Tank is not as important as a dedicated healer but still relatively important since they're also strong damage dealers.
AoE spammers are your best friends for dungeon crawiling, especially Witch, Sniper and Papillon.
Maids are still extremely important, especially since in early game you won't have many ways to recover TP, and later on they'll provide you with great support to either do more damage or protect your party.
Just keep in mind the DEF down dance is pretty shit compared to the elemental resistance down one, especially if you can make elemental weapons with Magical Princess / Sage, and you have a Witch for elemental nukes.
How exactly does dance mastery work? Let's say we have it at level 8 for a straight 10% increase. And you have maxed samba which at level 10 is 23% def reduc. Does the mastery then make it 25% def reduc instead of 33%?
I have no idea, based on random gamefaq threads where they say etoiles can have -27% atk dance, and the fact that the maid mastery is a flat addition, I'm going to assume the dance mastery and all the other masteries for that matter are also flat additions

That there's nothing else to spend them on in the end, so you do it anyway.
Attacks are the best as their mulitplier scales with level, but so does their tp cost which you cant afford until the end of the game if you do that.
For something like the maids skills, the % is the % of your tp. So recovering 3% of tp after battle vs 5% is actually meaningful, and the maid speciality skill that increases maid skills by 1% 2% etc is a flat addition from my understanding, so it can essentially double your 3% shit with only 3 points etc.
You shouldn't be putting points in the instakill in the first place because it sucks and you should know it sucks even without looking up a guide because of how the game has shown you it works so far with other on hit effects and statuses.

I'd rather have mistress (dancer spec) and an etoile for atk+spd debuffs and dance damage. If you have two maids you can handle the hp&tp regen with maid skills, so the singer skills are unnecessary

Who do you expect to do your damage? I'm sure you could do it, but I can't imagine it being very good at clearing random encounters or bosses. Maybe the double aoe damage dance can actually carry you, who knows
Depends on where you are. Bard is much better for the main story because Chorale is really strong at that point. Later on, Etoile is better because enemy stats start going pretty high.

To be fair, it's a mid-level class skill. And for when you want to use it, it's really good. Instant, partywide damage that doesn't suffer from the downsides of chant timing or the downsides of having a 50% failure rate per enemy is really nice at that stage of the game.

Thought people were joking about Valk's damage but no, they actually right, i built Alisia as a DL because i thought she'd be the main damage dealer of the team but Lize's puppets and Sasara's daedalus attack are what's really pushing the damage. At least she's not terrible though, megaton press can be really useful.

I figured out how to mod unique skills and how to place them on other characters. It does have a limit to it with how they have it setup. So if I were to give one character one unique, I'd have to take it away from another one. Currently looking into how to mod portraits to see if it's possible to use the actual corrupted forms over the DLC versions of them. I already know how to edit them in, but the problem lies in file location and how they are defined. I probably could mod class balance changes if I wanted as well, but I don't really see the need here.
Mods and a cheat table would have been cool for my playthrough little late now tho I think I'd have done the same:
Adjust uniques for my fav 5 and add in the corrupted portraits instead of the shitty dlc ones we currently have
I might have edited the Light skill to offer incredible encounter rate down, and Whistle to offer incredible encounter rate up so while I'm exploring with light I don't have so many damn battles, but then when I want to farm whistle will trigger a fight every step

I figure Lize will be nice to have for battles where the boss spams or makes use of familiars. Lilian's unique skill is terrible, but I can make better use of it in more battles then Mefmera's, which is entirely situational and doesn't even make that large a difference ultimately. I don't really need to explain Mio.
It was between Grishna and Yae for the FT, but I went with Grishna because I think a team like this would value the superior offense potential of the former over the better utility of the later. The Magical Princess is going to be Nanako because the status/debuff negate will be integral I imagine.
Grishna will usually be a Valkyrie and Nanako will usually be a Magical Princess.
For the SPs I'll probably run two as PA and one as a JO. I'll also try post game with this team and try and be as faithful to it as I can there, but doors will force compromises, such as when it requires me to use a maid or scout class.

Also want to add that I plan to focus her as a Witch for the main game because Magical Princess isn't that great until after 50, which is where Witch also conveniently falls off.
For intermediate classes it doesn't ultimately matter I think because it'll mainly be trying to push to Advanced classes as soon as I can to stabilize this team. Grishna and Nanako are going to be the main carries up until then with probably Doll Master support.
Go for it I'd say. Mobs are going to die that's for sure. Abuse the Mini and Auto Refresh for sure where you can. Joker will absolutely need gear and/or tank hits with Convert Damage to TP.

Papillion have the Sinner's Sword, which is pretty high up on the list of unique weapons. They also get specific unique armor that's pretty high end as well.

Dark Lord is fine in the main game, but is way too slow in the post game even after crowning. Magical Princess is broken in 2 and only slightly less so in 2-2 though. It's great if you want to just destroy the post game, particularly if you also use Silver Keys.

if it doesn't hit all enemies, you still deal heavy damage to the others, singled out enemies are trivial to deal with

What do you mean otherwise? The sole purpose of Papillon is to use Rose Queen. Of course she's otherwise just there soaking EXP. That's like saying an Etoile who's not dancing is just there soaking EXP.
the thing is etoile shines in all situations, while pap will spend boss battles getting pitiful danger shoots. Granted I'm heavily biased against the RNG toolkit of the spieler in general

Papillon is as broken as I remember. I'm playing through 2 for a third time, hit the therian village, crafted the best longsword I could and my papillon is getting the bench caught up to level 30 in half an hour each. Insane.
Last night i had a bunch of questions but there was no thread on Ganker so i just ended up brute forcing through shit. Most of my questions are meta related because i want the game to be as easy as possible, stuff like which class to pick with Lize, etc etc
Team comp is basically up to you, if you're not dying it's fine.
There's some stuff you'll usually want access to like a dispel, though there's only one or two bosses before the postgame that require it. Aura Eliminate via Berserker, or Dispel via Sage.
Lilian and Lize's make even less sense for JO. Mefmera's unique skill means she takes less damage during Trump Card. It fits Joker better than any other class. Lilian SS due to the extra DEX for dolls. Lize is left with PA.
Mefmera makes sense for Joker because her unique mitigates the damage dealt to her by a percentage. Which is a big deal when your defense is 0. Combine her with an Etoile, particularly Yuni, and it becomes even moreso.

Playing 2-2 and tried switching my DM Lize with a Spieler Mefmera after I got her but it seems like I'm spending way more TP for comparable damage to just summoning the Spartan every few turns, am I missing something?

How much longer is DT2, I just unlocked the Library Depths and it feels like the endgame, but I also heard that you end the game approaching level 50. My average party level is 37 and I'm really feeling the pressure as every random encounter is just praying my Witch gets their cast off before getting one-shot. Is it time to suck it up and start grinding for a bit?
You're in the final story area. You're a bit underleveled, you could try climbing Tver (quest desk unlock) if you need more levels and the encounters in the Depths are too rough.
Early game it's just unaffordable to use because of your TP pool. Mid game it still has that issue and enemies start having a better chance to interrupt her. End game there are just better options for both damage and healing and the role compression you're getting isn't worth the unreliability. Post game it's just too slow to get going and heavily punished by the enemies and bosses you'll face. Papillion does so much better vs mobs and Joker can just delete bosses. Plenty of other classes offer better support as well.
This is actually her worst advanced class outfit. If you want lewd, SS is just better for it. If you want her in a pretty outfit, then PA is better for that. This is just an ugly outfit.
Friendly reminder that Irena just has no nipples. They just shift her outfit around to make it look like it's JUST covering them, but either her nipples move between outfits or they just don't exist. This is sort of how they get around some things. They self censor by just omitting details that would be there if this was their ToHeart VN days.

Spieler is sort of garbage until it hits Advanced Classes. After that Papillion is an amazing mob cleaner and Joker is a good boss cleaner. They get even better as the game progresses because they scale well.
You really want a scout to interrupt casts, dances, etc. Some bosses are 100 times harder without them. Spielers suck ass at the start but Papillon is by far the best mob killer and Joker is by far the best boss killer.

I beat her at level 15. I tried at 14 and died, finished exploring the other way first instead then went back with level 15 classes. Why tf would you ever respec to 15 if you were like level 18 or more? I wouldn't, I'd just suck it up and deal with it until 30. Likewise once my characters hit like 35, I won't even be considering resetting them to 30 until much much later, at least post game.

Reminder that Freeze stops both Dolls and Dances from enemies. Silence stops spell casting and Songs. Sleep destroys all 4 and I think Stun does that too.
Feeling a sudden difficulty spike since passing 30 and entering the temple of wrappl. is it because I drastically changed my party comp? I thought replacing Joker with Sniper would be better for exploring and I changed my singer with a dancer for the debuffs that I'd figure I'd need more. Maybe I need to continue grinding Irena to be a witch to deal with those high def shits especially lousy guarding paladins
Archer gets less enemy preemptive strikes though Caution, it'll helps. Dancers scale better across the game as enemy stats will be higher than yours. Divas still have uses, but ETs tend to be better.
Maybe it's just me, but I've tried MP multiple times through the story and it just seems lacking. I believe early on she lacks the TP and equipment to deal decent damage and stay alive.
Level 30 MP is not advised unless from Witch so you have Auto Refresh. At 50, it's easier to go EN->MP as your Maid and TP recovery pool will be bigger.

It's a good game and it has fanservice. You get both.
I always try to make SS work. One of the problems of the class is that most of the dolls are just trash compared to Mercidarian, so the double doll thing barely feels like a big benefit. She's slightly better than papillon at bossing but that's it.
PA is already a better class in every other way and SS only beat it in boss damage potential due to doll support. The later is even questionable because you have to waste turns setting that up and have to entirely worry about losing and having to reup them. It also has more problems halting to pivot to other actions compared to PA. PA also is infinitely better in boss fights with adds and helps allow your main boss damage dealers to focus on the boss. Crowning helps ALL of PA's strengths and NONE of SS's.
I put Lize in my party but I had to temp drop Alisia. I plan to switch her in from time to time since I got her as paladin and girshna as berserker. I would use lilian as well if she were another class, maybe when I unlock advance classes I'll change things around. But I'm a e-girlgay and Lize is pretty much gonna stay in party.
yeah I figure the advanced classes will be different enough to put 2 in party. I just want to avoid using the same exact class twice and right now they're kind of a weak class so I just wanna deal with 1.

the text post of the nyaa torrent page tells you, he uploaded the torrent before the dlc was shared so there's a link to the dlc download. its just a folder you dump in the dt2 data folder that adds like 10 characters and that's it

It's actually about 20 characters and some of them are worth it. Mio, for example, has a support skill that'll debuff all enemies Def and Res just for having her turn. This compliments Joker a lot as well.
it's just DT1's character's randomly dumped into your base party. My honest take is that you should just play 1 later this year if you want to get to know these characters better, they have zero skits in 2. A few of them have OP skills, that's really it.

They are not plot relevant, they have no lines or events, they're just a bunch of different characters to try from dt1 if you want. Some have good abilities, some are sexo, some have shit abilities. Seems like most people just use the story characters for the dialogue ultimately from all the screenshots in the threads

I can see an argument for going dollmaster early on when you're not swimming in tp just for the tp regen. The stat growth differential isn't that big yet early on. But then again if you're going papillon early on you might as well swap it out for another class.
Real talk anon, trickster is shit too, the entire class throughout mid game is just a dedicated danger shoot spammer which blows ass if they don't have an insane atk weapon. I think dollmaster with spartan is probably better because you're unlikely to have a godlike weapon for them

you're not missing anything if you just skip the dlc
in 2 it's 20 extra characters with no story, you don't want to use them because you want to bring the regular characters for their cutscenes
they also give some OP accessories, but I found myself leaving them in storage over more useful ones
for 2-2 the extra costumes are kinda shit there are 2 or 3 okay ones, but again I found myself using the regular ones
As for the dlc dungeons, they're filler shit that's actually better to just skip like extra dungeons that open from questing.
Overall the most notable thing about either dlc are the double exp accessories, and you can just use cheat engine to power level alts instead, so dlc is an easy pass, uncensor is an easy pass, the sound fix might be important but after a while you'll mute the bgm anyways and listen to your own shit so it's another pass
all you need is 2 and 2-2 and a frick ton of patience to deal with the 300hrs of content

Oh yeah, forgot, this is the most important part of the dlc tbh. An accessory that doubles xp gained for one character, which is useful later in post game or if you want to use a character you benched later on

I made a small mod to 2 and 2-2 where I swapped Lilian and Yuni's unique skills. I spent more time looking at ways to change the files over ways to make a cheat table.
a cheat table with the skill addresses, you could give any character any skill and it's saved to that specific save file instead of changing gamefiles
not only for uniques but also cross-class skills and give sage dolls or dark lord mp's transformation, whatever fun shit you could imagine
in 2 you could get the id's for the class sprites and effectively have a cheat table costume room letting you wear monica's assassin sprite on sniper
you could turn off random encounters or turn them way up so every step triggers a fight
you could possibly summon custom fights by using a script allowing you to fight one time bosses again
you could craft custom gear outside the limits set ingame
that's just a couple of the possibilities of cheat table modding, this game is on pc now, we can change it any way we want

No problem. Either spam Phoenix for the Speed Down or equip Dagger and Axe to hurt enemies with Dagger skills. Like Joker using Trump Card, the higher the base attack, the more damage you'll do during Joint Skills. Or pair with an MP and have them use the Clone on everyone Joint Skill. That's likely the most practical outside Phoenix/Dagger skills. Don't ever increase Katana Mastery.

It's stronger, but the gap between the two just grows wider all the same because of the problems SS has fundamentally. I'd much rather have a PA during a boss and the only time you want a SS is against AM in post game because you're forced with one. It's not even particularly useful for this fight either. It's just a way to make the fight harder on the player.
No doubt about it. Best thing SS can do vs Angra Mainyu is use Catalina for healing while equipping a Tome, casting Divine Shield on self or using Leaf/New World Egg if you have them. Let the VA, MP and ET just do their job.

It helps more so if you come from SO as they don't have Fast Cast. But if you come from EN, you are doubling up on the benefit of speed casting enchants, debuffs or Rainbow Flash.
Fiora or Nanako make for the best Magical Princess. Fiora feels most fitting as a Bishop though.
Pretty much. Fiora has a higher proc rate but only nullifies the damage. Nanako negates status effects and debuffs alongside damage but not as often. You can always use both.

I have Irena as my Witch in 2-2 and she's fallen off by 43. With Speed UP and Chant Speed UP enhancements, lowest level spells and tons of passives/fast cast it's still impossible to get a cast off before PA + VL +Archer TH combos the small fish to death.
only still carrying her to get her to 50 so I can turn her into an MP or ENSG.
Ultra quick version? Kunoichis got worse, Tricksters and SS got a little better, MPs took a slight hit, AGI x Speed got neutered, lots of skills can be affected by elemental enchantments, no class doors ever, you have like a 6th party member from bosses and/or 7 from hiring, GUNS!, Witches and Casters got better because of Scanners (essentially a 75% party wide Irena buff), VAs got buffed and that one Bard or Diva song that normally effected Double/Triple attack does WAY more. That's everything I remember offhand from what DoopDoop telling me.

Mio cuts enemy DEF/RES by 10% and stacks with/is independant from Samba. Yuni and Mio are powerhouses when stacking their uniques, Samba, Waltz and Pursuit Stab.

Chanting does indeed suck unless it's early Witch that wipes out the enemy party. Best you can do is speed up the casting time with Fast Cast, El and enchantments. Reading Requiem isn't bad fully maxed out either, but that's late game.

Turn speed varies specifically based on weapon speed rank. Below is the combined values of Agility times Speed Up necessary for max turn delay reduction.
A+ = 275
A = 302.5
B+ = 308
B = 313.5
C+ = 319
C = 325.5
D+ = 334.125
D = 338.25
E+ = 342.375
E = 346.5
F+ = 350.625
F = 354.75
Thus, if you can get your Agility, usually multiplied by 1.5 from 5 Speed Ups above this, congrats, you have max turn delay reduction. This is possible on every single class when crowned. And if you push Agility Up x 5, your +50 bonus Agility from crowning, just turned into +75 Agility.
Final, how big of an effect does this have end game on some of the strongest enemies in the game? Imagine we play chess and normally we each get 1 turn. Now I get 6 turns for each of yours. Now we multiply that by 5. Your party can see up to 30 consecutive turns over the entire enemy party, usually obliterating them before they can do anything.
Enemies and bosses were not designed for your team to get 30 fricking turns for each 1 of theres. It crazy ultra late game strat but without comparison to anything else. You start getting mutliple turns even with just 5 x AGI and Speed Ups and without Crowning. After Crowning, enemies are moving in slow motion.
going 6 times each turn doesn't even sound fun though, I'd rather stack defense and become unkillable so we can just have a little back and forth where I see their moves before I ultimately defeat them
It is neat if you are trying to be effective, but crowning takes several hours per character. I usually mix speed with defense. And keep it mind your team actually takes turns. It's not VA goes 6 times in a row, MP goes 6 times in a row, etc. Your whole team will just keep going through in order depending on their move's turn delay. It's catharthic but far from necessary. Being status immune from +100 Resistance feels good enough.
I knew speed was king but never new it was that broken.
Time to start zooming with axes.
It does work on axes for both Jokers and Dark Lords but you want the 1 handed versions so you can slap more AGI onto your shields.

The enemies can start praying to God, but my team is just going to murder them. They can pray to the Demon Lords, but their prays aren't answered as I killed them too.
If anyone's wondering why my advice and knowledge seems out there or insane, keep in mind I played the game for over 850 hours when I stopped. All 36 characters were crowned, full set of Mandra Princess Sealbooks, every character crowned, all dungeons completely mapped, every unique item, weapon, armor in the game, all enemies sealed, materialized and drops filled out, over 50+ perfectly and expertly crafted pieces of equipment and max exp on all girls. A few of them had max skills like ET Yuni due to MSG abuse. No, you don't have to do this. But the way I play games sometimes is not whether I should but whether I can.
I've done that in several games, but this was the longest.
Most wild team combo was 2 DI, 2 ET and VA vs Echidna. Waltz, Mazurka, Samba, Salsa, Requeim, Fantasia, Chorale and March all going while Divas obliterated her with Panic Voice.
That or DL, JO, KN and MI went high attack Power Charge, Trump Card, Therian Seal, Warcry to Stampede Heaven with Max Motivation Gear. Hit like 10-15K twice and enemies got wiped out.
I pretty much need a new computer. Not necessarily to run DT but in general.
I do plan to play it extensively and similarly to DT2 when that happens. In the meantime I'm here to offer up advice since the release on Johren. I legit went to Ganker for pron and saw a DT2/2-2 topic on the main page when it loaded. Immediate priority shift lol. Been checking back the last few days otherwise and was happy we got a fricking DT topic of all things to 500+. I have no stake in it other than I hope people have fun and enjoy the game. For 2-2 you have more options AFAIK. If you want to push the concept in 2, pick Ruri, go BE->SA, max Double and Triple Attack, max Divas Song Mastery, Barrage Rondo and Concentration Prelude. IIRC Follow-Up Kick can trigger after Double or Triple Attack.

LOL, ask me what skill. There is a whole guide on GameFAQs by DoopDoop in English that goes into this. About the only unknown is precisely how Soul Seal works, how double puppet/song/dance increase speed and precise numbers on the most girl's uniques. Warning Shot is 6% and Magnificent Steps is 7%. Use both in a ET and SN in party. Take a shot everytime the enemy loses a turn. You'll have alcohol poisoning.
Make a team of 5 Snipers with Warning Shot and Stardust Arrow. Fricking clog the que with 45 fricking turns of arrows raining down. Chant your spells through that frickers!
It does feel satisfying to craft the perfect gear to maximize resistances and other effects. Most of my characters barely hit level 99 at the end of the game and still obliterated the superbosses without any trouble.
Hell yeah. The journey adn destination are both cool. Except trying to get the names to match up with all the right effects with the blacksmith. YES / NO, NO, YES / NO, NO. Repeat for way too long but get +99TX Luxurious gear for Yuni.

Also messed around with that Double/Triple/Ruri build with Barrage Rondo and Concentrate. With Warcry, Berserk and Last Stand, Ruri would usually attack at least twice and sometimes 4 times. It was at times more powerful than Moonlight Purgatory

Theres even a quest where I need to hand 2 Cypress Club for a Nurse Hat.
If you're patient enough, you can get them in Medic enemies in Samsara Passage.
If you revive your vita you could try streaming from pc->vita with moonlight.
Or hope someone takes the time to backport the translation to the vita version.

Felt like I only beat her because I got lucky with paraylyze and a combination of warning shot and the ET distraction
I just did that fight. Didn't have any way to remove her buffs or debuff her defense so I spent half an hour having my ET Salsa her to death while everyone just spammed defend since they couldn't hit for more than 2-3 damage a turn....
My condolences, I was scared of removing my dark lord for a mistress due to boss buffs. Thank god mistress still removes the def buffs with her heaven and hell skill.
Low motivation prevents Joint Skills. Continual max motivation means you can spam them easier.

At chapter 5 in DT2, is there a way to make enemy drop items easier? I'm filling the Libra book as I go but theres just this one enemy that won't drop its equipment drop in Samsara Passage. Good thing the Mimic drop its rare drop quickly or it would be a save scum hell.

Treasure Hunter plus Great Luck Fortune and liberal use of their Identify. For Materialize on weak enemies, use Salsa and defend while PA uses Materialize after a several turns. You can see enemy health with a Joint Skill if you have 4 different base classes.

I'll take note of this. I shouldn't be bothering with this since its just chapter 5, and focus on getting a sealbook of each enemy at least.
Well I'm definitely overleveled but I think the bosses can still be a challenge, like Grishna in the tower. I fought her around Lv.21 and my Berserker Alisia can be 2 shotted easily. I don't think I'm undergeared since I got a shield and armor that gave her +10 resist in all types. I still think I'm lucky to find a sword that can stun and a bow with silence thats useful in some ways.

Make sure Defender has the exe and the whole folder to be excepted. Also check your Defender setting if can automatically throw exes or process at quarantine.

1 is unrelated to 2 and 2-2. Start with 2, then 2-2, then you can go back and play 1 later this year when it releases in English (if you still crave dungeon traveling).

2-2? Melvy. Adds something like 20% more attack to swords?
Make sure you have open inventory slots in 2 before taking on bosses or the items will not be picked up and the bestiary will not update. 2-2 is more forgiving and let's you manage your bag after drops.
No missables skits iirc but make sure to hang onto unique items because some of them trigger skits.

Level 8 Circle Nurse cures all 7 status effects and heals off all debuffs. It works to make Defender, Berserk, High Risk, High Return, Loose Spirit and Last Stand only have positive effects. Level 8 Nurse does the same but for single targets.

There's a lot of girls to recruit, like 30 something I think? And each one has at least 3 diff panties that are kinda like classes because they come with different stats and skills. It's a lot more shallow than it sounds though, in effect, they all feel kinda samey (though maybe a good thing since you can basically stick with any girls you like?).
The fun is in collecting all of the girls and panties, some you get through the story but most of them are optional. Girls are FOE encounters you have to track down and fight. The panties are a pain in the ass though, because a lot of them are RNG loot from chests, expect a lot of going in and out of a dungeon to raid the same chests over and over again until you get lucky.

There is no "grind for 30h to be able to proceed" bullshit. You explore dungeons, you fight bosses, you get stronger, you explore more, so on and so forth.
Feeling a sudden difficulty spike since passing 30 and entering the temple of wrappl. is it because I drastically changed my party comp? I thought replacing Joker with Sniper would be better for exploring and I changed my singer with a dancer for the debuffs that I'd figure I'd need more. Maybe I need to continue grinding Irena to be a witch to deal with those high def shits especially lousy guarding paladins
Maybe it's just me, but I've tried MP multiple times through the story and it just seems lacking. I believe early on she lacks the TP and equipment to deal decent damage and stay alive.
Interestingly enough right now for me she's practically MVP with either magical slash hitting everyone or rainbow flash nuking a whole row. Rainbow flash is doing like 400+ damage while even Luco's megaton press is only doing 250~

Water Diety Rings from the Mermaids at the Tower effectively give +50 Water Resistance. You'll want this as you explore the Villa. Kraken's in the Villa use Tidal Wave and can ruin your life pretty quickly. Steal/win Risky Swimsuits and you'll have +100 Water Resist making you immune to Freeze and Poison. Very helpful for DM/SS and any physical skill users. Late game has Silver Keys for giving party members illusionary clones and as mention Mandra Clovers are the best healing item in the game.

Go get ambushed by a Kraken with back to back Tidal waves completely unprepared. Tidal Wave hits everyone hard and has ATK/DEF down off the top of my head. So if they use it twice, the 2nd one hits harder.
The second floor is mildly annoying, I wouldn't call the pick-a-path great design but I'm also not going to pretend it's some huge ordeal. I don't think there was anything in the postgame that actually bothered me, despite how big and varied the maps get I don't think there's anything poorly designed as THAT floor in EO1 postgame. Big labyrinthine dungeons like the library depths are some of my favorites.

Any tips for team-building in 2-2 relative to dt2? Do you need a tank or is it best to spam AOE to kill enemies before they can act?
Tank is not as important as a dedicated healer but still relatively important since they're also strong damage dealers.
AoE spammers are your best friends for dungeon crawiling, especially Witch, Sniper and Papillon.
Maids are still extremely important, especially since in early game you won't have many ways to recover TP, and later on they'll provide you with great support to either do more damage or protect your party.

How exactly does dance mastery work? Let's say we have it at level 8 for a straight 10% increase. And you have maxed samba which at level 10 is 23% def reduc. Does the mastery then make it 25% def reduc instead of 33%?

That there's nothing else to spend them on in the end, so you do it anyway.
Attacks are the best as their mulitplier scales with level, but so does their tp cost which you cant afford until the end of the game if you do that.
For something like the maids skills, the % is the % of your tp. So recovering 3% of tp after battle vs 5% is actually meaningful, and the maid speciality skill that increases maid skills by 1% 2% etc is a flat addition from my understanding, so it can essentially double your 3% shit with only 3 points etc.
You shouldn't be putting points in the instakill in the first place because it sucks and you should know it sucks even without looking up a guide because of how the game has shown you it works so far with other on hit effects and statuses.

Depends on where you are. Bard is much better for the main story because Chorale is really strong at that point. Later on, Etoile is better because enemy stats start going pretty high.

I figured out how to mod unique skills and how to place them on other characters. It does have a limit to it with how they have it setup. So if I were to give one character one unique, I'd have to take it away from another one. Currently looking into how to mod portraits to see if it's possible to use the actual corrupted forms over the DLC versions of them. I already know how to edit them in, but the problem lies in file location and how they are defined. I probably could mod class balance changes if I wanted as well, but I don't really see the need here.
Mods and a cheat table would have been cool for my playthrough little late now tho I think I'd have done the same:
Adjust uniques for my fav 5 and add in the corrupted portraits instead of the shitty dlc ones we currently have

I figure Lize will be nice to have for battles where the boss spams or makes use of familiars. Lilian's unique skill is terrible, but I can make better use of it in more battles then Mefmera's, which is entirely situational and doesn't even make that large a difference ultimately. I don't really need to explain Mio.
It was between Grishna and Yae for the FT, but I went with Grishna because I think a team like this would value the superior offense potential of the former over the better utility of the later. The Magical Princess is going to be Nanako because the status/debuff negate will be integral I imagine.
Grishna will usually be a Valkyrie and Nanako will usually be a Magical Princess.
For the SPs I'll probably run two as PA and one as a JO. I'll also try post game with this team and try and be as faithful to it as I can there, but doors will force compromises, such as when it requires me to use a maid or scout class.

Also want to add that I plan to focus her as a Witch for the main game because Magical Princess isn't that great until after 50, which is where Witch also conveniently falls off.
For intermediate classes it doesn't ultimately matter I think because it'll mainly be trying to push to Advanced classes as soon as I can to stabilize this team. Grishna and Nanako are going to be the main carries up until then with probably Doll Master support.
Go for it I'd say. Mobs are going to die that's for sure. Abuse the Mini and Auto Refresh for sure where you can. Joker will absolutely need gear and/or tank hits with Convert Damage to TP.

Rose queen is great, but papilions are otherwise underwhelming and their best weapons are weak. Magical princess spams strong aoe and also has good def, support skills, and good single target attacks. And if you line up the enemy turns correctly you can hit 5 enemies with dark lord's megaton press for huge damage.
Papillion have the Sinner's Sword, which is pretty high up on the list of unique weapons. They also get specific unique armor that's pretty high end as well.

Dark Lord is fine in the main game, but is way too slow in the post game even after crowning. Magical Princess is broken in 2 and only slightly less so in 2-2 though. It's great if you want to just destroy the post game, particularly if you also use Silver Keys.

This is literally one million times easier said than done.
Basically you get First Grid to activate and then you megaton press all 5 enemies going next
if it doesn't hit all enemies, you still deal heavy damage to the others, singled out enemies are trivial to deal with

Team comp is basically up to you, if you're not dying it's fine.
There's some stuff you'll usually want access to like a dispel, though there's only one or two bosses before the postgame that require it. Aura Eliminate via Berserker, or Dispel via Sage.

But why? Mefmera's US doesn't even make sense for a Joker.
Lilian and Lize's make even less sense for JO. Mefmera's unique skill means she takes less damage during Trump Card. It fits Joker better than any other class. Lilian SS due to the extra DEX for dolls. Lize is left with PA.
Mefmera makes sense for Joker because her unique mitigates the damage dealt to her by a percentage. Which is a big deal when your defense is 0. Combine her with an Etoile, particularly Yuni, and it becomes even moreso.

You're in the final story area. You're a bit underleveled, you could try climbing Tver (quest desk unlock) if you need more levels and the encounters in the Depths are too rough.

Early game it's just unaffordable to use because of your TP pool. Mid game it still has that issue and enemies start having a better chance to interrupt her. End game there are just better options for both damage and healing and the role compression you're getting isn't worth the unreliability. Post game it's just too slow to get going and heavily punished by the enemies and bosses you'll face. Papillion does so much better vs mobs and Joker can just delete bosses. Plenty of other classes offer better support as well.
They're awful in early to midgame though because of TP

Spieler is sort of garbage until it hits Advanced Classes. After that Papillion is an amazing mob cleaner and Joker is a good boss cleaner. They get even better as the game progresses because they scale well.
You really want a scout to interrupt casts, dances, etc. Some bosses are 100 times harder without them. Spielers suck ass at the start but Papillon is by far the best mob killer and Joker is by far the best boss killer.
I know, scout girl is the MVP so far.

I beat her at level 15. I tried at 14 and died, finished exploring the other way first instead then went back with level 15 classes. Why tf would you ever respec to 15 if you were like level 18 or more? I wouldn't, I'd just suck it up and deal with it until 30. Started this after finishing Refrain Chord. As a first timer in the genre, I don't know how exactly status effect works here, like how Freeze and Paralyze are different and how Stun and Paralyze works. I do like how they make the tutorials fun here unlike most Sting games (see Knights in the Nightmare).

Reminder that Freeze stops both Dolls and Dances from enemies. Silence stops spell casting and Songs. Sleep destroys all 4 and I think Stun does that too.
Archer gets less enemy preemptive strikes though Caution, it'll helps. Dancers scale better across the game as enemy stats will be higher than yours. Divas still have uses, but ETs tend to be better.
Level 30 MP is not advised unless from Witch so you have Auto Refresh. At 50, it's easier to go EN->MP as your Maid and TP recovery pool will be bigger.
It's a good game and it has fanservice. You get both.

I always try to make SS work. One of the problems of the class is that most of the dolls are just trash compared to Mercidarian, so the double doll thing barely feels like a big benefit. She's slightly better than papillon at bossing but that's it.
Papillion is better with bosses if you Crown her due to better scaling potential.

PA is already a better class in every other way and SS only beat it in boss damage potential due to doll support. The later is even questionable because you have to waste turns setting that up and have to entirely worry about losing and having to reup them. It also has more problems halting to pivot to other actions compared to PA. PA also is infinitely better in boss fights with adds and helps allow your main boss damage dealers to focus on the boss. Crowning helps ALL of PA's strengths and NONE of SS's.

I put Lize in my party but I had to temp drop Alisia. I plan to switch her in from time to time since I got her as paladin and girshna as berserker. I would use lilian as well if she were another class, maybe when I unlock advance classes I'll change things around. But I'm a e-girlgay and Lize is pretty much gonna stay in party.
If you really want Lilian as well later, you can try a party with both a PA and JO when you unlock Advanced Classes.

It's actually about 20 characters and some of them are worth it. Mio, for example, has a support skill that'll debuff all enemies Def and Res just for having her turn. This compliments Joker a lot as well.
it's just DT1's character's randomly dumped into your base party. My honest take is that you should just play 1 later this year if you want to get to know these characters better, they have zero skits in 2. A few of them have OP skills, that's really it.

I can see an argument for going dollmaster early on when you're not swimming in tp just for the tp regen. The stat growth differential isn't that big yet early on. But then again if you're going papillon early on you might as well swap it out for another class.
Real talk anon, trickster is shit too, the entire class throughout mid game is just a dedicated danger shoot spammer which blows ass if they don't have an insane atk weapon. I think dollmaster with spartan is probably better because you're unlikely to have a godlike weapon for them
Trickster gives you more base AGI, which is more useful than any of the dolls.
You can still go the 15-30 stretch as Dollmaster and it's probably the best way to use a Spieler during that stretch, then just reset at 30 and go Trickster into Papillon

you're not missing anything if you just skip the dlc
in 2 it's 20 extra characters with no story, you don't want to use them because you want to bring the regular characters for their cutscenes
they also give some OP accessories, but I found myself leaving them in storage over more useful ones
for 2-2 the extra costumes are kinda shit there are 2 or 3 okay ones, but again I found myself using the regular ones
As for the dlc dungeons, they're filler shit that's actually better to just skip like extra dungeons that open from questing.
Overall the most notable thing about either dlc are the double exp accessories, and you can just use cheat engine to power level alts instead, so dlc is an easy pass, uncensor is an easy pass, the sound fix might be important but after a while you'll mute the bgm anyways and listen to your own shit so it's another pass
all you need is 2 and 2-2 and a frick ton of patience to deal with the 300hrs of content

I made a small mod to 2 and 2-2 where I swapped Lilian and Yuni's unique skills. I spent more time looking at ways to change the files over ways to make a cheat table.
a cheat table with the skill addresses, you could give any character any skill and it's saved to that specific save file instead of changing gamefiles
not only for uniques but also cross-class skills and give sage dolls or dark lord mp's transformation, whatever fun shit you could imagine
in 2 you could get the id's for the class sprites and effectively have a cheat table costume room letting you wear monica's assassin sprite on sniper
you could turn off random encounters or turn them way up so every step triggers a fight
you could possibly summon custom fights by using a script allowing you to fight one time bosses again
you could craft custom gear outside the limits set ingame
that's just a couple of the possibilities of cheat table modding, this game is on pc now, we can change it any way we want

No problem. Either spam Phoenix for the Speed Down or equip Dagger and Axe to hurt enemies with Dagger skills. Like Joker using Trump Card, the higher the base attack, the more damage you'll do during Joint Skills. Or pair with an MP and have them use the Clone on everyone Joint Skill. That's likely the most practical outside Phoenix/Dagger skills. Don't ever increase Katana Mastery.

It's stronger, but the gap between the two just grows wider all the same because of the problems SS has fundamentally. I'd much rather have a PA during a boss and the only time you want a SS is against AM in post game because you're forced with one. It's not even particularly useful for this fight either. It's just a way to make the fight harder on the player.
No doubt about it. Best thing SS can do vs Angra Mainyu is use Catalina for healing while equipping a Tome, casting Divine Shield on self or using Leaf/New World Egg if you have them. Let the VA, MP and ET just do their job.
It helps more so if you come from SO as they don't have Fast Cast. But if you come from EN, you are doubling up on the benefit of speed casting enchants, debuffs or Rainbow Flash.
Pretty much. Fiora has a higher proc rate but only nullifies the damage. Nanako negates status effects and debuffs alongside damage but not as often. You can always use both.

I have Irena as my Witch in 2-2 and she's fallen off by 43. With Speed UP and Chant Speed UP enhancements, lowest level spells and tons of passives/fast cast it's still impossible to get a cast off before PA + VL +Archer TH combos the small fish to death.

What should I know going from 2 to 2-2?
Ultra quick version? Kunoichis got worse, Tricksters and SS got a little better, MPs took a slight hit, AGI x Speed got neutered, lots of skills can be affected by elemental enchantments, no class doors ever, you have like a 6th party member from bosses and/or 7 from hiring, GUNS!, Witches and Casters got better because of Scanners (essentially a 75% party wide Irena buff), VAs got buffed and that one Bard or Diva song that normally effected Double/Triple attack does WAY more. That's everything I remember offhand from what DoopDoop telling me.
Mio cuts enemy DEF/RES by 10% and stacks with/is independant from Samba. Yuni and Mio are powerhouses when stacking their uniques, Samba, Waltz and Pursuit Stab.
Chanting does indeed suck unless it's early Witch that wipes out the enemy party. Best you can do is speed up the casting time with Fast Cast, El and enchantments. Reading Requiem isn't bad fully maxed out either, but that's late game.

Turn speed varies specifically based on weapon speed rank. Below is the combined values of Agility times Speed Up necessary for max turn delay reduction.
A+ = 275
A = 302.5
B+ = 308
B = 313.5
C+ = 319
C = 325.5
D+ = 334.125
D = 338.25
E+ = 342.375
E = 346.5
F+ = 350.625
F = 354.75
Thus, if you can get your Agility, usually multiplied by 1.5 from 5 Speed Ups above this, congrats, you have max turn delay reduction. This is possible on every single class when crowned. And if you push Agility Up x 5, your +50 bonus Agility from crowning, just turned into +75 Agility.
Final, how big of an effect does this have end game on some of the strongest enemies in the game? Imagine we play chess and normally we each get 1 turn. Now I get 6 turns for each of yours. Now we multiply that by 5. Your party can see up to 30 consecutive turns over the entire enemy party, usually obliterating them before they can do anything.
Enemies and bosses were not designed for your team to get 30 fricking turns for each 1 of theres. It crazy ultra late game strat but without comparison to anything else. You start getting mutliple turns even with just 5 x AGI and Speed Ups and without Crowning. After Crowning, enemies are moving in slow motion.
going 6 times each turn doesn't even sound fun though, I'd rather stack defense and become unkillable so we can just have a little back and forth where I see their moves before I ultimately defeat them
It is neat if you are trying to be effective, but crowning takes several hours per character. I usually mix speed with defense. And keep it mind your team actually takes turns. It's not VA goes 6 times in a row, MP goes 6 times in a row, etc. Your whole team will just keep going through in order depending on their move's turn delay. It's catharthic but far from necessary. Being status immune from +100 Resistance feels good enough.
It does work on axes for both Jokers and Dark Lords but you want the 1 handed versions so you can slap more AGI onto your shields.
You don't have to min max that hard, no, but I'm sure I'm not the only person who enjoys that endgame power.
The enemies can start praying to God, but my team is just going to murder them. They can pray to the Demon Lords, but their prays aren't answered as I killed them too.
If anyone's wondering why my advice and knowledge seems out there or insane, keep in mind I played the game for over 850 hours when I stopped. All 36 characters were crowned, full set of Mandra Princess Sealbooks, every character crowned, all dungeons completely mapped, every unique item, weapon, armor in the game, all enemies sealed, materialized and drops filled out, over 50+ perfectly and expertly crafted pieces of equipment and max exp on all girls. A few of them had max skills like ET Yuni due to MSG abuse. No, you don't have to do this. But the way I play games sometimes is not whether I should but whether I can.
I've done that in several games, but this was the longest.
Most wild team combo was 2 DI, 2 ET and VA vs Echidna. Waltz, Mazurka, Samba, Salsa, Requeim, Fantasia, Chorale and March all going while Divas obliterated her with Panic Voice.
That or DL, JO, KN and MI went high attack Power Charge, Trump Card, Therian Seal, Warcry to Stampede Heaven with Max Motivation Gear. Hit like 10-15K twice and enemies got wiped out.

For 2-2 you have more options AFAIK. If you want to push the concept in 2, pick Ruri, go BE->SA, max Double and Triple Attack, max Divas Song Mastery, Barrage Rondo and Concentration Prelude. IIRC Follow-Up Kick can trigger after Double or Triple Attack.

About the only unknown is precisely how Soul Seal works, how double puppet/song/dance increase speed and precise numbers on the most girl's uniques. Warning Shot is 6% and Magnificent Steps is 7%. Use both in a ET and SN in party. Take a shot everytime the enemy loses a turn. You'll have alcohol poisoning.
Make a team of 5 Snipers with Warning Shot and Stardust Arrow. Fricking clog the que with 45 fricking turns of arrows raining down. Chant your spells through that frickers!
Hell yeah. The journey adn destination are both cool. Except trying to get the names to match up with all the right effects with the blacksmith. YES / NO, NO, YES / NO, NO. Repeat for way too long but get +99TX Luxurious gear for Yuni.

It does feel satisfying to craft the perfect gear to maximize resistances and other effects. Most of my characters barely hit level 99 at the end of the game and still obliterated the superbosses without any trouble.

I just did that fight. Didn't have any way to remove her buffs or debuff her defense so I spent half an hour having my ET Salsa her to death while everyone just spammed defend since they couldn't hit for more than 2-3 damage a turn....
My condolences, I was scared of removing my dark lord for a mistress due to boss buffs. Thank god mistress still removes the def buffs with her heaven and hell skill.

Mainly used for accessing sub-events. I don't think it affects anything besides low pep would deny you access to the group skills.
Low motivation prevents Joint Skills. Continual max motivation means you can spam them easier.

I'll take note of this. I shouldn't be bothering with this since its just chapter 5, and focus on getting a sealbook of each enemy at least.
At the very least, you'll be over leveled trying to complete the bestiary as you go, which will kill some of the challenge if that bothers you.
Well I'm definitely overleveled but I think the bosses can still be a challenge, like Grishna in the tower. I fought her around Lv.21 and my Berserker Alisia can be 2 shotted easily. I don't think I'm undergeared since I got a shield and armor that gave her +10 resist in all types. I still think I'm lucky to find a sword that can stun and a bow with silence thats useful in some ways.

At chapter 5 in DT2, is there a way to make enemy drop items easier? I'm filling the Libra book as I go but theres just this one enemy that won't drop its equipment drop in Samsara Passage. Good thing the Mimic drop its rare drop quickly or it would be a save scum hell.
Treasure hunter has a drop increase skill and a steal skill that grabs from their loot table. Otherwise, the dlc item maybe? Though I'm not sure that one effects the monster specific loot.

They are in the Mercs for hire tavern if you have that unlocked yet.
They are unlocked as mercenaries once you unlock Monica's shop. Happens in your ~30s approximately.

1 is unrelated to 2 and 2-2. Start with 2, then 2-2, then you can go back and play 1 later this year when it releases in English (if you still crave dungeon traveling).
2 and 2-2 are censored not to mention they massively held back their power level compared to 1 with uncensored nipples and overall better fanservice

They all have bosses, but the requirements differ.
I know some of them pop up with quests but I think there might also be other requirements

Make sure you have open inventory slots in 2 before taking on bosses or the items will not be picked up and the bestiary will not update. 2-2 is more forgiving and let's you manage your bag after drops.
No missables skits iirc but make sure to hang onto unique items because some of them trigger skits.

Level 8 Circle Nurse cures all 7 status effects and heals off all debuffs. It works to make Defender, Berserk, High Risk, High Return, Loose Spirit and Last Stand only have positive effects. Level 8 Nurse does the same but for single targets.

Melvy's Unique will get her even more Atk, pretty straightforward
El's Unique should give her more turns? I don't know how the turn delay stuff really works, will it still be useful even after I stacked tons of AGI and Speed Ups?

There's a lot of girls to recruit, like 30 something I think? And each one has at least 3 diff panties that are kinda like classes because they come with different stats and skills. It's a lot more shallow than it sounds though, in effect, they all feel kinda samey (though maybe a good thing since you can basically stick with any girls you like?).
The fun is in collecting all of the girls and panties, some you get through the story but most of them are optional. Girls are FOE encounters you have to track down and fight. The panties are a pain in the ass though, because a lot of them are RNG loot from chests, expect a lot of going in and out of a dungeon to raid the same chests over and over again until you get lucky.

If you can plug in an external keyboard you can also plug in a gamepad. Hell, you can use your Vita AS a gamepad if you hacked it.

I thought replacing Joker with Sniper would be better for exploring and I changed my singer with a dancer for the debuffs that I'd figure I'd need more. Maybe I need to continue grinding Irena to be a witch to deal with those high def shits especially lousy guarding paladins
Maybe it's just me, but I've tried MP multiple times through the story and it just seems lacking. I believe early on she lacks the TP and equipment to deal decent damage and stay alive.
Interestingly enough right now for me she's practically MVP with either magical slash hitting everyone or rainbow flash nuking a whole row. Rainbow flash is doing like 400+ damage while even Luco's megaton press is only doing 250~

They don't have anything in their descriptions about what they do but for instance the yakisoba pans that drop in excess heal 20 hp/tp which is not bad at all for keeping topped off. Anything else good to know about?

I did notice it seemed like "sweets" would heal TP and "meats" would heal HP. I only tried a few though.
Water Diety Rings from the Mermaids at the Tower effectively give +50 Water Resistance. You'll want this as you explore the Villa. Kraken's in the Villa use Tidal Wave and can ruin your life pretty quickly. Steal/win Risky Swimsuits and you'll have +100 Water Resist making you immune to Freeze and Poison. Very helpful for DM/SS and any physical skill users. Late game has Silver Keys for giving party members illusionary clones and as mention Mandra Clovers are the best healing item in the game.
Go get ambushed by a Kraken with back to back Tidal waves completely unprepared. Tidal Wave hits everyone hard and has ATK/DEF down off the top of my head. So if they use it twice, the 2nd one hits harder.

The second floor is mildly annoying, I wouldn't call the pick-a-path great design but I'm also not going to pretend it's some huge ordeal. I don't think there was anything in the postgame that actually bothered me, despite how big and varied the maps get I don't think there's anything poorly designed as THAT floor in EO1 postgame. Big labyrinthine dungeons like the library depths are some of my favorites.
I'm in the main story dungeon at around lv48-50ish now and am really regretting my choice of Irena for Bishop.
