Am I not allowed to have an aghs? I mean we're already in a silly scenario in which I'm apparently going to try and solo kill someone with a bkb, you should at least give me some advantage.

ok i had my first death at 27 minutes.
i would say lich needs sheep aghs scepter and shard to solo kill carries. i play lich when i'm grinding role queue most of the time so i have a good idea of how to beat even lifestealer his personal nemesis.
Seems a bit impractical...
What I liked about Techies is the sheer versatility you had when playing him because he never fit into one specific role. My favorite thing to do was buy an early TP as soon as possible and just go mine up the side shop before the enemies even got to their lanes.
What role is his new skillset supposed to fill?
Hes more of a nuker now, but you can still setup mines in trees or on highground to catch people, it only takes a few mines to kill someone now that they reduce magic resistance. He can also be a complete Black person in lane as he harasses you down from a safe distance then suicides onto you
I guess I can see that working even if it's not the same.
The real question is, are they fun? Is it a gimmick to pick them over other, more popular nukers?

techies is how I knew the game tries it's hardest to force 50 way back in the day, no matter how much of an early lead you gave your team no matter how much you extended the game for your cores to farm I couldn't beat 70% winrate over 200 games
too bad it's an openai psyop now
Smite used to have its own general and it started dying so they decided to make a general that was all the games made by Hi-Rez studio (which the only other popular one was Paladins) and the general still died lmao.
Do you get banned if you use a mod to remove all the cosmetics? This shit is getting to the point where its just a complete cancer and you can't tell the difference between some of the heroes, not to mention all the janky graphical infidelity on a game where you are supposed to be able to identify at a glance what is happening.
I am stuck at Herald III, no matter the winning or losing streaks, I am still stuck there.
How can I change that? I already know I am a shitter, otherwise I wouldn't be there
How can I improve? I play pos3 Sand King, Abaddon pos4 Venge and pos5 Warlock.
the number one thing you can do to improve is think about where the enemies are most likely to be when looking at the minimap. create a mental map of where it's dangerous to be based on the information you have. and try to stay away from the dangerous areas unless you are a very escapeable hero or you have multiple teammates with you.
what this will do is lower your total number of deaths which is the single best thing you can do outside of like, raising your last hit ability.
What should I do in lanes where last hitting is almost impossible, like Abaddon versus sniper, in which sniper can harass from distance popping the shield while being babysit by his support if I threaten him?
certain lanes will be creepscore losses like you describe. sniper in general is guaranteed to deny a frickload of stuff if you play against him mid which is my predominant role. against sniper you can pick a hero that can wave clear quickly before he can deny the creeps (idk, tide or centaur with anchor smash/double edge?). but if you are playing a hero like abbadon with no quick wave clear you can try pulling the closest jungle creep camp (the hard camp if you're offlane abba) to your lane creeps as they are passing nearby and try to get some exp/gold that way. you should prepare to suffer a little bit, your team should be understanding that you will be a bit behind on items and game impact because you got shut down in lane. it is what it is. eke out what you can using pulling.

said. Back when I played dota I would typically watch the minimap more than I would watch the lane, and I'd constantly be thinking 'okay, two enemies are visible, that means three enemies are anywhere in HERE' while I looked at the fog of war. It'll make you a lot more cautious.

Delay the tower dying by as much as possible, farm later. Or just do the chad move and tp to the other lane without telling anyone what you're doing and just play in that lane from then on.
Play more heroes so you can fit into drafts better.
Get better at micro positioning
Get better at macro movements & timings
Get better at itemization
Focus objectives, not kills
Play more hours
Play with better players.
Way bigger focus on freedom, hero roles aren't enforced and it's overall more dynamic.
Spells are less spammable (more mana cost), there is less reliance on skill shots but spells are generally more impactful/dangerous IE even on the early game if you're out of position you can easily eat a stun or two and die very fast.
Towers don't protect you, you protect towers.
Comebacks and turnarounds are more common.
Every few years the gameplay gets huge shakeups; examples from previous years include talents, neutral items, significant map changes, aghanim shards..
More layers of strategy with things like power spikes (a hero can be great in the early game but fall off late game so you gotta try to win before that), item timings, reliance on counter picks.
Winning requires a bigger focus on the macro-game (bigger picture) than on the micro-game.
Heroes have a turn rate, this can make movement feel sluggish to LoL players, but it keeps ranged caries in check.
Camera feels more zoomed in so you have to pay attention to your minimap more.
The game in general has more mechanical depth and complexity.
not that anon but no if you are willing to learn and enjoy the journey of getting better every game its not hard to get into shit even if you just play to not get better look at heralds they dont even know how to press buttons right and they still love the game its the most unique game on the planet to play currently till deadlock is out
Dota made int heroes garbage.
HON had better gameplay, response time, balance (early on with core heroes and a few additions) especially with INT heroes.
Dota lets you get away with all Str/Agi and replace int heroes with Str based support or Agility semi-carry.
what's a little frost among friends?
*CONFUSED ROAR'
LICH GONNA HAVE YOUR MANA
Momma.
I'll take a crack addict!
I love this lil bastard almost makes me want to reinstall
only thing that's gonna make me install is an official arena mode like in smite

Meat in battle!
*presses bkb in the time it takes for you to cast chain frost on ice dick or on me*
what now?
*cancel chain frost cast animation and blink away*
*waits to see the chain frost projectile before pressing bkb*
not a counter
If you waited then I caught you in my sinister gaze
which you can't cast chain frost during without an aghs scepter.

blink aghs aghs shard lich is some of the most fun you can have on a support.
>Not playing DotA Allstars in WC3
Noobs
I quit when they changed Techies' an hero. Are they any good now?
The new aghs is pretty fun, its basiclly makes an area where everyone inside is ruptured, damn fun to watch a lifestealer kill himself on it
I think it sucks ass, it's fun conceptually but pretty much only works below 3k.
Seems a bit impractical...

He's a nuker and still has some strong area denial if you're against heroes that can't spam summons or illusions to clear your mines.
I go arcanes > octarine core then either aether or kaya typically and just spam the frick out of my mines everywhere.
>t.5k mmr
I guess I can see that working even if it's not the same.

anyone have a link to those YouTube poop videos? Like the one where lich says FROZEN POOP BONER
Most of them were taken down.
Yeah some anon had re-uploaded them somewhere else but I foolishly didn't bookmark or download them.
I've got a few on my PC.
In the mean time, the Kino.

How come LoL or Smite never gets big threads for their games? It's either Dota 2 or HotS.
no personality
Smite used to have its own general and it started dying so they decided to make a general that was all the games made by Hi-Rez studio (which the only other popular one was Paladins) and the general still died lmao.
smite thread is on /vm/, lol is on /vg/
the containment boards exist for a reason
The top-down view that launched a thousand aeons of strife...
If Dota ever had a rifleman hero that could put down barricades baka

I just saw a Night Stalker in game that looked like a fairy

Unless you're safelane in which it's good to let your tower die fast so you can safely farm by your t2
if you're safelane and their offlaner is fricking you like that it doesn't matter what you do cause you lost

WTF
Stick to pos 4/5 and just play marci hit Bkb timing and it's a free win
How is this game compared to LoL? I started playing a few months ago and was curious about this as well.
