At this point, what could Xbox even do to save themselves? Free multiplayer or something?
Tbh I think Xbox has just tarnished their credibility at this point kind of like what happened to Sega, for different reasons they both just let the customer down one too many times even though both of them did offer some really awesome things which is a shame because PlayStation is so average to me
>do nothing
>win
snoy is truly the master at letting its enemies kill themselves
Honestly Sega was never even half as bad as this.
Xbox just had Microsoft $$$ to continue long past the point of death
all they had to do was make it have a ez windows 10 mode and fricking millions wouldve bought it because of the headache of setting up a pc and building one with alll the parts. THIS COULDVE SAVED XBOX. i bought a SeS when retroarch was available in the store, Now its fricking dead and this SeS is in the fricking closet because im not paying for games i already own on steam.
imagine the boatloads of zoomer kids rushing to buy series s’ to get games like lethal company and friendworld, and whatever streamerbait steam ea games are available.
Why does that textbox feel a little too far to the left?
Unironically, Yes. This was actually a very predictable outcome. The amount of money spent on acquisitions and the amount of money left on the table by removing those games from the most popular platform is probably the driving factor for what is about to come.
>decide that more money is made by just being a publisher instead of a platform
>try to keep failing platform alive with just gamepass
>get laughed at(rightly)
>give up and remove xbox branding entirely and it's cursed past
Welcome to Microsoft gaming. Here's a few predictions for Microsoft Gaming while I'm at it.
>being a publisher gets you way more leeway with public opinion
>people only care about the next release and will forgot any and all controversies if that next release is great
>expect microsoft to be the next EA in terms of monetisation because anything they do isn't going to blow back on platform sales
>goodwill becomes the last concern for the publisher because after all, if this was about goodwill, xbox would still exist.
Phil was probably given a deadline to turn around the brand.
>buy a bunch of studios and turn around the brand by x date
>if you fail we still own a bunch of studios and can ditch the brand and still become the biggest publisher in the industry
Phil failed.
Wait until Phil runs these other companies into the ground, a sight to behold, god I'd love to see it end Microsoft as a whole
and if Microsoft actually starts doing that its open battle with Valve at that point
It was over when you supported an American company.
Reminder that Nintendo was a degree of magnitude further buried than Xbox ever was. Iwata admitted his mistakes and held himself and the other executives responsible and spent the remainder of his life, up to and including his deathbed, trying to put things right and un-dig his hole. The result of his work is now on track to be the most successful system ever.
Mattrick left within weeks and Spencer has done nothing but written blank Microsoft cheques in the decade since. Turns out throwing money around doesn't put out fires. Now time is up.
White people fundamentally do not understand the video game market, just leave this stuff to Japanese like Sony and Nintendo.
yeah.. they dont understand the market they invented
right, so hows that jap economy doing today? LMAO
Yup
It was fricked from the start:
It was fricked before this, moron. Kinect reveal had people questioning the future of Xbox three years before this. moronic zoomer.
>buy gaming studios for billions
>invest in frick all for your platform
what is microsofts move here?
The investments were never a mistake, they weren't betting on the platform, they were betting on the investments.
>platform fails
>still own and can make hundreds of billions in publishing alone because of acquisitions
Say what you want, microsoft wasn't make a $70 billion dollar gamble on xbox, it was an investment in publishing.
>investments were never a mistake
I dunno, for some companies they certainly never took a hint
>rumors rumors rumors
Only one with an IQ below 80 falls for this shit.
bro it's completely over and you haven't even realized it yet
phil could have debunked it all
he didn't
in a week, hi fu rush will be multiplat
then, one by one, the rest
the xbox community ended when they ended 1 vs 100. its just been a slow death since then. with wanting to spy on people, wanting to use ai to censor and moderate, wanting to eliminate physical media.
I wish consoles didnt die out. Everyone jumping on the PC train just meant more expensive GPUs
xbox introduced pain online into the console scape and should fricking NEVER be forgiven for that. it was a scourge and a cancer and I fricking hate you all.
Its over lads. Buying a PS5 slim and cancelling my gamepass first thing tomorrow. We had a good run, but its time to let go.
Excited to play my ps4 games on ps5 though
>1994: Sega releases the 32x, a console upgrade nobody asked for, just to try to get ahead
>7 years later: Sega leaves the console market
>2017: Xbox releases the Xbox One X, a console upgrade nobody asked for, just to get ahead of the competition
>7 years later: Xbox leaves the console market
We need to drive Microsoft entirely out of gaming. This is a step in the right direction but it is not enough.
>Xbox brings their games to PS
>PS stop doing 3rd-party exclusivity deals
>Xbox pays way under value for every 3rd-party exclusivity deal possible
>PS gets movies and Xbox's terrible games
>Xbox gets all the good 3rd-party games exclusive
Masterful play Phil
>Xbox pays way under value for every 3rd-party exclusivity deal possible
They could've bought the entirety of whatever 3rd parties exclusivity they didn't buy with the money they spent on the ones they bought.
Xbox never got the same kind of third party exclusives as Sony because they couldn't afford it, if Sony wanted to buyout a games exclusivity all they had to do was payout the amount of Xbox sales it would get, so tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of units at best, if MS wanted a game to go exclusive they would have to buy out Sony's sales, so millions to tens of millions of units, and then the DLC, MS weren't going to pay a few hundred million per game just for exclusivity.
