>early XY insider leaks said several moves would be dual typed
>3 gens later, Flying Press is still the only one
>Flying Press is gen 6's first move internally, indicating it was one of XY's earliest ideas

What would be the strongest dual type move?
Offensive type + Fairy
muddy water would be crazy if it was a water/ground move
I would like this for some specific moves. Mudy water, Kyurem special ice moves should be super effective if the target is weak to electric/fire. Dragon ascend super effective Vs dragon weak. That flying special move of Yveltal that drains life should be super effective Vs dark weak (actually this one should be dark type move from the beginning, makes no sense for flying moves to drain life...). I think it would be interesting mechanic to give to specific moves to make them more interesting.
I think Fairy/Ground on the top of my head.
>SE against 8 Types (although no overlap, so no SUPER SUPER Effective damage), Almost half of the types in the game.
>Nothing can resist both of them
>Ground is SE against Poison and Steel, the 2 Weaknesses Fairy has.
>Fairy Damage would likely make trump the "Immune to Ground" aspect of Flying/Levitate, making it basically Thousand Arrows by default.
Damage would likely make trump the "Immune to Ground" aspect of Flying/Levitate, making it basically Thousand Arrows by default.
Not only would this make no sense due to the multiplicative nature of Pokemon type matchups (immunities override everything because x*0 is always 0), Flying Press is ineffective against Ghosts so the only precedent for dual type moves says they don't work this way.
Interesting, thanks for the correction anon.
Honestly, I had to look it up to make sure Flying Press actually was ineffective against Ghost.
Dual type attacks make my head hurt and I'm glad they didn't vomit a bunch of them out.
>Dual type attacks make my head hurt
Honestly that's probably why they decided against more, they're really hard things for the average player to remember, especially since kids are a huge part of the playerbase.
Fighting/Ghost maybe or at least 2nd
making elemental punches and kick "fighting+element", kicks being 20 damage higher but less precise.
Ground + Ice
Honestly I think the best combos would be those that heavily punish a single type. Take Fire/Fighting for example, it has some issues but on the plus side it absolutely ruins any Steel types that aren't Aegislash or Flash Fire Heatran, while Ice/Grass is fantastic against practically every Ground type in the game. That being said, I think Ice/Rock is a good contender. Punishes so many types incredibly hard, coupled with strong coverage vs Steel and almost nothing will want to switch in.
Remember when half this board thought "armor evolutions" were real because the post about them successfully guessed Sword and Shield's title?
Possibly because Game Freak realized that Dual type moves aren’t that good and only kept Flying Press for flavor with Hawlucha.
I explained it in another thread but to simplify, the issue with Dual type moves is that the negative aspects it each type add up faster than the positive aspects.
There a reason why no one runs Flying Press Hawlucha.
>There a reason why no one runs Flying Press Hawlucha.
The reason being Flying Press isn't 120 BP.
>you will never get to use a Fire/Flying dual type STAB Heatwave against Dry Skin Parasect
damn
They should just do more moves like freeze-dry instead. Bug deserves a move that's SE against Fairy.
>Bug deserves a move that's SE against Fairy.
Bug will never ever be SE against fairy, it makes zero sense.
It also makes zero sense for Bug to be resisted by Fairy but here we are.
Bugs are weak and pathetic so it makes complete sense
moron
Freeze dry is broken though
Freeze Dry gives you a good reason to use actual ice types for ice coverage, it's a great move, hell it should be stronger
there is one good freeze dry user
Is this what got Bundle banned?
yeah it got an unresisted STAB combo with freeze dry and hydro pump
Yes
He already dents everything but with his speed killing him after switching in is rough. You pretty much have to bring something like BP.
