>don't deal any damage to enemy whatsoever, even when climbed on head and doing Thousand Kisses
>use 4 periapts (2x more STR)
>suddenly deal insane fricking damage and kill the first phase of final boss in 15 seconds
What the actual frick? This is some absolutely moronic damage calculation.

this is the best 7/10 game i have ever played
i think it merits a playthrough every 2 or 3 years
nice youtube opinion, haven't heard that a million times you beta homosexual
To me it's more like a mid-tier 6/10 game.
Adhesion + 4 Periapts + Opportunism + Vehemence + Clout = Daimon 2nd form in 5 seconds.
Your damage has to overcome their defence stat otherwise you just tickle them. But as soon as you inch passed that defence barrier your damage jumps up quite a bit.
I really hope the defense mechanics are better in the sequel, it felt silly like this, you either do nothing to an enemy or rape it outright with often no middle ground
I mean, it is deadly weaponry. either your/their armor works or it doesn't. it's not as steep as you're implying though and while I'm not hot about keeping it the same I do like the clear sense of progression.
I've barely felt like I'm outright raping anything that I wasn't way overleveling but I also don't double my damage with consumables.
The defense system is perfect for an open world with gate encounters, because you will most likely do alright damage after you frick off for a few levels
This is why min/maxing is silly - the thresholds are set up so that you literally never need it. People hit the threshold once at the beginning of the game and instead of adapting their strategies they determine is max power or nothing. Per the wiki it looks like even Big-D v2.0 only has like 1.2k defense and BBI weapons clear that pretty handily.
That's why you have moves like Deathly Arrow/Great Gamble, Arc of Deliverance, literally any Sorcerer spell, Gouge, etc
You can beat shit way out of your gear range if you have a big multiplier attack you can abuse or stack buffs
No, the defense system in DD is perfect, don't mess with it.
The whole game is a giant gear check which only makes progressing through it entirely tedious.
>what's that? you didn't get the newest buttfricker 9000 sword from gran sorys? better trek 12 miles before you can try the one cave area for your early game level quest
Game should've just been cancelled if it was going to be that bad.
You can medicate that ADHD anon
>magic archer has a spell that buffs your magic damage for a while
>you can stack it like 4 times
>What the actual frick? This is some absolutely moronic damage calculation.
It's actually really simple, but you were used to modern and extremely convoluted ways to calculate it.
I wonder how many people on here got filtered by selecting hard mode for their first play through.
I picked hard for my first playthrough, got my ass absolutely kicked but still powered through it
now Dragon's Dogma is my favorite game ever. still hate hard mode though
Hard is only hard for warriors, a little hard of sorcerers, easy for everyone else.
I picked hard and went to the giant blue circle advertised on the map (bbi). It sucked
>get accosted by griffins every time I walk out of gran soren and get near the dragonforged
>take quest to kill a griffin
>the entire species up and vanishes
Try the battlefield area next to the bandit fort near Witchwood.
How does NG+ change the game?
Really? The only times I've seen that fricker is during scripted events. I must have shit luck.
Everyone has the same affection for you and the seneschal and his pawn change to the last person who beat the game in online mode or if you set yourself to offline before starting the last fight it will be old you and your old pawn
I played through the game like two times and never saw a griffin outside of the main quest one. Turns out they never show up if you don't trigger the cart attack event
Griffins are just buttholes. Just stop looking for him and he will come
See ya later, wingless piece of shit
>managed to spot a griffin
>motherfricker lands 50 kms of me, kindaps an ox and fricks off inmediatly
he might fly back down if you kill something and throw it at yoyr feet right away
You stupid motherfrickers never abandon all delusions of control before you start that quest.
I finished the whole game, including awakened Daimon, without using any items, aside from occasionally healing, but not often, as my pawn is a healer.
Seems it could've been a smoother experience, if I wasn't autistic.
Only the biggest fricking brainlets think the damage calculation is bad.
>numbers good, player skill bad
Yes, it's an RPG.
NTA but RPG means Role Playing Game not Grind Gear for better stats game.
It's a bad game on purpose. Play Witcher 3.
No, you go on ahead. I'll play this instead.

She’s been helpful to the anons ever since I started posting recently. I changed the miasma into holy affinity to test something out if people like it more that way. Please hire!
Someone take her for a walk she's cranky
>PC/Steam
Your pawn's at the level where people are starting or in progress of BBI. Fire goes from the best element to the worst element in BBI. I'd replace Ingle with High Seism (holy damage) and Exequy with Frazel/Gicel/Frigor. I'd be okay with Ice Affinity but more people will be looking for Holy Affinity so I'd replace that as well.
Frazil kinda sucks and it's a little annoying to have a pawn trying to stand around and cast high seism unless you're specifically trying to spell sync with them
Makes sense, i'll try to fix her up a bit later
Which weapons do I want to get from Grigori? Should I play fighter or Mystic Knight from him? I wanna get as much dragon weapons from him as a collection
Get the sword as it's literally called Dragon's Dogma.
>Get the sword as it's literally called Dragon's Dogma
This, you can use it with Mystic Knight, Fighter and Assassin.
So I just beat grigori with my sorc and I feel a little behind. I got a neat archistaff but the enemies in the everfall feel a bit too strong for my gear.
Is rolling the dice in BB my only choice if I want weapons for better vocation? Currently level 55.
Grigori archistaff is amazing, just upgrade and dragonforge it.
It's the best one untill you get something from UR dragon and then it's just lvl3 BBI archistaff.
Just run around Everfall and beat what you can but don't stress it much. The first boss in BBI is a Goreclops you can just sit above and nuke with ice for easy xp and items once you chuck all the necromancers in the pit with him and kill that fricking gargoyle. Once you have a few decent bits go back to Everfall and it will seem too easy lol.
So what stuff are tradable?
Umm guy, Ur Dragon is almost dead. And I just finished defeating Grigori, what do?

gamepad or kb+m for this game?
Don't know about gamepad but kb+m is very good
kb+m for archery, gamepad for everything else
Though Magic Archer has autoaim, so it feels very comfortable on gamepad.
Whatever you prefer
Fricked up doing Witch Hunt cuz I started levelling Sorc and all my pawns were mostly useless in targetting the golem's medals, and I was even more useless because I was sorc.
At last I realized I could kill the Golem faster by punching it's medals bare-handed rather than trying to use magic. Fun times.
Have fun with metal golem.

>nah i punc u xD

>being so creatively bankrupt the only thing you can imagine monks doing is punching
>cant even begin to fathom anything beyond simple punches
Sad!
monk is never a fun class because they ignore entire swathes of equipment. shame because I love the aesthetic.
Not worrying about weapons makes Monk cooler. My body is classified as cold iron, silver, magical, adamantine, and lawful.
it's not fun though. granted it might be more fun in an action game than ttg-vidya, but most monks play the same as everyone else just with less shit.
No, it's extreme fun. I still wish the gauntlets in Nioh 2 gave you a dropkick, I hope if DD2 has monks they get a dropkick.
seems like we have 2 different ideas of "monk" classes because nioh gauntlets are not "monk" stuff they're pugilist stuff.
>being this much a pedantic homosexual
Name ten action games with barehanded monks. Also puglists are barehanded.
any dnd game you dumb homosexual
Action games moron, you're the one that said they all play the same in action games.
>hurr dey jus punc
your (nearly) exact words
>hurr dey jus swing dey sword
>hurr dey jus shoot fireball
Part of makes Dragon Dogma so good is that the classes do things better and cooler. Thank God you have zero say in what happens in DD2.
Wrong. Pugilists in Pathfinder are barehanded and do not get weapons, Monks get like five monk specific weapons lmao.
>bbbbut my homebrew says pugilists get knuckles and pipes and guns
dont care
The first image into most people's head when they think of pugilist is probably something like pic related.
>Thank God you have zero say in what happens in DD2.

Stat growth system that isn't shit
Combat that's basically a better balanced version of DDON, make it less spammy but the vocation mechanics in that game were amazing
>More gear with cool/unique effects
the only good thought here
DD2 better have Caged Fury with a better glow
What's wrong with the rest?
>frick no, more open world, more villages/npcs
I mean really I want more of both but with how beloved BBI is I really want more of that in DD2 and making fun dungeons is easier than making a fun open world.
>idk if you just want elden flasks but i feel this would just make the game slower with how many large mushrooms i can go through
There should just be less consumable spam in general.
>What's wrong with the rest?
>More dungeon crawling
I'm not entirely opposed but I don't like the implication. DD is an adventure game first. The dungeons are just part of the adventure.
>No more pause menu item spamming
Like the other guy said this could very well slow the game down instead of speeding it up. You can already hotkey consumables anyway.
>A hard mode that isn't shit
I just don't care about meme difficulties.
>Stat growth system that isn't shit
It isn't shit. It's properly geared per vocation and actual gear is most important when swapping.
>Combat that's basically a better balanced version of DDON, make it less spammy but the vocation mechanics in that game were amazing
I never played ddo and some of the additions like swapable skill layouts are good but the gameplay looks like regular mmo schlock. Plus if it means diluting the classes we have for more strict typing I'm not for it at all.
>but the gameplay looks like regular mmo schlock
It's not like DDDA's gameplay is anywhere above that either. You buff up and spam your strongest skill, that's it.
>You buff up and spam your strongest skill, that's it.
Maybe you do. DD gives you options though, and while I didn't play DDO I can say MMO gameplay does no lend itself to ingenuity and the videos we have of DDO reflect that. rotations am homo.
>DD gives you options though
Options are not inherently meaningful unless there's a point to choosing them unless you just want to throw more options at the player so they have more work to do to find the one thing that's actually worth using which, I mean, fair, if that's what you want. But it's not exactly deep once you've solved it.
they add SOVL.
>There should just be less consumable spam in general.
idk i don't get how doing this isn't completely changing the gameplay
like i can only see someone wanting this is for some reason they intentionally gimp themselves and don't want to bring items
How are you supposed to make challenging and engaging encounters when players have access to near infinite instant recovery items?
>challenging and engaging encounters
It's an open world action RPG, it's not supposed to be particularly challenging or mechanically deep, the focus should be on immersion and role playing. Things should be relatively tense but you shouldn't be dying regularly unless you're fighting something way out of your league. Also DD's combat mechanics don't really let you consistently avoid damage anyway, so it's really more about managing your resources. If you go out of your way to get shittons of healing items the game shouldn't get in your way and prevent you from using them as much as you want.
uhh.. weight? money? time?
Why make an action RPG instead of a classical RPG if encounters come down to pure numbers and the items in your inventory instead of player skill?
Why make an RPG instead of an action game if only skill should matter?
DD strikes a perfect balance of RPG elements and real time action, but an RPG should never be overly reliant on pure mechanical skill. They should be just as much about stats, items, etc
Sometimes encounters are just gonna come down to preparation and having enough supplies to outlast an enemy and that's fine, that's the difference between an action game and an RPG
the combat is fun
>classical RPG
Japan doesn't make those
>if encounters come down to pure numbers
Because if that had no impact then it wouldn't be an RPG. It sounds like you're just not a fan of Action RPGs.
>It sounds like you're just not a fan of Action RPGs.
I'm honestly not because they almost always just end up being either really janky and bad action games, or RPGs with pointless extra steps. DD somehow manages to be both depending on how far in you are.
>More dungeon crawling
frick no, more open world, more villages/npcs
i want more events than running into the same woman in the same goblin cage, and more pawns on the road
>No more pause menu item spamming
idk if you just want elden flasks but i feel this would just make the game slower with how many large mushrooms i can go through
DDO did get rid of menu healing and gave you a hotbar instead. It was still instant/free, but there was a hard quantity limit on each type of item you could carry because you were actually supposed to rely on healer classes to heal and recover stamina instead of replacing them with consumables.
No multiplayer
More enemy variety

Can I play as a magic archer even if I played melee and normal archery vocations for the entire game? Or my magic damage stat would be too low? I would use daggers not staffs
You can but you're just gonna hit like a wet noodle.
You can play whatever you want to.
>Can I play as a magic archer even if I played melee and normal archery vocations for the entire game?
I say yes, your tism might say no. You'd be wrong but still.
>it’s just 15% bro, get this endgame weapon
Every point of damage matters when enemies can be functionally immune to your damage if you don’t deal enough. Of course it won’t matter if you have a fully upgraded weapon or grind to 200.
>go to BBI at lvl 60-70
>Have done some everfall/post-grigori gransys before that
>you now have a dragonforged weapon due to multiple dragons around the map and everfall
>run through BBI
>With a properly set up party you will do damage
>Level up from all the kills, potentially find a better weapon
>By lvl 90 you won't even notice not having leveled anything else
>proceed from there
Not sure how you're not doing damage at 120, much less if you leveled as assassin. I am entirely convinced everyone that thinks you have to min-max is just not good at the game. If you really struggle that much then go solo, equip the solo augment, the warrior strength augment and the fighter strength augment. I did a solo run with assassin at lvl 60 with the sword from grigori all the way to daimon and had no trouble whatsoever
Every attack and skill has its own base attack value, your base attack power isn’t the end all be all for how much damage you are going to do. A single periapt closes the min maxing gap and then some. Also I don’t think enemy defense values are as high as you think they are.
I played as a warrior for 90 levels, and I have nearly 4k hp, my pawn that has been a sorcerer since level 10 only has around 2k.
Surely it makes a VERY noticeable difference.
>getting hit
ngmi
Your pawn also has more stamina than you and takes significantly less damage from magic attacks so it all depends~
Only on Hard, Sorcerers will suffer from being OTK for a long time.
Shit, even looking at the 200 innate magick stat with a gold forged Dragon's Breath and you are over the threshold to dead damage to Daimon 2 if the wiki is to be believed. And that is with magic bows specifically that have pretty shit magic power in general compared to staves and archistaves. Shit, that is also before counting augments! Soon as you get any of the level 2/3 BBI weapons and upgrade them you're more than fine regardless of your base stats.
Sure is a lot of b***hing about numbers without anyone actually doing any basic fricking math.
the little bit of damage less you're going to do are negligible. Take appropriate elemental skills and voila, a dead elder ogre
immolation uses melee attack so you will do shit bow damage but obscene burn damage
The game is easy enough you will still do fine so long as you're meeting the arbitrary cutoffs for defense on each monster. BBI will probably be painful until you get some good gear. But yes there will be a pretty large gap between the damage you're doing as a magic archer and as physical classes.
what are some great mods?
alchemist from online is a monk with enough feedback that it doesn't just feel like blunt damage daggers
I think alchemist is kinda cool as a thing but I'm curious how much of DDON even gets transferred. I know the gameplay guys are coming over but I don't think Itsuno said even a word about DDON when it existed.
I'm moronic. I'm trying to use indominable lunge on warrior and for some reason it barely goes any distance? I'm not cancelling it with jump, is there something I'm not doing right? I feel like a fricking moron.
It's been forever since I've played but you might have to literally just hold down the button lol
I think I'm just fricked. I modded warrior but I thought I replaced all the old files but I guess not? Frick man.
What level should I be for BBI
Started it at 54, and I can’t deal much damage
you'll typically want dragon/post game weapons to deal with the new mobs
I have the chilling daggers which seem post game but I haven’t played in years
they are but magic weapons are bad since their split damage gets reduced by def and mdef, you want either the dragon's vein or dragon's pain
also magic weapon's magic damage doesn't scale with your magic stat like your stats page says they're worse than they look
I started earlier because its fun to struggle
Killed ur dragon for first time cool
Who is your spouse in the game?
Sweet Quina of course.

sorry anon, but you're gonna have to choose only one
i knew of selene but wtf somehow i must have missed madeleine's last quest across several playthroughs, never knew she could move there
thanks
Madeleine's last quest is easy to miss, and once started must be completed or she disapear.
it's like the guy by the beach who asks for herb, you gottastart that quest at a precise moment in the story.
By the point her quest starts, you don't need madeleine's shop anymore, unless you were too poor to afford all the golden idol items(which is understandable, as their fricking costly)

Nah, but I did remember there was a gem I'd missed in the Bloodless Stockade
You do play catch with your pawn, right, anon?
It's not as fun when it's just two of you
good trap/cute boy sliders for Dragon's Dogma like pic related? saw another anon mention it in the last thread.
No, You're just moronic.
Not that I particular like the idea of threshholds for even dealing damage.
Got grace.
Finally I am as fashionable as my pawn.
Lvl 75 btw
Maelstrom one shot almost every single room in bbi, equip that and no other offensive spells, anyway she just needs voidspell and holy pact to be good.
If you put bolide on her, i'll replace one of my slot for her, i've been meaning to make a bolide multicast party for fun, she needs the grand version.
lmao this one showed up without even searching I just needed a sorc probably will use them
just killed grigori In offline mode, did I miss out on anything?
you don't get the armor set and online gives you 4 total weapons instead of 1 from a bigger pool
nah grigs doesn't have any on/offline differences. just urdy and the seneschal.
I have played through the entire game in offline mode, should I change to online now? My pawn still had the princess set due to best stats, why the frick does the game give you something 5 hours in that lasts you 50 more
I don't know but I refuse lower myself to the tiers of all the pawns I see and put it on my pawn
>My pawn still had the princess set due to best stats
well in that case stay in offline.
>grigori
i read grigori as Ur since grace is now, ignore i'm moronic
Today I stepped outside and the clouds looked pretty similar to me
The wind keeps blowing against me
I’m too free
Is today the day I finally mod DD for a final playthrough?
Anyone have any issues using the nexus with mods loaded and getting banned?
Is there a mod for having 3 of my own pawns so I don't have to search for decent ones anymore?
Unlikely
Trying out rusted weapons on her while farming BBI, feel free to grab
swap out the rusted shield
perfect blacks inflict topor too, is it not worth it?
I think pic related is the big issue with Rusted+Knockdown. She was struggling to get knockdowns on Eliminators on Normal mode - she eventually launched them after a while but it took several uses of Dragon's Maw. She probably has even worse Stamina consumption than the average Dragon's Maw spammer since she's not doing damage.
Steel Will is good for tankiness, but it also gives her more downtime.
I think I agree with
and say swap the Rusted Shield for something with better stability if you're not going to use Cymbal Assault to apply Torpor. Also drop Divine Defense.
Awesome thanks for the tips, I'll do just that.
>do no damage
>quadruple your current damage
>now do damage
WHOAAAA BRO NO WAY???!!?
The damage calculation is literally basic addition. If your attack stat isn't higher than the enemy defense you do nothing. Yes it's moronic.
No, its not moronic and you cant explain why its bad other than you watched some shitty youtube vid of a homosexual crying cause he couldnt beat the ogre in the everfall
>level 120 something assassin
>playing through BBI
>do literally zero damage to multiple enemies even with magic weapons and pawn buffs because you cannot meet magic defense cutoffs even when grossly over leveled and can do nothing but stand around like a moron waiting for pawns to do something
yeah nah i love this game but the defense system is fricked up, you shouldn't need to chug potions and peridots to meet thresholds just to do damage
Two things I'm sure are carrying over from DDO are
>no mary sue hybrid classes
>no party composition check enemies
Golems could be hurt by magic and Living Armors could be killed as a pure melee in DDO.
Also, your weapon's attack(really an armor penetration rating) was separate from core strength/magic.
>homogenization is a good thing :^)
no
>make every class unique
>noo it's homogenized
based moron
>>make every class unique
>when you remove the unique classes
>and flanderize the rest
lol
You make your own pawn and can hire 2 more. Offline they're premade scrubs, online you can hire pawns made by others.
Thank you, sounds good
what the frick does flanderize mean? is this some sort of moronic zoomerspeak
yikes, ironic
oof even
it's actually boomerspeak.
Flanderize is a term for a character being reduced to a base joke or concept when they used to have more to them. Ned Flanders from the Simpsons was a more developed character before they just dumbed him down to "out of touch church guy."
>Flanderize is a term for a character being reduced to a base joke or concept when they used to have more to them.
seeker gameplay videos for DDO are almost all super not!helmsplitter spam. I'd say that fits this bill.
Sorry anon, meant to explain it to the other guy asking about it, responded to the wrong person because I am an idiot. No jape here.
s'okay BB.
>make every class unique by dismantling the unique classes and giving everyone lukewarm versions of their abilities
lmao
>make every class unique
The vocations aren't supposed to be equal, the hybrid vocations are meant to be stronger and more versatile than the rest, that's why you have to unlock them, and why only the arisen gets them
Basic vocations are for progression and pawns
Frick your homogenization bullshit
Basic vocations sure
But there's nothing the hybrid classes do that really overlaps with Ranger or Sorcerer's strengths
>The vocations aren't supposed to be equal, the hybrid vocations are meant to be stronger and more versatile than the rest, that's why you have to unlock them,
LMAO what? And yet warrior has to be unlocked but strider doesn't. You're talking out of your fricking ass here
I don't know where you got this from
>But striders are absloutely nuts and have some of the best damage in the game, core vocation
>Rangers also have nuts DPS with tenfold and option blast arrows, easier to unlock than hybrids
>MA only really gets powerful later and they had to make their stat growth less sucky in DA
>Warriors notoriously suck but need to be unlocked
>Fighters are a strong vocation with i-frames for days
Barring warrior and mage, the vocations ARE mostly equal. Some are more versatile but they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Stop making shit up
>Fighters are a strong vocation
lol
They are, anon. Get good at the game.
yes.
l2pblock
dragon maw compared to brainsplitter is less damage but aoe and invincible the whole time
Making the game good is a good thing (by definition). If you didn't play DDO, your opinion is literally outdated and in poor taste.
point me to Itsuno giving one iota of a shit about DDO
I think the hybrids are cool, they just need to give the other classes unique shit too. MK shouldn't have gotten all of the good fighter sword attacks and dagger should have made the other attacks maybe worth a shit compared to thousand kisses so all the dagger classes wouldn't feel samey
helmsplitter shits on thousand kisses, generally speaking.
I'd say imolation is also stronger, i've always had a hard time choosing my skills on daggers as MA cause you've got a few great choices.
I think game encouraging you to actually have a diverse party is cool and should stay and I will die on this hill.
its gay and the game should be balanced around playing solo warrior
Go play your elden shit.
I like the IDEA of it but in practice pawn AI is garbage and when you need the one guy in your party to do something it means he isn't going to do it in a timely manner.
agreed, but the pawns are a little too unreliable for some situations
DD2 should have a system where you can take control of a pawn for like a minute once a day, just so you can shoot a metal golem's medal
>encouraging you to actually have a diverse party is cool and should stay
Correct.
But in practice, you usually run into what
said. If they want this to be a thing, pawn's need to not be programmed as morons on purpose, otherwise mary sue classes like the hybrids are necessary since the player's action economy and combat intelligence are so much higher than a pawn's that having to fully rely on them to do anything grinds combat to a halt and drags it down.
If they wanted pawn AI to simulate online play, the simulated experience I get is that of being in a party of absolute shitters and wondering why I even bothered getting online in the first place. If I'm going to fail anyways, I'd rather fail solo.
I forgot to tag your post No. in my reply. MB
It's probably been said a thousand times before but literally just give DD2 the radial menu from the last couple Monster Hunter games for consumables and yelling at pawns to get their shit together
I share you viewpoint, but only because I'm a bad enough dude to figure out solutions with locked parties or when solo.
>I have no fricking idea of what I'm talking: The Post
>DDO
>no mary sue hybrid classes
DDO had hybrid classes though
Mystic Knight and Magic Archer are there, just without melee weapons, Spirit Lancer is a hybrid melee+magic class, and arguably so is Alchemist.
(self)Correction time:
DDO did have hybrids, but not in the sense that you're saying (which is the DDDA sense of melee/rogue/mage roles). DDO's hybrids were mixtures of dps/healer/tank trinity roles. Elemental Archer was a healer+magic dps, Lancer was a healer+melee dps, Alchemist was a Tank+dps (I can't remember if Alch scaled strength, magic, or both). I know I'm being pedantic, but that's the way it was.
My point in saying no mary sues/hybrids was that the game didn't design vocations to be hardwalled by certain matchups like DDDA did. All jobs were given equal attention in terms of self defense/mobility/dodge, anti-air or range (technically Skyward Lash EX was both), mounting attacks, frame resets/animation cancels and knockdown utility in addition to their usual skills.
The effect was that every vocation felt very complete and worth running on its own, unlike say DDDA Fighter which has one shitty anti air, no mounting attacks or range, but all the knockdown utility in the world for some reason. It just has obvious holes and can get locked out easily by certain enemies, like fliers, or ghosts. DDO Fighter (or Warrior for that matter) would absolutely shit on DDDA content with its kit: it was simply the ubermensch form of fighter.
Basically, I just want every job to have a thoroughly designed kit like they did in DDO. The way DDDA does it, everyone ends up gravitating to the same classes (hybrids, and I guess Sorcerer sometimes) because the other classes have to rely on the shitty pawn AI to fill in the gaps. In DDO, everyone played what they wanted because no matter what they picked, the gameplay was different and fun compared to everything else but it still had the necessary tools to answer every situation you'd face.
This
But you're the first Anon who's ever said it (that I've seen).
>DDO's hybrids were mixtures of dps/healer/tank trinity roles
Stopped reading your post there, that shit should never come to DD
DD2 won't be an mmo so I really don't expect the trinity at all (nor do I want it either). But do expect your consumables to be limited to make way for healers in your party comp.
It's not like DDO jobs were mary sues either.
Fighter and Warrior had no magic or ranged attacks but still had anti air and mounting attacks. They could perfect block or hyperarmor with DR but had no dodge roll. Warrior had an animation cancel with DR and rage. Fighter could reset from stagger with compass slash (and compass slash only gave i frames if used to reset a stagger).
Meanwhile, Sorcerer and Priest had a floaty backhop with iframes and no mounting active skills because why the frick would they need one? They cast magic from range. Ranged magic already answers the problem of tall monsters and fliers, it's just that Fighter and Warrior were given different answers to the same question so they still play differently without getting hardwalled. That's my point.
>It's just shitty in an MMO where switching vocations might involve hundreds of hours of grind to get back to the same level of strength.
Shitty in an MMO, yes, but don't forget that "roleplaying" is still part of ARPG. Being forced to play a job that isn't part of your character concept just to get through content is also a shitty experience and would detrimentally pertain more to a story-driven singleplayer experience like DDDA (and DD2).
>All jobs were given equal attention in terms of self defense/mobility/dodge, anti-air or range (technically Skyward Lash EX was both), mounting attacks, frame resets/animation cancels and knockdown utility in addition to their usual skills
Then what's the difference between them? Sounds to me like they're all just going to feel the exact same with no distinct strengths or weaknesses. Certain vocations being utterly helpless in the wrong situation is great in a role playing game. It's just shitty in an MMO where switching vocations might involve hundreds of hours of grind to get back to the same level of strength.
>The way DDDA does it, everyone ends up gravitating to the same classes (hybrids, and I guess Sorcerer sometimes) because the other classes have to rely on the shitty pawn AI to fill in the gaps.
There's nothing wrong with that though because those classes are also the most fun in the game. Making them the strongest classes on top of that just makes them feel even more rewarding and validating.
Balance doesn't belong in a single player RPG.
People gravitate towards those classes for the solely because pawns cannot be those classes. Just because of this hybrid class = main character class.
Sorc being the op focused bolt spamming cheese machine grants him the exception.
If pawns could take all vocations it would not be the case.
>If pawns could take all vocations it would not be the case.
And that would also make the hybrid vocations feel a lot less special.
Again, there is nothing wrong with the vocations in DDDA. They're not meant to be equal.
>it's moronic that the game doesn't let me chip away at a monster for an hour with a weak weapon and instead tries to make me use my brain by showing me it's not working
doing the cassardis well quest with the rusty sword, then doing it again with the trusty sword you can just grab from the cassardis shop/reynard really showed me how much gear mattered
So if the dragon was once an Arisen, who was Urdy? The first Arisen?
Urdy is eternal
Since he gains health as time (generations) go by maybe he's a culmination of all past dragons.
ur dragons are made out of the corpses of arisen godsbaning for loot
"Ur" is just "original". he's either the first arisen or the dragon template.
Where are the good ps4 pawns?
define good
Mine's decent enough, I'd like to think. What are you looking for?
For me, it's arc of deliverance.
Grand spells = brine
e-girl = brine
Princess dress = brine
Shield skills on fighter = brine
>1/4
must suck to be this much of a nerd.
Pawns isn't aggressive and smug in his speech = right to brine, right away
my pawn is the greatest shield user ever u will go to brine them and just GET KNOCKED OFF THE SHIELD
I will never get rid of Shield Drum. You can't stop me.
ur a dargon
Is Hunter Bolt good? I find it fun but that usually means it's dogshit
Also what the frick is up with BBI
>finally strong enough to take out the wolves at the start
>go a bit further
>bunch of goblins
>Grim Reaper shows up and just leaves
???
Never played Dragon's Dogma. Hiw does this pawn system work? Do I make my own group? Do I randomly find npcs who can join me? I'm having an intense urge to try it but I'm not sure.
yes
You make one that's your personal pawn. You can find random ones walking around to hire or use the pawn stone to find some, these are pawns other people have made. You can have up to 2, for a max party size of 4 (you, your pawn, 2 rented pawns).
when a hired pawn loots something, does it go to my inventory when they leave or do they actually take it with them?
When buffs are weak, nobody use them. Even with busted buffs, there are people who go from start to finish of DD without using then
You could make consumables required to beat the game and people would rather complain about how hard the game is than use consumables.
For ranger pawn, do I just give it a rusted bow, no daggers, and slot only the arrow rain?
>too weak to win
>buff strength to the maximum
>win
WTF is this shit?!
Honestly though, WHY is this bad? Why does everyone want to level 1 run the whole game? If you are too weak go do other shit to get stronger.
morons forget they are playing an RPG and stats matter.
>1 giant moron
>vs three tiny women armed to the teeth
Who wins?
Being a cyclops is suffering
Unless you belong to Ophis.
The worst part is how Nobody hurts you.
me, the fourth tiny woman who is three seconds away from finishing this cast of grand bolide
>show itsuno acknowledging DDO
I'm counting on his co-director and the innovations he made for DDO.
Whatever we get will be better than DDDA at any rate so I'm not worried.
>I'm counting on his co-director and the innovations he made for DDO.
And I'm betting he's relegated to support and we've got no idea on Itsuno's thoughts on the BBI/DDO direction. However
>Whatever we get will be better than DDDA at any rate so I'm not worried.
On that we agree.
It's similar to YS like that
>mfw I just realized I can hire a 2nd [third] pawn
Only took 10 hours.
Someone gonna tell him?
Dragon's Dogma Deadly Alliance
I WILL keep pummeling gorecyclopes' taint and never learn what their thing is
You climb up to his helmet and hit it's dot to unhinge it. Not as funny as watching him fight the geometry.
>see this
What do?
Press WASD to ejaculate.
REMINDER THAT YOU CAN GIVE YOUR WRYMKING AS A GIFT AND BUY ANOTHER ONE AT THE BLACKCAT
pls someone gimmie
sent
>he didn't pirate the ring
wumao
I already gift it to majority of sorc/mage pawns I hire here
.
>>don't deal any damage to enemy whatsoever, even when climbed on head and doing Thousand Kisses
well its your own fault for using rusted knives that are not golden dragon forged
>Does minimal damage, pretending it's "literally nothing lol lmao i don't know what words mean"
>increase str by 2 times
>WHOA WTF WHY DO I DO SO MUCH DAMAGE???
bravo nolan
Why do people hate Magick Agent? My pawn barely uses it in the first place and I've never seen her use it over anything else in battle.
My pawn's at lv110 which seems pretty high. Should I just brine her to keep her from leveling at this point? I don't want her to go too high and lock myself out of hires.
No
why bother? What do you need RC for at all unless you want a pair of glasses or something?
>bandits are weak to dark and resistant to holy
>pawn knowledge stars have to deal with killing a certain number them, understandable
>also freeze then break them and lightning stun them
I literally never would have gotten this.
are weak to dark and resistant to holy
that's just humans
How do I stop my pawns from getting SCYTHED by Death?
Can't
Have you heard about our Lord and Savior blastarrows?
>press f2
>they come
unless you're actively fighting him without cheese, then gl
If you want to preserve your pawns, only engage Death when you're playing a vocation that can safely and consistently stunlock him (like the yellows) until he either dies or fricks off. Any other time? Run the frick away while spamming the Come! command.
go strider
get full power shot
get either explosive arrows or that bullshit 1hit kill arrow
kill death when it spawns outside of the bridge
if you cant to that
span explosive 5way shots into his fricking ass
That's useless advice for when playing with pawns
full power shot works better cause it uses less blast arrows
That's one specific location, pre-Daimon and for the first time death appears only.
first time death appears is on this location
Are we being raided by ESLs?
Has anyone ever killed death with a normal weapon? It's always blast arrows
Stack up periapts, charge that arc of deliverance, and if you are quick enough you can send him flying before he scythes anyone. After a second time he tends to frick off.
>he needs a weapon
Isn't Death immune to it's own finger?
can't you just walk out of the sleep aoe, then walk back in and pick up your pawn..?
when i solo'd him i found out the sleep effect doesn't last more than a couple seconds after the smoke appears
The sleep attack isn't always the problem, the pawns are bad at maintaining distance from the scythe even if you're moving away from it. And you running in to grab/wake up sleeping pawns means your unaffected pawns will follow you in and probably get scythe'd
what are the best skills for magick archer? got assassin and warrior vocations maxed out so i'd like to try it out
personally I enjoy setting myself on fire and hugging enemies, aside from that ricochet arrow is really fun indoors
Personally I go with
>kisses, immolation and either shadow shackle or the fire jump on dagger
>Sixfold, ricochet and the explosive arrows on bow
So far I have yet to see any good damage come out of the holy skills that MA has
Ricochet for cramped areas
Explosive rivet is good for fricking shit up if you have a melee pawn, can combine with Vortex trail to quickly kill crowds, more effective than hunter bolt unless you are fighting undead
Grand scension is alrigt too, it can damage multiple points when used against larger enemies
I run 6/9 Fold Bolt, Hunter Bolt and Explosive Rivet/Volley for bow skills. People love Ricochet Hunter but it's slightly too niche for me
For daggers I run Immolation, Magick Rebalancer and Instant Reset
I haven't tested it yet, but a good combo when playing with a staff as well could be pulling enemies in with vortex trail, then using comestion or other AOEs to finish off a group of enemies
What's the legitimate way to fight the Prisoner Gorecyclops? I tried just slashing away at his legs and fighting normally but this butthole just keeps raging and flailing around killing my pawns, so I just walk into a narrow corridor and Great Cannon him to death now.
>What's the legitimate way to fight the Prisoner Gorecyclops?
The way that keeps you alive while killing him. BBI wasn't made to be "legitimate" relative to the main games definition.
MK has it easy, Lightning Riposte on its mace slam down can make him kneel with enough knockdown power (Emphasis from Sorc helps).
Take off his helmet (preferrably while he's still restrained) and then stab him in the eye. It's much easier with torpor and a strider.
Pummel their nuts
what
said, hitting around the back of their neck makes the helmet fall off
but every time i try that they always spam reaching behind their head to grab me anyways so i just hit the dick
Isn't that devilsbane I see in the ss? There's no way you could be struggling.
Literally just torpor, enchant with abyssal anguish and hack away with Full Moon. Frost enchantment optional.
Ez cyclops kill.
That's Dragon's Dogma™. I do have Devilsbane now and I'm like 20 levels higher than the screenshot so they're not much of an issue anymore, but at the time, they were just this massive brick wall of health.
I set off explosives at his feet until he falls over then dire gouge his face out.
Few pawns are good enough to be in my party
>say jape right now
We heard you 'ave japes!
Give em!
My japes are too strong for you, traveler
Imagine the stench of an inn full of shortstack goblins.
Made Asalam my husband. He was in all the Gregori cut scenes. I saved him and he left Gran Siren and lives in my home in Cassadris. Also he charges me 500g to use my own fricking bed.
Are we going to see fantasy races in DD2? Elves, orcs, dwarves, beastmen, and the like?
Don't know if I want that in any way other than enemies
The idea was being thrown around during the planning stage of the OG DD. Who knows? Maybe they'll revisit the concept.
There are beastmen though, one gives you a quest to explore the catacombs.
>Why does doing Str x16 suddenly make bosses melt?
I don't know anon, you tell me.
>people hire my pawn
>no comments, no ratings
Probably a trip to BBI gone wrong. Get used to it
If it's a 3 star no comment no gift, likely she fell off a cliff or something like that
>Dahlia
More like Diavolo
For level 85 her attack sucks
Find some better weapons and I will hire (if on pc)
My ranger pawn does the same and I know fricking why. For some reason she has it ingrained to find any edge and stand there. If the Dragon is about to land she tries to catch it. Ffs I don't know what to do, she's a scather but she's moronic.
Could be worse I guess, I hired one pawn and she kept getting stuck in terrain. No idea what magic combination of skills led to that. I have up on her about the third time she wedged herself into a wall. Only pawn I've ever seen do it.
>Was something like level 150 on proper playing
>Felt I'd be too strong if I switched to anything else so decided to grind for 200 and then start again
>Get bored and stop
Maybe I was just burnt out after 100 hours or starting again was the wrong call or Magick Archer is too fun and the rest are inferior.
Post your fashion
Where do you get that chestplate?
Clothing, hard leather plate, sold in shops
DD's photo mode is horrible. Hopefully 2's will be more like MHW's or Rise's.
is DD not where capcom started adding these photo modes?
I don't know. Probably? It was all uphill from DD either way, so I bet 2 will have a really, really good photo mode. Here's hoping.
Changed up my pawn from believable fighter to edgy savage. I think I'll keep her like this.
I'm not really set on the chimaeric half-plate I'm wearing though. Ideally I'm looking for something fully plated or something that blends well enough to look like it.
Any ideas?
>friend tells me about online boss
>somehow come across online boss 3 hours ago
>boss got no health
>boss dies
>2 level ups
>holy weapons and abyss armor loot
Feels good.
Did I miss the fast travel system in this game?
I made it to the capital and there're quests that send me to starter village and Witchwood. Also apparently there's extra board quests in the village too.
Do I have to walk there every time?
the fast travel system is just portcrystals you have to place yourself. you'll start getting them later. for now you walk. almost used "two feet and a heartbeat" but that's not very applicable rn.
What the frick is this shit, is there at least a way to check noticeboards remotely?
sorry zoomy. if it makes you feel any better you get 5 portcrystals your first playthrough in DA instead of 1 :^)
when you got to gran soren you should've gotten an infinite use ferrystone in your storage
there's a portcrystal ring in gran soren, bitterblack, and outside cassardis' gates that let you always warp there
you get portable ones to place and collect later
Do the quest that takes you into the Everfall. You have to run all the way to the bottom and you'll pick up your first port crystal.
Placing it somewhere in between Gran Soren and Witchwood is a good start.
Will this lock me out of side quests? I assume it's the main quest.
it locks you out of lost and found if that's what you're asking
lore-wise, that's the most insane item that Mountebank is able to perfectly duplicate?
Blessed flower
https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Blessed_Flower
This thing is literally made by Qina as part of her study as a miracle god healer.
And it can be perfectly replicated - with all of the magic effects - by some dude in an alleyway.
>Blessed Flower isn't anything special, it just seems that way to a podunk fishing village and an abbey in the middle of nowhere
>Mason uses his influence to get her into the Grand Cathedral because he's a nice guy
>She finds out that she is grossly outclassed by literally everyone
>Goes back home completely dejected
You can show it to any head priest/nun in Gransys and they all shit bricks over it. The head one in Gran Soren even says he thinks the top nun will want to see it.
It doesn't make sense, does it? Apparently he can also forge Wroth Masks. For a long time I had no idea, I figured they'd be useless, but no they work 100%.
What's the logic behind him being unable to forge the Wyrmking's Ring, Salomet's Tome, and portcrystals?
It also doesn't make sense that he can seemingly copy the blessing on Quina's flowers but can't copy whatever is special with the Idols. Do you think Mountebank works at Capcom?
What level should I be when I fight the lich+dragon in bbi? I remember it being a b***h of a fight, but when I attempted it as a lvl 58 sorcerer(without any decent dark spells unlocked) he took like no damage then instantly killed all of us with a single holy spell(which he managed to cast while everyone was beating the shit out of him)
>room with 2 gorecyclopses
>pawns free one
>then go and free the other one
cool I guess...
scatherbros we got another one
haha imagine if you could change other people's pawns' inclinations
I would spam acquisitor potions on every pawn I rented.
>pawns gain scather if you fight things
>they lose it if you don't fight things
who thought this was a good way to determine an inclination?
Pawns learning how to counter monsters is cool but inclinations should've had a way to lock them in
Ain't nobody got a 1-110 level mage to pimp? I'd teach them good
>pawn's armor effects still work even if he isnt a party member
god I love this game
What's the "make everyone shoot lightning" spell?
It's the best thing in the game to melt any big butthole and I only rarely see it
Fulmination
thank
Should i max out fighter first before moving on to assasin?
how close?
I'm about half way, i just made it to Gran Soren
Based but I meant how close are you to max fighter.
T-That was what i meant
Oh so i should level warrior aswell then?
At some point probably but it doesn't really make a difference when you do it
>T-That was what i meant
Ah I guess the moron is me. If you don't hate fighter then yeah just max it real quick. If you're bored as hell though switching is no biggy.
I'm not having a bad time as a fighter but assasin just looks like alot of fun.
I'll give warrior a shot after i max fighter and if i enjoy it i'll max it too.
Yes, if only for Sinew and Vehemence.
Fighter and Warrior both have good augments in general for other classes
Take a one level dip into warrior for the first augment
updated with some proper weapons this time, if you hire her let me know how she does
Can anyone post the location of that wight in cursewood? The wiki says there is one but I cannot find it anywhere, yes I'm going at night, can't see shit cap'n.
After Seneschal do i have to go new game+?
Yes. Or just sit around on the throne for however long you want.
Ohh shit i fricked up, i'll never finish bitterblack isle then.
Nah. Just do BBI on NG+.
best moves for archer?
shoot a lot of arrows
Deathly Arrow, tenfold flurry, then a floater for the 3rd is how I like to roll. I like spiral arrow for easy sleep setups but it's up to you.
Pawn?
Tenfold
Tenfold
Tenfold
Actual sociopath right here
EASY 100K+ RAPE CORRECTIONS EVERY NG+
200k I think.
Who Infinte Cringe here?
Idol forgeries still give discounts which is more important than the stock unlocked by the original. I'm still giving Caxton and Madeleine bronze and keeping the real golden and silver for myself.
yeah but it's almost 4 pounds man.
You're not supposed to carry it around all the time.
I don't anymore. I don't even take it out the bank much.
based. I just grugged with it until I realized I was heavy as shit. started off loading and noticed that fat bastards weight for the first time.
didn't actually think of this one though. not like it would be the only thing I gave her to hold.
>arisen with sinew
>main pawn with sinew
I don't even consider banking it and just lug around half of my bank at any given time.
>Tfw walking into Bitterblack Isle with nearly 200 dynamite arrows
Literally me, but this time I just used my amazon pawn as a rift bank for throwblasts to early cheese cursed dragons. Next playthrough will be a different non-amazon pawn so it's back to carrylets.
Multiply the hilarity with Leg Strength
just give it to your pawn
4 lbs shouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things, unless you are a degenerate with a e-girl pawn
Plus pawns will teleport to your position from time to time, so it's not like they really suffer for being at higher encumbrances unless they're specifically a climber.
Can she be replicated in this game?
There's no eye covers, save for an eyepatch.
And I don't think there's much lightweight black clothing like she has.
Best you can do is Black Gaiters, Bandages and maybe a Feather Cape.
what
i thought peripats gave you x4 if you eat 4 of them
it's 20% per. So about 2.1x after 4
All this time and I remained ignorant. Thank you.
>stack dmg buffs
>deals more dmg
woah, owie my head this is so complex
>more than 500 hours
>never finished new game plus
Hoping they do something about that in 2. Shit becomes so piss easy that it's not fun so I never completed it.
THE TAIL IS SEVERED!
Your non-buffed damage is lower than the enemy's defense rating. Simply upgrade your gear or get new gear.
So if I fail a escort quest I can never retry it?
>Fighting a troll
>It died dropkicking my pawn off a cliff
Lmao
This game would be amazingly better if it had Coop
i disagree, but i think coop in a limited capacity will exist in DD2. i hope it is good and does not make pawns useless.
How do I make Magic Archer not suck?
Are you using Immolation, Hundred Kisses, Sixfold Bolt, Magical Gleam or Ricochet bolts?
If you're not, that's why.
if you are. Then you suck, not MA.
Have you tried equipping the magick bow?
use the vortex arrow and then holy scension. it's fricking awesome
holy frick lads I can safely say after year or two of not playing and my pawn being rented, they can safely safe you from a chest worm
You mean a mimic?
>chest worm
fricking hell
Are you safely sure you can get safely safe from a chest worm?
>chest worm
lol no
maybe if your pawns are all sorcerers and are about to use dark focused bolt
>Change pawn to e-girl
>Getting rents all of the day day
>Returns from another realm with chest worms
Frens, how do I save pawn from die?
Are sorcerer pawns just bad vs gorecyclops or am I doing something wrong? It seems like it swings and moves so wildly that the pawn can never get a cast off because they are running away or getting knocked out
Knock gorecyclopes down, gives your caster time to unleash hell.
Please add actual fast travel and not that shitty portcrystal garbage. Also remove stamina depletion based off my weight outside of combat so I'm not running out of breath every 10 secs when I'm just exploring or better yet add a fricking horse like any other sane game dev would. Like seriously immersiongays can go frick themselves, if you wanna waste your own time trekking for hours on foot that's fine but don't expect me to waste mine. Also stop level scaling enemies based on the area and based it off their actual race. Normal wolves shouldn't be fricking me up at endgame level areas. Literally would've made dragon's dogma the perfect game.
There... There is no level scaling anon. You're just shit at the game
the portcrystal system is the best fast travel method I'ev ever seen in a game. great mix of player agency and convenience. just use it properly and the whole map is easily accessible
losing stamina while running is indeed shit but easily moddable
mounts are only needed for large world maps, which Dragon's Dogma doesn't have and frankly doesn't need. you can go from a well placed portcrystal to any corner of the map in less than 3 minutes
there's no level scaling
>or better yet add a fricking horse
You only want that because elden rehash did it 🙂 Die in a fire.
>add a fricking horse
it would be neat if you can mount one of the big monsters for fast travel, maybe adding a creature that follows you like the pawn that can copy and transform into one of those monsters and you can summon it anytime, but it needs to level up so you can get better creatures
>missed TWO graces in TWO days
It's not fricking fair. On the other hand, got a frick ton of RC and BBI Level 3 stuff from various anons, so thanks.
how much rc is 14 cursed dragons on hard + weal anyways
about 10% right? they give me 500k each
i have no idea how much i'm sending
>Gazer didn't drop an abyssal eye
Well guess I'm fricked out of easy rancid bait meat until post-daimon.
Anybody who unironically thinks you shouldn't have horses in any open world fantasy RPG, 100 percent hasn't had sex, much less go outside. Suicide is always an option, don't the israelites tell you otherwise.
