Not really? I've never understood anyone who goes and praises Genshin's combat system, it's relatively basic and really isn't skilled based. The game ultimately failed because it was a Nintendo game. Which is ironic because you'd normally think of collaborating with Nintendo as a big win. Cygames couldn't do cross promotion like they usually do. Nintendo refused to market it or feature it in their own collaborations or even lend their own IPs for crossovers besides Fire Emblem. Most the people hearing the game died had no idea it existed or that it was a Nintendo game. I thought Nintendo was backing out of gacha and mobile but it turns out they're making a joint venture with DeNA instead of Cygames.
The real thing I want to know is why people want more Genshin's of all things. It's like they have never seen "WoWkillers" like a decade or two ago and how almost all of them failed in like the first year.
people want the production values, genshin impact and most other gachas ask for a similar amount of money, but genshin looks like a real game and not a weird archaic mess like granblue fantasy.

I quit the game about a year ago, and being honest. I think if I knew the game only had a year left in its lifespan I don’t think I’d have quit playing.
Since quitting I’ve moved my focus over to FGO and Touhou Lost Word, so thats where my focus shall remain.
For anyone wondering “where do I go now”, it is my honest suggestion that you try out FGO. It won’t be everyones cup of tea but from my experience its not as bad as people make it out to be. You can also still do pretty damn well as a F2P as most low rarity servants are actually viable and hell some like Arash are servants people highly suggest you use in teams.

The third writter was a bit of a clusterfrick but he did a better job than what I expected with the hand he was given. The Reborn shit was just moronic though and the constant Gala shilling was annoying, there was no reason to do that and I could have genuinely enjoyed those chapters, because there were really good moments like the Agito assaulting the throne, Valyx being given agency and motivations, Leonidas stepping up and dealing with Alberias problems while not losing his goals to get rid of the Dragon's control, the Main Cast's development against the Agito, all of that was good ideas on paper but due to the needless Gala shilling all it remained was a sour taste.
The entire second half of the story was shilling, that's why it will never come out on Söywitch because the story was contrived garbage meant to sell gacha units to dumb children and nintentrannies rather than actually tell a meaningful story.
I'd lie to myself if I didn't start laughing my ass off when "WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE GALA ***** SAVED THE DAY" became a reoccurring trope
My favourite one is Gala Mascula. Literally came out of nowhere, kills a bunch of androids that also came out of nowhere, and then never appeared once, for the entire rest of the story. I’m so glad they dedicated half a story chapter to this.
But the story was there though. They can simply remove the shilling of units from the chapters, or make the reborns and voids part of the story. It's not completely unsalvageable by any means.

Gachas that are too good to the playerbase won't be allowed to exist.
There were plenty of gameplay issues that prevented the game from being perfect, but the lack of predatory design is what really killed the game off.
the game was making millions. it just wasn't making enough millions to satisfy the greed of nintendo corporate execs.
has very little to do with nintendo imo. cyberagent's president very much threw the game under the bus for the entire corporation's poor financial performance a few years ago even though their streaming platform which was supposed to be their version of netflix at the time was under performing (a fact he completely glossed over) i don't buy the "nintendo wouldnt let cygames monetize the game the way they wanted" when the mtx prices were really really poor. it really wasnt worth it to buy raw diamantium. the monthly packs and even some of the special packs they did for things like new years were insanely overpriced too (100 dollars to get some diamantium and a weapon, which ended up becoming free the next year lol) dragalia is even one of the few games i've played where you can outright buy power progression through the packs that doubled rewards and whatnot. it feels to me like cygames monetized the game exactly how they wanted, since the game had all the other stupid shit their other games typically do.

our sparking was a weird bastardized version.
in gbf, when you spark on a gala or a flash, you can spark any of those respective units
here, if you sparked, it was featured or nothing. meaning if you got to pull 299 and got the featured, pull 300 was worthless if there was no gala dragon you needed. and you had a nearly 90% chance of getting a featured on average before 300. so it helped 10% of players from omega unlucky sprees which was good, but at the same time, okada reduced our free pulls by like 40%.

Pretty much, we were getting an average of 360 rolls per month before spark, kind of insane to think about for a game that only demands you to roll for a unit once
Singleplayer clears being an afterthought for nearly 2 years was insane, because it meant you only needed 1 character per element (for co-op), and one dragon per element as long as you were competent.
Solution was probably more endgame raids that require you to bring in 4 loadouts.

if you would use an android device it probably could, i think the main issue with using an iOS device with any custom server is that installing a modified game to connect to it would be a bigger issue on iOS than android

Would love for it to be a straight up RPG adventure game, but sadly I don't know how you'd tie in all the Gatcha characters since many of them didn't play a role in the main story.
They could just actually tie a bunch of characters endings in a full fledged game with different regions and shit. It's not that complicated to implement everyone in theory, but it would take a hell of a lot of work to make it turn out well and for every character to at least have a piece of story content.
If they took their time doing it I could see it making an impact and going main stream too but I doubt they would invest in the world of dragalia the necessary care it needs to not become a failure again (from a story standpoint).
For the gameplay of a full fledged RPG they should just hire people that are actually competent at doing it instead of directors that like OKD and MTR who don't know what balance is.
Arguably converting what already exists into a full pledged game wouldn't be even remotely hard to do, but it would require more assets, like for example making the World Tree into a full pledged dungeon rather than small segments, same for the Castle and whatnot
At least the game stayed shit until the end. Can't complain about it not being consistent.
Hopefully CyGays buys it fully from Nintendo down the line.

Bad Marketing, action RPG when Japs enjoy low effort gachas that don't require their attention (especially artists), P2W wasn't an automatic solution to clear content because you had to be good (you can see the revenue jumping whenever there was serious powercreep like Ieyasu or Gala Cleo), wyrmite flood around FE event and removal of wyrmprints made it take a huge blow revenue-wise over time, lack of better diamantium deals after said wyrmite flood making the diamantium value plunge vastly as well as the items in the packs that became obtainable over time, general debacle on whether to cater to casuals or tryhards ultimately resulting in content that sits in the middle
And believe it or not a game with "huge backing" can easily fall flat with bad enough marketing and the only one I've seen make a comeback out of this was Blue Archive.

Quite the opposite, nobody tried to do another ARPG since Shironeko for 4 years because it was a niche market, and as it turns out, when Shironeko tried to release in the West it EoS'd. What did come out was "Colopl Rune Story", a bizarre alternate reality version of the game sabotaged by Colopl Ni, the western branch of Colopl headed by some chonkasu homosexual, who is still failing to this day by focusing on moronic NFTs. All the stories and fun content in Rune Story were massively censored if not cut out entirely, and events and characters were completely butchered and redesigned for "western audiences" (the worst possible market to pander to) into ugly 3D models to imitate some other game that was popular at the time (the name of it escapes me atm.) The game crashed constantly and hackers were also rampant. Then they wasted a ton of money trying to revert everything to how it should have been in the first place but soon gave up when they realized how much effort it would be and decided to just cut their losses. It was yet another case of an OKD-tier moronbrain exec thinking they could cut corners and strip all the fun out of a game in the global release and then wonder why no one is playing their shitty bastardized game. Honestly, I prefer Priconne. I got tired of Dragalia's troony co-op that always disbanded on you for not being meta, and grinding 10 billions hours until my phone literally (still!) has game menus burned onto it from having to leave it on wasn't worth it for fights that were only fun to do a couple times at most a week.
Much prefer the focus of characters that Priconne has.
As I recall hearing, after Arc 1, the writer quit and was replaced, and that's why the story direction went totally different afterwards. As far as I'm aware, a lot of Priconne losing popularity is moreso because of Uma slurping up that same niche of cute anime girls

Like here's the bare minimum I think Nintendo could have done.
1 - Release in all countries. Obviously you can just download the apk for google play, but its a bigger pain in the ass to bypass regional crap with IOS.
2 - Some sort of regular subscription. Gold Pass for Mario Kart Tour works, it works so well they put it in Fire Emblem Heroes. $5 a month, maybe some extra endeavors or a quick and dirty battle pass system, and you have a bonus source of revenue.
3 - Advertising/side projects. Like frick, hire some anime company to do a tie-in anime. Or if thats too expensive just do a manga regularly. GBF does this shit all the time and it sells because they have codes for sunstones/ingots/skins.
I will say that cygames dropped the ball year 1 hard on their end, but after year 1 it was all Nintendo's fault.

So if they wanted to port this to switch or switch now that its an "all in one complete product" and not a constantly updated f2p game, they'd have to
-Fix it for widescreen. 2d story art would need to be extended, all the backgrounds for the visual novel/cutscene stuff extended, the few 3d cutscenes, etc
-New UI and all of that jazz. Not a huge deal but it takes effort.
-Potentially put all the gacha stuff into endeavors. Like Galas you can dump into the main storyline, event stuff/banners you can dump into their corresponding events, etc.
-Maybe if they have some budget leftover, they can put the agitos into the game as playables for beating them on x difficulty or unlocking all their weapons ala GBF. 4 characters and 5~ more dragons (dragons includes primordials we didn't get too) wouldn't break the bank.
-Probably sell the Persona and Monster Hunter stuff as a DLC. Like how SMT Nocturne had to sell Dante separately after.
-One more 2.0 style update to balance most characters in line with eachother.
And if they do all that, they can sell the game digitally for like $30 with a $60 collectors edition with some random crap and included DLC, and also get a test of whether or not its worth working on the series again.

Unironically some of the worst content in the game because if you didn't grind a finished weapon of the right one on day one within the first few hours you were basically locked out of the content if you didn't have an organised team. I did all of them bar one the second day of release and the dark one on release. Literally all of them was more painful getting competent hdt pubs to do the shit. So long as you had the right units you could get into hdts and find teams that could work that didn't take too long. You can have all the right things but because you didn't have the completed weapon you never had enough party power to get into agito raids that weren't filled with the worst players imaginable. It took hours to get fricking successful runs. Hdts you could get competent players agito filtered you out of all of them.

getting into htd was hell due to the stupid might gates people would set, getting my first ehmc clear took fricking weeks even with a maxed t1 weapon
agito, at least for expert and under, were easy to get into and beat for me and might gates where never that much of a problem
HDT was difficult because you needed the print to avoid being oneshot by the opener. Nothing was telegraphed so you needed to have memorized the fight before even attempting it. And there was no quick retry option which they added later so every time you wiped it was back to the room after everyone died before you could go again.
I know what the high dragon trials were like, I was there for them.
I do remember pub rooms skyrocketing in might requirement very soon after weapons were available; but it was attainable, especially since you could start the weapon with what you got from the low difficulties.

Not revenue, but our free gibs income. Our pulls income were slashed by -70% after spark was introduced. It eventually stabilized to only around -40%, but it's already too late by then.

1:After sparking was added we started getting considerably less currency and summon tickets as rewards in events, lots of people played the game because it would give a ton of free rolls every month so they just dropped it after that.
2: Sparking was not that great because it required 300 summons and didn't carry over banners. The game always had a pity system so it was very unlikely that you wouldn't get what you want before hitting 300. Getting the unit after you already did a ton of rolls meant either wasting the spark currency you accumulated or rolling until 300 and getting something else you didn't want all that much, so there was no reason to pull in any banner that wasn't seasonal or Gala because at least you could spark a limited unit in these.
I rolled close to 700-800 times for Mitsuhide on her first banner and flat out did not get her.

This is a load of shit. The game pity system was dogshit and impacted your rates very insignificantly. It was super common to easily go over 300 to get something or not get it at all. The spark system was way better than the shitty pity system. The spark system didn't really have any issues and it's way better than me throwing in 500-800 rolls to not get what I want at all. Less rolls wasn't that big of a deal when you can easily guarantee more than multiple things a year even with the decreased roll count.
Pretty sure they game had a big list of issues that killed revenue over adding in sparking. The games end-game content killed more revenue and playerbase than sparking ever did for example

At some point they called it the Dark Souls of mobage.
Most of it was raid-style bosses, and they were quite hard during the first and second years. The battles were multiplayer only (there was a solo mode, but it was near impossible due to bad programming), so depending on your team it varied from satisfyingly difficult to excruciatingly painful. Most of the times it was the latter because up until EoS there was ZERO communication in pubs: there was no voip and not even chat so you couldn't set up another app to do voip for you. There was a specific rotation of course, easy to memorize too, but pubs would've been significantly better if there was ANY way to communicate other than fricking stickers.
And you needed to do these fights 40-50 times, all to collect mats so you can make a weapon to do them faster.

Come year 3 it became just that. They were dumbed-down significantly or outright nerfed and now you could solo them. Considering that mobage are designed specifically for 3-5 mins white-collar-worker-commuting/long trips, this was ideal. Except that powercreep and specific team combinations made them even easier, and with the revamp of auto-mode, why bother even playing? Of course there still was hard content. But it became tedious rather than hard due to mechanics. And pretty much every character but a handful got locked out of it due to said mechanics.
In the end, Dragalia Lost's biggest crime was that it was an actual GAME rather than just a jpg collector.

Why are you dishonestly detracting them from the fundamental issues. Dragalia was hard, just tedious, not the same thing. The Dark Souls thing was a /drag/ thing to hype it up. At least Dragalia's grind gave you mats for every clear, so you could work steadily towards a goal. Granblue's grind can have you doing hundreds of the same raid just for 1 copy of a weapon, and then you need to get 4 more, and then you need to have the mats to uncap it a 5th time if it has one, and then some weapons also have an option for some awakening thing.
GBF weapon grind isn't comparable to drag grind. GBF weapon grinding is always for easy content that you can quickly mass clear for rewards. You can easily do hundreds of a raid in a single hour. The comparable gbf content is the hard raids like faa hl and the like. You only need to successfully do these like once to 5 times to get all the mats you need from them for a single weapon. You generally only need 6 weapons if you need something for all elements and after that you are finished with the content unless you want either rare rewards (gold bars) or you want to change skills or whatever on the weapon. The game only starts requesting large grind from these raids when they are no longer considered hard and something you can mass clear.
Drag expects very very high amount of grind for single weapons and said grind was also intensive and hands on. Dragalia also has a large amount of weapons you want to craft for each raid for each element. Drag was easily one of the grindiest games in the industry
All the dumb zoomers on reddit and twitter are actually turning me off from the legacy of this game.

JP server Flower Knight Girl was THE f2p friendly gacha garbage for the longest time. Not really sure what its current state is (since I dropped it years ago) but if the devs still give away SSRs on streams as well as other bonuses like it did before I left then it should still be the benchmark. MGCM is a lot less generous compared to FKG but at least the gameplay is fun-ish.

It died because it tried to be something it was not; a real game that tried to be a gacha. The main goal for a gacha is not to make the game fun, but to milk the most money out of you as possible and this game failed at that. I don't need to lay out the multiple points of failure since they were repeated in /drag/ threads for years. If it had released as a real game then Dragalia Lost wouldn't have met it's miserable fate into obscurity and death. This is the only correct opinion and anything else is headcanon and cope.

There's two people working on two servers and sharing their progress publically on a discord, plus they have been testing it with users in the chat.
It seems to be coming along well, nintendo has no chance of "shutting it down" unless they actually go with some sort of public and populated "dragalialostreborn.com" sort of shit which I highly doubt. Otherwise this is something that's run locally using a reverse engineer of the server and using the game files you have to get elsewhere. Hard to shut down.

I fixed both Infernal Crash and Light a Fire, but don't fret if they seem longer than the YT versions. I prefer not to alter the tracks if possible to maintain their integrity. I only combined phase 1 and 2 of Infernal Crash together and found an extended track of Light a Fire that contained all the parts. Let me know if you have suggestions.

I vetted through and added more datamined illustrations, all datamined BGM, skill animation previews, summon showcases, dragalia digests, cygames creator book (dragalia), the mini art book included with the DRAGALIA LOST SOUND COLLECTION, etc.
I'm still redoing the fan album. Trying to mix the songs properly is frustrating work when some are made up of a dozen separate parts and you're trying to judge when the song would end without it looping. There's also making sure it all flows together nicely without it sounding choppy. I'm just an amateur but I'm doing the best I can.
