No horses, but you can ride carts that follow a set path. You can "rest" and teleport to your destination or you can actually ride the entire ride and there will be little events like monster ambushes.

It depends on what kind of performance you're looking for, also on the rest of your rig, and perhaps more importantly, your budget.
1440p 60 fps. Not too fond of higher framerates because I play a lot of old games on emulators, often at 30 fps, and don't want to get too used to framerates higher than 60. My CPU is Ryzen 5 7600x. My budget... idk, I guess around 600 euro up to 800 if the GPU is sure to last for many years.
I'm guessing RTX 4070/RX 7800 XT should be good enough for that, perhaps you might want to wait for the demo to see some benchmarks, also, this month there will be a lot of new GPU releases, that often means current GPU prices might drop, at least a little bit.
Yeah I thought the 4070 would be the obvious choice but people here got me worried about the 12 GB VRAM. If I get a new GPU this year or the next, I plan to use it at least until 2030-32, just like how my GTX 1080 lasted from 2016 to this year or the next. But 12 GB Vram might not be enough for this.
You're asking for too much, these days GPU are overpriced, if you want a card to last you 6 to 8 years you might have to spend closer to $1000, I guess an RTX 4080 or 7900 XTX, and yeah, there's no way in hell an RTX 4070 would last that long.

No they aren’t. Cassardis had like two quests (thief at night and the well with OP lizard men) any “city/town” besides Grand Soren had jack shit.
Having quests isn't what makes a town good, or at least that isn't what the local shitskin ESL was implying, considering he separated towns and quests in his shitpost. The npcs in both Cassardis and Gran Soren move on a schedule, both towns are reactive to the main story and in GS's case their local sidequests, the NPCs are individualistic and the town layouts are interesting, with at least a modicum of thought put into them. The art design is fantastic and their commitment to the whole medieval fantasy bit is commendable. You don't have shit like Bethesda's stilted shop NPCs, or Bioware's general lifelessness. Admittedly there's little competition nowadays but that's just how the cards have fallen. As I said before, there are RPGs that do it better, like Witcher 3 (and 2), as well as KCD, but those are both a cut above what anyone else is doing and are therefore not the bar.
At the least, you could certainly argue the world is sparse as it only has two "real" towns. Fair, but that disassembles the point pretty succinctly considering we've already seen at least 4 different towns in DD2.

If there were more, maybe. The griffin quest in its entirety is pretty 10/10, but that's really only one single quest line. Salvation could have been really good as well with some build up and follow through with Mason.

KCD is a good game. What is it about DD that pulled you in? I don't see any overlap besides the medieval(ish) setting.
JRPGs tend to have significantly longer cutscenes and significantly worse dialogues than cRPGs, but I know DD isn't like that. For me, I wasn't able to enjoy DD because the story is so poor, and the gameplay felt like an MMO or Korean mobile game.

There isn't much overlap outside of the sense of adventure and exploration. DD is a combat heavy game that simulates adventure in a mediterranean DnD style setting. KCD is a story heavy game set in middle ages Bohemia thats strengths are how it does realism in gameplay, and all of options you have for solving quests in non-combat manners. I love doing shit like this in DD just like I loved the monastery quest and figuring out who the runaway was in KCD.
I've played played plenty of western RPGs. They all have crappy gameplay and try to make up for it by being halfway to a movie game. Lots and lots of dialogue, not a lot of fun. Sad!

Yes, you can buy an object that let's you alter everything about your character and pawn once, for 5000 RC, it's sold by guy on the encampment where you fight the Hydra, I think you have to at least reach Gran Soren for the first time for him to appear.
You can buy a one time item to change appearance, then when you beat the game you can buy an unlimited one.
There's also a mod to change your appearance at any time

i remember fighting this armored cyclops or something underground and it was absolutely bullshit
until my mage actually got a couple spells off
first time I played through DD was went warrior with a mage pawn
fighting the gryphon at duskmoon tower, I had it stunned, and charged up the big ass swing that warriors have. when I finally let it rip, my pawn called down a meteor at the EXACT same time. he had been charging that shit, same as me. one of the most godlike moments I've experienced in any single player game
Hiking and foraging is unironically dope though. I love doing it IRL and I love doing it in fantasy games where I sometimes do it strapped and frick up evil monsters.

The moment that sold me on the first dragons dogma was fighting the troll on the first trip to the everfall. I mounted the troll and it jumped off the side and fell to its death with me still on it but I was fine. Shit was so cool...
The moment that sealed the game for me was the road to Grand Soren quest, where I sat on my ass for half an hour watching a caravan move a hydra head while (maybe) two harpies in total attacked us.
Uninstalled shortly after.
Encountered those two ogres in the night and watched them grab one of the pawns and book it into the night.
This is all I have left to look forward to.

There's a thing that's been very unimmersive for me ever since I thought about it, I wonder if its the same for other anons.
Every NPC in Dragons Dogma looks standard, wears normal clothes, do normal things. Yet we are the only ones in the world wearing outlandish equipment and weapons. No other people do that, not even thieves. It breaks my immersion, it looks very out of place.
Personally, I think the graphics look fine, not amazing, but fine enough, and the requirements are rather modest too.

Honestly can't wait to play this. Really stoked for the DLC too. If they do anything like DA it will be amazing.
DD1 was a relatively down to earth, straight forward RPG that puts a lot of attention to little details. Only downside is that it felt a little unfinished and lacking in content later on. Sequel very clearly has the same direction and effort behind it and already has a lot of the ideas that were scrapped in the first game as well as a much bigger map. Basically everything DD1 fans wanted.
First game is one of the best games I've ever played and it was blatantly unfinished. This one is finished and more ambitious and takes advantage of more advanced hardware.

Good questions, we just don't know, Pawns come from the Rift, and that's about all we know, I suppose they look like humans because humans are the ones that will eventually become Arisens to then potentially become a Seneschal, so it would make sense for them to look like humans, it's a shitty explanation... But I do hope these sort of things are explained further.
They're toy soldiers sent by God to help Seneschal candidates overcome the obstacles that might snuff them out prematurely. A strong will is all that's really needed, the entire journey including the dragon is more of a test of bravery than a test of might. The arisen doesn't need to be a natural born combat master that 1v1 solo kills the dragon.

It's not really opinions though. There are bigger open world games that looks on par with it (Elden Ring) and there are games with much higher graphical fidelity and super-resolution textures (spider-mans, CoDs, FF16) and all of them have better recommended specs and all advertise 1080p 60fps at the very least. Even just saying that you are only guaranteed to hit 30fps with these specs seems ludicrous and reeks of bad game design. No games are made with 30fps in mind anymore.
Elden Ring looks like a nice PS4 game, and those other games you mentioned are not that amazing visually, I mean CoD? Really? And FF16 is not on PC AND it doesn't run that well on the PS5 anyway, FSR usage up the ass on that game, with a performance mode that practically never hits 60FPS.

I know because I RAN Elden Ring on a GTX 1070 when it came out, at 1440p60 with drops.
The only time you'd get anywhere near 4k60 in that game on a GTX 1070 is if you're staring at the ground in a dungeon or something.
3-4 year old specs for minimum requirements and it only promises playing at 1080p30fps. Playing at anything less than 1440p60fps is unplayable and that is only achievable without drops if you have a 4090 and current gen CPU.

Actually... Bullshots aren't just nicely framed pictures with the perfect timing or angles... They're supposed to be straight up screenshots of a game running at higher than possible graphical settings, the stuff only a developer has access to, Ubisoft's infamous Far Cry 3 bullshots did this.

That's not filmgrain, that's just a result of how the PS5 has to render it. Half the screenshots they post are things taken right out of the gameplay demos we've seen.
