Songs of Conquest has some of the most disgusting shills out there. Any other shill would open with something like "it's on sale right now, anyone want to hop on multiplayer?". These guys always post something bruteforced like "super duper game. buy!"
is waiting still not a general ability for every unit? Are there still only 4 factions? How many neutral/unaffiliated special units are in the game?
effective ad targeting because only strategy enthusiasts (your target audience in general, but also frequent homm3 enjoyers) visit this board, thread stays up forever so free visibility on a high traffic website, way to downplay the "handful" of posters... if it was a handful there wouldn't be a separate board. And way to end the OP with a "worth a buy!". Here's a free bump just because I admire how underhanded all of this is.
HoMM4 did that with Pirate's Daughter campaign and it was fantastic.
The difference was that it was well-written pirate story script, rather than existing as political preaching.
Second campaign is slave rebellion.
Third campaign is restoring the Empress.

You should consider killing yourself that's will be an upgrade to This in a lot of departments Also your game is shit pixelcrap Frick you and FRICK the no life miserable homosexuals who keeps shilling it here
I've made this complaint before and I'll make it again. The reason I dropped this game is that it makes you wait a long time for a bunch of stuff that HoMM gives you instantly, and thus locks you into strategies that you might desperately want to change.
SoC makes you wait to hire scouts at the start of the game until you build your town past a certain level.
It makes you wait to carry your maximum number of stacks until you build up your skills to a certain level.
It makes you wait 1 to 3 turns before you can use the buildings you purchased.
It makes you wait longer than that before you can gain any benefits other than income from a captured enemy town.
It makes you wait to cast spells until you've generated the necessary essence.
What this means is that SoC has a lot of inertia compared to HoMM -- once you start a specific course of action, you're locked into it, and there's a serious cost to adjusting on the fly. In HoMM, the game may be turn-based, but it feels fast. There's a lot happening in every turn, and you're always actively doing stuff. And, when necessary, you can easily pivot to a new tactic -- hire a new hero, build a citadel or castle when an enemy approaches, hire out your opponent's troops right after you take their town, cast the exact spell you need to counter your opponent's unexpected spell, retreat from a battle that was tougher than you expected, etc.
SoC, by contrast, *feels* turn-based. You feel the weight of every turn, sitting around helpless and sluggish while you're waiting for stuff to happen.
SoC's early game is especially make-or-break depending on how your first fights go because you start so starved of resources. If you play with "difficult" maps, the first few turns will determine the game 70% of the time if either player loses one too many "mid tier" unit from the piddling starting stack they get because you neither have resources to upgrade the town OR build the dwellings to resupply yourself now that you can't pick up shit beyond guards and take a dramatic tempo loss.
You can't even use magic or buy a second wielder because it was patched out. You can't pick early tempo like Solmyr or Stronghold. If the map gen spawns Quick or Backstab mid tier units next to your wood/ore mine you're fricked.
I hate it. It's a complete coin toss if you start like this.
>SoC's early game
Not so long ago, the meta was to hire and fire a hero few times, as each time you rehire him, his stacks refreshes.
So as a frog, you get plenty of last tier ranged units from the get go that can be upgraded into dragons later on and steamroll the map.
Then you encounter the enemy A.I. which somehow pulled even more last tier units out of his ass but it's okay, because you'll just cheese him with magic anyway so it doesn't matter.
>Because frick you, stay in your fricking lane.

Who cares if people are exploiting a singleplayer game? Especially if it's covering up for bad design decisions like the ones

If it's so bad and such an obvious exploit that you must do something about it, there are many ways to balance a strategy that aren't removing it entirely.

>abusing one broken mechanic over and over again
Whenever I think of mechanic abuse and HoMM3, I have to think of hero chaining to rapidly move troops, and of 1-unit stacks to absorb hits.
Too many broken and annoying to do mechanics are considered to be "normal" over there.

who says these are broken or an abuse of the mechanics? 1-stacks especially; they give you 7 stacks for a reason. and 1-stacks balance out because each of them can only waste a retaliation or take a hit once. if all of your stacks are 20-30 mid-tier units and your opponent has one big power stack and a bunch of 1-stacks, it's annoying to fight through them, but the flip side is that once the 1-stacks are gone, they're gone

People are "abusing" a mechanic because the game is made based on the three autists playing breakout 1v1 maps over and over and over again and disproportionately telling the devs to listen to them.
And even THEY admit that the early game is wonky, saying, I quote, "90% of the time I don't beat my opponent, either they or me just lose before we ever make contact". (Lose here doesn't mean wiping, just falling irrecoverably behind).
See, even this image in HoMM3 means you can simply wait out and take down the master gremlins, either by just piling stacks of imps to overwhelm them or waiting out the entire week.
In SOC, you are fricked, plain and simple.
The game is crap and lackluster. Flying units do not fly. The unit cap is crap forcing you to go leadership and upgrade unit caps as the first thing you do. The graphics compared to HoMM3 remaster are shit and would be far better if they dropped moronic and ugly pixelgraphics for just drawn animations.
Another thing is that you have to wait for AI to do their moves even if it is behind fog of war. Even HOMM3 made AI move at instant if it was behind fow...
>if they dropped moronic and ugly pixelgraphics for just drawn animations
But that would require effort. Meanwhile, faux-pixelart allows you to cheapen out on everything and then claim "retro" creed
Haven't played it yet but I feel like age of wonders series already became the modern version of HOMM, in my mind. I mean it's pretty much HOMM but with more stuff / complex combat
The best HoMM experience since HoMM 3 is just playing HoMM 3. If you need bunch of QoL, then HoMM 3 with handful of QoL settings turned on from WoG/ERA (and everything else turned off)
i love the spellcasting in this game, can just throw spells all day long and it feels really fun to build characters with that in mind.

yes.
What's the point in shilling on a slow board with a handful of posters?

Let me know when it's finally done and is better optimized. For pixel art it shouldn't turn my decent laptop into toaster
You might need to upgrade your pc
Plays fine on my pc, but I travel and this kind of game doesn't seem like it should set my half-decent laptop on fine
Frick off dev, make better games. Pixelshit like this shouldn't require a modern gaming PC.
If a pixel art game can't run on a pre-2010 rig with XP as OS, it's badly written and the coding is god-awful. No ifs, buts or any other shit.

I tried playing the demo of zodiac legion lately and it was the same case. the game is pixelshit. why the frick is it chugging?
I kind of like this game but it’s way too easy. Braindead AI makes this game a 3/5 imo.
