They are adding multiple save files right? I want to be able to make multiple characters and pawns and I also want to be able to hire my own pawns for my party.
No confirmation yet. Though if you're playing on PC, you can copy your save files in and out of another folder. It's not convenient, but it's an option.

Cities in Dragon Dogma look real, and I lived in an Italian medieval age town so I know what I'm talking about. There was clearly a LOT of studying behind DD geography and locations.
Yeah I'm from a medieval town in Italy too (whole intact segments of medieval walls from the 1200s and all that) and the only fantasy towns that felt legit and real were from DD and Witcher 3. Novigrad in particular is excellent.

Moving those weapon skills to core skills and working them into the base movesets/controls in various ways is a great idea, most of them were cool, but not cool enough to waste a weapon skill slot on them. Now you don't have to.
We've seen what that does. It literally turns your character 90 degress in one or two frames. That's it.

One thing that I did notice from the demo gameplay is the lack of loading screens. The only thing resembling a loading screen is when getting into the rift. It fricking looks like everything is going to be seamless in the world HOLY KINO.

Not necessarily, PS5's CPU is kind of shit, so most PCs should have better performance, assuming you have at least Ryzen 5 3600 or a 10th gen intel.
It's also presumably an older build, so the performance hasn't been looked at too much, that's one of the last things that are worked on in game development.

I could go on to explain this in details because i understand animation, but basically the thing that makes an attack feels snappy is how fast an animation goes from one pose to another (telegraphed pose to the moment where its cutting), this is clearly mo-capped and not refined enough, the disney animators called this "curse of live action" or something like that, if you stick too close to realism you end up losing what makes it feel real in the first place.
I think so, specially since that game was so rushed, some animations in dark souls 2 are decent and its clear that they tried modulating the speed (its called texture) of the animations to some extent, but they didn't execute it well enough, the greatsword swings felt specially floaty, trying to sell how heavy it is, but to make something feel heavy you make it move slower at first then really fast later (and make the character's body get pulled by all that weight, you can see this in MonHun being really well executed)

The only animations so far that feel worse than 1 is the Fighter animations others looked decent and skill animations still look just as great as 1.
yeah they gotta fix mo-capped animations as i said in another post but it seems they didnt push it far enough (the light and heavy attack animations for fighter yep) to my liking and clearly people noticed it looks floatier.

The last clip where we see the animations from the side looks way better than when you see them from the front for some reason. And the closer camera too.
In the demo video the camera seems zoomed way further out and it looks a bit awkward when the player is moving slowly then attacking, I think that's the main thing that makes them seem worse to people.

Weak hitstop, no flinching/'shake-on-hit' effect, weak sound design, mocap homosexualry, low IQ intern combat director/designer that prefers particle effects spam instead of visceral feedback. I think the guy that worked on DD1 is currently working on the upcoming Monster Hunter game or he left Capcom, so that's why DD2 looks like shit.

Oh, its just barely visible on large monsters. There should be blood sprays like Berserk, among other details, otherwise it doesn't feel like you're fighting a large monster.

I think the implication is every Pawn has or had an Arisen, yes. There's the shop pawn in the Everfall who says he is sworn to his fallen mistress to aid the arisen, for instance.

Seems like a very odd choice to segregate into red, blue, green and yellow vocation types but only have one dedicated green and one hybrid green. I expect there are more, there may not be more weapon types, but I expect there are more vocations.
What exactly were they supposed to do for advanced versions of archer and thief anyway? Assassin and Ranger were melee and ranged specializations of Strider respectively (but you might as well just play Strider and get the benefits of both), but now Strider's gone and Thief and Archer basically take the spot of the previous advanced vocations.
And with subweapons gone they can't really do hybrids that aren't just "base class but with more magic".
We don't need HBG kill squads from MH in Dragon's Dogma, making a class whose entire identity is just doing way more damage than everyone else is a game design nightmare
Who cares? Just add it anyway, if you want to build a party around shredding endgame bosses in seconds with ranged weapons why shouldn't you be able to?

Warrior is just fighter eschewing defense and going all in on damage. It doesn't dominate. Sorcerer tosses mage's heals and almost all buffs and goes in on damage. It doesn't dominate. Don't jump to conclusions.
The hybrids are more versatile and the advanced vocations are the most specialized. And their specialization in the first game was basically one form of offense. Warrior was melee damage, ranger was ranged damage, sorcerer was magic damage.
Fighter, strider, and mage were all more versatile. And then Assassin, MK, and MA were even more versatile than them.

Warrior and Sorcerer also both fail at doing what they set out to do, they sacrifice defenses and utility for negligible benefit which leads to the opposite problem

They could. yellow = range, green = quick attacks. Yellow/green could be a chain weapon if they wanted. Fighter has a defense focus (that warrior loses) but hybrid it with thief and you could get a fast striking class that has defensive utility. Like a monk class built around parries and counters.
Advanced Thief would just be DDON Seeker, which had grappling hooks to help climb mons and more emphasis on bombs

see those squares at the right side of the items? you will upgrade/install stuff there like gloves, shoulder armor, belts, whatever and customize the armors, there are many choices, like the ranger leggings there: you can "upgrade" it the get metal boots and/or knee pads.
I hope they change how stat progression works. I hated the idea that to maximize everything, you had to level up other classes just to have better stats.

Your options besides stubbornly slamming your head into that wall are
Hug the mountain, the bandits there are weaker and you can kill them quickly and make it to the woods.
Take the long way around. Can't recommend this one.

Or go at night. At night the bandits retreat to their fort and only wolves patrol the road to the witch wood.
The bandits are notorious for being over leveled for the area. Either run past them, or go at night when they're not there.

I have never seen a cutscene outside some early ones where Shadow tries to kill Lae'zel where they actually interact. Moving those weapon skills to core skills and working them into the base movesets/controls in various ways is a great idea, most of them were cool, but not cool enough to waste a weapon skill slot on them. Now you don't have to.

Not necessarily, PS5's CPU is kind of shit, so most PCs should have better performance, assuming you have at least Ryzen 5 3600 or a 10th gen intel.
It's also presumably an older build, so the performance hasn't been looked at too much, that's one of the last things that are worked on in game development.

RE Engine is literally holding this game back. It's the largest 'open world' game outside of Remakes etc that they've used it for right? Pretty sure World was still MT Framework.
The game has grass physics its in every single piece of footage including that one on the small grass, they just didn't put it on the wheat.

Why do the basic attacks look so floaty? The first game had very snappy attacks,this just looks like he's waving the sword in front of him.
I also see it, like there's no real weight to attacks compared to original.
I could go on to explain this in details because i understand animation, but basically the thing that makes an attack feels snappy is how fast an animation goes from one pose to another (telegraphed pose to the moment where its cutting), this is clearly mo-capped and not refined enough, the disney animators called this "curse of live action" or something like that, if you stick too close to realism you end up losing what makes it feel real in the first place.

I think so, specially since that game was so rushed, some animations in dark souls 2 are decent and its clear that they tried modulating the speed (its called texture) of the animations to some extent, but they didn't execute it well enough, the greatsword swings felt specially floaty, trying to sell how heavy it is, but to make something feel heavy you make it move slower at first then really fast later (and make the character's body get pulled by all that weight, you can see this in MonHun being really well executed)

The only animations so far that feel worse than 1 is the Fighter animations others looked decent and skill animations still look just as great as 1.
yeah they gotta fix mo-capped animations as i said in another post but it seems they didnt push it far enough (the light and heavy attack animations for fighter yep) to my liking and clearly people noticed it looks floatier.

The last clip where we see the animations from the side looks way better than when you see them from the front for some reason. And the closer camera too.
In the demo video the camera seems zoomed way further out and it looks a bit awkward when the player is moving slowly then attacking, I think that's the main thing that makes them seem worse to people.

Every Arisen creates a pawn basically. If the Arisen dies the pawn is just stuck in limbo like Selene etc. They can however become human over time in likeness of their Arisen.
Either each Arisen creates its own and they are shared among the multiverse, or the seneschal populates the latter with them

Seems like a very odd choice to segregate into red, blue, green and yellow vocation types but only have one dedicated green and one hybrid green. I expect there are more, there may not be more weapon types, but I expect there are more vocations.
What exactly were they supposed to do for advanced versions of archer and thief anyway? Assassin and Ranger were melee and ranged specializations of Strider respectively (but you might as well just play Strider and get the benefits of both), but now Strider's gone and Thief and Archer basically take the spot of the previous advanced vocations.
And with subweapons gone they can't really do hybrids that aren't just "base class but with more magic".

The hybrids are more versatile and the advanced vocations are the most specialized. And their specialization in the first game was basically one form of offense. Warrior was melee damage, ranger was ranged damage, sorcerer was magic damage.
Fighter, strider, and mage were all more versatile. And then Assassin, MK, and MA were even more versatile than them.

They could. yellow = range, green = quick attacks. Yellow/green could be a chain weapon if they wanted. Fighter has a defense focus (that warrior loses) but hybrid it with thief and you could get a fast striking class that has defensive utility. Like a monk class built around parries and counters.
Advanced Thief would just be DDON Seeker, which had grappling hooks to help climb mons and more emphasis on bombs

I always thought that it would have been a hundred times better to just make them normal human companions in DD1 that you can create / recruit in a tavern or something but there must be a way for the very concept of "Pawn" to work in the lore.
