Donkey Kong Country 3 was better than DKC1 and DKC2.

Donkey Kong Country 3 was better than DKC1 and DKC2. It's the best DKC platformer out of the three and is basically a perfected formula of the DKC franchise. The music might have been a little hit or miss, but the tunes still hold up.

    >and DKC2.
    Hell fricking no
    >It's the best DKC platformer out of the three and is basically a perfected formula of the DKC franchise.
Hell no. Again. So many damn gimmick levels and a lot of them were terrible
    >The music might have been a little hit or miss, but the tunes still hold up.
    >a little
I mean I don’t haaaate it and like some songs but coming off DKC2 does it no favors. The only song from DKC 3 I’d say that’s on par with something from DKC2 is the underwater theme.
Also frick kiddy. Went solo Dixie whenever I could help it. And completely frick that shitty elephant for replacing rambi.

      >The only song from DKC 3 I’d say that’s on par with something from DKC2 is the underwater theme.
That's only cause you're comparing it to the underwater theme in DKC2 (which sucks btw).

Nah DKC3’s water theme is genuinely good imo without comparison. Continues the trend of DK underwater themes being great.
If I had to list off the songs I thought were decent I’d say the tree top levels, factory levels(killer instinct vibes), final boss theme has that rare feel that makes me nostalgic, canyon levels mainly for the mining melancholy remix, the Christmas variant of the bonus stage theme, the inside the castle walls remix……think that’s it.

DK3 has too many unfun gimmick levels and auto scrollers. 1 doesn't overstay its welcome that 3 does.

    2>1>3

3's not a terrible game. But it was pretty weak in the series.

Did 2 have an underwater level where your controls are reversed tho?

Some ideas just aren't good dude.

By your logic, a level where you don't want to have to eat your own shit is a "skill issue"

They are all pretty close to me, I like the atmosphere in one the best but it lacks the polish of the sequels, besides that Stilt Village song I liked Eveline's music in both one and three.

I had no issue with that one, in my mind pressing backwards on the dpad was just me turning on their propeller and suddenly it was as easy as if the controls were normal.

None involved an elephant being afraid of rats
None involved that wonky rocket barrel
None involved fricking rng lightning strikes
Didn’t mind the reverse controls, low gravity, snowball boss fight

Most of DKC2 gimmick levels weren’t overly annoying to play. Main gameplay wise. Lost world stuff though could be a genuine pain, but still feel fair. Somewhat.

I'll take any DKC3 gimmick over slow moving lava balloons or those slow track levels in the first game, they aren't hard, just boring.

I’ll offer a more uncommon complaint. The new enemy designs were fugly.

          ...yeah they kinda are.

Meanwhile, in DKC2, you have a parrot that only knows how to go down as a level gimmick

If we’re playing that card there’s a vurning rope level that only goes up. Not that I hated either stage.

          >elephant being afraid of rats

          Valid that stage sucked shit

          >lightning

Bro if you wanted a DKC thread you didn't have to start with a shitpost. All DKC games are incredibly well done platformers, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
DKC generally had strong but basic level design.
DKC2 great level designs that varied between horizontal and vertical movement but suffered from some annoying partner levels and a character that trivialize the traversing of said levels.
DKC3 Had the most unique level design where levels were built to be traversed by the kongs in game(i.e. Kiddie being able to roll on water, Dixie's glide) but is marred by an increased amount of pet levels and autoscrollers.
All are great in their own ways, and each has elements that prevent them from being perfect.

That being said DKC2 is my favorite due to it being a nice middle ground between 1 and 3.

2 is overhyped for sure. Even back in the 90s, I thought DKC3 was a good sequel to the series. DKC2 never got this overrated until the parroting started

    >rpg bears
    >Kiddie is kawaii and funny monky and Dixie can fly
    >boats
    >swanky's sideshow (2 had a gay ass boring quiz)
    >collecting the bonus coins and banana birds
    >don't have to pay to save like 2
    >a bunch of different map areas where 2 pretty much just like a jungle, lava, and gay pirate shit and that's it
    >good bosses that were unique and aren't just hitting them 3 times which was fricking boring moron shit
    >best secrets
    >3 had the most content and variety
3 IS THE BEST ONE EASILY. 2 IS THE WORST. PERIOD. NO TROLL. IF YOU THINK 2 IS THE BEST ONE YOU ARE LITERALLY A FRICKING WRONG homosexual moron WHO DIDN'T PLAY ANY OF THE FRICKING GAMES NOT EVEN 2. EVEN 1 IS BETTER THAN 2 BY A LOOOOOOT!!!!
