For frick sakes. Another game ruined. I was going to play that since it seemed like a decent rougelike and I know a lot of people were into it but frick that.
This stuff is the equivalent of Dumbledore being gay. It's post-release nonsense he's just shitting out for brownie points. The game does not make light of abuse either that's an extremely delusional perspective someone only came up with once they realized they needed to dislike it to virtue signal that they're against "woke" media. The entire game is morbid and over the top but the abuse is very much a bad thing and the game isn't cute in any imaginable way unless you're into literal piles of shit.
Yes, every character in Binding of Isaac is Isaac.
Quite literally it was on his le head

Maybe you should. Just don't let the hype to go to your head and try going into it without the expectations of having your socks blown off.
I also like all of his smaller projects I tried (of which there's a bunch). You just feel like all of the games have a specific vision, and that the dev has a specific way of doing things in the way he likes. All of those other devs also feel like they work within a specific vision across all of their projects as well, and that "personality" really makes them stand out.

dicey dungeons is his only other game on steam to this date and it doesnt really hold up to vvvvvv or super hexagon. really good for a casual playthrough, but the extra challenge content is truly dogshit and will make your day worse, don't bother going for 100%. get it on sale if you want to try it. the game's ost is the highlight. >vlambeer
nuclear throne lives up to the hype. the gunplay is extraordinary and you can bring untold death and destruction to your enemies once you are accustomed to the environment and difficulty. if you ever decide to try it out, the game never goes on sale so don't try waiting for one.

>Indie developer fights with his fanbase, doesn't improve his game in any significant way
Maybe in 2023, they realize their arrogance pisses everyone off, and not just gamers.
meh, meat boy and binding of isaac are kinda lame, i get the appeal, but they're not something i'd ever remember fondly or want to return to anytime soon
Meat Boy is insanely overrated but I think that's because most people don't know what the frick Jumper 2 is. Binding of Isaac I find to be a much more impressive game but it also single handedly started the roguelite trend. It's the same feelings I have towards Minecraft. Great games I spend hundreds of hours on having fun but the effects it had on the industry anger me. Not his fault though I suppose.
And to expand on the jumper vs meatboy stuff. Super Meatboy does pretty much everything better than Jumper 1,2, or 3. It's just it's not as original as people often seem to feel. The draw of meat boy imo is that it's a precision platformer with extremely fluid controls so it takes a genre that usually filters people and it makes it wildly more accessible. I had fun with the game when it came out but I would literally never think of it again if it didn't gain this absurd level of respect and popularity. It's not particularly hard compared to other games in the genre, it's not particularly interesting, the controls are really smooth but that kinda takes away from the satisfaction of beating a level compared to something like Dustforce where you're doing these precise timed inputs to get the most out of your movement. It's just an alright game and I don't give it credit for it's foundation because that's literally just Jumper. Then what's even more annoying is Celeste comes along, made by the guy who made Jumper, with significantly better level design than Meat Boy, and everyone starts saying Celeste is a meat boy clone kek. Fricking moronic.

there are plenty of names, they just dont generate discussion because the market went from being controlled by a few press people/indie circles to being controlled by valve with their algorithm, and valve doesnt care about who makes their games (which is good). there are hundreds of indie devs who have made millions, sometimes tens of millions of dollars off steam who youve never heard about
