haven't been this excited for a game since Pokemon Gold/Silver, and that was 23 years ago.
Playing DD1 right now and it's cool but I keep getting buttfricked by the bandits around the Witchwood area. The game seems to indicate that this is the next area for progression. I'm lv17 and whenever I fight the bandits, my pawns all go down even though they're lv20 and it takes a ton of hits to take down some of the bandits. Not sure what to do other than grind but that doesn't seem right.
By upgrade do you mean getting a whole new weapon or improving the existing weapon? I have the best I can get from the shop. Maybe I'm a moron and missed a weapon improvement mechanic.

If you haven't reached Gran Soren yet (the big city) then you should be able to ask Reynard the merchant for upgrades. He should be in the encampment or in Cassardis, near the entrance.

I'm playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Medieval kino to make the wait for DD2 easier, while also being the complete opposite to DD2 gameplay-wise so I don't burn myself out.

I always like seeing how they build the dogma games off a monhun framework. Dd1 was probably a prototype for World, dd2 is probably based on an early build for Wilds.

Pretty much agreed on all of those. We've already seen improvements to climbing so I don't think they'll randomly invert your controls or make you climb another limb anymore.

Heros Cape was behind an mtx paywall in dd1 (before DA obvs), it's my favorite in the game visually. I've just accepted there's probably gonna be quite a few content packs for DD2 locked behind the MTX paywall despite them charging $70. I just hope they also release an all-in-one bundle that includes all the various packs and it goes on sale regularly, but I don't think they did that for their other mtx heavy games?
DMC5 still paywalled some crossover and joke stuff, a weapon upgrade in cavaliere r and a character in Vergil (but tbh you used to have to buy a whole new game for the guy)

Well, vocation change now respecs your stats, so that'll make changing your playstyle much easier.
The game also has the scroll of metamorphosis (1 time use) and will likely have the one that allows unlimited uses aswell.

DD isn't so strict about the holy MMO trinity of tank/dps/heals. you can honestly get away with going 4 sorc if you want. the only issue would be fighting golems, who are immune to magic damage. but there are very few of those in the game. so really it's up to you. if you like the idea of having one dude with a shield protecting your spell homies, then go for it. personally, if I were rolling a spell sync party, I'd do 3 sorc and 1 mage, just to have some heals.
I'm curious how I'll be dealing with Golems as a Magick Archer now that I don't have my spinny blades. Hopefully there's an answer in the gameplay like a force type damage that works on their weak point.

Stop being a homosexual. Some spells have a physical component. You can for example target Gicel and chip away at Metal Golem medals. Also; your b***hslap is among your most powerful attack. It staggers for days.

nah dude I'm pumped too. pawns are the most soulful part of DD. pawn chatter is great, and now they can have whole conversations between each other. my only concern is the voice acting. max of course is the worst offender, but even the others sound pretty amateur. hope I can get used to it.
magic in DD is very love-it or hate-it. it has huge, planet-shaking spells that make you feel almighty but you are required to stand still for ~10 seconds to cast the spell. some people do not have the patience for that. if you do, then you'll be very satisfied with DD's magic.

I switched her from mage because after I got predation her healing wasn't useful anymore, but man I really wish I could just make her a mystic archer.
I guess sorc still beats the 70iq mage that casts anodyne that doesn't even activate untill after a devourer eats me.
I found that playing a fighter and having sorcerer pawns works incredibly well. You draw the enemies' attention and perfect guard the shit out of everything while pawns start nuking, and then once the big ones are downed you let dragon's maw rip.

no that was a fake image and morons spread it. There's literally PS5 footage of the fps being between 30 - 60 during combat, and that's most likely "quality" mode. There will probably be a performance mode that runs at a lower resolution (quality is 4k(i)) for steady 60fps.
Your GPU is weaker though, the ps5 is around the same performance as a 2070s according to DF.

Are there any noteworthy games on PC? Last time I upgraded my pc was for Monster Hunter and Zoo Planet. I also played Ark for a bit but Palworld doesn't appeal to me. Survivals are not fun without a big ecosystem of buttholes betraying each other. The server drama is the meat and potatoes of such games.
I assume you've played Elden Ring? If so, try the Convergence mod which is an interesting overhaul that adds a lot of new content (TONS of new spells) and opens up the map more so you can hop around to late game areas earlier. If not, play Elden Ring

Already confirmed to be returning when they were using it as an example of the better pawn AI. Thankfully they also confirmed your pawns will just go and seek out the crystals as long as they have a certain level of enemy lore

RE4 got a demo 2 weeks early and SF6 got a demo 5 weeks early. Going by that the earliest would be this week and the latest would be 3 weeks from now.
I imagine it releases sooner rather than later because it would likely include the character creator like SF6. I imagine it won't include the beginning of the game but rather something similar to the TGS demo in terms of content.

This is a big no-no for me. Mainly because once I start cheating in any game I can’t stop, and after 15 minutes all my characters will be fully maxed out with the best existing equipment “just to see what happens in the endgame”, and I quickly lose interest because the sense of progression is gone.
I actually agree with you most of the time, but by the time you're talking about beating Daimon in BBI, you're already pretty much done the game anyways. It's like how I mod decorations in Monster Hunter World with impunity instead of grinding Guiding Lands.
His moveset is not much harder IMO, but he has 1200 defenses (both physical and magic), so to even deal him any damage, you need some serious gear or a shitton of periapts.
I first beat him as a Magick Archer with a total of ~1300 magic attack on my bow, and ~950 physical attack on my daggers, using 4x periapts constantly.
Depends on your vocation, also just kill things and you will stop being poor in no time and you have a greater chance of getting lvl3 weapons by defeating the daimon.

After that, sleep in The inn outside bbi for 7 days and go to bbi again
If you can kill Daimon easily, its even easier, just run straight to him because his chester always have lv 3 shit

Just switch back. MK is a one trick pony that relies on perfectly timed blocks to deal satisfactory damage. Going from a ranger to a MK must be horrible.
I just got that one ring that improves class exp so i'm trying everything.
I liked Warrior and Mage, hated fighter and loved Ranger, Strider and Sorcerer.
I'm trying the mixed classes now but MK is really weird compared to the other red classes. After that i will probably move on to Assassin then Magic Archer because bows just seem like the best option for me.
The thing is, what stats you gain while leveling up depend on the vocation you were when you level up, so trying to go for everyone just makes you overall mediocre, Im level 115 iirc and decided to Dragonforge my pawn's equipment and found myself with like 800 less magic power than her despite wearing the same equipment she had.
I found out stats gains were affected by class way too late to correct that now.
I'm mostly coping with equipment.
Still i want to see all this game has to offer because it has surprised me when i give it the chance.

You'll be fine, anon. For as much shit as Warrior gets, that's exactly the way I did it on my first run.
You'll come to realize it's a been a bad choice, but only after already beating BBI. Yellow vocations not only have higher dps up close, they also have powerful bows that allow you to hit anything from a distance.
But I liked maxxing out my armor on my Warrior run, really fun purifying lvl3 bitterblack armor and having 100% resistance to so many debilitations. I hope you've got good luck when it comes to RNG.

You can make some really pointy noses in DD1 but I've never seen any clipping issues. I bet turning the ears up to 100 on every bar will make them pretty close to that.

No it won't, Frieren is barely even a fantasy show and the type of fantasy show it is has no crossover potential with Dragon's Dogma. The magic is stupid and resembles nothing in DD and the character designs are way out of place. It's 90% standing around and talking, you could swap the setting to literally anything with elves and magic the story would be the exact same. The setting isn't inextricably tied to the core of the show, like Berserk or DM, and that is exactly why a crossover wouldn't work. Again, none of the magic, weapons, or character designs fit with Dragon's Dogma at all.

The Berserk crossover was so good because DD was already inspired by berserk to begin with. The everfall, elysion, the duke and the princess, the entire warrior vocation, griffin set, mercedes... I could go on. Even the architecture is similar to what we see in the manga.
I wish Berserk wasn't in total purgatory when it comes to adaptations. But then again, that netflix pajeet who made castlevania a show about being gay wants to get his pawns on it, it might be for the better.

Itsuno purposely changed it from the way it worked in DD1. In DD1, things such as head size or troso shape could further increase or decrease the height of your character. In DD2 it can only increase the height of your character. You may ask why, and the answer is that Shazzamtrannies have infiltrated capcom and steered their game off course to justifyi the amount of time they've sunk into making DD1.2. threads. Minimum height will be 175cm at release, which is roughly twice the size of a fully grown nihonese. >source?

I literally did explain it through the way of japes. The height of a character is determined by more than just the height slider. Why don't you post the number they got when they put it on the other extreme? It was like 214cm (iirc) for a female character. That by itself is already taller than one could be in DD1 even with all the tricks, such as a long torso or a massive head.
In short, they used a preset that already had limbs on the longer side. Not a very short minimum height, but a very tall maximum height.

Anon, the problem is that in the character creation video we see them fiddling with many of the "bodypart length" settings, including leg length and torso length. None of it impacts height. And there is no "leg height" setting or "torso height".
My character sometimes just jumps and grabs onto a big enemy without any input from me whatsoever, feels more like they just home in onto a dragon's back out of nowhere, is that normal?
Do you guys prefer realistic armor or more stylized sets?
I much prefer realistic, practical looking armor. There's a lot you can do even if you stick with realism, there's been a ton of really cool custom armor (such as ones worn by kings or nobility)
DD's more fantasy armor is usually decent enough, way better than something you'd see in TES, but it's still got some low points (sin/hellfire sets)
I'm just really holding out hope for transmog in DD2. I remember getting the hero's bracers + cuisess with some solar armor and silver chainmail and being really happy with how it looked, but much less so with it's stats.

Another thing to note is that the DLC apps add up to 11, which are the 9 Deluxe Edition bonuses + 2 pre-order bonuses. They'll probably be available to buy individually like RE4's DLC.
As for the update history, before SF6 and RE4 demos released they had a period of 5-7 weeks of constant updates. The likely to be DD2 demo app has been updated constantly for 3-5 weeks, depending on if you want to exclude some of those early updates since they seem to be global Steam updates and not app specific. There also hasn't been an update this week so I'm guessing that's ruled out and next week is the earliest possible it could come out. The safest bet is still on the demo coming 2 weeks before release on March 8th.

Playing DD1 right now and it's cool but I keep getting buttfricked by the bandits around the Witchwood area. The game seems to indicate that this is the next area for progression. I'm lv17 and whenever I fight the bandits, my pawns all go down even though they're lv20 and it takes a ton of hits to take down some of the bandits. Not sure what to do other than grind but that doesn't seem right.
have you upgraded yours and your pawn's weapon? that makes a difference. If you still can't beat them, just keep running towards the forest.

Pretty much agreed on all of those. We've already seen improvements to climbing so I don't think they'll randomly invert your controls or make you climb another limb anymore.

I just hope they also release an all-in-one bundle that includes all the various packs and it goes on sale regularly, but I don't think they did that for their other mtx heavy games?

DD isn't so strict about the holy MMO trinity of tank/dps/heals. you can honestly get away with going 4 sorc if you want. the only issue would be fighting golems, who are immune to magic damage. but there are very few of those in the game. so really it's up to you. if you like the idea of having one dude with a shield protecting your spell homies, then go for it. personally, if I were rolling a spell sync party, I'd do 3 sorc and 1 mage, just to have some heals.

magic in DD is very love-it or hate-it. it has huge, planet-shaking spells that make you feel almighty but you are required to stand still for ~10 seconds to cast the spell. some people do not have the patience for that. if you do, then you'll be very satisfied with DD's magic.

I switched her from mage because after I got predation her healing wasn't useful anymore, but man I really wish I could just make her a mystic archer.

I found that playing a fighter and having sorcerer pawns works incredibly well. You draw the enemies' attention and perfect guard the shit out of everything while pawns start nuking, and then once the big ones are downed you let dragon's maw rip.
My last playthrough was as a ranger, I'd find it really difficult to go back to using a red vocation. No wonder they made daggers and bows seperate vocations.

no that was a fake image and morons spread it. There's literally PS5 footage of the fps being between 30 - 60 during combat, and that's most likely "quality" mode. There will probably be a performance mode that runs at a lower resolution (quality is 4k(i)) for steady 60fps.

Survivals are not fun without a big ecosystem of buttholes betraying each other. The server drama is the meat and potatoes of such games.
I assume you've played Elden Ring? If so, try the Convergence mod which is an interesting overhaul that adds a lot of new content (TONS of new spells) and opens up the map more so you can hop around to late game areas earlier. If not, play Elden Ring

Already confirmed to be returning when they were using it as an example of the better pawn AI. Thankfully they also confirmed your pawns will just go and seek out the crystals as long as they have a certain level of enemy lore
I hope they come back but the crystals are spread out across multiple rooms so you have to explore to find them all while the golem koolaid mans through the walls behind you
I hope they add a stalker golem that follows you everywhere it goes and it's crystals are spread throughout the open world.

Farm everfall for wakestones then sell them. There's probably a more efficient way but that's what I did.
Use the Dragon's Dogma save editor to give yourself tons of gold and rift crystals. Works fine and you won't get banned for it.

This is a big no-no for me. Mainly because once I start cheating in any game I can’t stop, and after 15 minutes all my characters will be fully maxed out with the best existing equipment “just to see what happens in the endgame”, and I quickly lose interest because the sense of progression is gone.
the only acceptable “cheat” for dd is infinite sprint out of combat, if you can stop yourself there it’s a nice qol feature.
i hope DD2 has some kind of way to sprint longer a la ffxv where pressing the sprint button just before running out of stamina refreshes it.
I actually agree with you most of the time, but by the time you're talking about beating Daimon in BBI, you're already pretty much done the game anyways. It's like how I mod decorations in Monster Hunter World with impunity instead of grinding Guiding Lands.

His moveset is not much harder IMO, but he has 1200 defenses (both physical and magic), so to even deal him any damage, you need some serious gear or a shitton of periapts.
I first beat him as a Magick Archer with a total of ~1300 magic attack on my bow, and ~950 physical attack on my daggers, using 4x periapts constantly.

Depends on your vocation, also just kill things and you will stop being poor in no time and you have a greater chance of getting lvl3 weapons by defeating the daimon.

After that, sleep in The inn outside bbi for 7 days and go to bbi again
If you can kill Daimon easily, its even easier, just run straight to him because his chester always have lv 3 shit

Go through soulflayer canyon, just sprint right through it. Much more convenient in my experience.

Just switch back. MK is a one trick pony that relies on perfectly timed blocks to deal satisfactory damage. Going from a ranger to a MK must be horrible.
I just got that one ring that improves class exp so i'm trying everything.
I liked Warrior and Mage, hated fighter and loved Ranger, Strider and Sorcerer.
I'm trying the mixed classes now but MK is really weird compared to the other red classes. After that i will probably move on to Assassin then Magic Archer because bows just seem like the best option for me.
The thing is, what stats you gain while leveling up depend on the vocation you were when you level up, so trying to go for everyone just makes you overall mediocre, Im level 115 iirc and decided to Dragonforge my pawn's equipment and found myself with like 800 less magic power than her despite wearing the same equipment she had.
I found out stats gains were affected by class way too late to correct that now.
I'm mostly coping with equipment.
Still i want to see all this game has to offer because it has surprised me when i give it the chance.

You'll be fine, anon. For as much shit as Warrior gets, that's exactly the way I did it on my first run.
You'll come to realize it's a been a bad choice, but only after already beating BBI. Yellow vocations not only have higher dps up close, they also have powerful bows that allow you to hit anything from a distance.
But I liked maxxing out my armor on my Warrior run, really fun purifying lvl3 bitterblack armor and having 100% resistance to so many debilitations. I hope you've got good luck when it comes to RNG.

You can make some really pointy noses in DD1 but I've never seen any clipping issues. I bet turning the ears up to 100 on every bar will make them pretty close to that.

The Berserk crossover was so good because DD was already inspired by berserk to begin with. The everfall, elysion, the duke and the princess, the entire warrior vocation, griffin set, mercedes... I could go on. Even the architecture is similar to what we see in the manga.

Itsuno purposely changed it from the way it worked in DD1. In DD1, things such as head size or troso shape could further increase or decrease the height of your character. In DD2 it can only increase the height of your character. You may ask why, and the answer is that Shazzamtrannies have infiltrated capcom and steered their game off course to justifyi the amount of time they've sunk into making DD1.2. threads. Minimum height will be 175cm at release, which is roughly twice the size of a fully grown nihonese.

I literally did explain it through the way of japes. The height of a character is determined by more than just the height slider. Why don't you post the number they got when they put it on the other extreme? It was like 214cm (iirc) for a female character. That by itself is already taller than one could be in DD1 even with all the tricks, such as a long torso or a massive head.
In short, they used a preset that already had limbs on the longer side. Not a very short minimum height, but a very tall maximum height.
Anon, the problem is that in the character creation video we see them fiddling with many of the "bodypart length" settings, including leg length and torso length. None of it impacts height. And there is no "leg height" setting or "torso height".

Do you guys prefer realistic armor or more stylized sets?
I much prefer realistic, practical looking armor. There's a lot you can do even if you stick with realism, there's been a ton of really cool custom armor (such as ones worn by kings or nobility)
DD's more fantasy armor is usually decent enough, way better than something you'd see in TES, but it's still got some low points (sin/hellfire sets)
I'm just really holding out hope for transmog in DD2. I remember getting the hero's bracers + cuisess with some solar armor and silver chainmail and being really happy with how it looked, but much less so with it's stats.

I know those are DLC because it shows that I own them all. Another thing to note is that the DLC apps add up to 11, which are the 9 Deluxe Edition bonuses + 2 pre-order bonuses. They'll probably be available to buy individually like RE4's DLC.
As for the update history, before SF6 and RE4 demos released they had a period of 5-7 weeks of constant updates. The likely to be DD2 demo app has been updated constantly for 3-5 weeks, depending on if you want to exclude some of those early updates since they seem to be global Steam updates and not app specific. There also hasn't been an update this week so I'm guessing that's ruled out and next week is the earliest possible it could come out. The safest bet is still on the demo coming 2 weeks before release on March 8th.
