I get people want more surface land to wander and explore, but something like that alone wouldn't be nearly as replayable as a super dungeon like a bigger and better BBI would be. So if I couldn't have both, it's this.

    so how's the game?
does it feel like dd1 but extended? or like an actual second part? is it worth it?

      Anonymous

I honestly don't want DLC. The game just isn't fun. I feel like the combat just isn't as good as the first game. Maybe its just that I'm older but I would need to go back and play dark arisen again to find out of that still feels fun.

It's a side grade in most ways. Combat just plays differently and is better in some ways and worse in others. Physics are great but performance is bad. Characters creation and gear looks great but has lost a lot of flexibility. Probably at least worth trying if you liked the first game and can run it but, as someone who like dark arisen enough to play it three times I have mixed feeling myself.

dark arisen was really good and I expected something similar or higher from dd2, but if I'm getting more dd1 vanilla with some different stuff I think I'll pass

I get the impression it started off as a remake and was changed into a sequel half way through. Some things are added and some things are removed. Also feels like it was released unfinished, just like the first game. There are obvious signs of where they intended to have more content dotted all over the map.
Can't really call it an upgrade or a down grade, it's just another Dragon's Dogma game.

most vocations are a downgrade except for warrior
worse combat overall (clunkier, less responsive controls, more annoying enemy tracking where they lock on you)
      worse OST
barely any new monsters so if you have played DD1 you wont be impressed by anything
its probably alright if you havent played DDDA since release but since i played it less than a year ago i can feel all of the downgrades

In DD1, tusk toss, scarlet kisses and anodyne were not core skills. They were skills you had to equip and lose a slot on.

                Anonymous

And? To get tusk toss by default you lost two other core skills / attack combos. To get anodyne in your base kit you lost melee swings, magic agent, two spell slots and having more than one spell of each of the basic elements. Like sure swift cast is nice and all but you lose out on a lot of shit for it.

Was every fighter honestly full timing tusk toss?

                >To get tusk toss by default you lost two other core skills / attack combos
No, Fighter did really well out of context animations and critical finishers. Skyward Lash, Downcrack and Flesh Skewer were all incorporated into the new system, so between that and Tusk Toss Fighter are almost eating as well as Warriors.

Hard doesnt' mean good, and DD2 is much easier than DD1 or DD:DA. I'll never undertand the autist's empahsis on "difficulty" in games. I guess it's because frequently they don't have any real world accomplishments, and so they assume that grinding through sadistic gameplay is comparable to something with a proper tradeoff of effort and enrichment, like learning a language, getting a degree, having sex, or raising a family. Games are meant to be fun, not grueling. Life (when you don't live in your mom's basement) is already grueling enough.

Also having fewer options doesn't necessarily mean "harder", just more limited. Cookie Clicker isn't a very hard game, but your options are extremely limited. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous has a frickton of options to choose from, yet on Unfair that game will rip your balls off and force feed them to you.

I would have preferred if DD2 provided more options than DD:DA for your class skills. I would have preferred if I had EIGHT active skills at all times, and felt like I absolutely needed every single one wisely or I'd get shit on. that isn't what DD2 delivered, though. Oh well, back to spamming Meteoron I guess.

Sorc is massively improved from DD1. The total number of spells doesn't much matter when inreality 90% of casts are miasma and the magic shotgun buff. Now it actually plays like they clearly wanted it to in the first game, revolving around powerful elemental spells and the odd Bolide or Maelstrom (both much more doable in combat).

              Anonymous

I wouldn't say "massive", but generally it's more focused. I still want more spells back, and it bothers me that they don't get Necromancy, since that would seam in-line with their very offense-oriented spell battery. Like a purely offensive perfersion of Palladium or something, it just would make sense that sorcs would get it.

Also, I still want six spell slots back. Casting Hagol and Meteoron gets boring. Even if the additional slots where extraneous, at least it would give the class some variety.

                Anonymous

Thunder Mine is the new Necromancy, at least in my style of play. It's quick to cast too, so again feels a lot better in practice than Necromancy, which always felt awkward to use.

Yeah I mixed it up with DDDA naming lol
I'm talking mostly about fighting big stuff, Minotaurs and Drakes are just outright deleted by Mael/Meteor/Rico/Spear Laser in comparison to bonking something in the shins/slapping your shield and hoping to not get flattened when you climb

Spearhand's kamehameha isn't even that amazing. It only really hits hard if you manage to hit a weakpoint which is difficult beyond point blank range with how godawful the accuracy is and even then its dps is outdone by the maister skill.

Warrior can definitely dish out the damage, its just the whole you must hit a weak spot as melee with low mobility that's the issue. So its a struggle till you go all into stagger

On the one hand, making each vocation unique rather than having shared weapons and adding certain skills into the base moveset is a good idea. I prefer more unique vocations rather than more vocations with shared movesets.

On the other hand, blue vocations got fricked, the limit to 4 skills hurts some vocations more than others. It completely fricking ruins the point of warfarer for one.

Legit do not understand how this happens to people. When I played warrior it just seemed like super armor was a big frick you to everything except for maybe a drake landing on top of your head. As long as I was charging up a skill or attacking nothing could frick with me.

Warrior gets a native 300 knock down resist, as well as hyper armour while charging and unleashing charge attacks. Fighter and Warfarer get a bit of native knockdown resist (nowhere near as much). Everyone else gets nothing, and will get staggered by basically everything unless they're investing heavy into Dwarven forging.

That's my point. When I was warrior in Battahl I wasn't getting this whole thing about getting stunlocked by anyone so long as I was already in the process of an attack or charging for a skill. And at the time I didn't even have dwarven forged gear, most my shit was vermund for the weight reduction.

What generates this reaction? I honestly don't understand it.

Like, you're tired of hearing it because it's a common complaint. It's a common complaint because MK was a well-liked class, and so removing it feels like an odd move by Capcom. There isn't even a movement towards comprimise in your post, not a "well yeah, but at least with MS now and that's a cool class", no, it's basically just you whining and b***hing that people want something they can't have anymore.

A LOT of people liked MK because it had a unique playstyle and was a powerful class. DD2 Fighter was supposed to be altered to fill in as MK, but it isn't the same because it can't generate its own elemtnal effects on shield or cast area denial spells. DD2 Fighter is very different from DD:DA MK. It's not a proper substitute. The result is that a substantial portion of the community recognizes that their favorite class, and more importantly preferred archetype, was outright REMOVED from the sequel, and it didn't have to be. Capcom could have easily included MK, and nobody really knows why they didn't (though I have a suspicion as to why the didn't).

But yeah, these "move on lol" posts are weird. I can't tell if this sentiment is astroturfing Capcom damage control or just people who are really callous and stupid.

        >removal of mystic knight
I like DD1 way more than 2, but this is the one common complaint that I can't agree with. The class was played as either a fighter that had to sit around casting buffs before every fight, or a sorcerer with none of the spectacle.
Granted Spearhand sucks too since its only defensive tool is a godmode button, but it's at least conceptually more fun

Mystic Knight enjoyers don't care about "fun". It's about larping as a Paladin or Magic Knight type class. Mystic SpearBlack person is cringe and probably would've worked better as a Lancer or Dragoon type class.

MK played right didn't play anything like a fighter at all. In fact, a common complaint from people who didn't understand the class was that it was "just a fighter with elemental damage spells" which it isn't.

As far as a "sorcerer with none of the spectacle", that's certainly a new one. Practically no class matches the Sorcerer for "spectacle", but again, when MK is played right, it isn't anything like a Sorcerer.

          >don't care about "fun"
I have 1,000+ hours on MK alone because to me, it was the most FUN class in DD:DA. Fun is all I care about when I play games, because games are meant to be fun. Without MK, DD:DA would be considerably less FUN for me, which is why DD2 is less FUN for me than DD:DA.

A question for both of you: have either of you played DMC 3? If so, have either of you ever completed a run with Royal Guard? That's the archetype of MK. Take NO damage, become a pillar that controls the battlefield, deflect every attack without breaking a fricking sweat because that's how good your are at predicting enemy movements, and counterattack with something that can literally one shot half the bosses in the game. It's exhilarating when done right, and no other class plays like it. MK is fricking awesome.

Itsuono doesn't have control of every single element of the game. And I included The Witcher as well. It's possible that while Itsuono hasn't played BG3 and didn't use it as inspiration for the overall structure of the game, other people in development have. Even so, it's a gander. My position is generally that DD2 follows a pattern that feels more "western" than DD:DA, with an emphasis on immersion and realism over flash or style. Slower movement, slower combat, weighter controls, stuff like that.

            [...]
You have a dog in the argument, because you felt it warranted to attack a position I posted earlier. It's like coming out of a crowd watching a debate an opening your mouth. You're in it now. So you have to options: continue with your position and actually explain what you mean, or slither off back into the crowd like a coward. This is the problem with anonymous forums --- there isn't sufficient social collaterla thrown up when you butt into something you don't know anything about and open up your mouth.

So here's the idea -- MK was *like* Royal Guard from DMC, in that their archetype is similar. Control the battle through defensive action, store up a counter attack and then deliver it for big damage. It's a class that's all about pacing, timing and control. It might not be as "flashy" as another class, but what makes it interesting is that movement from total restraint to explosiveness. Yes, I understand that RG is obviously a more dynamic class than MK, but DMC 3 is general is a more dynamic game than DD:DA. For the games individual rulesets and tempo, these classes, MK and RG, have similarities in their goals and playstyle. This playstyle is FUN for a lot of people, and it's different from many other playstyles offered in both titles. If RG had been removed from DMC 5, people would have b***hed (for good reason) unless a comparable substitute were added to the game.

So you are highlighting that Mystic Knight is (mostly) all about the elemental parry.
Fighter has timed Deflects in both games. Fighter in 2 got the Elemental blowback added to Deflect, as well as the super guard, meaning it does everything worth a damn that Mystic Knight did. Whatever other things MK did like its buffs and few unique spells, these are things also done by (in 1) or have been ported to Fighter, Magick Archer, Spearhand and Mage.

There is no need for Mystic Knight, it not only has "comparable substitutes" in 2, its Royal Guard role has superior functional representation in 2.

Also, I never used the Perfect Block on Fighter in DD2 because I have a rather sour taste from DD:DA, where I don't think it blocked magic attacks or dragon breath attacks, and could be canceled through stagger. It might be better in DD2, but I wouldn't know. For physical attacks, I just relied on deflect and found Perfect Black to be pretty useless. I'm perfectly willing to accept that this might be a "skill issue". I'm not a Fighter main in DD:DA.

Dissappointing. Feels like the developers wanted something that would capture western audiences and so took more inspiration from things like BG3 or The Witcher than their own beloved product. This is most noticiable with the combat, which is generally slower and clumsier than it was in DD:DA. Their are a few exceptions, like Fighter and arguably Warrior being better than they were in the older games, but nearly every other class ('cept Thief, which is Strider 2.0) was "simplified" and now feels a lot more button-mashy. The other big issue is that this change in direction -- immersion over flash -- would require a well written story and interesting characters, but Capcom is Capcom, and DD2 was apparently rushed out about a year ahead of scheduled release, so the story and characters are absolute trash.

So in the end, it's got a story and characters that are on par with DD:DA (bad) and combat which is at best a sidegrade to the first, depending on your preferences (neutral).

So the game isn't very good. Pawns are cute tho.

            cont.
And it would be viewed as odd if after the hypotheticall removal of RG from DMC 5 without any real explanation or substitute, people started crawling out of the woodwork claiming "lol just get over it", "EUGH stop talking about it and move on autist", or "RG was a niche class and was never any good anyway".

That's my big issue with Ganker's response to this -- it doesn't make sense. Content loved in the original title because it was appealing and unique didn't continue into the sequal. A sequel with longer development time, metrics from over a decade of the previous entry, and a larger budget. No substition or explaination was given after the class was abolished, yet there's a small community who jeer at those who notice this peculiarity. No arguements are usually given, and when they are, it's typically intentionally dismissive, half-baked, or outright erroneous ("it wasn't fun", "nobody played it", "it didn't have enough identity").

Personally, I think the reason MK didn't return is because Itsuono and the developers of DD2 really, REALLY wanted the player to roll with a bunch of pawns. MK and other hybrid classes were viewed as potentially to self-sufficient, and so were axed. If MK had returned, with its trap spells, strong defenses, ability to provide elemental boons to itself, and sword/mace attacks, it would have served as a go-to solo class, and soloing seems to be something the entire game is now designed arround quashing.

Yes, MK is largly about elemental parries. There are exceptions of course, but I think the best description I've ever heard of MK is that it's a caster whose primary weapon is the shield and not the sword.

Fighter in DD2 doesn't cut it for two reasons, 1) it doesn't have the power to self-imbue its shield with elemental effects, which MK could do (less self sufficiency), 2) when a mage pawn does imbue the Fighter's shield, the elemental deflect damage is small scale, wheras MKs elemental parries provided area denial effects and could often hit multiple enemies.

Area denial is the other main focus of MK -- this is scene in Vortex Sigil, Ruinous Sigil, Holy Fortress and to some extent Blizzard Fient, Holy Reposte and Botlstorm Fient (stun from chain lightning). Fighter doesn't have access to anything like this, they're largely oriented around drawing aggro and using their deflect to manipulate the tempo of certain fights. It's similar, but doesn't have the power potential of MK when played optimally. The elemental repostes (which again, require a mage in the party to access) are basically a way for Fighter to acquire bonus damage against single attacking targets, no control areas.

Elemental parries AND area control. Fighter isn't a proper substitute. At best it's a poor one.

                Anonymous

MK is definied by the effect of its skills, which is basically how classes are definied -- what do they DO. The skill provided to MK are oriented around negating damage and area denial, and frequently they're interlocked by the "counter" mechanic -- convert a potential attack against you into area control and damage. I listed a few skills that do this particularly well.

DD2 Fighter is a "tank" class and operates best by drawing aggro and keeping focus away from the backline by dealing physical damage with their sword skills. Deflect is a survival mechanic. Adding an elemental effect isn't the primary way they deal damage, it's bonus damage. Draw aggro, smack the shit outta enemies, swat away enemy attacks, rinse and repeat.

MK is a trapper class. It draws aggro if it wants to, and turns enemy attacks into a playground of absolute frickery for the entire battlefield. When playing an MK well, enemies are going to be stunned, on their ass, frozen solid, or stuck in a cuck funnel for most of the fight. If an MK DOESN'T draw aggro, they have access to spells which punish the enemy for passivity -- Great Cannon, Stone Jungle, and Holy Retribution. Their skills encourage this playstyle. Convert attacks into controlling effects, punish passive enemies with AoEs, control the battlefield.

My argument is that Fighter isn't a sufficient substitute for MK. They have a few similarities, but Fighter doesn't have the area control/denial of MK, which I view as a core feature of MKs value in a party. In other words, I don't think the similarities run deep enough to be satisfied with Fighter filling in for MK.

As far as modding, adding in a class with unique skills, progression, items, etc. would probably be a pretty massive undertaking, and Capcom is fairly hostile to modders. While there isn't any outright indication that this could happen in the future, it's not out of the question that they could just start banhammering anyone with mods from participating in pawn trading in the future. Also, I'm not a programmer. I've tried it before and it's just not for me.

DD1 but extended is a good way to put it. There are changes, some of which are positive, some negative, and some very debatable based on taste. Overall I think it's better than DD1 in most ways, and it certainly has a lot more content. Bear in mind though that when I say DD1, I mean DD1, not DDDA. For me that's a good thing, Dark Arisen and Bitterblack Isle were nice in their own way but it's the base game that had everything I really loved. If you're one of the many people who only liked DD1 after DA, then the game really may not be for you (at least until they release some sort of Dark Arisen 2, I guess).

Pawns get "catch up" xp if there is a level gap between the arisen and the pawn, and it ramps to a pretty ridiculous modifier if the gap is big. So don't worry about you pawn's xp gain, instead put all the xp gain on yourself if you just want to level up fast.

A new area and big dungeon or two to explore with as little story as possible because it's clear they're incapable of making a compelling plot. No, I don't fricking care about the shitty "twists" tying the entire story back to the cycles. Also, remove the sliding on any slightly angled surface.

Focus on fleshing out the Dwarves a bit. There's like only two of them in the game and out of the 3 new races added. They're the ones with the least amount of development when it comes to their culture.
So BBI2, but it's a massive Dwarven hold that goes deep underground.

      >They're the ones with the least amount of development when it comes to their culture.
But that's wrong. They have 1 more cultural tidbit about them than the elves do, even with just only 2 dwarves in the whole game. Dwarves
      >like food for its flavor rather than scent
      >forge things with the use of volcanos
      >hate elves to the point that seeing an elf-dwarf couple is considered weird, yet are not averse to helping elves in need like restoring the health of their sacred tree
      Elves on the other hand
      >use their heart to aim bows rather than actual training and hand-eye coordination
      >worship a tree

10/10, one of the best games I've ever played for sure. Very few complaints and I loved the original, as well. Maxed out every single vocation, unlocked all augments and skills. Will dabble again with strange Warfarer builds.

The region has all the big monsters from Vermund + Medusa , more monster infighting, better rich people house, and (for melee parties) has enemy types that will actually speed up or slow down your encounter with them based on the weapons your party has.

which is a lie, It's the portion of the map with a lot of verticality, secrets and probably the best battles with the difficulty increasing conspicuously and enemies gangbanging with their stun attacks. I must have spent 30-40 hours there just exploring without considering the quests and still missed a lot of things

      >Everything feels deliberate.
This is the kind of feeling you get in the first game where you're just exploring an area and suddenly you find a chest or a cave, it makes you feel welcomed and it rewards exploration.
There's a story equivalent for that feeling in 2 with the sidequests, after a while you understand why everything is placed where it is, it gives everything a purpose and it makes you learn about the world as you play.

Good skill loadout for Magick Archer? So far the ricochet skill has been the standout for me.

      Anonymous

Between ricochet, Sagittate torrent and frost hunters you can kill everything in the game fairly easily. Slap on martyr bolt if you want the delete screen memes or not

      Anonymous

I love ricochet, but it's so situational and you spend so much time outside that sometimes it's not worth having it equipped before exploring. I'd say the tryhard minmax skillset would be martyr's bolt, sagittate, blazefang and recovery.

        Anonymous

Ricochet shot is a cave cleaner it doesn't really do much oudoors but if you wanna use it go for it.
Sagittate arrow is your watered down martyr's bolt. Paired with the archer augment that lets you do more damage when hitting weak points and you'll be taking huge chunks off of enemies.
Martyr's bolt is your screen ender. Just sacrifice enough hp and everything in the direction you're facing will end up dead.
After that you can use anything. Personally I use soporific arrow because enemies will waste their time going into the knockdown animation before getting back in the fight, which is just free damage.

Ricochet lets me pray and spray really far away targets
Also remember the ricochets aren't random all the time, if an enemy is nearby it will go that way after hitting a wall.

Ricochet is only useful in a semi-enclosed area, so if you're fricking about in the overworld I personally wouldn't bother with it. Frosthunter is in my opinion mandatory, as is Sagittate. You can flex to whatever you want for the other 1-2 skills from there. Martyr's is your big boss DPS button, Recovery is a pretty fricking fantastic heal that can AoE so you don't need to run with a mage if they're mostly just there for heals. Blazefang has an MGS Nikita launcher function which I find funny, but usually you'll deploy it without that mode on. Fortalice is my fun meme choice because it lets your tank pawn have an easier time and has a lot of knockdown power.

    Hopes and dreams:
    >Northern snowy region of the map to fill out all that fricking blank space in the northwest
    >NG+ with a "G-Rank" option - featuring faster, more aggressive, more durable enemies with some new attacks sprinkled in
    >More enemy types, a few more vocations and a raised job level cap, new skills/passives
    Basically Dragon's Dogma: Iceborne.

Also something I like to call "Trailblazer Mode":
    >You're tasked to travel between two arbitrary points on the map within an in-game time limit (2 days, a week, etc.) - oxcarts/ferrystones of course do not work during this
    >these points can range from quick and simple like from melve to the borderwatch outpost, or world-trekking like the volcanic island camp to the nameless village
    >You spawn with minimal, if any items except for a tent, and can only use what you procure on the field.
    >Chests on the map have their contents replaced with various tokens you can redeem for a chance at unique and powerful gear as well as rare materials
    >if you don't make it within the time limit, all your loot is forefeited
    >various optional modifiers to further increase rewards, such as halved stamina regeneration, more large enemies, no sleeping, etc.
So the idea is that you need to balance getting to your location on time with going off the beaten path and finding chests to really rack up the rewards.

It needs large, well designed dungeons that focus on combat and exploration. I want treasure chests in fixed locations that have fixed meaningful rewards. I also want gear loadouts and new vocation ranks that come with new core skills, custom skills, and augments. No more open world areas, the world is already way too huge to begin with. Put all that effort into dungeons with actual level design instead. New monsters is a given as well. I'd also like a subclass system that gives everyone a second vocation and skill palette to swap to though I doubt that will happen.

It already does that. I could play as a Fighter Warfarer and equip 4 fighter skills and have the freedom to wear any armor and switch to a bow and staff whenever I please. Riotous Fury doesn't make up for that.

One class being better than another class doesn't make the other class redundant because maybe they play different.

One class being all the other classes combined does make everything redundant. Why even have vocations at that point? It kind of undoes the whole game.

                Anonymous

I'm telling you it already is. In most cases, Warfarer will just give you any of the other vocations with the added benefits of any armor and being able to mix other weapons. The only noticeable hit is Warrior's knockdown resist which is solved using rings and dwarven armor.

You get warfarer so late it should make the vocation system redundant as you should have played them all except maybe magick archer by then

I think Warfarer with 3 unique ability slots per weapon would be fun as hell, but I'm explaining to you guys why Capcom limited it in the first place. It's a vocation that undermines a core mechanic of the game and doesn't gel well with the design philosophy behind Dragon's Dogma (having separate vocations that do different things).

Imagine playing New Vegas and there are separate ballistics, melee, energy weapons, explosives, and heavy gunner builds, and then there is one build that incorporates all of them all at once.

Yeah... it's probably the "fun" one, but it also breaks the other builds and makes having builds at all be redundant.

I'm a True Warfarer gay and I disagree with you. Warfarer existing in its current state is better overall because the limitations allow for creative build combinations. If you were literally all classes rolled into one, it would invalidate playing every other vocation while also voiding the "create unique builds" element. I DO think rearmament shouldn't be a think and it should just have 4 skills though.

I only use true warfarer because I play with cdt and make the game like 10x fricking harder

You still have to pick 3 out of a variety of skills in each vocation, and with how rearmament works you also not only have to pick which vocations you want to use but in what order they come up to help you.

Who can forget that true warfarer or that suggested post gives you hotkey buttons for every single skill in the class right away. You don't have to pick and choose which ones you want to bring into battle, they're all right there to use off the bat.

Skill issue. Just Feste your way onto the boss's head before using it, or stand between the legs if it's a drake. And make sure to keep your fat thumb off the left stick unless repositioning is necessary during it.

You get the ability to wear any armor you want and equip three weapons at the cost of a skill button, now used to put one weapon away and pull the other one out.
      It feels horrendously tacked on.

yes but you only have 3 skill slots and slightly weaker stats.

You also can't use the vocation-associated maister skills like Metereon or the Thief's auto-dodge.

yeah I'd love if we had a movement skill slot or something where we could slot in shit like walljump, double jump, or levitate based on the classes we've levelled.

It's not so much about the loss of the dodge it's the inability to use any of your unlocked maister skills, you're already giving up one button for the Warfarer maister skill (which is integral to the class which is kinda gay, why not just make it a shoulder button?)

captain brant's quest mentioning a coronation will lock you out of his other quests if you haven't done them. Other than that the only other point of no return quest is very obvious, you will be heading towards a tower in the area of the game you started out and a guard will stop you and say you should probably rest before going forward

IIRC the coronation also locks out the phantom oxcart, a beggars tale and the 2 masquerade quests that Sven gives you. It DOESN'T block Wilhelmina's quest chain though, unlike what some people report.

Once you get the Godsbane back from him, a crisis event triggers and some exploration gets limited.

Then once you resolve that crisis, there's a final point of no return once you return to the slave camp from the game's beginning. An NPC will run up to you and tell you to go sleep in an inn before proceeding. At this point crisis mmusic stops playing and you can go back to exploring.

It's open ended, but it's absolutely not an open world. Each screen has chokepoint transitions and you can't freely run from one "end" of the world to the other. There's also no overworld like Fallout or area select screen like BG1. There's really no definition of open world that it fits.

I see your point when you put it like that, but I'd still consider it as open world even if the world is made out of small maps connected to each other via loading screens
it doesn't fit the definition 100% but the idea is still the same, a big traversable game area that is open to the player from the start

                >It doesn't even fit the definition of open world that you yourself gave.
at the beginning, once you return from the Junkyard the world becomes more accessible, the parts before could even be considered as a tutorial
besides, using high tier enemies to gate the player from entering certain parts of the map is not an uncommon thing in open world RPGs
                >Please show me how you reach the deep caverns before the end game.
Deep Caverns are the endgame area, you can't access the unmoored world locations in DD2 from the start either, endgame areas being locked away from the player does not invalidate the open world definition

Unmoored World is a different version of the same map. Deep Caverns are an entirely different area. Even then, cave ins and faceless digging block off and reveal different parts of the world throughout the game. If you have actually played the game, it's clear you haven't done so in so long that you have no recollection of how it's actually laid out. It's not open world at all. You're wrong.

Same, I'm honestly not even sure a stealth system exists at all, despite the game trying to convince me it does. For every mission I just sprinted into the castle at full tilt without problems. Even when guards shouted their "hey, you can't be here" lines after me, I just kept running and nothing happened. The only quest that paid lip service to stealth was the one where I freed the old dude from jail, and even there the patrolling guards ignored me entirely, except for those two times were they started attacking me without warning. But then I just killed them and nothing else happened. No reinforcements, no alarm, I just finished the quest.

For Itsuno to bring back animation cancelling, the scrapped skills, the scrapped combos like dire onslaught, and the scrapped spells. Bringing back Mystic Knight would also be great. Aside from that? A hard mode and a BBI styled dungeon with lots of enemy variety
If he does this, MAYBE DD2 will be half as good as DDDA

I'd take more of everything, really. More enemies, vocations, areas, armor/weapons, etc. Most importantly though is some kind of repeatable content/boss fights that are tuned for high level/well geared characters. The fact there's nothing like the Ur dragon, Everfall or BBI at the end when the combat is the best part of the game is hugely detracting from the longevity of the game.

Something to challenge me as I've become level 80+ and have all the best loot in the game.

I'm in NG+ and I have to use basic ass starter gear to feel some semblance of combat, which is kind of kino in a way, using a basic set of armor + basic sword feels badass in an RP kind of way, but there has to be some sort of answer to having all that top tier gear, some sort beast (or beasts) that can match it.

If Capcom combined Monster Hunter's level of boss diversity with Dragon's Dogma 2's world/exploration/scale/setting, I'd have the perfect game in my hands.

It has to be a specific bandit, not just any Thief will do. They're distinctive since they have hoods and face coverings and their behaviour makes them hang back more. There's usually 1 per mob.

They exist in many places but as I recall there's one outside the Volcanic camp and one somewhere on the road to Checkpoint Rest near one of the towers.
If you're having trouble getting downed just use a skill that depletes stamina, fall of a cliff, etc. Also make sure you actually have something to steal.

It just popped for me @ outer Vernworth in the tunnel passages if "To the Victor Go the Spoils" is the achievement you're referring to. Specifically the little passage located underneath the empty little shack with a locked door in the fields outside of the main city.

Had one of them tackle me and then steal an apple.

I don't know why but I love when games can frick you in your ass like this. Same thing when I heard about how dragon's plague can destroy your entire town.

Warfarer slowly levels up every vocation you have unlocked. It's easier to just level the other vocations individually though because even with Warfarer taking twice as long to level up as other vocations, your other vocations will get barely enough dcp to go from rank 1 to 4 by the time you're rank 9.

It really is. Also, the name is an absurd joke. Warfarer would suggest someone that's a master of warfare in all its forms, except this guy can only do 4 (3 really because one is rearmament) weapon skills. That's at best 3 skills of one thing and at worst 1 skill for each of 3 weapons. Makes sense that you get the knowledge from a failed arisen who spends his days being drunk.

Not everyone camps both day and night, much less cooks different meats. They stick with cooking the best one, or only have the worst one thanks to spoilage and resort to that.
