The Answer is one of those things where a company goes "If there's enough budget left over, maybe we'll do it", only for them to crunch the numbers and realize immediately very early on that, no, there won't be enough budget left over. And of course they're not gonna add more budget, it's Atlus. They're the second-most successful cheapskates in the industry.
Yeah I did homosexual, put growth skill on multiple personas to speed up grinding. It wasn't much worse of a dungeon crawler than the main game and if Atlus cared, they could've easily made it much better with a few minor changes, like boosting exp after fusion since you don't get exp bonus from social links like in the main game.
that's why if you make a remake, you should include parts of the Answer in it to, to make it turn out better and for more coherently into the main game.
It doesn't diminish the main game, the characters are slightly exaggerated but the plot itself isn't terrible.
The Answer sucks because it's really grindy and boring for the most part while not adding that much.
The Compendium is unnecessary to The Answer and not really the mode's biggest problem. Realistically, you will never need more than four good Personas, if even that.
Definitive content is Male MC, FeMC is always just fanservice. The added content of The Answer has always been a disappointment, fans have been vocal about it since release. That's why its not on P3P for one.
I understand that base game is male MC. That's not what I'm debating.
I'm saying there's extra content for the game included in subsequent releases. We would call it DLC if Persona 3 was released today. We now have a new version of Persona 3 being released, but it's missing all that DLC.
Instead of getting a definitive edition everyone could just point to as the way to play Persona 3, we now have pic related.
And I would be in favor of that if they could manage it, but it's also a massive investment for something that might not ever pay off. From a business perspective, it doesn't make sense to bother.

No. It's very much focused on Aigis, but her development was primarily in The Journey. The Answer is more of how everyone is handling their grief, and how they overcome it. It gives them the opportunity to come to a true resolution, letting them all walk their separate ways but still remain lifelong comrades.
To put it into perspective, think about 4's anime when the IT is fighting Mitsuo. We get a what-if scenario of what happens when the case is resolved. With the only thing tying the cast together now over, everyone is slowly drifting apart. Even in terms of the games, we're not sure what will happen to the cast should Yu leave forever, or the adventures just stop.

The Answer really only needs five Personas at most:
1) One Persona for attacking weaknesses. This Persona doesn't really need anything more than basic single-target elemental skills. You don't really need it to have EVERY element either, as you will likely keep Metis in your party at all times and she has Bufudyne and Garudyne.
2) A boss killer. This Persona should ideally have a single-target spell, as well as the respective Boost and Amp skill. Spell Master is a nice bonus. Mind Charge is useless because in P3, it only has a 2x modifier.
3) A second boss killer in case the previous one's element doesn't work. T
4) A Megidolaon user. Megidolaon is actually useful in P3. Ideally it should have Spell Master but this Persona doesn't actually need a whole lot of stuff attached to it. Actually, you can probably just attach Megidolaon to one of two boss killers.
5) Support/Healing. Honestly, you really only need Salvation and Samarecarm and you can easily attach these to any of the previous three Personas.
As you can see, you don't even need five Personas. One nice skill to have is Swift Strike, which hits like a truck while having a low cost. Pralaya is also nice, but it's locked to Shiva which can't be fused until level 82. The thing about Persona 3 is that it's not really that difficult to optimize a Persona. Mind Charge and Power Charge are useless skills and most passives don't matter that much. And while I did emphasize Megidolaon, Erebus does resist Almighty so it's probably not as important as I made it out to be. Contrast to Nyx Avatar, which despite its stat screen not stating it, does receive reduced damage from all attributes EXCEPT Almighty.
Metis was designed to alleviate much of the burden off of Aigis, as the only real purpose she has is to act as an offensive all-rounder. She's not GREAT at anything, but she's a relatively practical unit.
Taking all this into account, you really don't need a Compendium for The Answer.
If you're emulating you might as well play the original version cause it's just better than FES, like every single nu-sona that gets an "enhanced" version.

Not really. It holds up well enough despite some of the bosses being bullshit. I ran into some emulation bugs with slowdown happening when certain enemy types would show up lategame, but that was about five years ago and PCSX2 has probably been updated past that by now. The slowdown was infrequent enough to just be a minor annoyance. If you're a dubgay like me, you'll probably vastly prefer the old VA, too.

Tartarus alone can't sustain a game. The thing about P3 is that its dungeons and social sim elements are relatively half-baked. P3's novelty lied in the fact that it combined both these elements into one package, but if you leave one out, you're left with either mediocre dungeons or a mediocre social sim. The Abyss of Time is literally Tartarus.
Persona games require a shitton of voice work in exchange for relatively small pay. I doubt most VAs are particularly ecstatic to return to it. There was almost no way any of the EN voice cast was gonna raise a fuss.

Nah. I doubt they would have had a difficult time running P4 on the Vita. The issue lies more in the fact that the Vita is a handheld device and shoving a bunch of fog everywhere with blurry visuals isn't ideal on a smaller screen. Generally, when it comes to handhelds, there used to be a strong inclination to make the visuals as clear as possible in order to prevent eye strain. Japan in particular is especially anal about this shit; before every children's program, there's always a warning telling kids to watch in a well-lit room and a far enough distance from the screen.
It was probably to take advantage of the OLED screen of the vita, but having everything be more vibrant, despite the fact that fog is kind of important to the game.
I remember an anon saying that the fog in the PS2 version relied on PS2-specific hardware, and that it wasn't easy to copy on the Vita, which is why it got nixed. Dunno why the power lines were removed.
This is forgivable because it was a Vita port. Unfortunately, because that Vita port had more features than the original PS2 game, it was the best candidate for a PC port.
fog is a pretty essential element of Persona 4, though I've only played the original so I don't know how it's handled for the other areas of this game in golden

Well there are two sides to that. Fact is The Answer was always pretty divisive to begin with, and even now, its impact on the fandom isn't all that high. You could probably argue that the number of people who genuinely care about The Answer are probably negligible. It's a utilitarian perspective, but most people tend not to care about those not in their direct line of sight.

Players who only played Portable and were mostly casual in their interest without much interaction with the fandom, or those who just never played P3 at all aren't really gonna be in that category. The more versions of Persona 3 there are that don't feature The Answer, and this includes stuff like the films, the less important The Answer becomes. There are probably a very large number of people who've played Persona 5 who don't even know what The Answer is. And over time, the ones who genuinely care about The Answer are gonna become more and more of a minority. And minorities don't really matter a lot of the time. Which is a harsh way to look at it, but again, how often do people care about those not in their direct line of sight?

No. It's very much focused on Aigis, but her development was primarily in The Journey. The Answer is more of how everyone is handling their grief, and how they overcome it. It gives them the opportunity to come to a true resolution, letting them all walk their separate ways but still remain lifelong comrades.
To put it into perspective, think about 4's anime when the IT is fighting Mitsuo. We get a what-if scenario of what happens when the case is resolved. With the only thing tying the cast together now over, everyone is slowly drifting apart. Even in terms of the games, we're not sure what will happen to the cast should Yu leave forever, or the adventures just stop.

I think that characterization was brought out through the supplementary material. At best you can make him act like a loner who doesn't care. For the femc she is more so cheerful in her responses, but it seems like the writers were trying to portray her in an opposite manner. As one who masks their dread with an upbeat and positive personality.
His hair covers one of his eyes and some of his dialogue choices can be dickish so a lot of people see him as a sad emo loner. It's just his most prominent universal image.
Supplementary material generally has him fairly amicable. Nearly all his video game characterization (PQ, P3D) comes from the drama CDs where he's not a loner at all.

The Answer really only needs five Personas at most:
1) One Persona for attacking weaknesses. This Persona doesn't really need anything more than basic single-target elemental skills. You don't really need it to have EVERY element either, as you will likely keep Metis in your party at all times and she has Bufudyne and Garudyne.
2) A boss killer. This Persona should ideally have a single-target spell, as well as the respective Boost and Amp skill. Spell Master is a nice bonus. Mind Charge is useless because in P3, it only has a 2x modifier.
3) A second boss killer in case the previous one's element doesn't work. T
4) A Megidolaon user. Megidolaon is actually useful in P3. Ideally it should have Spell Master but this Persona doesn't actually need a whole lot of stuff attached to it. Actually, you can probably just attach Megidolaon to one of two boss killers.
5) Support/Healing. Honestly, you really only need Salvation and Samarecarm and you can easily attach these to any of the previous three Personas.
As you can see, you don't even need five Personas. One nice skill to have is Swift Strike, which hits like a truck while having a low cost. Pralaya is also nice, but it's locked to Shiva which can't be fused until level 82. The thing about Persona 3 is that it's not really that difficult to optimize a Persona. Mind Charge and Power Charge are useless skills and most passives don't matter that much. And while I did emphasize Megidolaon, Erebus does resist Almighty so it's probably not as important as I made it out to be. Contrast to Nyx Avatar, which despite its stat screen not stating it, does receive reduced damage from all attributes EXCEPT Almighty.
Metis was designed to alleviate much of the burden off of Aigis, as the only real purpose she has is to act as an offensive all-rounder. She's not GREAT at anything, but she's a relatively practical unit.
Taking all this into account, you really don't need a Compendium for The Answer.

Not really. It holds up well enough despite some of the bosses being bullshit. I ran into some emulation bugs with slowdown happening when certain enemy types would show up lategame, but that was about five years ago and PCSX2 has probably been updated past that by now. The slowdown was infrequent enough to just be a minor annoyance. If you're a dubgay like me, you'll probably vastly prefer the old VA, too.

The more I look at it, the more displeased I am. Persona 3 had a much darker tone to it compared to the other Persona games (4 & 5) that the PS2's emotion engine could deliver. In the remake though, the colors are just to bright and the characters pop out a bit to much making them a bit rigid in my opinion. Still on the fence about it.

Tartarus alone can't sustain a game. The thing about P3 is that its dungeons and social sim elements are relatively half-baked. P3's novelty lied in the fact that it combined both these elements into one package, but if you leave one out, you're left with either mediocre dungeons or a mediocre social sim. Nah. I doubt they would have had a difficult time running P4 on the Vita. The issue lies more in the fact that the Vita is a handheld device and shoving a bunch of fog everywhere with blurry visuals isn't ideal on a smaller screen. Generally, when it comes to handhelds, there used to be a strong inclination to make the visuals as clear as possible in order to prevent eye strain. Japan in particular is especially anal about this shit; before every children's program, there's always a warning telling kids to watch in a well-lit room and a far enough distance from the screen.
It was probably to take advantage of the OLED screen of the vita, but having everything be more vibrant, despite the fact that fog is kind of important to the game.
I remember an anon saying that the fog in the PS2 version relied on PS2-specific hardware, and that it wasn't easy to copy on the Vita, which is why it got nixed. Dunno why the power lines were removed.
This is forgivable because it was a Vita port. Unfortunately, because that Vita port had more features than the original PS2 game, it was the best candidate for a PC port.

From a financial standpoint, I'd imagine that cutting it was the smart thing to do. Money's everything after all. The only reason Atlus would ever consider adding The Answer into the base game for no extra cost would be purely out of a sense of altruism. And we know Atlus has nothing resembling such a thing.

Of people who wanted a remake, most of them wanted a definitive version, including The Answer among other things. A lot of people who didn't even like the Answer wanted it included just because excluding content is shitty (or more rarely because they wanted it to get a chance to be improved).
Maybe, but I feel like the number of people who actively wanted a remake are probably relatively low to begin with. Players who only played Portable and were mostly casual in their interest without much interaction with the fandom, or those who just never played P3 at all aren't really gonna be in that category. The more versions of Persona 3 there are that don't feature The Answer, and this includes stuff like the films, the less important The Answer becomes. There are probably a very large number of people who've played Persona 5 who don't even know what The Answer is. And over time, the ones who genuinely care about The Answer are gonna become more and more of a minority. And minorities don't really matter a lot of the time. Which is a harsh way to look at it, but again, how often do people care about those not in their direct line of sight?

However, let him die by the end on the campaign so it fits with the themes established, his fate is sealed anyway due to him taking those drugs.
