Duel to the Fiery Death

In my DND world, there is no justice system because everyone has figured out that the best way to do it is the Duel to the Fiery Death.

If two guys got a problem? Everyone knows to go to the biggest building in town. Everyone sets it on fire. Then the guys fight and Duel to the Fiery Death.

If it's a whole bunch of guys who got a dispute? They go into teams (shirts v. skins) and do a whole bunch of duels inside the biggest burning building at once.

Whenever there's a Duel to the Fiery Death everyone else starts playing music in a band and the girls dress up to make things hotter (metaphorically).

If you can't do a Duel to the Fiery Death? Then the guys just gotta settle the problem like adults.

Thoughts? Makes it more interesting and fitting for DND I think.

Seems like you want to talk a bit more about this concept so I'm interested to see how your infrastructure and various population centres work.

Can you explain that a bit more?

My immediate thought is that under your system it's unlikely anything larger than homogenous Hamlets of a half dozen buildings would exist - because they'd be unable to grow any larger as they'd have to keep burning stuff down.

Also as the system is universal what led all cultures to adopt it? What made it so effective compared to say something like regulated duels or enforced legal codes?

Surely it would be more sensible to have an arena that can be filled with flammable materials that way you don’t need to burn down the mayors house whenever two retards have an argument.

You can't invent that in medieval Europe though?

What do you think buildings are made of??? Just throw some wood in there…

Anyways, there’s a reason why most rulers wanted dueling to stop. It’s kind of retarded.

Didn't they want it to stop cause it was killing their officer class?

          >there’s a reason why most rulers wanted dueling to stop.
Because judges and cops have always been even more corrupted than modern politicians are, and it was a problem if peasants had a way to get some actual justice done from time to time?

It discourages people getting into disputes.

No. It simply encourages them to settle their disputes in other, less official, ways.

          This ain't how society works.

Besides, there is no Assassination Guild in this world.

            >This ain't how society works.
It's how people work in the absence of more convenient ways to handle conflict. Now admittedly few societies work like that, because it'll tend to rip societies apart. But remove the sane judicial option and that's the way it'll go.
            >Besides, there is no Assassination Guild in this world.
You do it yourself, maybe get a few cousins to help. Professionals are expensive, guild-organised or not.

You know what, that idea is fucking nonsense and stupid, but I like it. Very metal, if that's what you're going for. Screw all these anons asking about the building's tax policy or whatever.
You do need to think about gameplay though, because of course your players are going to get themselves into a Duel to the Fiery Death with someone.
    >What's the penalty for chickening out and leaving the building? What happens if both agree to give up the fight and leave at the same time?
    >What happens if someone interrupts the fight, say if a third person charges in to help their friend?
    >Are the combatants allowed to use their own weapons and armor, or are they given the same stuff?
    >What makes a fight in a burning building different and more interesting than any other fight in your system?
    >What will the other players be doing while one of them fights a duel? Can they participate or interfere somehow?

If you DARE to leave the building the girls who are dressed up kill you for being a pussy. No bigger shame than getting killed by a girl.

If you say you want to give up the fight then the girls who are dressed up also kill you for being a pussy.

Someone interrupts a fight for ANY reason, he gets killed by the girls for being a pussy.

Everyone has their own weapons and armor because anyone can get into a Duel to the Fiery Death at any day.

Fights with a burning building hurt more and suck more if you lose.

Other players get into their own Duel to the Fiery Death. Or they can play in the band or be a girl who dresses up.

Seems like you'd burn through a lot of important buildings pretty fast that way, I think they should build temporary deathtrap arena houses to make the fights more interesting and economically efficient.

Seems like a fun way to keep people from starting fights over stupid shit. Stealing it for a small nation of retards rather than the entire world.
