Yep...season passes in single player ARPG's are now the norm...

Shareholders are now the target audience for games, no the actual gamers that play them.

unironically a good thing. you get more content on a regular basis. I think it’s worth it

skins are content though? last time I checked, it takes resources and labor to create skins, so it’s only fair we pay for them

                >it takes resources and labor to create skins
It's actually included in the working time of 2d/3d artists, they don't require aditional staff with extra time. So no, it doesn't take more resources and labor to create these specific skins/cosmetics.

                Anonymous

Those artists put in work to make those skins. This costs time and money.

How does it not cost labor and resources to make skins? Do those skins just magically appear? Obviously they need to work to create them.

These skins are already produced with many others during the development of the game (some of which are not retained).
But I was just a project manager on 2 AA games and 3 AAA games, so you know propably better than me how the task asignment and the industry works.

making a skin is not a deviantart comission you fricking moron, they produce these in mass during the dev

Let me put this in a way your tiny, pea brain will understand. Employees need to spend the time at work creating these skins, right? And when they do, the wage they earn is essentially partly for them creating these skins. Which means, the company is spending money to have these skins made. These employees are also spending the time to make these skins. Time that could be spent doing anything else. Instead, the company is having the employees spend valuable time creating these skins. That means it is also costing the company time to have these skins made. Which means, they obviously expect an ROI on these projects. Typically, this is achieved through charging money for these assets.

What do you think an artistic job is doing at Blizzard 50 hours a week exactly? Here at Irvine, something like 20-25% of the artistic time is already wasted/non-used. You know literally nothing.

Do you not understand how jobs work? When an employee works on a project at work, like making skins, that means the part of the salary they earn is for working on that project. Which means the company is spending money to have those skins made. Why does it matter if a bunch of time is wasted, time is still necessary to get skins created.

                >Do you not understand how jobs work?

The fact that you keep going on irrelevant tangents speaks volumes. You think that it costs a company nothing to get skins designed and developed? That skins just magically appear out of thin air and that paid employees don’t need to spend any time to make them?

1- People are affected at ONE project. ONE. 1.
2- They get paid the same money each month, no matter how long they work on it.
3- Artists work at best 75-80% of their time.
4- In these 75-80, they already produce the special cosmetics for MTX.
5- Whatever happens, 20-25% of their time is lost and paid for nothing.
Now shut you fricking mouth up, you literally don't know shit.

                >In these 75-80, they already produce the special cosmetics for MTX.
Ok so at least you admit now that employees spend some time developing skins. Guess what? If someone spends time doing something at work, part of the wage they earn is for that work. It doesn’t matter they spend half their time jerking off, the fact of the matter is, the company is spending money for employee’s results, and skins are part of these results. Therefore a company is essentially paying money to have these skins made

Sounds like you have no idea how jobs work. When you perform tasks at work, like designing and creating skins, the wage you earn is essentially you getting paid to perform those tasks. And you see, you getting paid means the company is losing money, money they expect to get back and more by charging money for those skins. Don’t worry, once you finally get an actual job though, you will understand

No, so thisis not a determining factor in deciding if it is content.

I don't care about cuck passes that just award shitty cosmetics, so having to buy a expensive version with that crap included just to play on the "cool kids" launch day is bullshit.

You should care. In order to sell those cosmetics the Devs are intentionally downgrading the design quality of the cosmetics you get without paying. That's why mtx is such a negative factor in games - to accommodate them and maximize sales the base game is degraded.

It's a company, not a charity, why are there so many childs here? Just read my previous answers. They need Return On Investment (ROI) because all ressources costs money. It's management basics. I can show you a lot of my courses about this specific topic, even if it's real business science.

Are you moronic? The business model is to make a worse game for me so they can make more money. Why would any consumer accept such a practice?

Do you know how a company works? It's some basics you should know. They hire ressources to produce cosmetics and they expect ROI. How many posts should I make about this?

              >How many posts should I make about this?
Preferably no more ever. ROI is no excuse for immoral market practices, nor is it an argument in itself. In fact you don't seem to have any arguments at all, you are only repeating that abbreviation.

Yes, I totally believe that. Just like when Devs say "we will definitely continue supporting this game even though it didn't meet our sales target". If there's one group you can trust it's an American marketing division. They never say stuff just so they can sell more.
