The weapon is a sword staff, the distinction being that its literally just a sword with a long handle, meant for slashing, and a spear is a small head on the end of a long handle meant for stabbing, since it wont get stuck in shit as easily due to having a smaller head. A halberd is a combination of spear, axe and hammer specifically, the original name made more sense since it seems to be used as a slashing weapon even if it only had one head.

I'm gonna be honest I don't like how much of the hit effects it's missing compared to the first game, every enemy would at least shake and jitter and there'd be a stop effect as you hit but here the weapons just sort of flatly go through the enemies like a fromsoft game. Everything else looks good and I'm still gonna play, but it's a bit disappointing in that respect.

The hit reactions are even limited to the specific body part you're damaging so there's a feedback for the player to know where they should be hitting. Not a dealbreaker that it doesn't happen anymore but I'm gonna miss it.

you see in gameplay footage they get hit by spells and shit and they don't jitter, shake or react to damage at all

coupled with how weird it looks to just sit on top of enemies I.E a griffin speeding through the world is like sitting or standing on a calm path somewhere

I doubt it'll change much if at all for release, and it will be one of the main criticisms for the game and deservedly so. It looks like absolute shit in the gameplay footage and it will feel even worse when you're actually playing the game. Especially if you're melee.

I doubt they'd do the exact same twist for 2 from 1, but getting to fight myself was a big motivator to play the game through as each vocation. MS and thief paired together for Warfarer is going to be an insanely good combination, using MS for magic damage and to instantly get onto the back of monsters, then switching to thief and grabbing on for mounted attacks. Not sure what the best option is for the 3rd slot though, guess that one mostly depends on what type of role you want to play. Mage to have your own self-buff/healing for a solo player, trickster for pawn buffing for a more well rounded team?

I don't get it, this live did gave them new material with a serious issue and they are not using it, Sara AI completely bugs out after EIKO starts camp while she was opening a chest, she just start teleporting and not attacking. DD1 was the first and only MT open world game and was pretty bugged at release, I hope DD2 won't suffer the same fate.
There's still some time to fix it.
This bug in particular should be a easy fix, but I do expect some bugs at release as All Open world games have but hopefully nothing gamebreaking, the main things to me are exploration and combat and so far it seems to be everything i hoped for a DD2 and more.
Yeah i expect that too, but have no idea how they will limit the player or datamining, maybe a dungeon with a boss fight? a open area would be hard to control, especially on PC.
There's 2 different demo builds, neither of which are full game version, but you can tell even from gameplay there will be bugs etc that will be ironed out in patches.

There won't be a demo. They just showed a bunch of youtubers and journalists a new demo over discord and that's going to be covered next week. Arekkz and IGN are the only ones that got the hands on demos. We tried to get Kyle Bosman but he just started dancing with Itsuno and they never played videogames.
There are secret vocations but the quest lines are really annoying. Itsuno learned a lot from the Monster Hunter team and they're using a spot in the ice area to beta test village development. You'll have to build the entire village and populate it with anti-Disa and anti-Nadina NPCs loyal to the Arisen in order to get one of the secret vocations.
Also, no B'z. Sorry. We got Man With a Mission instead.
