      And the graphics
      And the Dexnav
And the amount of pokemon availability

Wait. Why am I supposed to hate Gen 6 again?

        >And the graphics
No, shitty chibis and some of the 3D models were fricked.
        >And the Dexnav
        Not in XY
        >And the amount of pokemon availability
And yet galarcucks says this is a BAD thing...
        >Wait. Why am I supposed to hate Gen 6 again?
This is how you know you CAN'T defend Gen 8 anymore.

Did these save to the cartridge? I want to check on my PSS friend list in X, but I'm afraid of being disappointed. I lost my 3DS friends list when transferring to a N3DSXL way back.

      Anonymous

Nope, the friend list is tied to the 3DS you're using.
I also remember someone in the PSS chat getting into drama with a "friend" because they had the same thing happen to them with their 3DS

        >PSS chat
People unironically used that seriously? With the quality of the 3DS mic?

I think he meant the typing of messages
I also remember seeing some people update extremely fast having a conversation with someone outside of my friendlist and even seeing both people have a conversation in my friendlist, it's weird like that
This thing could get very lively very fast

It was text chat, but I think people also used the voice chat. I never did though

When people used voice in your friendlist there was a blue bubble on top of their trainer profile
Man I really wish we could go back to this system

              Anonymous

Yeah, it was hella fun, but in retrospect I understand it's exactly the reason GF got rid of it. People were using the system to exchange inappropriate messages (I talked about this in a previous thread some time ago; in short, I saw ERP happening and a couple people tried to rope me into it) and I can see why GF wouldn't want that

Horny bastards ruin a good thing, more news at 11
It's upsetting because I remember using it to get VGC training done, I could type in VGC year and I would get challenged to that format, you could also type OU, UU, NU singles and get loads of battles with ease, no more confusion or randomly changing some route 2 shitmon nickname to communicate while trading, you could tell people what you wanted before connecting

                Anonymous

I had no idea about the battle format thing, was it tied to Global Link or something?

                Anonymous

Nope, you just updated your shot out and everyone could see that you typed "OU singles", "VGC 14" then anyone that wanted that format battled you, even passersby could see that you updated it and challenge you to that battle format

It was by far the easiest and fastest way to get singles 6v6 battles, 3v3, item clause, multis, doubles and VGC with strangers that we ever had

I see, never thought of that. I just battled people at random, among them someone who used the chat to call me a cheater for using an Aegislash (which was the one I used in the story, so not a competitively bred one)

                Anonymous

You were probably battling people asking for OU singles after aegislash got banned, everyone was so used to being challenged to what they typed that someone going in with something banned in the format they asked for could be pretty upsetting
That's the one explanation I can come up with

I remember rejecting a couple of people challenging me to singles when I was asking for multis sometimes, it was around 9/10 of getting what you wanted in my experience

Funny story I remember going to trade forums and seeing users complain that all everyone asked was smogon singles and were mad they just insta surrendered when they saw their team instead of battling him with honor and how smogon was ruining cartridge play or some shit, I don't know why I remember this funny thing but man it was funny

                Anonymous

I don't think the person I battled had said anything to do with Smogon formats in the chat, though seeing how they were reeing about Aegislash being Uber I suppose that's the case and I was the stupid one. For reference, this happened in 2019 at the earliest, so I didn't really expect people to still care about competitive battles in X/Y when they had already moved on to later generations.
                >and were mad they just insta surrendered when they saw their team instead of battling him with honor
Welp, I had no idea people could be so hung up about this either. I don't really play competitive and I usually used teams made with other people's suboptimal breeding rejects

You underestimate how much people actually like XY/ORAS and chill, I used to do my grading for work with my 3ds on my desk just doing casual battles all afternoon

The drip of battles was constant so I wouldn't lose anything by surrendering against a player that didn't respect my request and wait 3-5 minutes for someone that did

People in forums that disliked the fanfic format were really damn vocal about it, and I can almost see why, in the passerby tag almost all shot outs were variations of "OU singles" or "smogon only" at some hours

Online is the only reason why I miss Gen 6. The single player was too easy and the postgame sucked but shit like monthly competitions, 2ch events, and DiancieEgg4Shiny made it fun.

interesting how you cry about the game being easy and then proceed to ignore the blatantly hard part of the game.
