It'd be cool. Spears are super underutilised in gaming, ESPECIALLY compared to how ubiquitous they have been historically. My one worry is that if we also get halberds and such under the same class, they'll end up having the exact same animations, like maces and greathammers did with swords and greatswords respectivelly did in DDDA.
Furhtermore, I think it'd be extremely cool if there was an option to form some kind of phalanx with fellow spear wielding pawns. It's wishful thinking, but forming a wall around a sorcerer casting a long spell would be so cool imo.
Maybe spears are in but it's also possible that they're not. It'd definitely to see spears not get shafted for once, but non-pawn npcs used a unique moveset with regular swords in the first game so it's not impossible that guards in DD2 have spears in a similar way. "Spear humanoid" might just be an enemy type.

I mean the online functionality is just hosting a couple of files with pawn info on them. DD1's online services are still running 12 years later because of that
Dunno if there's any official info on this elsewhere but in the GDC presentation Itsuno said one of the main constraints they had when developing the online for DD1 was for it to be free (for Capcom). To meet that goal they used each platform's integrated leaderboards so they didn't need to maintain their own servers. At least that's how it was done for PS3, 360 and Steam, though it was almost certainly kept that way for the later PS and Xbox ports.
The Nintendo Switch port seems to be an exception to that constraint, having been released years later, allowing you to share a Pawn's unique ID. I guess Nintendo doesn't offer free leaderboards so they had to make do on their own.
I'm curious to see if they continue with DD1's implementation or keep their own servers for DD2 and potentially add cross platform sharing with unique IDs. Part of me wishes they keep the leaderboard design of the first game because at least the Steam leaderboards will certainly outlast Capcom's interest in maintaing servers for the game.
While unnecessary to achieve cross platform sharing, Capcom has recently been pushing their Capcom ID system recently. Note that while Steam is probably going to be the first platform to confirm or deny using Capcom ID the metadata for DD2 on Steam is still incomplete as it doesn't even list Achievements or Trading Cards.

Dark Arisen had a fov slider from the get go. Maybe 2 will as well.
I remember RE4R having a slider, but the maximum value was still too narrow, had to use Cheat Engine to get it to a decent level (90)
A bit too small, but I'm sure it would look good if you were to play far away, like you would on a large TV, on a monitor, it might be a bit too narrow.
The first game had a very nice FoV slider option on PC, the maximum value was rather high, the default/original FoV was definitely way too narrow.
Problem with 4make was it took a while to get a working fov that didn't frick up the attache case or scopes. Wonder if it will be the same with DD2.

It's not about the textures, it's about the terrain builder. Compare it to something like Fromsoft's terrain builder, which admittedly is fricking ancient but it still was a very poor tool even for the time it was made. Worked for them for a long time, as they primarily did interior sections, but Elden Ring made it really obvious how outdated the engine tools are.

Likely wishful thinking but hope there's factions/covenants you can join, and they have their own goals & interact in the world regardless of what the player is doing. Like a hunter faction that has NPC parties who go out hunting beasts (we've already seen NPC adventure parties), or rival cat & human factions that despise each other and members get into skirmishes at the border.

Like even just mashing X seems to do all these different slashes, and it's more visceral seeing a big variety of attack animations compared to the same 3-hit combo in DD1. The execution animations are the cherry on top; it makes me wonder how many there are in total.

It has to be the Dragonforged or his DD2 equivalent. I doubt a random guy would teach you the "arisen" vocation and the only other arisen would be the false arisen mentioned in the trailers, though it's also possible it's an unlock from an ending. I'm not sure what a maister would teach you though since it mostly seems to rely on other vocations' skills.

Don't believe me? Look closer at the class emblem. It's shades of brown/orange (picture related is the left side of the emblem blurred, it's clearly brown/orange).
There is actually 7 colours used, one for each colour of the rainbow. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Trickster is actually a combination of the indigo and violet classes.

Part of the popularity of GTA5 happened because it had a crazy amount of content by the time most people got into it, it spent a few years underperforming with a lackluster barebones multiplayer component.
GTA6 is going to dissapoint a lot of those normies because it's going to have way more early adopters and wont even have 1/10th the content 5 does.

for me, it depends of the amount of stuff that they've managed to keep as a secret. Vocations, enemies, locales... if it's really true that they "went all out" as Itsuno said on an earlier interview and the game has a lot of content + cool dungeons + a crazy endgame, then the game will probably be a 10/10 (at least for me) and nothing will ever come close to it.
at the very least I hope the game doesn't get ignored by other devs and some learn a few things from it.

Uncapped means it'll run as fast as it can, but that doesn't mean it can't drop FPS, and it certainly dropped quite a lot on all the footage we've seen whenever the screen got a little busy with particles and effects.

You could get twice as much FPS with the same card on RE4R, also, it's not really $200, the RX 6700 costed like $400 at release, used it might cost $200, while the RTX 2080 was $700, it's probably worth $400 these days.

So, how much do you guys think DD2's story will mirror DD1's? Obviously there's the whole cycle thing, as well as the fact that DD2 aims to realise all the cut content from DD1.
But I just don't see the same plot again being very engaging. So far the promo material has shown a bunch of court intrigue stuff which I'm looking forward to. That being said, I doubt they'd even touch any of the mindfrick seneschal stuff in advertising anyway.
I hope they have a cool new twist, seeing everything go to shit once the dragon dies just wont be the same the second time.
I expect some similarities while being different enough. Game already has a desert kingdom full of cat people, which should spice things up quite a bit already.

FROM released 5 very successful games leading up to ER (even though they were different franchises even a layman knows they're all from the same studio and roughly the same thing) and also stapled GRRMs name to the game. They were on a roll and could afford this kind of marketing more than Dragon's Dogma can.
