You're lying, games can often be fricked on emulators, at the very least around their launch period. I remember trying to emulate bayonetta 3 when it was new and it had constant crashes and horrendous audio desync in the cutscenes, it turned me off of switch emulation forever and i dont know if they ever fixed it. On my hacked switch i can install the nsp and it works as intended, no problems. Doesnt have the best performance but its stable
Of course theres also playing online, you might say crap like "nintendo online is shit anyway" but certain games like splatoon absolutely need online for the complete experience

        Anonymous

no they dont. You have to tweak stuff and hope that other people had your same problem and posted the solution. Then there's specific problems with your own PC like having anything AMD. Now, it does work almost all the time but I'd rather buy a Switch and have it work all the time

          ???
TotK worked right out of the box for me, Same with Metroid Prime, and every M2 ported Shmup I've played also "just werked".
I've literally never had to frick with settings out side of cranking up the render resolution.

            Anonymous

            >TotK worked right out of the box for me
Quit lying. It worked like 80% of the time.

I pirated it as soon as it was up (10 days before it officially released). Early on, it had a nasty habit of crashing randomly. I had to get into the habit making manual saves after every major/minor milestone, or risk losing hours of progress. And forget about exploring The Depths. The textures down there were flatout broken.

Both the crashing and The Depths issues have been fixed since then, BUT GOD. It made playing TotK early a lot more annoying than it needed to be.

I don't even know what you mean. It legit never crashed for me with Yuzu EA builds. I'm on Linux even so I'm using the less supported release on top of that.
              >The Depths
Maybe I didn't get that far? I never saw any obvious texture issues. Honestly, I got bored of TotK and bailed to play more modded Morrowind and Diablo 2.

                Anonymous

It was crashing frequently in ryujinx when yuzu couldn't even run the game yet, though it was fixed pretty quickly (I think solved within 1-2 days of the game leaking and added to mainline another day or two after). No crashes in ryujinx past that point, but yuzu EA always leaked to 100% memory usage and crashed with 32gb every time I tried it for totk.
                >Depths
They straight-up didn't render for the first week or so, and the specific combo of windows+AMD+ryujinx had the gloom DoT effect not match the textures for another week or two past that

Bayonetta 3 and Astral Chain are heavily dependent on ASTC textures. I heard the games even run at 4K natively. I know jackshit about programming though.

      Anonymous

Bayonetta 3 is one of the few games on the switch that's incredibly difficult to emulate be it on yuzu or ryujinx.

99.5% of everything else works pretty much ok though. It's only Bayonetta 3 and Astral chain that have issues. I'm not sure why B3 has difficulty running because it's not that much of a difference from Bayonetta 2 and that runs flawlessly.

I can play totk 2 weeks after release yet bayonetta 3 still crashes my deck on the first level

If they wanted my money they would make sure the legal version of their releases wasn't a worse experience than pirating it, either by making piracy difficult or by releasing their games on hardware that isn't a pile of shit. I buy every game I play on PC, for example, so it's not like I'm unwilling to pay for the shit I play.

You'd be surprised how long it takes for Reddit mods to take down piracy related stuff, in that it often takes them YEARS. Because of that Reddit ironically is a great spot to find releases and help on such things.
But post a wrong think? Hunted down and banned ASAP.

The less people that use crackwatch the better since it lowers it's chance of running in to trouble.
            >literally a free wordpress site is all you need to be banproof
I don't think you appreciate how easy it is to submit DMCA notices and spook a host provider. Is the host protected under section 230 of the Communication Decency act? Yes. Do they still crumple under DMCA notices? Regularly.

Fact of the matter is most morons like to host with entities like GoDaddy and DreamHost, and are surprised when their shit gets taken down and their account closed.

It emulates surprisingly well all things considering since the emulator for it (xenea) has only had a few years of real deal development. But is still fairly buggy with a lot of titles, especially regarding accessing storage (system storage for saves, etc).
That is totally broken for most Cave games on the 360 for example.

I've been playing it lately on Ryujinx, it runs fine but there's a game-breaking crash during the Mysterio bossfight that prevents progression both on Vulkan and OpenGL.
Yuzu runs the game much worse but doesn't crash during that bossfight, so if you really want to play it then do it on Ryujinx, when you get to that fight move your save to Yuzu, beat it there, then bring your save back to Ryujinx.

It can be two things. I buy games as a collector but I also understand they are good investments. When you have money, you can buy things you don't need.

                >When you have money, you can buy things you don't need.
I understand that theres quite a few people who have more than enough expendable income to the point where they can drop a lot without a care in the world. Personally I've never liked that type of spending. I make good money but will still not bother to spend money on things I don't agree with even I want the product. An example being I don't buy games with denuvo even if I want the game. Do I have the money to buy said game, yes, but I like to consider what I imply with my purchase. This is one of the reasons I pirate. Yes, you can make an argument that I'm selfish because I don't want to enable shitty practices but I want the product regardless. I won't attempt to refute this because its true.

Those games are worth more now than they were then. It's a simple investment. I've got a Pokemon game that's worth $4000. I bought it new for $50.

I wouldn't if I had a guarantee the next system would be backwards compatible. Having my Wii and Wii U digital libraries become worthless made me rethink how I want to support games. At least emulation lets me keep my library and save progress going forward. I'll buy a Switch 2 if Nintendo can get off their asses and prove they care about letting us keep our libraries.

I played link's awakening using the mods this guy said and liked it well enough. The bosses were significantly easier the the dx version though

link's awakening with the no dof mod and 60 fps mod. As well as the mod that replaces the hylian shield with an older looking shield.

I also am still playing through engage and I love it.

1.) It's too difficult for most people to set up.
2.) tendy's LOVE nintendo and consider playing on a superior platform to be harmful to their favorite corporation. They could even buy the game and dump it themselves but they would still consider it a betrayal of Nintendo - this would also require them to learn how to dump roms.
And don't fall for the "I play on handheld" excuse that some anons are saying. Most people are playing their Zelda on a tv.

Most people can't play emulators on their tvs. Not all of us love being hunched in front of a computer. "Superior"? In what way? Specs? Wowie zowie. Really don't care.

I remember the days when youtubers were saying (and this is a direct quote (from my memory)) "there's no way sony can emulate the ps3 and sell the games, it's just too difficult!" And yet here we are. It's beautiful.

what do you mean. Did sony add some sort of backwards compatibility to the ps5? Do you mean pc emulating the ps3?

        Anonymous

Amateur developers can emulate the ps3 just fine. Sony with their R&D teams can probably make it work much better. But back then in like 2011 the genuine belief of some journalists was, "this is impossible, it will never happen."

Well Sony probably still can't, they're pretty shit when it comes to emulators. Couldn't even figure out how to configure PCSX-ReARMed for their PS Classic.

Maybe you're right, but I don't have the knowledge to tell.

There are PS2 games running off an emulator designed for PS4 that have gamebreaking visual glitches when played on a PS5. It would be a stretch to say there's "no way" but they don't seem to give much of a shit beyond PSP and PS1 emulation at the moment.
