This many years after release last gen I could walk into any electronics store and find new units of the ps4 and xbone waiting to buy. I still can't do this for the current gen. It only exists in the online stores and parents aren't going to run into the consoles as a gift for thier kids online like they might in a store.

While they were having their re-marketers write articles coping that PS players were actually just outside touching grass and that's why the sales are terrible (because that's what you do when locked down during a pandemic and everything else entertainment is forcibly closed even though your friends at Nintendo and Microsoft saw purchases soar) there were a bunch of them sitting on shelves and still are.
I have yet to see anyone who wasn't clearly a scalper walking out with a shitload of them buy one.
I don't know where you are. Around me the stores still have to try and advertise that they got a shipment of maybe 5 and then I go inside and the shelves are empty already.
All it needs is the best game of all time, Demons Souls, which runs at 60+ fps in 4K and is literally the best looking game ever made, in addition to being a legendary and classic game.

Sony released their first party titles on PC over the last couple years. Doesn't mean PS is getting less games it's just that they are sharing.
