The gacha ranges all over the place really, the game has gotten better about it but that launch man....
Fodder units now have a purpose even if it is as wood for a campfire, and Bravers is argubably even more whale centric but at least you dont get fricked out of +3 weapons now if the last one was anything to go by. All Whales get is quick(er) access to a 5* water unit(Sheex) who im not really sure how good he is only that he has a very potent -Str debuff that only lasts 10 seconds(so useful for people who arent whales). They still havent fixed some shit like the input buffer being way too long or multiplayer being basically dead. They're trying on the latter and it has some miniscule amount of success but not enough.
The game is still making a low profitable amount in japan, so it will still be around there for a little while longer. Ive no idea for global though does not look good for it there.

The best change this game has made was reducing the difficulty of the gear dungeons so you can auto it. Wish more games did that to cut out the tedium. Still don't expect this game to last long but I'm here for the ride.

Legend of mana is like the mask of majora of the mana series, A ton of side quests and things to do as you progress through the game. Its worth a playthrough, love the characters and their stories.

might be forgetting some details about this game and/or trials, but is this the first time something has been clearly non-canon outside of quilt's interference?
The chapter is a weird mix of canon and non-canon, the chapter itself seems to takes place before ToM and fleshes out Crimson Wizard's (Flamaus) backstory that was very briefly hinted at in Trials, so Flamaus depiction and characterization are actually canon, but the actual plot that happened in the chapter (the root, Future CW attacking Altena in the past) is not canon to ToM.
i'm thinking more of his friendship with angela, if they were actually friends in the past then i'm sure she would've said something about it in trials (unless i'm forgetting something and she did)
then again echoes angela did say that she doesn't recognize crimson wizard at all while framaus was standing right next to her, so maybe she's just dumb
Angela does actually have one line in ToM remake where she claims CW used to be a kind boy if you talk to her in Altena, but that's about it.
I think its fair to assume that once Framaus turned CW and the smuggest butthole, their friendship fell through to the point Angela doesn't even want to call him by his name anymore.
Future CW makes it pretty clear he hates her, and most of Angela's dialogue towards him in ToM makes it seem the feeling is mutual.

This is probably the best tier list ive seen. Though I question some placements (Water Angela should be higher). Also RIP og Shiloh and Serafina.

Doesn't this screw up new players though? If they weren't able to finish all 100 floors in time or the start after this they permanently miss out on 4 CW dupes.
Sandra seems pretty fricking strong just reading the dupe unlocks and obviously the memogem also makes them giga strong. higher combo = tons of str%, with self str buff you can get like 70% or something stupid. Also has the elazul flip attack move.
So what's the consensus on physical accessories? I'm gonna have to farm the story for that memogem and I'm not sure which set to farm.
Lck+30, str+100 or mp-10%?
if something survives long enough for you to run out of MP, then you'll probably still run out even with -10%. and if it doesn't survive, then the mp does nothing for you
30 luck is not much compared to what you can get from gear, but you can't get luck much anyways so being able to stack more is nice
100 str matters most on low rarity characters since their str doesn't scale as well, otherwise you start hitting diminishing returns
you could think of it as 5% = 30 luck/100 str so if you have more than 600 luck or 2000 str then might as well pick the other one, etc
don't forget that moon/wood gear is only from main story now so it'll be good to farm that when you can

I've started using H.Duffle in all my teams as an st gauge charger equipped with that Fuji memogem with st charge 15% per 5sec as she is almost always off element. Now all of my accessories have lck - str/int - lck as their main stat, and since most of my damage comes from tech tag spam it is better to forego luck and have str/int as the main stat right? And use skills as a means to charge gauge/utility. I'll be honest I haven't paid much attention to the game, and was just having it on auto daliesaside from the v.hard x3 one.
duffle's skill still hits pretty hard, so some luck for its damage isn't too bad. you'll probably need to do at least one in your rotation too
but there's not much else worth rolling on substats anyways
in the game, since you play as either MC, they don't really have personalities. the anime made up two distinct personalities in order to give both of them screentime, but the anime's plotline was also a reimagining of the story arc from the game, in which (major spoilers) serafina kills her best friend and even shiloh in cold blood right to their faces, lying to and misleading both multiple times despite getting also very close to them, and all while helping defend a serial killer

What killed the game was needing 6 dupes to fully power a character, in a gacha as fricked up stingy as it was. I think I got more dupes of Sumo and Shiloh than I did for on banners.
They werent minor upgrades either, they were borderline required to make the characters not feel weak. The fact 3 of the same character was needed to not feel totally underpowered was some fricked up shit. The fricking things to remedy this were basically non existent until like 6 months in and you didn't get anywhere near enough to fix that, and the element ones were only p2w in fricking 30+ buck packages. Lets not even get to the gems.
Didnt help they didnt fix a lot of the bugs and input issues either.
I never spend on Square Enix gachas, I started playing them because of Star Ocean so it was a good lesson.

It's a gacha model smash and grab. Exploit established IP, dev team is tiny, dev cost is minimal, profit from whales, highest profits will be during launch window, withdraw service when profits are not high enough, so you can move onto pushing next new gacha. Do not provide for end of service play in perpetuity, you'd just be canabalising potential spenders on the next gacha game but letting them spend their time somewhere where you cannot get them to spend.
FFBE has sustained enough playerbase and profits to keep going over the years, but even so it'll die eventually. WotV, Sinoalice, Nier Reincarnation, Octopath CotC, Re;univerSe and DFFOO are all absolutely fricked, it's just a question of how soon. Maybe you will get an opportunity to buy a $60 artbook at the end if you are lucky.

EoM was last described as "getting off to a solid start" in August last year following April release, wasn't mentioned since, but I think Square Enix revised their reporting because of how badly they have fricked over investors with bad crypto+NFTs decisions, selling IP at insane undervalue (like, to the point Matsuda should probably be subject to further fraud investigation) and how utterly insanely damaging the marketing and development direction for Forspoken has been.

no not that, I know he's the first character you get introduced to in Echoes but it's a really weird choice. My only guess is they were trying to capitalize on his popularity with women. I think he and Riesz were among the first units introduced in Rise and that game EoS'd in less than a year, too.
Rise lasted approximately 2 years, it EoS'd before its second anniversary though.
It's weird as frick they pushed Hawkeye so hard in EoM's story when he's tied with the lowest amounts of alts of all the ToM protagonists with Charlotte though, meanwhile Riesz, Angela and Duran got a seasonal and a class change alt. If they were trying to capitalize his popularity with woman then why did he never get any alts?

Why do I have this feeling Dema was intended to be Anise's origin story? It kind of fits. Her hatred of the Mana tree and its curse in other worlds so she could become one and end the entire curse of the Mana clan. You know, I seriously hope SD5 is an origin story for Anise.
If you ask me they probably had vague plans to have Anise take over the villain role after the Dema and Nona arc, in case the game survived past season 2. Alas that didn't happen, so she ended up awkwardly slapped there for the sake of Dema's backstory.

Well, I finished the story and and you can definitely tell that it was rushed and very underwhelming as a result. Hopefully the next mana game will be better.
Riesz is borderline Touhou tier, which is a fricking enigma to this day, and still getting more and more.
Angela was never that bad about it either. She was still pretty behind Riesz and other FF wommen, but definately no dry zone, and its only gotten more abuundant since the Remake.

Circle had a story and events not unlike EoM. You could argue the pirate event was a reference to Circle as that game also had one, but even that is a bit of a stretch.
Either way, the current Mana team refuses to acknowledge Circle's existence even going as far to not include it in their 30th anniversary celebration they did a few years back, I doubt it would have ever gotten any meaningful content in this game.
The worst offender is that fricking Rise of all games got content. Even Circle would've been a better choice.
I'm not surprised considering Rise and Echoes were both done under Oyamada's supervision, it was probably his call to prioritize Rise content over World of Mana shit.

The game had issues, but seeing all the cut content makes me sad, the game at least had 2 more years of content.
Only two, Buyee and Delivery Japan, there's probably others as well but I haven't really used them. I have limited experience with the former, and ordered stuff three times from the latter from Mercari and Yahoo Japan auction. There's a service fee usually for each site you order from, but the real kicker is always the shipping so be sure to order a bunch of stuff at once is my advice. Decided to bite the bullet and also get the LOM Collector's Edition artbook and some puppet show artbooks with the Echoes of Mana artbook.

Healers don't really have much going for them anymore now that the competitive content is based around speed clears and taking no damage, Fuji might be useful in things like Deviant and Tower floors though

The gacha ranges all over the place really, the game has gotten better about it but that launch man....
Fodder units now have a purpose even if it is as wood for a campfire, and Bravers is argubably even more whale centric but at least you dont get fricked out of +3 weapons now if the last one was anything to go by. All Whales get is quick(er) access to a 5* water unit(Sheex) who im not really sure how good he is only that he has a very potent -Str debuff that only lasts 10 seconds(so useful for people who arent whales). They still havent fixed some shit like the input buffer being way too long or multiplayer being basically dead. They're trying on the latter and it has some miniscule amount of success but not enough.
The game is still making a low profitable amount in japan, so it will still be around there for a little while longer. Ive no idea for global though does not look good for it there.

legend of mana is probably one of the more unique rpgs i've played, and i enjoyed it very much because of which
the map system does have potentially to actually get fricked up and it's pretty much impossible to 100% the game without a guide, but i don't think it's aged poorly either

Legend of mana is like the mask of majora of the mana series, A ton of side quests and things to do as you progress through the game. Its worth a playthrough, love the characters and their stories.

might be forgetting some details about this game and/or trials, but is this the first time something has been clearly non-canon outside of quilt's interference?
The chapter is a weird mix of canon and non-canon, the chapter itself seems to takes place before ToM and fleshes out Crimson Wizard's (Flamaus) backstory that was very briefly hinted at in Trials, so Flamaus depiction and characterization are actually canon, but the actual plot that happened in the chapter (the root, Future CW attacking Altena in the past) is not canon to ToM.
i'm thinking more of his friendship with angela, if they were actually friends in the past then i'm sure she would've said something about it in trials (unless i'm forgetting something and she did)
then again echoes angela did say that she doesn't recognize crimson wizard at all while framaus was standing right next to her, so maybe she's just dumb
Angela does actually have one line in ToM remake where she claims CW used to be a kind boy if you talk to her in Altena, but that's about it.
I think its fair to assume that once Framaus turned CW and the smuggest butthole, their friendship fell through to the point Angela doesn't even want to call him by his name anymore.
Future CW makes it pretty clear he hates her, and most of Angela's dialogue towards him in ToM makes it seem the feeling is mutual.

Lck+30, str+100 or mp-10%?
if something survives long enough for you to run out of MP, then you'll probably still run out even with -10%. and if it doesn't survive, then the mp does nothing for you
30 luck is not much compared to what you can get from gear, but you can't get luck much anyways so being able to stack more is nice
100 str matters most on low rarity characters since their str doesn't scale as well, otherwise you start hitting diminishing returns
you could think of it as 5% = 30 luck/100 str so if you have more than 600 luck or 2000 str then might as well pick the other one, etc
don't forget that moon/wood gear is only from main story now so it'll be good to farm that when you can

Luck has gone down in value a bit because of tech tag and the MP reduction one is pretty worthless.
If you want to speed up the memory gem farm, I recommend farming Season 1 chapter 1 instead, its 2 stamina each run and you can get 90~ runs with a full bar. It's a convenient way to farm both bond levels and weapon EXP too.
I miss spirit crystal sweep, it was only 1 stamina per run and had Rabites in it, which are cuter than knitwits

I've started using H.Duffle in all my teams as an st gauge charger equipped with that Fuji memogem with st charge 15% per 5sec as she is almost always off element. Now all of my accessories have lck - str/int - lck as their main stat, and since most of my damage comes from tech tag spam it is better to forego luck and have str/int as the main stat right? And use skills as a means to charge gauge/utility. I'll be honest I haven't paid much attention to the game, and was just having it on auto daliesaside from the v.hard x3 one.
duffle's skill still hits pretty hard, so some luck for its damage isn't too bad. you'll probably need to do at least one in your rotation too
but there's not much else worth rolling on substats anyways

in the game, since you play as either MC, they don't really have personalities. the anime made up two distinct personalities in order to give both of them screentime, but the anime's plotline was also a reimagining of the story arc from the game, in which (major spoilers) serafina kills her best friend and even shiloh in cold blood right to their faces, lying to and misleading both multiple times despite getting also very close to them, and all while helping defend a serial killer
Don't forget dipshit Shiloh still thought it was a good idea to take her home with him at the end. Apparently there's a director's cut in the works that may clarify things, but I don't think it would help much. The anime was completely shit from beginning to end, except for them gem breasts.

What killed the game was needing 6 dupes to fully power a character, in a gacha as fricked up stingy as it was. I think I got more dupes of Sumo and Shiloh than I did for on banners.
They werent minor upgrades either, they were borderline required to make the characters not feel weak. The fact 3 of the same character was needed to not feel totally underpowered was some fricked up shit. The fricking things to remedy this were basically non existent until like 6 months in and you didn't get anywhere near enough to fix that, and the element ones were only p2w in fricking 30+ buck packages. Lets not even get to the gems.
Didnt help they didnt fix a lot of the bugs and input issues either.
This + moronic gear grind that was forced to do it online when it came out, and then PVP event shit which caters to giga whales.

Exploit established IP, dev team is tiny, dev cost is minimal, profit from whales, highest profits will be during launch window, withdraw service when profits are not high enough, so you can move onto pushing next new gacha. Do not provide for end of service play in perpetuity, you'd just be canabalising potential spenders on the next gacha game but letting them spend their time somewhere where you cannot get them to spend.
FFBE has sustained enough playerbase and profits to keep going over the years, but even so it'll die eventually. WotV, Sinoalice, Nier Reincarnation, Octopath CotC, Re;univerSe and DFFOO are all absolutely fricked, it's just a question of how soon. Maybe you will get an opportunity to buy a $60 artbook at the end if you are lucky.

Why do I have this feeling Dema was intended to be Anise's origin story? It kind of fits. Her hatred of the Mana tree and its curse in other worlds so she could become one and end the entire curse of the Mana clan. You know, I seriously hope SD5 is an origin story for Anise.
fwiw Anise is effectively Mavolia's creator god. So any origin story wouldn't have Mavolia already around.
If you ask me they probably had vague plans to have Anise take over the villain role after the Dema and Nona arc, in case the game survived past season 2. Alas that didn't happen, so she ended up awkwardly slapped there for the sake of Dema's backstory.

Riesz is borderline Touhou tier, which is a fricking enigma to this day, and still getting more and more.
Angela was never that bad about it either. She was still pretty behind Riesz and other FF wommen, but definately no dry zone, and its only gotten more abuundant since the Remake.

The worst offender is that fricking Rise of all games got content. Even Circle would've been a better choice.

Circle had a story and events not unlike EoM. You could argue the pirate event was a reference to Circle as that game also had one, but even that is a bit of a stretch.
Either way, the current Mana team refuses to acknowledge Circle's existence even going as far to not include it in their 30th anniversary celebration they did a few years back, I doubt it would have ever gotten any meaningful content in this game.
I'm not surprised considering Rise and Echoes were both done under Oyamada's supervision, it was probably his call to prioritize Rise content over World of Mana shit.

Artbook came out on Japan yesterday and I found a shitty livestream of some dude flipping through it, there's a lot of shit in there and the quality was shit but I'll get to the point:

Only two, Buyee and Delivery Japan, there's probably others as well but I haven't really used them. I have limited experience with the former, and ordered stuff three times from the latter from Mercari and Yahoo Japan auction. There's a service fee usually for each site you order from, but the real kicker is always the shipping so be sure to order a bunch of stuff at once is my advice. Decided to bite the bullet and also get the LOM Collector's Edition artbook and some puppet show artbooks with the Echoes of Mana artbook.
