A great game held back by a few sketchy decisions, both aesthetically (Tawna) and mechanically (excessive hidden crates).
Those decisions really do ruin it. A crash game is only playable depending on how fun it is to smash the boxes
Also the unnecessary long ass stages, Crash always felt like arcade fun because you could easily jump into any stage, jumping into a stage in 4 felt like a real ass wedding compromise.
So this explains why only the second game is good then.
Tawna is such a non-issue, only the chuddiest incels give a shit about her looking like a feminist girlboss. But I agree about the crates.

I like alternate universe tawna. It's hokey and goes with the whole alternate universe shit they have with N. Tropy. The only problem is that there are actually too many gems and it makes the game feel bloated. 3 deaths or less is fine. Hidden gem is fine. All crates is fine. Maybe keep the 80% wumpa fruit gem? N. Verted levels shouldn't count towards 100%, instead towards 200%. Also N. Verted levels should use crystals instead of gems. N. Sanely perfect relics are fricking bonkers considering the size of the levels. Some of the levels should've been cut into two levels but otherwise I genuinely think it's the best feeling crash game. Also the triple spin is dumb bring back the running shoes

I just can't do those fricking gimmick stages in 3 anymore, man. They're not the worst thing ever but they really get in the way of my enjoyment of 3.
And my experience with 1 was minimal to the other 3 since I missed out on it growing up, so it's just at the end due to my opinion of it not being as well defined, I bet if I played it more I'm mentally ill enough to put it higher than 3.

95% of the bullshit in the completion content feels like it gets just to "haha, we got stupid streamer man looking for box without a guide, please clip the content and subscribe." It doesn't even feel like a genuine effort to frick with the player, it just feels cynical. Getting all gems was a big part of the original trilogy. If you want to add this aspirational anti-design bullshit put it in the achievements, not the core game.
