The female bandits to the north of Gran Soren hate men, so be prepared to fight them regularly if you don't do their quest line, are in the area, and have a male arisen/pawns. Meanwhile, Ogre fights become slightly harder and more chaotic when you have a female arisen/pawns.
I usually just choose my pawns based off of what I'm role-playing at the time, consequences be damned.
I always play a male arisen, female main pawn and hire one of each.

I almost exclusively hire male pawns. Only exception is when anons share their pawns (who are almost exclusively female).
There's too many bawd pawns, or e-girl pawns which is why the Male pawns tend to be a better option to hire. I normally go through phases of keeping a female pawn for a while, and then switch it up every now and again to a male one.
My main pawn is always a male one since that’s the one I’m whoring out for rift crystals. I only hire female ones. Their only use is being eye candy anyway

For my first playthrough I made my four man party for all the mp games I play, each dedicated to our regular roles. It was pretty good having my bros call out warnings, loot, and help teach me how to play the game as they ventured the rifts and picked up knowledge.

Thrusting with a mace is 100% viable strategy. It's obviously not as effective as thrusting with a piercing weapon, but getting your teeth knocked out by a lump of steel tends to frick you up.

and once a formation was broken, it was time to flee. maybe some commanders managed to make them regroup but once enough formations broke and enemies were pursuing, it was mostly over.

The reason solo daggers don't work well in vidya is that the lack of range can't be reconciled with a fast multi hitting moveset. You get the worst range and slower single hit attacks.
Smoke in the new mortal Kombat is a single dagger boy and his moveset is awesome. It doesn't really apply to DD because he's a fighting game character and has a ton of ninja magic, just sayan it can work in the right context.
Lost Ark did solo dagger really fricking well, to the point is actually my favorite rogue in gaming so far, shame they funnel you into using specific skills instead of being situation/preference based.

I've checked a few videos and can confirm that the guards in the main city carry this spear. I can't tell from the low res and cropped dialogue if this is a pawn or an NPC however. With that said, the fact that they've gone to the effort of rigged up a human skeleton with spear fighting animations at least gives hopes for a spear vocation, and not just locked to NPC guards.

Swords or essentially just spearlets. If you want a weapon that does damage to anyone in a moderate amount of protection, you need a hammer or a mace.

Meanwhile assasin, strider, ranger, fighter etc doesn't need any prep time to get into the action and be effective. hell maybe even warrior, because you cast just one single thing plus with knockdown resistance included passively.

MK is the only red that actually matches yellow vocations imo.

You equip riposte skills on your shield and buff your shield with it. They activate things when you block and they activate a better version of their things when you perfect block aka you need to time your press of the block button to the attack of your enemy. Theres an augment in fighter I think, that makes it easier to perfect block so you can equip that if you're practicing to learn it.

And is your gear dragonforged if damage is still a problem? Whatever you had vs. Grigori can be replaced
If you're complaining about damage at level 100, it's a skill issue.
I got my Chilling Razor Dragonforged because of Grigori and when I fought it I was a MA (now an Assassin) so I ended up getting the MA Bow from Grig, but I'm currently equiping myself with Rusted Daggers (Red Dragonforged) and Dragon's Rancor which I got from my first fight with Grigori. I was MA during my second fight with Grig,
Everfall is a waste of time, the fights are boring and the equivalent gear is dropped casually in BBI (or you can bother with Ur-dragon).
You can completely invalidate gear farming in Everfall just buy starting NG+ and buying better gear from the BBI merchant.
I guess you at least have to be botherd with some Everfall to START ng+ though.

i'm running 3.3k strength + 4x conquerer's periapt and can only take out 1/3rd of death's health when iraklis deigns to proc. iraklis procs 25% of the time to grant 9x weapon strength.
iraklis has 885 strength so it has 7965 strength when it procs.
i can take out BBI shit comfortably though.
i can take out ~2.5 dragons health bars almost every time i down one.
your best bet is using blast arrows if you want to force shit.
i fricked up. i'm running 3.3k strength with devil's nail, a level 3 BBI weapon gold forged.
i can only tickle death with jump attacks. which have above 4.2k strength due to eminence.
i have to use iraklis (1370 strength but has a special feature) to beat shit faster and deal more damage to death.

a rusted bow is generally better than daggers though, easier to torpor from range and strider is more focused on melee damage through climbing and skull splitter than bow stuff, though it's also viable

I hope DD2 is more challenging, not like BBI, but something more reasonable and constant, WITHOUT level scaling, I do hate how easy the game becomes after you're level 20 or so, specially if you know a little bit of the game.
A more interesting hard mode that is reasonable to use from the start of a new game would be neat
