How the frick do you even get viruses nowadays? I've disabled all protection on my laptop since day one and always download my games from rutracker and plugins/VSTs from sketchy sites and have never gotten a single virus in all my time owning it. I'm convinced they stopped making them all together at this point.
If you're on Windows, you definitely have a virus. If you are on Linux then GEE I FRICKING WONDER. Getting a virus really isn't that big of a deal anyways as long as you do banking and other secure stuff on a separate device than the once you're pirating from.
Most malware is created by people looking for money and there's barely any profit in bricking some literally who's machine and holding it for ransom, the people looking for money target governments, hospitals, hotels and shit, and the ones aimed at the every day gamer are just hidden shit that runs in the background mining personal information to sell to companies and advertisers
Plus most of the big pirating sites actually do have some semblance of quality control and moderation now, malware gets taken down and if you're still worried sites like virustotal are pretty faithful.
