This game here shows why every design team should have a user experience designer, there's too much nonsense "gameplay mechanics" over-riding the default basic kart gameplay. As a matter of fact, even ONE of those mechanics by themselves + kart gameplay would be fun

If you want a serious answer, the majority of the time people get ring stung it's because they boost when they don't need to and constantly let themselves run out in the middle of the pack. They want ring sting removed to make up for their lack of restraint.

All of those are skill issues have plenty of ways to maintain rings and you have a defensive option you can use that is actually very good

Every time I try to join a server I lose connection within the first two minutes. Anyone know how to fix this? I already tried making an exception for the game in Windows Defender and lowering my MTU to 1400. I'm using Ethernet too.

The stage prior involved jumping between steep slopes with spikes on the wall above, if you haven't already broken the UFO by that point, give up, because there's no way you get a good shot with the jawz they give you, and you need your rings to stay on the slopes between the boost panels anyway.

Most of them were, but the devs threw them all in at once and put their own "spin" on them (made them worse)
The tutorial makes racing look more complicated than it actually is. The melee attack is seldom used, the only switches to hit are secrets, Gachaboms aren't found in race, and trick panels aren't very common. If anything, it's battle mode that's the incomprehensible mess.

That's not where the shrine is, the room is for a different secret. I remember seeing it under the water in the middle.
like the other guy said the shrine isn't up there, but if you want to get up there you need to fastfall so that you bounce off the roof and over the fence

I'm just chewing through the GPs for now. They're certainly going. Not particularly going for unlocks as yet, but I think that's when I'll either come to appreciate the game much more or much less.
So far, I don't hate rings as a mechanic as much as I expected. So long as you can keep a bit of distance from other racers and know where the hazards are, you aren't constantly scrambling to avoid ring debt. I wish the game weren't so aggressive about cheating to make sure you CAN'T keep distance, and I think the stuns are overtuned, it's not the end of the world though.
Position isn't always bad per se but it takes too much time for very little benefit to the racing that follows, especially compared to the tried and true boost start. Item balance is kinda fricked since you really want the ability to use rings for a quick boost and thus most items are well-served being dumped ASAP.
And seriously, what's up with the physics? It feels like your kart barely has an engine in it most of the time. You lose speed way too quickly in almost every context. Gravity is wildly more powerful than your kart on almost any incline, and using rings helps but this feels like a cheap bolted-on solution to a problem that was made up in the first place. Handling is really bad when combined with all of these factors, and the amount of speed drifting bleeds off.
I'm still willing to let it all play out between patches and mods (I pray), and I have some faith. So it's not all bad. Just kinda rough for now.

in regards to secrets, it's a mix. playercolors is just found in maps even in freeplay with no cpus so they're easy to just get, especially since there's not enough spray cans for every map in the game so if one's a particular b***h you can just skip that map.
some of the secrets are moronic though. I especially hate the GP ones that require you to do one specific thing on one specific map, sometimes as sone specific character, and during a GP so you have to contend with the rival bs and if you miss it? restart the entire GP. Whisper is an egregious example, you have to go through the entire sneaker cup just to get to Whithered Chataeu, don't go offroad once, and get first. And if you touch offroad once or get second? Restart the entire GP, btw it's the last track in the cup
Colors I was a little worried about, but knowing I neither have to actually win the attempt I grab them- or even finish it- is comforting, thanks. Proper secrets being shitty is a BIT worrying but that sounds like it might be cheese-able with restartlevel? Perhaps? Oh god, does "offroad" mean leaves? It better not fricking mean leaves.
I've been getting my A-ranks, yeah. There's the occasional C for tracks that I just cannot fricking fathom how I'm meant to stay ahead on like Mirage Saloon but I've gotten all the chaos emeralds so far.

If you have extra lives, you can just restart the map from the menu if you touch offroad, I know because I did it.

Not really. There are spray cans hidden on every map, but they're instantly unlocked as soon as you touch them. There's also some hidden shrines for extra unlockables, but again, the challenge is just finding them.
However, getting enough A ranks in a cup is important for a certain bit of bonus content.

The more I play this game, the more I understand it wants to be the Dark Souls of Kart Games.
It punishes even the smallest mistakes heavily (touch energy beam? Hitstop and pushback) and the larger mistakes cripplingly (miss the track? Two seconds falling offstage, two seconds respawning, one second held up, lose rings, lose time not boosting), but forgets the crux of super punishing games: they are not hard.
This one on the other hand, you're fighting dodgy physics and cheated rivals trying to lure in a feeling of clutch that never comes.
Actually they were inspired by fighting games (particularly Smash), which isn't a good outlook either.
