Maybe don't reply to a thread if you don't know what it's about??
Can only think of a few off the top of my head
Meeher (Metal Slug creator)
Hitoshi Akamatsu (Castlevania creator)
Akira Kitamura (Mega Man creator)
Shinichi Shimomura (Kirby Dark Matter trilogy)
Hideyuki Suganami (Treasure)
Tomoyoshi Miyazaki (Quintet)
not counting people who left the game industry but have known whereabouts
Castlevania is essentially the same game made again and again, but without the ability to add more to it unlike Pokemon. Megaman is kind of the same way, the lore is established and you can't do much more besides remake old games and hope you don't piss off the fans. Soul Blazer was great and all, but how many times can you build a world from nothing before you can say "I get it, I get it."
>unlike Pokemon
holy shit you're moronic
Doing a little bit of googling says the castlevania creator disappeared after making the third game. Either he's dead or just really good at hiding for almost 30 years.
He's probably at the inverted Konami headquarters, waiting for his time to arise
Thats where Konami sends you when they want to fire you. Its like the basement only worse with nonstop shitty music playing
online comments and news pieces always made it seem like that was a part of japanese job culture, like you shouldn't fire someone who is respected etc, but the other day I found that it is actually because of their laws. you can't fire a full-time employee without a good reason
The metal slug creator still works for granzilla.
Kazuma Kujo works at Granzella, but he only co-directed Metal Slug 1, Meeher was the lead director for all 3 games and I can't find anything on what he does now
Trends change fast, and 2D game designers that couldn't adapt weren't in high demand in the 2000s, and SNK was basically dying by then.
Knowing how Japanese companies work I woulnd't be surprised if they got shuffled to some non-development job in the company, handling paperwork or shipping and the like. You know Godzilla's first suit actor ended his career working for the film studio's bowling alley?
Plus most of these games were largely good gameplay with loose, but appealing concepts. The creators often weren't really tethered to these games beyond a design and programming level. Iga didn't create castlevania, but steered it in a direction that had his influence on it so he's more associated with the franchise than the ones who actualy created it.
Tomokazu Fukushima bros......
>helps create the best game ever made
You did your part, Fukushima. Bless you.
Ehhhh, he's doing that new gritty FE clone with all the "all-star" industry devs featured.

They know their limits, unlike a certain filmmaker.
He probably made his money and went off into other ventures.
People just disappearing is for whatever reason not that odd in Japan. The guy who played Kamen Rider X disappeared off the face of the earth and for like 30 years people thought he was dead. Then he suddenly shows up and says "oh I became a fisherman, were people looking for me?"
japs are more interested in minding their own business, the ones who do care about people are usually shut ins. surveillance tech hasn't advanced as far as in other countries, or if it has then its kept hidden.
they are just generally not welcome anymore. lots of their works just get shunned as a "niche" and fall under the radar. especially today with the big western shift japanese devs have a hard time greenlighting their games. Ishimoto called his fricking coworkers at 4am when NEO TWEWY finally happened and told them he is afraid of going to bed and waking up in the morning to the NEO development just being a dream.

Got a source for that? I'd love to read that interview, I was pretty sure I'd read all available twewy interviews
Who?
How about the strange case of Toshifumi Nabeshima?
I don't think this is really a japanese issue. Many people just have that one masterpiece in them. Or I guess most don't even have that.
Because the industry sucks and treats people like absolute shit. Crunch time is a reality.
