I'm pretty sure Maxwell would beat Wolfgang in tree chopping since you can have 5 minions chopping and shoveling, I play exclusively pubs so Maxwell allows me to get a free 12 inventory backpack which randoms can't access unless I let them(or another maxwell joins) and to mine rocks without flint, also minions to help in boss fights and pigman harvesting if my ping is bad.
I haven't touched Maxwell in forever but doesn't making his summons use up a bunch of sanity? Seems kinda difficult to upkeep compared to just lifting your dumbbell a bit
Summons just lower his max sanity until they go away, you can get 5 minions without going insane, and 6 if you do. Maxwell doesn't really have any sanity problems unless you're fighting a boss.
When your sanity cap goes back up does it automatically fill that gap too or do you need to refill it with green caps or whatever?

It doesn't refill, the sanity stays at the same level it was when it uncaps.
You need to stay insane constantly to get nf so this doesn't really bother me.
>She's getting reworked soon
How do you know? And who's the third character, assuming it's gonna be a batch of 3 like the first set of reworked characters.
Not all that surprising because of the two DLCs that are not on DST. And I guess for those who don't mod would prefer the original since it doesn't have HP scaling for mobs.
any tips for her and wanda? picked them up today? is it as simple as
wurt: >find large swamp and base there >find lunar island & have enough food to live forever >slowly build up merm army >??? >win
Yeah Wurt is pretty straightforward although I like to build right on the edge of a swamp and another biome, so on one side I have have my base and the other side my merm buildings, so I don't have to deal with tentacles as often. Then I rush a boat and boat upgrades ASAP so I can get my kelp for the merm king and from there it's pretty straightforward
average 90% of players >die in first winter >what are the ruins?
game suffers from an awful case of not explaining anything to the players and catering to the long-time players. the scrapbook is not enough. path of exile did the same shit and that accomplished absolutely nothing
>player joins your game >runs off and dies to charlie immediately then waits around for you to revive them >player 2 joins >spends the whole game next to your ice box and eats all the contents >player 3 joins >takes a bunch of stuff from chests so they can get to work >but then logs out in 5 minutes with half your stuff now gone
>the Chinese player that joins, doesn't say a word, makes his own minibase away from your base, then leaves after making an alchemy engine, large campfire, and crockpot
Now that you mention it, you're right. I wonder why they do that. I guess because none of the characters LOOK Chinese so the robot is the closest option they have to self insert???
I hate what Klei did to the game and the franchise and I've noticed that a lot of people feel the same way. The forums have been shitting themselves lately.

they're overcomplicating things while also making the game easy. look at the most recent update for example, willow has fricking fireball spells, she's a mage now. literally no character has any downsides now with the introduction of the skill trees.

We DBZ now
Early threats that used to be threatening are now ants because we're fighting GODS with hp regen and armor and shit in end game and we are scaling with them
i dont know if its what they were going for but in a way it makes that they slowly learned to adapt to the constant and arent all running around dying anymore but i wish they at least added a option or something to play characters pre reworked
If you get Don't Starve Together I'll gladly play with you, you'll definitely die and frick a lot of shit up at the beginning and I'll be fine with it, and I can give you some direction when you want (although i think it's more fun figuring things out yourself)
don't starve is probably the preferred experience for solos though, but only if you get the reign of giants DLC, otherwise it's way too bare bones. The other dlc should be considered later since I think they only add content to different types of worlds and don't add on to the base experience.
I see. I'll look into getting both on gog and the russian place respectively. I'm busy with other games right now; I simply wanted to ask to know where to begin. Is there any thread on /vm/ or something?
game has too few Ganker players to keep /vg/ and /vm/ threads alive

Nope, the game has a pretty sizeable playerbase and yet it's never talked about

You can join someone else's lobby or dedicated servers that are up 24/7, there are also klei official servers which I play constantly.
I can see why some people think he's OP now. Can practically tank most bosses and still have left over time from the transformation. Still enjoy him though, especially some of the utility stuff for early game like the walking cane.
I thought I'd give the other two character skill trees a go, just to see how different they were. Wolfgang's was disappointing, missed opportunity to not have more unique skills like the whistle + path progression tied to his different forms. (eg: Wimpy or normal form having unique upgrades exclusive to them)
I mean you'd want to pretty much stay mighty as much as possible so the other forms getting bonuses would kinda just bloat the talent tree, especially wimpy bonuses
I think it could work. They managed to make a one-beat character like WX-78 the most versatile after his rework. Giving Wolfgang's forms more depth could improve his scaling, as opposed to the poorly implemented elemental damage skills to keep him semi-relevant late-game.

For his base form: upgradable whistle/coach skills that focus more on the sanity + damage buff, except it could potentially work on him as well, alternatively, it could branch into other types of buffs like temporary speed boosts as well.
Mighty form: temporary damage negation skill that uses up some mightiness, temporary invulnerability when losing or gaining mighty form.

goddamn I would love this, running away from monkeys while being in mighty form is a death sentence

Using a skill point for damage immunity on transforming shouldn't be a thing, it should just be baked into the character by default
I prefer Maxwell myself, free labor right out of the gate and incredible amounts of cheese with FW’s gear.
Wolfgang farms shit better imo since can often just instantly cut down trees and break rocks when he's mighty

She's getting reworked soon so hopefully she'll be good beyond griefing everyone
Wigfrid as well, she seems like she'll be even stronger than before

she cute
Wendy is cuter
Original DS or DST?
Also what are some good character mods
I'd be surprised If anyone is still playing the original don't starve at this point
Not all that surprising because of the two DLCs that are not on DST. And I guess for those who don't mod would prefer the original since it doesn't have HP scaling for mobs.
>Is the best character in your path
too smug

been playing this game on and off for years but my god
klei releases content
>planar damage
>sick lategame shit
>weird new bosses
average 90% of players
>die in first winter
>what are the ruins?
game suffers from an awful case of not explaining anything to the players and catering to the long-time players. the scrapbook is not enough. path of exile did the same shit and that accomplished absolutely nothing

don't worry anon they added a new boss that 0.1% of players will get to
because 19.9% are too confused by the mechanics and repetitive grind to get to that boss
not mentioning the remaining 80% you mention who are moronic, but usually in games you can at least count on the 20%
you mathematician or smth
path of exile gatekept all the normalgays with this, it probably might be the only game to become popular while maintaining it's original playerbase
>the Chinese player that joins, doesn't say a word, makes his own minibase away from your base, then leaves after making an alchemy engine, large campfire, and crockpot
>the god tier wendy that speaks with formal speech, proper punctuation and capitalization
every single chinese player i have seen in the game picked the robot for some reason, is there some secret lore i don't know?
Now that you mention it, you're right. I wonder why they do that. I guess because none of the characters LOOK Chinese so the robot is the closest option they have to self insert???
I hate what Klei did to the game and the franchise and I've noticed that a lot of people feel the same way. The forums have been shitting themselves lately.

Explain? Or do you share the same sentiment as
they're overcomplicating things while also making the game easy. look at the most recent update for example, willow has fricking fireball spells, she's a mage now. literally no character has any downsides now with the introduction of the skill trees.
Characters are getting power crept to hell

We DBZ now

i dont know if its what they were going for but in a way it makes that they slowly learned to adapt to the constant and arent all running around dying anymore but i wish they at least added a option or something to play characters pre reworked
the thing is them having no downsides makes certain characters like wilson entirely pointless
Wilson will always be pointless, he has been since powers were first introduced, NO ones downsides have been that bad in over a decade
How do I get into this game? Do I get Don't Starve or Don't Starve Together? Or both? What about DLC?

The player distribution is like 90% Chinese which blew my mind and is why nobody talks about it here
What character do you have the most hours in? Mine is picrel.
How you liking his skill tree?

Say how many Guards does it take to kill dragonfly? took about 10 and a bunnyman to kill deerclops they all lived though
Not sure but I only had 4 warrior merms against deerclops and got through it with only losing 2 and only had to hit deerclops 7~ times myself
Forgot to mention you'd probably want a shitload of merms since the fire damage would probably kill them all
8 to 12 guards if you have walls to stop lavae summons. If no walls, then I don't know.
