It's working now. I run my old version of dosbox doesn't work (it runs in the background/memory (this is important / culprit))
I installed the latest version of dosbox, it doesn't work.
I installed dosbox-x, it doesn't work.
I think maybe it's because I didn't chose the default stuff, reinstalled dosbox-x again, it says it needs to close 4 instances of dosbox-x first.
Realize there's also a lot of instances of dosbox in memory.
Restart.
Everything is now working.
Uninstall dosbox-x. Dosbox is all I need.
Now playing civ1 because feeling nostalgic.

What are you talking about? DOSBox-X uses the same core, just enhanced with more features, there's literally no fixes to the emulation for CPU and VGA itself.
