        >they used the shitty mega gimmick in more than just a game
I don't see how this can be a point in favor of megas, at least the other battle gimmicks fricked over sooner.

Because XYgotes think it's good, so it gets used as a supporting argument everywhere.
I'll just say any gimmick that drives the lead artist on the series for its entire lifecycle to artist's block (due to being told "hey, make a 4th evolutionary form for these creatures you long signed off on as being complete designs, kthxbai"), you got a shitty gimmick in more ways than just mechanically.

I see your point, but there's no reason to assume the same person would be designing the Mega as the original. That would be ideal, yes, but that's not how GF does things.

90% of people don't finish vidya, meaning to 14,670,000 people, it didn't exist, because it was locked to post-game, which you had to actively seek out, rather than get it handed to you at your house.
Gimmicks are gimmicks, regardless HOW many times they get used - especially when the bulk of its appearances were as non-focus gimmick in non-lead gen pair games (because shitloads of people don't buy more than the lead Gen pair game - SS's sales compared to both BDSP and Legends prove that one)

Even if you never played a regular game, Pokémon Go and other spin-offs brought Megas to casual players everywhere. While other gimmicks don’t get any exposure beyond their meta.

Other spin-offs have other gimmicks too, i think you are just a delusional moron.
            Also again: Exposition =/= Good

Megas are cool in concept. It's just that, in typical GF style, they didn't balance it well and a lot of them should have just been proper evos.

      >Creates mega evolution
      >Doesn't give a battle bond form to all kalos starters as a pure organical transformation to contrast the artificially of mega evolution
      What these shitheads were thinking?

        >creates a gimmick to shill old pokémon
        >get told by TPC to make a gimmick for the new starter popular with the kids, in clear contradiction to the core reason the gimmick was created in the first place
        >make a shitty form change that could easily be binned instead to not overshadow the gimmick
        >refuse to distriute the rsepull until after itss focus gen was finished
        >binned the arsepull form the next time they brought the creature back
The question is why couldn't you see what the gimmick was for and why they didn't want to give new Gen creatures any part of it. I will say, with this mentality still, you're perfect for a power position in TPCi.

      >tfw Gen 3 actually ended up getting the most megas
Based ORAS saving this gimmick from being overly biased towards KANTOOOO, shame about the lack of Gen 2-5 megas though, and all starters should've gotten megas I think

unironically the best gimmick,it's just a bonus evolution that can turn shitmons into pseudo-legends
A shame some of them look goofy sure, but the vast majority are pretty cool. Just look at Mega Steelix for exemple, this thing fricks

Execution could have been better, however telling your Pokémon to do an attack a different way to normal is very good for feeling more immersed , and aside from aim for the horn shenanigans I would like to see it expanded

As a side note, how would you feel about a pseudo-VATs system in battle? For example, you tell Pikachu to use Thunderbolt, and you get a vats style highlight around the opponent and are able to target chest for highest accuracy, limbs for speed/physical debuffs to the opponent, head for special debuffs, etc. Targeting the smaller areas with give lower accuracy, and maybe certain small low chance to hit areas are critical spots, etc. Just spitballing here. Maybe even having it activate when the opponent's attack is being used, and having a small chance to diffuse/deflect/etc based on it?

how do you do that style of system when you have Pokémon like Voltorb who don't even have a discernible body plan besides just being a sphere?

        Anonymous

It would depend on the 'mon, obviously, but maybe striking the segments, or eyes? Or maybe some attacks expose the top/underside and those are more critical areas, I'm just making shit up as I go

    (OP)
    >made speed not a god stat
    >made weak coverage moves viable
    >actually tactical usage lets you get in 2 turns in a row
Weak b8, m8. 0/8 no yous for you.

I didn't mind it, but I also don't think my opinion of the game would have been any different without it, so it's a pretty useless system after all
