>Don't know what to do with a character design
>Give them a face scar
I noticed this with a lot of characters in Baldurs Gate 3. I'm guilty of it too. Most of the characters I've made in games like Nioh 2, Code Vein, Soul Calibur, etc have face scars
>why is this universally liked thing used so much
internet discussion is so low iq
It's only liked because it's cool, but in real life it looks atrocious.
Lae'zel, Shadowheart and Wyll all have really prominent face scars and you meet all of them extremely early into the game. It went from "I wonder how she got that?" to "oh everybody and their grandma has face scars, that's just normal here"
scars are subtle storytelling. also every man should have at least one scar
I've got several but only because I'm a clumsy dumbass
I have a bunch because I was a moronic kid.
I have a scar on my penis, does that count?
oy veyyyyy
Nope, I flipped off a bicycle as a kid and landed on a metal pole, bloodied it real good, scarred up too. Ribbed for her pleasure now.
holy shit
Yeah, it was definitely a time. In short, if you're gonna do stuff, be aware of your surroundings just in case. That includes fences, had a teacher when I was middle school that hopped a fence and his testicle had gotten caught on the top as he hopped over it and ripped it off.
Always be careful.
my penis got cut because it was dry, I kept fapping
without letting it heal, now there's a scar
Happened to me, too. Unless you got it really bad, it'll go away with time.
t. haven't fapped in 10 months
I have a very faint nose scar from when it got broken, it was a very clean break so it healed very well and the scar is basically invisible now
but it is in the perfect place for it be like the anime nose scar
you can see it very clearly when my skin gets a bit red from it being hot, be that coming out of the shower, or on a hot day at the beach
a few people have been surprised by it because of how clear it is in that situation and suddenly seeing it
I have several from playing with dogs, in fact, my shepherd is chewing on my arm right now.
I also have a gnarly one on my elbow from an exposed bone fracture when I was 4, looks like train tracks.
I have a small burn scar on my hand from when I was a teenager and I accidentally touched the top of the oven while getting some potatoes out for my Mom.
My left thumb has two scars. One when I was like 3 years old and a hot iron fell on my hand, and the other when I was taking copper out of cables with a cooking knife and I pushed too hard and the knife just went through my thumb's flesh like it was water.
I usually do a fricked up eye, sometimes with scars around it
basically the eye is all clouded over, discolored, and obviously damaged. When I put some damage around the eye as well it will usually be radiating out of it, like it got hit by some corrupted thing thats spread out, but just some scars through it can work well as well, I don't like to shy away as if the eye never got damaged like many things do
>movie called Scarface
>doesn't have scar on face
what a hack
Its not about the scar, its about having the option. Nobody likes to not use their options. If its there, you feel like you are missing out by not using it. Same goes with different color for each eyes. If you have the option, you feel like using it. Also face tattoos. I now try to keep my characters basic as to not become the main character cringe stereotype.
Kakashi, Zoro and Kenpachi would work fine without the scar, the design is carried by other elements like Kakashi's mask and beauty mark, Zoro's green hair and perpetual frown and Kenpachi's insane hair jingle bells and eyepatch with little mouths.
Boruto seems like they're trying too hard to sicern him from Naruto by going the complete opposite way with his design, ironically tethering him even harder to Naruto, what they should have done is incline him more towards the Hyuga side to distinguish him while keeping him credible as Naruto's son.
Idk who bottom left is.
Levi mostly dies due to AoT's shitty art style, everyone in that show looks like the same person with slightly different hair.
Originally Kishimoto wanted to give him just the Byakugan for him to stand out but forgot about it, and now this is what we have.
Kakashi's scar is very important to his character
Not sure about the rest on those list, including borushit
Kenpachi is bound to be scarred just because of his nature and bloodlust, Zoro's is just because of training and to 'look cool'. Boruto is just because of edge.
Boruto had some ungrateful migrant take over his life because Naruto had the absolute audacity to give said migrant a loving home and family to come back to.
Kenpachi is just fricking crazy and loves fighting, so he has scars all over his body.
Zoro trained with the strongest swordsman in the world, so he got a scar on his right eye.
Levi is kinda bullshit, since a grenade exploded right on his face, leaving him disfigured, but he was back fighting less than a week after that, either way he looks too clean in the OP image.
You understand that all of those characters are from universes where life-threatening physical combat is part of everyday life? It would be strange if a character or two didn't end up with scars.
Oro?
I wanted to test pain threshold/knife sharpness so I cut my forearm 2 years ago.
The wound barely bled but the scar lasted for quite a while. two years now, it's white.
It wouldn't be difficult to give yourself such a scar, SKIPPING THE EYELID.
possible eternal cringe if people can spot that you did it to yourself.
Everyone here except Kakashi and Kenpachi would look better without the scar. Boruto is especially moronic because the implication is that his eye got damaged but he can still use the Jogan in that eye just fine. Zoro is also bad, what the frick was Oda thinking. And when he tries to explain this in the manga he gets cut off because this hack hasn't even come up with an explanatiom that is 500 fricking chapters overdue. I hate post TS OP but I keep reading to see the ending.
>zoro could literally have an eyepatch but Oda didnt do it
bullshit "hes saving it". for fricking what?
Kenpachi having a scar makes sense though, he's a crazy mother fricker who likes getting in fights. The fact that he wears bells so people can track him better and wears an magic eye patch that literally weakens him demonstrates his obsession with battle.
Him having a clean face would unironically be unrealistic.
Scars are what tell your story.
