No cringe western dialogue trees, just you getting stronger and hitting things with cooler skills. It also has fun mechanics like night being an actual dangerous time to be outside, picking up and throwing people and objects around, climbing monsters to stab them, and a bunch of other weird ideas.

I heard some buzz about dark spells being removed from mage/sorc but what about light spells?
They gained new holy spells. Mage has Empyrean and sorcerer got Decanter.
Given that we see them wearing armor, thats basically a cleric or battle mage. Weird to just call it mage still.
They don't really do the whole holy smiting thing, they still have to use Levin/Frigor/Flagration to attack.

That could be a demo thing though i suppose.
This makes sense, it will likely give you a basic weapon loadout so you can at least start using it right away (even if the weapons suck). It is possible to unlock Warrior in DD without having any 2H weapons.

Off the top of my head, sorcerer's in DD1 didn't have the thunder mine spell, the flamethrower, the ground fire, or the crawling ice that explodes into spikes.

That's just new and improved Frigor, replacing Frazil as the beginning ice spell. Sorcerers have a more advanced ice spell called Hagol that creates a frostbite-inducing area.

What do you think adv yellow and green will be about now that strider and ranger no longer are a thing.
I think Yellow will be a arbalester using a arbalest (basically a crossbow but chad) and a pavise shield, with more powerful shots and a block option at the cost of agility and having to reload the arbalest, which mean a decreased rate of fire.
As for Green, maybe a brawler using gauntlets and greaves to give them a thug vibe, with their gimmick being all about expanding the grab command, opening stuff like suplex or using a enemy to strike another enemy.
arbalest is the most logical progression for yellow and would be easy to implement and brainstorm ideas for. as for green, that opens a lot more possibilities. could be anything from brawler like you said to dual axes, to trapper/bomber, etc. so many choices.
An alternative for green would be sabers. Think prince of persia.

Anyone else going jap dub this time around? Some of the english pawn voices are really grating from the gameplay we've seen, which sucks since most of the main characters sound pretty good.
DD1's jap dub was pretty good too but it's a bit of a different feel than the english one.
I'm gonna try english at first and if I can't deal it then I'll switch to JPN. that would be very unfortunate if I had to do so, but at least the option is there and JPN dub never disappoints. it just doesn't feel proper with DD's setting.

It's a 7/10 or 8/10 depending on your preferences. Story is good. Combat is fun, but currently base difficulty feels too easy the more you learn how to play. There are optional timed challenges that can be quite entertaining to master. First dlc is out, and it's supposedly harder. Second dlc coming some time this spring which will add more content as well as abilities. I'd say it's worth the play.
