The designs you posted are rational IRL styles, the SV designs are exaggerated fictional anime takes on those, whereas Erika is just a regular kimono wearing girl. The SV designs are like overdesigned Mega versions of what the designs should actually be. If it can't be depicted on a gen 4 pixel sprite, it's a bad design.

That's idiotic. By that logic just about every complex 3D design can be considered bad despite having visual cohesion and having clear parts.
This looks like an eccentric take on a rational IRL getup i.e. female fighter uniform with a robe, the colors and patterns are wild but it's sane and practical. Meanwhile Mela and Eri look like runway experiments with how much crazy offbeat stuff they have going on at once.

Eri's outfit is really not different from what you would see in Japanese WWE, it's wrestling getup with frills and a school uniform motiff.
Mela has ridiculously impractical boots, but they actually hinder her and she's shown walking in a funny way because of it. The rest of her outfit is just a body suit with a large collar and belt.

Let's be fair, the Team Star Squad Leaders are deliberately over the top because they ARE a basically a bunch of nerds acting out trying to be cool, showy and "badass" designs since their uniforms were basically made for when they were gonna have the "showdown" to beat the frick out of their bullies and send a message.
