Dodge monster attacks. Block human attacks preferably timed blocks so you can counter Or just get the whirl attack and never worry about actually using your brain again
>I never really got hang of the combat. Should I dodge or block? When and why?
Always pirouette except when you want to put distance between you and the opponent, then dodge. The skill that gives you i-frames on pirouettes is a must for melee combat.
for humans: If the slash is white, block, if not dodge
for monsters: (especially vampires and small ones) still the same
for Big monsters: Quen or dodge
I'm playing through the "next gen" update right now on PC and is it just optimized like shit? I feel like it chugs when it really shouldn't be.
Also does anyone else have issues with the saturation? The default gamma setting looked awful so I lowered it and it looks alright. But there's still parts where Geralt's beard is almost black instead of grey and then areas where the skin on people's face just seems...off. Maybe it's the Ray Tracing and I just need to get used to it? I dunno.
>I feel like it chugs when it really shouldn't be.
They fricked up the CPU utilization, in particular in DX12, and the game became way too dependent on one thread.
DX11 version runs better than DX12 version (without raytracing), but it doesn't have DLSS or FSR2. Still has worse CPU utilization than "old gen" version. With Ryzen 3600 I gave up one replaying TW3 after update.
That is unfortunate to hear. The ray tracing doesn't look too bad by any means but it really doesn't seem worth the performance issues. May just bump it back down to DX11 I guess.

Played w3 on release, didn't finish it. Replayed it last month, main story was okay, Blood and Wine was pretty good, but frick me hearts of stone was an absolute gem, short and sweet. I'd have loved a witcher game where you just played an anthology of a bunch of unconnected 10-hourish stories
At least post the good cover
Skyrim is better
Do you figure moderns games cant compete because of dysgenics ruining the 20 something game dev scene?
You're only allowed to love it when its over 18 years old. That's the law

I played the entire game just spamming light attacks, dodge and Quen. Except those stone enemies that required heavy attacks
parry and counterattack humans, dodge everything else

Got a few crashes on DX12 and seems I'm not the only one. Shit is buggy as frick. You're better off playing on DX11.
