Does anything even come close to mgs3?
Other games wish they could be half as good.

Sorry I didn't hear you over the sound of Zero reminiscing over shitty movies that weren't even released in 1962, ah goddamn it need to spend 10 minutes removing bullets from my shoulder and venom from my ass while fighting Ocelot and his squad of pussies
>Sorry I didn't hear you over the sound of Zero reminiscing over shitty movies that weren't even released in 1962
Metal Gear universe is more technologically advanced than our own. They got a bunch of films earlier than we did
It's funny how the answer to all MGS anachronisms is literally "It actually came out earlier but the Patriots covered it up"
>MGS1/2
>plot unravels slowly over time
>codec calls are important and builds intrigue
>Snake/Raiden slowly finds out who he can really trust as the support characters get more suspicious
>player grows increasingly familiar with Shadow Moses/Big Shell, better use of the facility space
>MGS3
>nothing happens for 90% of the game
>actual plot is dumped on you in the literal last cutscene
>supporting cast just talks about movies and animals
>Tselinoyarsk to Groznyj Grad is literally a straight line
MGS3 is the beach episode of Metal Gear
Holy shit this!
MGS1 is my favorite, the codex make that fricking game and snake as a character us just awesome. I hope we get a metal gear (nes game) remake with a young solid snake
Huh
I love MGS3, but you are spot on. I've never played 2 before, maybe I will
it has high highs but really low lows, all the complaints you see about it most of the time are very valid ones. just keep an open mind and try to get yourself interested in the story since that's the major carrying element.
it might sound like I'm shitting on MGS3 but it's really the most solid title in the franchise next to MGS1. there's not much to complain about aside from one or two things, but the game structure is clearly a departure from its 2 predecessors and is an obvious influence on 4 later on. it's much more character focused The Boss instead of having the setting and themes take center stage.
if you have the time I would highly recommend playing the entire franchise (or at least from 1 to 4) back to back.
>codec calls are important and builds intrigue
Better be trolling, maybe later in the game but getting a call every time you entered a room in he early game was such bullshit
well no shit the earlier ones are tutorials, that's why they're optional sometimes. but even early in the game it's there to establish and introduce characters and why they're in the game, and to MGS3's credit it does that too except they just lose relevance immediately after that. Zero only ever says "Snake get in there" every time he calls you compared to Campbell being a shifty little b***h.
>MGS2
>plot unravels itself slowly over time
false
Arsenal Gear is 4 hours of pure exposition dump
MGS2 is better. 3 is for Redditors that only like le wacky James Bond story.
MGS2 felt like a rip off, I was waiting for the game to open up and not be the same oiler tanker hallways the entire game. MGS3 felt like a downgrade in some ways but at least it was more open and felt like you were going somewhere
MGS2 felt like a ripoff because Kojima didn't want to make it
He didnt want to make any mgs after 1. Coincidentally mgs1 is the best one, a masterpiece
They went too hard with the gimmicks with 1. I wanted to play the game blind but spent like 2 hours trying to figure out the code on the back of the CD thing not knowing it was some meta shit. Same thing happened with that psychic boss. These gimmicks dont work when you play on emulator
>Kojimbo auto-filters zoomzoomz with 90s meta shit
Holy frickin based.
the frequency on the back of the CD was a form of drm
failing the mantis fight is plain embarrassing and you should feel bad for being moronic
He literally staright up tells u to look at the back of the case. It works avsolutely fine, just look at the back of the case, just search for the case if u dont have
And u dont even need the controller trick to beat psycho mantis. U just suck at the game sorry u didnt even experiment u just broke down when the game didnt have an arrow pointing u where to go at every moment. The game gives u the ability to make code calls for a reason
I thought the case was something in game, its also confusing because he gives you like a disk case and I kept trying to check that
It was kind of bullshit. But u can also get the frquency by just using the codec 5 times
Cope harder lil zoomie.
It's one of the best games ever. So was 2 though.
1 is my favorite. The aesthetic was too good.
MGS3 was when Kojimbo decided he was a Hollywood movie star. MGS2 is the best one
>MGS3 is the movie game
>When MGS2 literally can't go 10 minutes without giving you a long as frick codec call or a cutscene
>MGS1 and 4 has like 2 hours of actual stealth action gameplay
>MGS2 and MGSV both suffer from blatant cut content and covers it up with bad filler
>Peace Walker has shit boss fights and is held back by the PSP
Meanwhile MGS3's biggest flaw is like...having a bit too much menu management? Face it, it's the best one.
I kind of wish the camo system meant more. You get a whole wardrobe of camo options and like, you really only need the 2 objective best ones. And the game clearly identifies them as the best without you having to figure it out.
Like all of the second act in MGS3 is filler. The Cobras are meme villains with no real character or role to play in the story.
Most of Foxhound/Dead Cell arent exactly deep compelling characters either. Its just fun supervillains with memorable boss fights, and the Cobra unit is one of the best, apart from the Fear he's kind of whatever
Pain and Fury were also pretty meh. The End was cool though.
Still, my homie Fatman >>> any of the Cobras for personality.
The Fury has one of the best bossfights in the franchise
lol he’s literally just a copy of Vulcan Raven’s fight. All you do is run in circles and snipe him when his back is turned.
>vulcan raven
just spam nikita
FOXHOUND and Dead Cell are way more involved than the Cobras.
Psycho Mantis plays an active role in hypnotizing the whole Genome Soldiers, Decoy Octopus was supposed to extract information from Snake, and Sniper Wolf likes dogs and gave some lore to Big Boss, and finally Vulcan Raven.
Fortune and Vamp had personal reasons to join Solidus due to the Tanker Incident, and the unit was set up to take the fall for the terrorist take over in the end. Fatman also went crazy and gave opportunity for the AI to test their crisis management capability along with Snake and Otacon being uncounted for variables in the simulation.
In contrast, The Pain and The Fear did this. That's literally all the Cobra Unit's involvement in the story.
They're cool but from what I can tell they're throwbacks to the boss squads in MG1 and MG2. Who can forget Running Man, the man who runs, and Shotgunner, the guy with a shotgun.
I don't think MGS2 is hurt by filler. I wish it had another few struts' worth of content though.
mgsv is the best in the series.
4 would be better than 3 if the entire game was the same gameplay as Act 1 and Act 2.
5 would be better than 3 if the whole game had the map quality of Camp Omega
Even the first two acts of MGS4 are merely decent. They have their moments and are a fun novelty but the war gimmick usually overrides everything.
>stealth game good
lol
MGS has never been a stealth game.
>le stealth series is le not le stealth series
Splinter Cell is a stealth series. the "stealth" in MGS is entirely optional and can be beaten without it
Sure it can, anon.
Name a single part where stealth isnt optional
MGS1 warhead storage building
MGS2 tanker hold
MGS2 shell 1
MGS4 act 3
Peace Walker stealth ops
MGSV hospital
MGSV stealth ops
just because you play on easy difficulty does not make it not a stealth game
I played them on European extreme and hardly used stealth
euro extreme gives you a game over when alerted
not if youre fast
fast how
Don't respond to him, you're taking obvious bait.
I know I just wanted to see how he'd respond
Its a 4/10 game easily the worst game in mgs series by far. Only good thing about it is the music
Id say 1 is the best game, 2 had the most impressive graphics for its time, 3 had the most memoriable moments
>old sniper
>river of the dead
>final boss fight in the flower field
>part where you dress as raiden and get your balls grabbed
>giant ladder with the snake eater theme
>revolver ocelot
I’d agree with this. I think Kojima got way too much freedom from 2 onwards, he needs reigning in.
Worst and most overrated game in the series next to MGS1, MGRR, and GZ.
MGS2 > MGS3 > MGS1 > MGS4 > PW >>>>>>>>> MGSV
Peacewalker is easily the best of the series. Its surprising not too many people talk about it, I guess these zoomers didn't own a PSP
I have a platinum trophy on Peacewalker HD. It's fun but like half my playtime was doing monster hunter style battles against tanks and helicopters.
>walk 3 metres
>mission over
>now go kill this miniboss with 100000000 hp because you are supposed to be playing it with 3 other people with endgame gear
Some of the level design is genuinely great. I like how most of the boss fights can be handled with stealth, too. The grindiness of it is a fricking chore, though.
>just fight 50 metal gears bro
this part pissed me off. I thought it was going to be a joke fight where the real game continued after you died
MGS2 feels like it was made to be intentionally frustrating
I know it's 2002 but
>3 metal gear RAYs
>they just kinda look at you.
>one might fire missles
>another fires their gun at you.
>maybe they'll do the hydrocannon
>they are all easily dodgeable and have large windups
It literally takes 2 rockets for each
I recall it taking 4 each. Did you play on babby difficulty?
My brother in chrost you just shoot one in the kneecap, then get the crit on the face and repeat. They rarely attack you.
>don't have speakers
>codec gang laughs at you for being poor
>lose
over the line kojimbo
Chaos theory mogs this and entire mgs series and have an actual good gameplay
Only difference is except for chaos theory every other sc game is dogshit
Mgs was a normie game with frick ton of cutscene
This is what a real game looks like
MG2 is the best MG game
Dogshit.
