfy
