There are maximum 2-3 attacks going on at the same time and all of them are "solvable", i.e. everything can be easily "countered". To beat the game on regular you just need to open your eyes and not tunnel vision.
Now compare that to something like touhou on lunatic.

Play Alien Soldier, it's the main inspiration for Cuphead along with Gunstar Heroes. It's a boss rush run n gun like Cuphead, but much faster paced, you kill bosses a lot quicker so it's more focused on the "rush" than the individual bosses. It's the 2nd best game of all time (first being RE4)
