I don't blame you anyway. Grigori is probably one of the only two or three enemies in the game who resists it.
My thought process was that because he is a servant of the Seneschal/God, he is subservient to holy magic. I knew he was either weak or resistant to it. I gambled and lost. Luckily he's not too difficult of a fight anyway.
Playing from level 1 on hard mode, I honestly just didn't have the energy or patience. Caved and used 250k of my 1.8 mil at level 50 to just one-shot Grigori with tentaclehentai arrow. Regretted it right after, but oh well.
it's as simple as showing a pawn that a move has effective damage/dps
I spam Cymbal Onslaught, the pawn does so with a rusted shield even though they'd do way more damage using their sword to Dragon's Maw
the only thing to worry about is giving your pawn impossible stats, that gets it banned and it won't show up for other people. Nothing else is checked at all as far as I know.

So what's even the point of the cycle, just to prevent the Seneschal and Dragon from getting too bored? Killing the dragon somewhat shows that calamity will reign without their presence (assuming the darkening of Gransys isn't yet another tool used to motivate the Arisen), but both the Dragon and Seneschal can persist for ages and the world otherwise doesn't decay.
seneschal holds the whole show together, but grows to loathe his job (the french quote at the beginning) so the cycle exists to provide him with an heir.
The Seneschal shows you that literally you and all literal NPCs are just pawns that he makes. He has been doing it for an eternity to keep the world going with his will power but he can't do it forever and the world is getting consumed by apathy and the brine.
So he sends the most powerful being, the Dragon and uses him to tempt and forge heroes out of the NPCs until eventually you are strong enough to kill him and replace him.
This cycle has gone on countless times and the dragon behind Ur-Daimon hints that after Seneschal's die, the move on to the Crucible of Souls where they meet Ur-Daimon for some purpose.
I interpreted it as the seneschal being a battery that powers existence through pure willpower. So they'd need a replacement every now and then when they get tried of eternity and start losing their will to continue. We don't see the world decaying but it may have just not reached that point yet.
There’s no point to it, it’s simply how existence works in the world of DD. There is something instead of nothing just because, same as the real world. The French quote they open the game with alludes to this, something about the novel delights of a useless occupation. There isn’t a meaning or reason for why things are the way they are, so it’s up to you to give your life meaning and reason with your own will. And if you have enough willpower you will get coerced into becoming a new will battery for all of creation by the previous battery who just wants to die already.

Special pawns were pawns created by Capcom themselves who would often follow some sort of theme (eg. holy knight, fiery demon, edgy witch, etc. with the appearance, gear, and skills to match). Just like the Berserk stuff, they were only a thing back on the PS3 and the 360. The later versions of DD didn't bring them back.
Shouldn't it just get censored? There's tons of ***** pawns on the rift. The moniker is supposed to be displayed to people playing with parental control on which I don't even know where you set that.
Favorited for future hiring. Get rid of arm strength and dexterity since they only work on terrain, not enemies, endurance gives you 100 extra stamina when you already have 1975 for a total of 2075, I've never seen pawns run out of stamina outside of spell spamming so I'd get rid of grit too, master thief and acquisitor would probably turn other people away but I'd say that's up to preference. I hope I can hire her soon and see how that works. There's two augments that increase strength and one that increases basic attacks' damage if you don't mind leveling up other vocations.

I went full offensive for full damage, with some minor support through the holy weapon buff. Do send me some recommendation on improving the loadout so she can be more flexible and reliable, so she can help her master Grimm!

Voidspell is the only way to cure some instadeath debuffs, and Miasma is one of the fastest casting spells in the game as well as being a very nice AoE to boot. Consider swapping Emphasis for Impact, it effects more stuff so it's more reliable, and if you don't have two Barbed Nails equipped, you should fix that. Otherwise, the weapon buff (I usually just leave that to hired mage support pawns myself) and rest of the spells are really up to you. Just avoid Maelstrom, for a player, it's a great spell, for a pawn it's a pain in the ass that does nothing but shit up the screen so you can't see.
I personally avoid spells that take forever to cast on pawns (that's why I just play Sorc myself), because pawns are skittish, and will cancel spells the second an enemy looks at them. Long casting spells are much harder for the AI to actually pull off for this reason.
Sounds reasonable, will progress the story a bit so I can see the upgrades more. Is Miasma as good as they say? I heard it’s good but only if you have high magick and yellow vocation so it will further rocket its damage
the pawn vendor in the encampment sells an item called Secret of Metamorphosis (or something the like) for 10k RC, which lets you edit yourself and the main pawn in the main menu
Haven't had the chance to tweak useless skills out and whatnot but she has the magnanimous cloak, so she'll heal you and your party if you give her curatives

Iola has some nice looking stuff. The Fine Cassardi underwear is both aesthetic and surprisingly good at higher dragonforging for something you can buy right out of the gate.
Doing the death pawn cheese with a pawn might be a little tricky. You can just do it solo and then just kill low level mobs for an hour to make your pawn catch up with your level. The game scales the xp that way so your pawn doesn't lag behind too hard.

He also offer you to make you the lord of the land if you simply sacrifice your beloved and walk away (it's what the duke did, and why he had that bout of madness when he tried to choke the princess. His pawn was his beloved). So my own interpretation is that the destruction you see is how Gransys was at the exact moment the duke took up the offer years earlier. Plus the land also open up the Everfall no matter what, so you can confront the senecal.

I liked the idea that Feste was his pawn and turned human and went all squirrely when he took the deal, and that explains why the Duke keeps him around. He's got a real backstory in the lore though, even if it's not in the game directly, so that's basically impossible.
Also if you take the dragon's deal your pawn isn't in the ending cutscene so maybe they just frick off at that point, since it's the end of your journey

The Duke keeps a fricking jester around because they provide some sort of funny in the dark and dreary dukedom. Oh and also because Japan doesn't really understand medieval jesters. A lot of the game is "western medieval fantasy through the lens of japan", which is why some people just inexplicably talk with french accents.

oh I have. I used to kind of explain it away that like, every game always has things lost in the concept stage. That's just how making games goes. We just focus a lot on Dragon's Dogma because we have good documentation on a lot of it, whereas for other games we don't. For example, Dragon's Dogma has a GREAT design works book so you get to see all the neat ideas that got lost along the way (that tend to be posted a lot in DD threads like the idea for madeleine to have different attire for different climates).
But I guess seeing all the ambition of the devs it does become a bit sad that Dragon's Dogma got rushed out, and that's why people are so excited for DD2 because they might have the time to do it properly now. Not to say DD is a bad game, people love it. But it could have been so much more.
Top recommend for the design works, for any Dragon's Dogma fan.
Think we'll end up seeing a trailer this year, TGS/VGA or is the announcement proof enough that there's still a bit of development needed and see something next?
there's been arguments about this in the threads before, I believe we can establish the start of the project back in 2019 but with COVID god knows how much development they actually got done. If we don't see anything new this year, then its best to dig deep into the trenches and get comfortable because it'll be a while before the game comes out.

It likely would have been mid 2019 at earliest, due to DMC5. That work before Covid could just have been pre-production stuff too. Actual development might not have gotten underway way into 2020. Lets assume three years, one year fricked over by Covid and that was basically just concept art and story, some RE Engine testing. About two years of proper dev. Itsuno is likely going to go all out with this one, to make the dream game he wanted to make with the first. Also Capcom might see Elden Ring's success and will make DD2 bigger. The leaks said Q2 2022 but things happen even without Covid, so we can assume Q2 2023 at the earliest. I'd rather Christmas time 2023 because it will be a bit of a b***h to run in hot weather.

Necromancer vocation doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me if all you're doing is summoning skeletons while you already have pawns who basically act as summons, but as a solo vocation it could get benefits like assassin does with certain augments to balance it out otherwise it would be too OP. Also the beastmaster could work the same way, as a vocation where you get benefits from going solo (no pawns) with your (one) wolf or bear, nothing too crazy like a Chimera.

There's also a soldier on the inside that you can hear celebrating while you fight the wieneratrice. He is presumably the salvation member that revived it once it was brought into the city as a trophy. Its a funny meta-justification why Gransys is relatively empty of people but full of monsters and bandits. Gransys is a fricking shithole and the rest of the world KNOWS it. It's only important because a Dragonslayer is the Duke there and the Dragon has come back, so every other country has a vested interest in killing the Dragon so it doesn't frick their shit up as well.
And the Duke hasn't actually done that much in his 50 year reign to fix matters, in my opinion it's probably a function of apathy and self-hatred. Even though the Duke claws onto his power, it's also a cage for him. He has to live, for eternity he assumes, with the knowledge he left himself and his beloved down and all he has is this gilded cage called Gran Soren. And over the decades the gilding starts to fall off.

I have a level 32 tall brown mage if you want. Don't send any gifts since I stopped playing (it was my third character or something) but she has all the quests knowledge maxed out for some reason, so might come in handy.

Don't give them weapons/skills you don't want them to use, also you probably fricked with their augments or inclinations or they don't have the correct knowledge for that specific engagement.
Honestly this is what's driving me mad in BBI. It's fine in the base game because monsters aren't that big or dangerous but when fighting a gorelops or an undead dragon they keep insist on charging in to melee before channeling as a sorcerer while the ranger just paces back and forth next to me not shooting.
They're so focused on being helpful that they're not useful.

Warrior pawns are indeed kinda shitty, unfortunately, while fighter pawns are better at dishing out damage and surviving thanks to perfect blocks. Maybe more people swear on strider pawns, but one of my favorite and most effective pawns was a ranger, so I'm biased here.

Mage pawns are a newbie trap and made completely irrelevant by simply carrying some curatives. Sorcerer can obliterate even some of the strongest enemies in the game, not always useful but will carry you surprisingly often
Warrior can be good at knocking down and staggering enemies but has to be well equipped to do so, and it becomes less effective further into the game
Mage pawns are useful for the first dozen couple levels, but after a certain point you're going to have several metric tons of greenwaish and harspud so it doesn't really make sense not to go all in on magic DPS with sorcerer.
So do you have to be on point with your dodges to fight the teleporting dog in BBI? Its 1 shotting me while the other boss monsters seem fairly manageable. I'm not sure if this is a fight I can take at level 50 or if he's like Death that you sort of just escape as part of the experience.
Garms are notoriously difficult enemies that cause terror and confusion to any new to the wild ride that is BBI. It's manageable, but don't think you need to take every fight.
Garm? Their charged bite has some of the highest one shot damage in the game. You can cheese them in a few ways, for example they aren't great at dealing with enemies on slightly elevated platforms.

There are long and heated discussion about how pawns actually learn. Some think doing the things yourself is the best way, others think there is nothing indicating that the pawn actually learns from your actions and its instead entirely pawn knowledge. But it can be easier to add that knowledge by doing the thing yourself.
Another advantage is that you can share gear with your pawn and make upgrades more worthwhile. Furthermore, it's the "intended and loreful" choice to share vocations with your pawn.
Because much like in real life, you spend all of your time shamefully cooming while thinking about them but barely ever even talk to or interact with them you fricking sperg.

Actual height is, as far as I can tell, completely irrelevant but lower weight does make you faster
Even if you have the same encumbrance (like, very light), being heavier yourself makes you slower
Sprint speed is based on sex and torso type, with the skinnier torsos usually sprinting faster than the bulkier ones. Walk/jog speed is based on height. Assassins and characters with Leg-Strength move slightly faster at each encumbrance tier than other characters.

when a pawn uses it and charges you, you can actively go after the enemies that the spell is strong against, climb near their weak spot, and maximize its usefulness. the damage output of fulmination is honestly insane

High Fulmination does absurd damage and is useful against almost every boss monster
High Bolide hasn't been super useful, but with Ogre Bones, safety augments, and properly aggroing enemies away from her, she's able to pull it off very consistently. it helps against some annoying enemies
High Miasma charges very fast and deals surprisingly high damage if you have a strong staff. useful against both normal and boss enemies
High Voidspell is there just so I have to use less panaceas
I'm considering Gicel / High Gicel but haven't tested it yet. I prefer not to bloat the spell pool with less useful stuff so I'm just using those 4. I know Maelstorm is strong but I'd rather be able to see the game I'm playing
My pawn has been almost entirely physical so far, but when I hire sorc pawns I try to avoid ones with more than maybe one really long cast spell. Other than that, I look for a good affinity (fire or holy) and fairly quick cast spells that cover the elemental weaknesses (levin, comestion, gicel, fulmination)
I play red vocations mainly. If I were playing blue ones I'd want to hire other sorcs with bigger spells so we could spell sync
this isn't a game that suits minmaxers, as has been stated one million fricking times. your stats are nearly worthless when weighed against the gear you get along the way. the augments you can acquire by swapping classes WILL surpass the pitiful stat growths you get wasting 100 levels as a fricking warrior when you want to play a ranger.

and even then i feel a mystic knight going 10-200 warrior vs 10-200 sorcerer would still feel a difference in damage with their sword skills/spells
You could also just equip the asura armor and ring of perseverance and kill the gran soren guards post-game to get the vocation to rank 9 before you level up a single time

Target the corrupted pawn sorcs first, then the sirens. Use the connecting rooms as funnels to block access from bigger enemies and force smaller ones to approach you from one direction.

before Dark Arisen just talking to be people raised their affection and you talk to Caxton a ton to buy and upgrade gear.
I think buying stuff from them increased it even more.
Also completing the idol quest gives a lot of affinity if you give them the gold idol
When you max affinity with more than one person, it chose who you last spoke to. So say you maxed your affinity with the queen, but then at any point purchased gear after that...

My thought process was that because he is a servant of the Seneschal/God, he is subservient to holy magic. I knew he was either weak or resistant to it. I gambled and lost. Luckily he's not too difficult of a fight anyway.
Playing from level 1 on hard mode, I honestly just didn't have the energy or patience. Caved and used 250k of my 1.8 mil at level 50 to just one-shot Grigori with tentaclehentai arrow. Regretted it right after, but oh well.

There are several but it's mostly for the badge of vows quests.
So what's even the point of the cycle, just to prevent the Seneschal and Dragon from getting too bored? Killing the dragon somewhat shows that calamity will reign without their presence (assuming the darkening of Gransys isn't yet another tool used to motivate the Arisen), but both the Dragon and Seneschal can persist for ages and the world otherwise doesn't decay.
seneschal holds the whole show together, but grows to loathe his job (the french quote at the beginning) so the cycle exists to provide him with an heir.
The Seneschal shows you that literally you and all literal NPCs are just pawns that he makes. He has been doing it for an eternity to keep the world going with his will power but he can't do it forever and the world is getting consumed by apathy and the brine.
So he sends the most powerful being, the Dragon and uses him to tempt and forge heroes out of the NPCs until eventually you are strong enough to kill him and replace him.
This cycle has gone on countless times and the dragon behind Ur-Daimon hints that after Seneschal's die, the move on to the Crucible of Souls where they meet Ur-Daimon for some purpose.
I interpreted it as the seneschal being a battery that powers existence through pure willpower. So they'd need a replacement every now and then when they get tried of eternity and start losing their will to continue. We don't see the world decaying but it may have just not reached that point yet.
There’s no point to it, it’s simply how existence works in the world of DD. There is something instead of nothing just because, same as the real world. The French quote they open the game with alludes to this, something about the novel delights of a useless occupation. There isn’t a meaning or reason for why things are the way they are, so it’s up to you to give your life meaning and reason with your own will. And if you have enough willpower you will get coerced into becoming a new will battery for all of creation by the previous battery who just wants to die already.

You need the pawn's level last time they rested, and it helps that the owner rests just before you go to search as they will be bumped to the top of the list. Easiest to filter by their vocation and gender also. Sometimes you have to refresh the list a lot if there are a lot of pawns in that level. It would've been nice if you could search by pawn name or username.

I've never even seen that.
Special pawns were pawns created by Capcom themselves who would often follow some sort of theme (eg. holy knight, fiery demon, edgy witch, etc. with the appearance, gear, and skills to match). Just like the Berserk stuff, they were only a thing back on the PS3 and the 360. The later versions of DD didn't bring them back.

Favorited for future hiring. Get rid of arm strength and dexterity since they only work on terrain, not enemies, endurance gives you 100 extra stamina when you already have 1975 for a total of 2075, I've never seen pawns run out of stamina outside of spell spamming so I'd get rid of grit too, master thief and acquisitor would probably turn other people away but I'd say that's up to preference. I hope I can hire her soon and see how that works. There's two augments that increase strength and one that increases basic attacks' damage if you don't mind leveling up other vocations.

Voidspell is the only way to cure some instadeath debuffs, and Miasma is one of the fastest casting spells in the game as well as being a very nice AoE to boot. Consider swapping Emphasis for Impact, it effects more stuff so it's more reliable, and if you don't have two Barbed Nails equipped, you should fix that. Otherwise, the weapon buff (I usually just leave that to hired mage support pawns myself) and rest of the spells are really up to you. Just avoid Maelstrom, for a player, it's a great spell, for a pawn it's a pain in the ass that does nothing but shit up the screen so you can't see.
I personally avoid spells that take forever to cast on pawns (that's why I just play Sorc myself), because pawns are skittish, and will cancel spells the second an enemy looks at them. Long casting spells are much harder for the AI to actually pull off for this reason.
Sounds reasonable, will progress the story a bit so I can see the upgrades more. Is Miasma as good as they say? I heard it’s good but only if you have high magick and yellow vocation so it will further rocket its damage

Doing the death pawn cheese with a pawn might be a little tricky. You can just do it solo and then just kill low level mobs for an hour to make your pawn catch up with your level. The game scales the xp that way so your pawn doesn't lag behind too hard.

Well, Grigori fricks shit up as you see with Cassardis. He also offer you to make you the lord of the land if you simply sacrifice your beloved and walk away (it's what the duke did, and why he had that bout of madness when he tried to choke the princess. His pawn was his beloved). So my own interpretation is that the destruction you see is how Gransys was at the exact moment the duke took up the offer years earlier. Plus the land also open up the Everfall no matter what, so you can confront the senecal.

I liked the idea that Feste was his pawn and turned human and went all squirrely when he took the deal, and that explains why the Duke keeps him around. He's got a real backstory in the lore though, even if it's not in the game directly, so that's basically impossible.

It always surprises me how ambitious Dragon's Dogma is in some ways, they put a lot of thought into things you can just skip over with nary a thought in the world. I hope DD2 lets them do it properly and be appreciated for it this time.
You haven't seen the old world maps early in the development? We missed out on a fricking lot, and still got a fantastic game in the end.
oh I have. I used to kind of explain it away that like, every game always has things lost in the concept stage. That's just how making games goes. We just focus a lot on Dragon's Dogma because we have good documentation on a lot of it, whereas for other games we don't. For example, Dragon's Dogma has a GREAT design works book so you get to see all the neat ideas that got lost along the way (that tend to be posted a lot in DD threads like the idea for madeleine to have different attire for different climates).
But I guess seeing all the ambition of the devs it does become a bit sad that Dragon's Dogma got rushed out, and that's why people are so excited for DD2 because they might have the time to do it properly now. Not to say DD is a bad game, people love it. But it could have been so much more.

there's been arguments about this in the threads before, I believe we can establish the start of the project back in 2019 but with COVID god knows how much development they actually got done. If we don't see anything new this year, then its best to dig deep into the trenches and get comfortable because it'll be a while before the game comes out.
It likely would have been mid 2019 at earliest, due to DMC5. That work before Covid could just have been pre-production stuff too. Actual development might not have gotten underway way into 2020. Lets assume three years, one year fricked over by Covid and that was basically just concept art and story, some RE Engine testing. About two years of proper dev. Itsuno is likely going to go all out with this one, to make the dream game he wanted to make with the first. Also Capcom might see Elden Ring's success and will make DD2 bigger. The leaks said Q2 2022 but things happen even without Covid, so we can assume Q2 2023 at the earliest. I'd rather Christmas time 2023 because it will be a bit of a b***h to run in hot weather.

Necromancer vocation doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me if all you're doing is summoning skeletons while you already have pawns who basically act as summons, but as a solo vocation it could get benefits like assassin does with certain augments to balance it out otherwise it would be too OP. Also the beastmaster could work the same way, as a vocation where you get benefits from going solo (no pawns) with your (one) wolf or bear, nothing too crazy like a Chimera.

There's also a soldier on the inside that you can hear celebrating while you fight the wieneratrice. He is presumably the salvation member that revived it once it was brought into the city as a trophy. Although there are even more members on the inside because there was also someone who knocked out Aldous.
Julien was in charge of supplying windbluff and had enough sway over its personnel to fill it with salvation loyalists. He was quite influential.

And he's infamous enough for spying on the duke and duchess that, despite Aelinore only having been there for literal days, she already acts like its a common occurrence for him to be listening in during the quest where you sneak into her room.

Its a funny meta-justification why Gransys is relatively empty of people but full of monsters and bandits. Gransys is a fricking shithole and the rest of the world KNOWS it. And the Duke hasn't actually done that much in his 50 year reign to fix matters, in my opinion it's probably a function of apathy and self-hatred. Even though the Duke claws onto his power, it's also a cage for him. He has to live, for eternity he assumes, with the knowledge he left himself and his beloved down and all he has is this gilded cage called Gran Soren. And over the decades the gilding starts to fall off.

It's fine in the base game because monsters aren't that big or dangerous but when fighting a gorelops or an undead dragon they keep insist on charging in to melee before channeling as a sorcerer while the ranger just paces back and forth next to me not shooting.
They're so focused on being helpful that they're not useful.

Is it just me or are Strider pawns better than Ranger pawns, and Fighter pawns better than Warrior pawns?
Warrior pawns are indeed kinda shitty, unfortunately, while fighter pawns are better at dishing out damage and surviving thanks to perfect blocks. Maybe more people swear on strider pawns, but one of my favorite and most effective pawns was a ranger, so I'm biased here.

Mage pawns are a newbie trap and made completely irrelevant by simply carrying some curatives. Sorcerer can obliterate even some of the strongest enemies in the game, not always useful but will carry you surprisingly often
Warrior can be good at knocking down and staggering enemies but has to be well equipped to do so, and it becomes less effective further into the game
Sorcerers are more powerful the more you have due to spell sync. One is bad, two is an endless barrage of death, three is a warcrime.

Mage pawns are useful for the first dozen couple levels, but after a certain point you're going to have several metric tons of greenwaish and harspud so it doesn't really make sense not to go all in on magic DPS with sorcerer.
So do you have to be on point with your dodges to fight the teleporting dog in BBI? Its 1 shotting me while the other boss monsters seem fairly manageable. I'm not sure if this is a fight I can take at level 50 or if he's like Death that you sort of just escape as part of the experience.
Garms are notoriously difficult enemies that cause terror and confusion to any new to the wild ride that is BBI. It's manageable, but don't think you need to take every fight.
Garm? Their charged bite has some of the highest one shot damage in the game. You can cheese them in a few ways, for example they aren't great at dealing with enemies on slightly elevated platforms.

no. the pawns don't learn like that no matter how much people pretend they do. my fighter pawn perfect blocks and uses its attacks properly without me ever playing with sword and shield.
There are long and heated discussion about how pawns actually learn. Some think doing the things yourself is the best way, others think there is nothing indicating that the pawn actually learns from your actions and its instead entirely pawn knowledge. But it can be easier to add that knowledge by doing the thing yourself.
Another advantage is that you can share gear with your pawn and make upgrades more worthwhile. Furthermore, it's the "intended and loreful" choice to share vocations with your pawn.

the taller you are the faster you jog. has no effect on sprint speed as far as I know.
Sprint speed is based on sex and torso type, with the skinnier torsos usually sprinting faster than the bulkier ones. Walk/jog speed is based on height. Assassins and characters with Leg-Strength move slightly faster at each encumbrance tier than other characters.
Mages' usefulness is carried by how shit people make their sorcerer pawns.

the spell is fine if your pawns are sticking close to enemies, but you can't rely on pawns to do anything right
when a pawn uses it and charges you, you can actively go after the enemies that the spell is strong against, climb near their weak spot, and maximize its usefulness. the damage output of fulmination is honestly insane

What are the best spells for pawn sorcerer anyway? I usually look for Seism, Bolide or Fulmination but I don't know if there's a meta of sorts.

comestation can replace bolide but that's pretty much the ticket with gicel. don't put maelstrom unless you're a mage and even then you're cutting 2/3's of the hire pool.

High Fulmination does absurd damage and is useful against almost every boss monster
High Bolide hasn't been super useful, but with Ogre Bones, safety augments, and properly aggroing enemies away from her, she's able to pull it off very consistently. it helps against some annoying enemies
High Miasma charges very fast and deals surprisingly high damage if you have a strong staff. useful against both normal and boss enemies
High Voidspell is there just so I have to use less panaceas
I'm considering Gicel / High Gicel but haven't tested it yet. I prefer not to bloat the spell pool with less useful stuff so I'm just using those 4. I know Maelstorm is strong but I'd rather be able to see the game I'm playing
My pawn has been almost entirely physical so far, but when I hire sorc pawns I try to avoid ones with more than maybe one really long cast spell. Other than that, I look for a good affinity (fire or holy) and fairly quick cast spells that cover the elemental weaknesses (levin, comestion, gicel, fulmination)
I play red vocations mainly. If I were playing blue ones I'd want to hire other sorcs with bigger spells so we could spell sync
When DD2 comes out, I really hope they move to full sliders for character creation

this isn't a game that suits minmaxers, as has been stated one million fricking times. your stats are nearly worthless when weighed against the gear you get along the way. the augments you can acquire by swapping classes WILL surpass the pitiful stat growths you get wasting 100 levels as a fricking warrior when you want to play a ranger.

this assumes you also are aiming for wearing full lvl3 bbi gear on your arisen as soon as you hit 200
and even then i feel a mystic knight going 10-200 warrior vs 10-200 sorcerer would still feel a difference in damage with their sword skills/spells
You could also just equip the asura armor and ring of perseverance and kill the gran soren guards post-game to get the vocation to rank 9 before you level up a single time

Target the corrupted pawn sorcs first, then the sirens. Use the connecting rooms as funnels to block access from bigger enemies and force smaller ones to approach you from one direction.
