A 3D Metroid-esque game, with breakable terrain, and an explorable solar system like Outer Wilds.
Unlike other Metroid games that have zones sections off by elevators or doors, this game will require you to fly to a different planet to reach a different zone.
Despite what dangers may be found in this solar system, progression will mainly be knowledge based. Meaning, that the player is no longer prevented from entering an area based on the items they have acquired. Rather, it will take the Outer Wilds approach, and challenge the player to discover how to manipulate the oddities of the various mysteries that litter the solar system.

Some battles will act as a filter too. However, you can technically defeat any boss with the starting equipment, skill, and know-how. Never requiring a specific item to clear a boss.

The breakable terrain will allow the player to tunnel through the planets using their beam weapon to break away the blocks. Bedrock will act as unbreakable barriers, so as to prevent the player from completely tunneling through every puzzle. Still, tunneling will be a large feature, and many little caves and biome will be found under one's feet, and through walls.

Also similar to Outer Wilds: this will not be procedurally generated. At least, not the major puzzles and secrets. Events will perfectly sync up with the turning of the solar system, and every challenge will be hand crafted. Perhaps some procedural generation can be used on the surface level. Like say for example, tunnels might refill with new soil and rock after enough time has passed. The newly patched up terrain might have a slightly different configuration. Grass goes this way instead of that. A tree spouts here instead of there. That kind of thing.

But yeah, pretty much Outer Wilds if you could break terrain and kill things.

A factorio/riftbreaker-like base-building/tower-defense game, but it's tolkeinesque fantasy and you play as a mage and cast spells (kind of like Nox or Magicka) to repel hordes. There would be RPG elements for your character (stats, equipment, a la dungeon defenders), spells customization (either something like Magicka where you combine things on the fly for different effects, or like Morrowind where you pre-craft spells with different effects), and of course some level of base automation autism. Public map-making tools and flexible game options to allow users to fairly heavily customize difficulty and game experience when playing outside of the main campaign. I'd hire Jeremy Soule to do the music.

I first came up with this idea many years ago based on Nox classic tower-D games, but since then factorio/etc have released and kind of fit the niche. I still think it would be a cool concept though and it would get traction.

I'll give you my idea since I'll never make it:

Cosy Farming Sim mixed with Vagabond. You're Miyamoto Musashi fresh off the battle against the Yoshioka School, you're wounded, some of the school survived and you stumble across a soon-to-be starving village.

The gameplay would be Harvest Moon meets Pathelogic meets Ghost of Tsushima. You'd spend you days trying to keep the village from starving which would initially be impossible for a long time, so really you're just choosing who gets to barely survive the famine. Meanwhile, protecting the village and earning money from duels. I got the idea after realizing that cosy farming sims do need a bit of edgy fresh take.

My dream design is to make separate buildings that have specific functions and are connected by a raised wooden walkway with a roof over it, kind of like some japanese villas have. The total living space would still only need to be around 3000sqft, but it would be broken down into smaller buildings. Smaller buildings means more exterior walls for windows, allowing more natural light and better airflow. It also means that you are forced to go outside between buildings multiple times per day, which helps keep you connected with the real world.

It also helps separate noisy spaces from quiet spaces, so the bedroom or office isn't disturbed by the kitchen, living room, or gym.

          Anonymous

You might look at better spacing for garden/water features along the walkways and plan those accordingly into your design. All would really depend on what location you intend to build the home of course. I would landscape the plot where ever it was built to be enclosed or at least somewhat surrounded with ample trees.

            Anonymous

Yeah for sure. This was a rough draft with old pirated software that didn't really work very well so I didn't get any farther. Exact placement and spacing of the buildings would depend on the topography of the land but it would definitely be landscaped around, ideally with a central landscaped garden with fountain or other water features, the goal being that it should be just as beautiful and enjoyable to be outside as it would be inside, with some sitting/rec space in sun and some in shade. I would want to do this on like 50+ acres so there should be at least an acre of forest between me and any neighbors for privacy.

Does someone have to come by and empty them then refill them with new candy every few days? How did he decide which candy went in which tube? If he gets sick of one flavor can he exchange it for another?

Is he really as lonely as the memes suggest? Maybe he is just fairly secretive and doesn't publicize his social life like every other degenerate celebrity? Maybe he is actually happy living comfortably on his earnings without feeling like he needs to constantly create new things to remain relevant?

Probably not. He's a billionaire. He probably has a visitor at least every other day if not every day. But the fact that he's a billionaire means that roughly 90% of the people who take the time to visit with him are primarily there to do business. No doubt he's very comfortable besides, but being lucratively wealthy is a life and personally altering experience. Suddenly everyone wants something from you, including your own family.

Also, a no questions asked frickysucky from someone you hired is not the same thing as companionship.

Honestly, it's a wonder why he hasn't made an AAA game that beats the crap out of any other currently available.
Hate it or love it, genshin became a massive success and only had a budget of 100m.
He can literally do ANYTHING he wants, he can even just spend the day coming up with ideas for a game and hire the best devs in the field to do them.
He doesn't have to answer to a corporate investor board or diversity departments that would ruin his ideas because he has enough money to fund it all independently.

He has the potential to make the best game of the decade, a game that leaves baldurs/starfield/elden ring/cyberpunk/etc in the absolute dust.
I have no idea why he hasn't yet.

He is just a one trick pony guy, he was there at the right moment and the right time with a catchy concept
That kind of luck won't manifest itself twice no matter what he engages in the new process
He won't pull of another good successful game ever again even if he tried hard, let alone another success like Minecraft
He is irrelevant now and left so far behind, won't even be able to code a basic shit game up to nowadays market's standards

He can just be the "ideas guy" and hire people do to all the work.
And even if his idea fail, he has so much money he can keep trying since he has so much money.
Plus, in the current state of gaming even a polished turd sells.

Being alone with infinite resources is basically my dream life, I want nothing to do with social events. Notch's life sounds like heaven to me. But devs want to make their own shit, if you just want codemonkeys then thats what you will get. They wont put any effort into any of it and just take you for all the money possible.
To run a dev company you need to actively participate in development with people who actually want to work with you because you share a vision. Thats how good games get made. Nobody wants to work with Notch lol maybe in 2014 he had that pull to gather a team to make some fricking gayms, but he was too autistic to do that and now his fame is gone and he is forgotten. He is from another generation, nobody cares anymore.
Its easy to say "just make games lawl" but its not that easy. In the end he isnt an "entrepreneur" or "COO" or whatever he is just a shy, fat sperg who liked to play and make video games. He should have stuck to that instead of selling out.

our guy? he used Ganker for direction advice constantly prior to Minecrafts explosive success, jacked up the price of it the second it started taking off, stopped listening to Ganker when we started b***hing about the lack of updates when him and the dev team kept partying with the money instead of working on the jank code, then left the board entirely and stayed on r*ddit where the soicucks circlejerked him 24/7.

How the frick does any of that make him "our" guy? he said some mildly conservative things on twitter? who the frick cares?

It still boggles my fricking mind that Moot had one of the most influential websites in the world and he gave it up for a deadend job at Google, one of the most souless corprate entities in the world. Like yeah i get it Ganker isnt very profitable but google? Why would anyone give up something they created to go be a fricking wagie? And You just KNOW the middle management at google are fricking hell to work with.

Moot did the right thing. I remember when when in 2008/9 he went out to dinner and some /b/tard recognized and posted a pic of moot along with the telephone number of the restaurant and hundreds of people called it asking to talk with him until the manager asked moot to leave. Not to mention being harassed weekly by the FBI and other gov agencies, losing money because ad revenues are shit and being only known as "the Ganker guy".

Normalgays are all moronic and deserve to be fricked by depression.
If I ever get rich from my porn games, I'd buy an Iberian colonial-style house, which has large terraces that circle the entire house (and sometimes an open courtyard inside the house that's super comfortable).
The best thing is to wake up in one of these houses and go out on the terrace in the morning surrounded by nature. It's as if your whole body is thanking you for being in contact with what it has naturally selected.
But I don't know, maybe normalgays feel the same way when they wake up and look at a bunch of sweets in tubes in an artificial environment that resembles a hospital with pop culture references everywhere.

yeah I still work IT support for a legal company but I now do part time hours (3-4 days a week) instead of full time and nobody knows about my inheritance

Yeah, living in a studio can be kind of bad sometimes, but with $700k it was probably the best decision. Now if you had inherited $7 million, it would be a different story.

I hope I can adapt like you, because the colonial house is just a dream, in the real world I'm getting ready to buy a studio.
As I only need a place to sleep and a computer to work, I think that will be enough.
One thing that bothers me is receiving visitors. My brother, for example, can't go two hours without smoking something, and in a small apartment he would make the whole environment inhospitable with his presence...

sure, keep a reliable car that does what you want, feel free to upgrade the stereo and speakers though, if you like listening to music. Spend 2-3 grand on it and experience the difference. Maybe upgrade the seating fabric too depending on if theres a place that'll do it quickly.

Feeding people doesn't work. And I used to believe that the right thing to do was to give them "work", but that also goes wrong.
I remember a story about an anon who made a lot of money in the US and set up a charity business in his country (I think it was in Asia), and put his family in charge of the charity, giving them a good salary and so on. And then he found out that the family was using the charity as a front for their more lucrative business that involved things that were on the edge of illegality, and they deceived him every time he traveled there to see if everything was okay, lol.
The most I would do with money is fund some school for kids that used traditional curriculum and methods instead of the garbage that is modern education.
