It's about negating the usual arguments regarding Free Updates: people giving excuses in regards to timing and quality due to a perception that the devs are releasing such things from a place of enjoyment and altruism. That hinges on the idea that they aren't experiencing/will not experience cash flow beyond new copies sold, and that's simply not the case for DRG. Not only has each season been well-funded in advanced by an ever-growing hoard of micro-DLC, but as others have alleged, it's almost like seasons exist for the DLC at this point, rather than being something they can continue to do from "donation-DLC"
As such, there is no argument in my post to be had about a single individual buying DLC or not, or whether they feel they have to or not, or whether it's optional or not. That's all irrelevant to the statement at hand. What's being talked about is the fact that that money has changed hands, will continue to change hands, and that the opportunities to spend money have grown to a ridiculous extent that simply won't stop, because it's a money machine. That all invalidates the excuses given regarding free content, as they only involve something done for free, not received for free.
The only way to make your shit relevant is to go the angle of "who cares, ignore it," but that just leads to disengaging from either side of the argument, so one with that stance should've just stayed out of it to begin with

I only hope they shake things up seriously with season 5. I can give them a pass this time, but they have to raise the stakes

Most of the content in critical corruption (the new wienerpox enemies) should have been there from the start, the corruptor is fine to be in its own season and same with the new normal enemies but the amount of things they're bragging about being in the update genuinely are way too barebones.
Bugfixes are expected, weapon balance tweaks are expected, no one should be bragging about delivering something that should have been on the docket 8 months ago, the powerup system is shallow and should not have been just jet boots, adding new music and voice lines are just a thing that happens and not bragworthy, same with QoL features like input buffering or loadout copy paste or randomize buttons.
Yes they should exist in the patch notes, but most of these things are not spotlight features.

It's honestly a more generalist / efficient autocannon. The loss of not being a hitscan weapon is made up by the better ammo efficiency / ttk on flying enemies, higher burst dps in general thanks to the 72 magsize + rof, more damage overall, ammo efficiency on big swarmer groups, and finally the incredible stopping power of 2.2 radius stunner missiles.
It's also better on elimination / sabotage despite being a primarily aoe build because the sheer rof and better accuracy give it better / more consistent dps vs dreads and the caretaker
i generally cant imagine taking anything but LS^2 to elim, myself but that sounds pretty fun

It helps that the game runs on an absolutely potato PC, and is only 2GB total.

It's literally only a matter of time before they make a biome that no one fricking likes, and I still have mixed feelings about the alternate dreadnaughts. I'm perfectly fine with them adding nothing but cosmetics if it means the core experience of the game doesn't get fricked sideways because they introduced new regular enemies that aren't fun to fight.
Nevermind that the general consensus seems to be that robots and data hunt sucked ass as well (I think they're okay in small doses). Just leave the game in a good state before you break something.
All I think they really need to do at this point is maybe take a look at the perk system and critical/positive mission modifiers. Most of the overclocks that bugged me got solid tweaks this update, so I can't really even bring that up anymore.

Also, is there any way to get old battle pass season stuff at a faster rate? I figure they can add more stuff to the Store for Dwarf cosmetics, but for anything else like weapon, armor, pickaxe etc.. its only what battery chests and lost packs? I think the issue is that they really don't plan anything for late game, ie. anything beyond the golden promotion. it takes a while to buy all the stuff in the shop so I believe it's still balanced out against only having three levels of promotions.

This. I hate how they basically abandoned the in-game shop and mechanics of finding crates and put everything in the season pass. Every new season needs to get rid of the pass and just toss everything as loot to unlock via the crates or purchasing in the shop.
There is actually new stuff in lost packs this season. Not sure about crates.

Thats just confirmation bias. Sometimes the enemy spawn pool is stuffed with a singular special enemy and the spawn algorithm heavily favors spawning specials but there's only 1 to choose from. Sometimes hoxxes just wants you dead from the word "go"

I play this game a lot and for me the difference is very evident, I just wanted to see if other people had the same feeling. yeah of course I'll get used to it but the jump is very noticeable at the moment. which is frankly good. doesn't always feel balanced but at least the game is challenging again
I feel the exact same way, a lot more bugs and higher frequency of small "swarms", plus i feel like the ceiling is always full of spitters now, i have close to 1k hours, play exclusively on haz 5 and lost 4 out of 5 yesterday, had 4 detonators in a refinery mission which even if it has happened before it is ultra rare

They're definitely on of the most dangerous enemies so far, combining the range and lethality of a spitter, the area denial of a mactera bomber, and even the ability to present a threat while out of sight like the warden thanks to arcing projectiles

there is a functioning enemy called Glyphid Stalked in the game files that sneaks up on you, smacks you really hard and stuns you and then buries itself and repeats but I guess they couldn't finish the model for it on time (it's just a big green glyphid slasher)
