How does it feels? Being in the same generation that unironically marked the start of the true downfall of Pokémon?

It means homosexual fairies will never be considered strong regardless of how many hand-outs they get to appease LGBTBBQs

I think at some point they tried to make Diantha a Fairy champion, but they backed out at the last minute and gave her this garbage team.

She’s obviously the strongest, but who is the second strongest Fairy? (Ok, third; no Flutter Mane please)

Im going to ignore competitive make the "Bidoof is strong because it is useful as a HMSlave" campaign argument and say Sylveon because since its introduction it (/Eevee) has been increasingly trivial to get, Pixilate covered the flaw of Fairy having few moves it had early on by just making Normal moves into Fairy moves and it gets a frickton of merch and presence in general. Like i remember back when XY released everyone were basically using Sylveon as their designated "try new toy" Fairy the first couple of days.

      >Doubles
Since Flutter Mane covers the role of being the team Fairy so often, the others see less use, but I believe Grimmsnarl, Hatterene, Primarina and Sylveon all compete for the second spot.
      >Singles
Absolutely Magearna, but if you want a non-uber, it's one of these:
      >Iron Valiant
      Legendary in all but name.
      >Enamorus
      Actual Legendary
      >Clefable
The most consistently great but not broken Fairy.
      >Hatterene
Depends more on the meta than Clefable, but is considered more viable at the moment

Wasn't the Fairy type created because Dragons were so OP?

Only because they had the highest average stats. This is inflated by Legendaries and these frickers though.
The type itself is just kind of neutral.

GameFreak is creatively bankrupt. Metagross is still the best pseudo all these years later just because it's the only one that isn't a dragon type or reptilian.

It was specifically Outrage and every psuedo having it that made dragon type so OP. Dragon types in that list mostly have a very generous attack stat to abuse STAB Outrage. Also, Outrage has 120 base power and 100% accuracy with a PP of 10 and is locked in for 2-3 turns AND the only drawback is getting confused, which is easily mitigated by a held berry or saying "frick it, we ball" and clicking Outrage again. I believe it was Garchomp, Haxorus, and Hydreigon back-to-back having access to Outrage that made GF put their foot down. Especially Haxorus. If the dragon type had more Cyclizars and Drampas and Flygons, with less legendaries and/or mythicals, we could've averted the fairy type timeline entirely. Either that or delete any dragon type move above 90 bp from existence

The funny of course being that Fairies didn't actually do that much for Outrage since them Nulling it means it doesn't confuse the user and the Dragon is just free to pick another move or switch itself out. Fairy may been created to counter Dragon but honestly i'd say it shat much harder on Fighting and Dark then on Dragon overall.

I have to agree with this, especially when it was new. I remember multiple times getting pissed that fighting type moves no longer worked on former normal types, and the overlap of psychic/fairy made me just as upset when Crunch did neutral damage and a dazzling whatsit oneshot in return. Nobody uses poison or steel types offensively, what the FRICK was Gamefreak smoking?

I like to frame it as Fighting types being unwilling to fight Fairies because they’re too chivalrous. It’s easier to tolerate that way

I found fighting type back in gen 5 much more of a problem than dragons. Also holy frick can we please get another psuedo that isn't Dragon type? Its been over 15 years now since Metagross.
