Demons in Dragon Age are bastards and WILL take advantage of you.
Blood magic is pretty based but most who use it sacrifice dead babies and innocent people to make the player feel bad.

Judging by the literal blood orgy that happened in the Circle Tower they have no reservations over posessing Templars either even though they're the kryptonite of the mage/demon existence. Hell they were even taking over Tranquil.
How come the PC never does that? Blood mage stuff kicks ass in both DAO and DA2 but the hero never sacrifices anyone. No one even remarks about the hero using blood magic.
There is a quest in Dragon Age 2 where you can sacrifice a bunch of elf slaves to buff you permanently but I don't think it has much of an impact in how people perceive you.
Gotta replay this game. It wasn’t THAT bad, but frick I remember they really made mages the bad guys in this one.
Considering they were making an expansion only for EA to say "You have to make it a full game now" without any extra time when they had 9 months yet it could have been a lot worse.

As someone who played mage in all three Dragon Age games, the Chantry is 100% right. Unsupervised mages turn to posession or blood magic 100% of the time

it was around that time when bioware execs started forcing devs to "broaden their markets". if you play DA:O then DA2 or Mass Effect 1 then play 2 you'll notice such stark contrasts. Things seem cheaper, rushed, more console friendly.
